Why is this IP address unknown?

I am using little snitch and under mDNSResponder and the connection history, there is what looks to be an IP address. The IP address is 192.168.1.1. I tried to locate the IP address and it came up unknown. Does anyone know anything about this or understand what mDNSresponder is?

If you have more than one computer or similar device, they can communicate with each other through a network created and managed by your router. Such a network is called a "local area network" or LAN.
Every device on that network including the router has a unique IP (Internet Protocol) address. These days an IP address consists of four integers in the range 0 to 255 separated by a decimal or dot, for example 192.168.1.1 (very soon we will need more complicated IP addresses than that but don't worry, if your router is relatively new you won't have to think about it).
Your router apparently has an IP address of 192.168.1.1. It is responsible for issuing IP addresses to all the devices that use it. They are usually consecutive so the first one it issues will be 192.168.1.2, the next is 192.168.1.3 and so forth. Many more than that becomes a moot point since most home routers are not capable of administering more than 50 devices.
When one of your computers or devices wants to communicate with another device, your router forwards the request to the specified server containing the information, wherever in the world it happens to be, and returns the results to the device on your LAN that requested it. Those web pages, emails, files etc that exist outside your LAN are considered on the Wide Area Network or WAN.
The Internet is built with routers, countless numbers of them, communicating with each other through a variety of infrastructures - cable, fiber optics, microwave, etc.
So Little Snitch is simply recording outgoing requests to the address of your router. There will be millions of them. Little Snitch is a very good utility to have but you will find many similar requests. Use it for a minimum of a few weeks and you will become familiar with what is normal and what could be reason for concern.

i have posted the question a couple of times in a different format, but have not received an answer....
Why wont the ipad email system allow the following format address:

It works in outlook, but not on the iPad.
I get the message invalid address or password.

I think the format is yourdomain.com.test-google-a.com. Your example is missing the .com part of your domain. So your example should look like [email protected] where mydomain = name.com

HT201210 Every time i try to restore my iPod it says "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An Unknown Error occurred (28) why is this happening??

I Put my iPod in my locker before lucnh and it was off, i went to go and turn it back on for math class and it wouldn't...... i plugged it into my computer and it says iPod is in recovery mode...... and it sujested that i update, and restore so i though okay.... it did the update but everything the restored comes it starts and stops and says "The iPod could not be restored. an unknown error occured (28). why does this keep happening?? please tell me i don't know what to do.......

Error 23, 28, 29: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with the white USB Dock Connector cable that shipped with your device, on a known good computer and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value, (00 499901 064000 0), can also confirm a hardware issue. When I respond to certain messages, I get an error message "unknown host" or "unknown user." Why is this?

Since the latest upgrade to 31.0, there are times when I will receive an e-mail, but when I send a reply, I get a response saying the message is undeliverable because of an unknown user, or an unknown host. These are messages, I'm replying to and have already received, so it's not a case of typing in an incorrect address.
This happens using both my computer and phone. Not sure why this is suddenly happening now, and why only with certain addresses. Any suggestions? Thanks.

my guess is they have invalid replyto information in the header. As it is on two devices, one of which can not run Thunderbird it is certainly not a Thunderbird issue.

Why are so many plugins "Unknown" by Firefox? And why was the last discussion on this closed? Why is there NO INFORMATION about "unknown plugins"?

On my list of plug-ins, half of them have the status of "unkown," with a box that says "Research?" I have no idea what this means, and it makes no sense to me that the topic of "Unknown Plugins" is not addressed ANYWHERE in the Firefox help pages. I read through all the "help" pages I could find about Plugins, and none of these pages even mentioned Unknown Plugins. Even doing a search for "unknown plugins" brought up nothing except one discussion on this topic -- which never received an answer, and which has been "closed."
This is odd because unknown plugins are obviously a major issue: HALF of my plugins are "unknown" and these are not from rare or minor companies. I don't have my entire list handy but my "unknown plugins" are from such sources as Google ("google update"), RealPlayer, iTunes, Amazon-mP3, Windows Live (photo gallery), and Picassa.
The whole reason I ended up grappling with plugins was in my quest to get rid of the annoying ads that creep up from the bottom right of my screen, and end up getting in the way of the page I'm viewing. I can't get rid of these things no matter how hard I try. There is no "x" in the corner, no option to remove or block frame when I right click on the ads, etc.
I have no idea if unknown plugins could play a role in these insidious ads, but there needs to be more explanation from Firefox on why so many plugins are unknown, and what exactly that means; how can "unknown plugins" possibly affect us?

Where are you looking at your plugins? I assume that you are looking at them over at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ . This type of behavior occurs because the plugin checker doesn't know about those plugins. Since it doesn't know about these plugins it can't tell you if there up to date or not. To see the plugins that you have installed click on Firefox -> Add-ons -> Plugins. This will give you a list of the plugins you have installed. If you don't see the Firefox button then click Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins.
As far as the ad's you are talking about this is rather concerning. This could be caused by a variety of different things. Can you provide me with the URL on one of these ad's? If you can I may be able to tell you want there associated with.

Some of the entries in my address book show birthdays one day/year earlier in Ical. I cannot change this except by putting in the birthdays a day/year earlier than they are. Why is this happening only for some entiries and not others?

Some of the birthdays I have entered in Address book appear in my Ical one day and one year earlier than the date I have given. Eg. I have entered a birthday in Address book as 23 March 2011 and it appears in Ical as being on 22 March 2010. Other names have no problems. There are only some that do not appear with the correct date and year. Why is this? Has anyone found how to correct this strange problem? I have Time Zones ticked.

I'm having this exact same problem, but it's doing it with a bunch of birthdays. I also did 0001 when I didn't know the birth year, so I went back and did a more current year, but they still aren't showing up where they should be...or at all. It's completely bizarre.

Just out of warranty. This is a software issue. everything was ok until the software update. Apple just need to sort it out.

I never had an APPLE ID with this email address and I have no idea why this is this showing to me?

Every time I restore my iPhone from iCloud Backup, this apple id SHOWS UP and asking password. But I never had an APPLE ID with this email address and I have no idea why this is this showing to me? Could anyone help me to remove it from my Applr ID as it seems somehow its linked to my iCloud Backup. Thank you.

I have received the iPhone 5s from my carrier EE UK. I never had a second hand device as all my previous iPhones received from my carrier. Every time I restore from iCloud backup, first I enter my Apple ID and Password, then it authenticates and goes through next process and updates iCloud settings, right after initial settings then it displayes enter your password where the Apple ID is the metntioned Apple ID and in the bottom it says "Skip this to go next process" or something. I have to press that everytime to skip it, then restore my backup from iCloud and then when I'm in iPhone home it asks me for the password of that mentoned email. So everytime I change the email address to my Apple ID then enter my password that activates my iCloud services and start downloading all the apps I installed.
Its really weird to be honest and I don't know how to remove that email address from that process and seems its there.
N.B. When I had iPhone 4s, Apple Store did replace my iPhone 4s with a new one due to the faulty WiFi.

That's probably because it's been sent out to a Bcc'd mailing list and that's the name on the main version. This is so that you don't see the other names.
If it doesn't come from something @apple.com then it's spam. Even if it appears to it's probably spam. If you want to change your password go directly to http://appleid.apple.com - do not follow any links in the email (even if they appear to lead to that address.)

When I try to sign in to iCloud it says it needs to be verified by a different email. But no email is being sent to this email address. Why not?

I keep trying to sign in and it keeps saying "Check your email at ***********.com for instructions to verify this account." But there is no email or message being received at this email address. You must have had another apple ID at some stage with its own password and it is that ID that must e the primary or rescure email address for the ID. Go to appleid.apple.com and then to manage ID and see if you can't sort it there

Opening second tab, no address causes download speed to drop from 160 kbs to less than 5 kbs and sits there doing nothing, does not happen with IE, why is this

after firefox updated from 27 to 28, when i download a file, play music, watch a video, or run a speed test, normal speed is about 160 kb/s (dsl connection 1.3 Mb/s) - just opening another blank tab (not any address) or try to open another page like google search page, download speed drops to less than 5 kb/s - downloading stops, and second page does not open, why is this happening, it does not happen with internet explorer and the version of IE i have is out of date,
history/cookies all clear automatically when close, i have disabled all add on, run malware, adware searches - show no problem, norton antivirus is up to date, i have spent hours on phone with ATT isp and connection is showing no problem - if i run a speed test it shows good, if i try to run a speed test and open second tab - speed fails and speed test will not even finish, ATT suggested I try the same thing in IE and there is no problem - so it appears to be an issue with Firefox 28

What is the CPU load when this slowdown happens?
Are you using a specific driver in Windows to mange the internet connection that might not get enough processor time to run properly?
It is also possible that other (security) isn't able to do its work and takes additional CPU time.
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

You can try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem if starting Firefox in Safe Mode didn't help.

How do you enable a disabled Apple ID. I have reset password, an everything else it wanted. Still get "Apple ID Disabled". Why doesn't Apple address this problem?
