Why is this weird graph plaguing my Flash slideshows?

Hi there,
I have a variety of slideshows that are operated by Adobe Flash featured on my Smugmug website, which in turn feature my photo galleries. A few days ago, this weird moving graph showed up on my gallery slideshows and apparently it remains unseen to all except me on my Mac. I've asked for help in the Smugmug forum, run virus scans, uninstalled & reinstalled the latest version of Adobe Flash, and it still shows up. It is not trying to install Flash Player. Since you haven't described exactly what you were doing when you observed this "separate box" I'll guess that you had used either the Open Scan Log or Open Update Log, both of which open the appropriate log file in the Console app and that for whatever reason an old log associated with FlashPlayerInstallManager was already open. You can verify this by checking to see what appliccation is in the foreground indicated by the menu immediately to the left of the Apple menu. If it says Console, then that explains that. The window with the mystery log file should have two columns. The right column contains the contents of the log. There will probably be dates included which will tell you when that took place. The left column should have the name of the log highlighted. If there is no left column, click the button at the top of the window that says "Show Log List."
Flash Player itself is spyware and malware.
No it isn't, it's buggy plug-in software for your web browser from Adobe. You should only download it from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ or allow it to update itself. A new update was just released a day or two ago and Apple blocked the use of any older versions yesterday. There were Trojans disquised as FlashPlayer installers over a year ago, so perhaps that is what you are thinking about.

Weird marquee around my flash .mov

I get this weird marquee around my flash movies on
my site and I'm not sure how to
get rid of them. It's this white halo that is around any of my
flash content. Then I get this message on the flash movie that
says, "Press SPACEBAR or hit ENTER to activate this control." It's
not a big deal, but it annoys me because it looks bad and you have
to click on the flash movie (anywhere to select it) and then click
on the buttons within the movie.
Does anybody know why this is happening? Thanks.

Need help switching Flash slideshow

I admit it, I need help!
Here is my problem, I want the links on the left to change the Flash slideshow on the right when clicked.
I want to stay on this page, so only the Flash slideshow changes.

Shouldn't matter what version ... that hasn't changed much and is done pretty much the same way as long as I can remember. Which seems to be getting shorter and shorter all the time.

Hard to say. What problem is causing you to need to force close apps? That may be a clue.

The LED on my time capsule is amber not green and not flashing, Why is this?

The LED on my time capsule is lighted amber, not green, not blinking, just on and amber. Why is this? Should be concerned? I unplugged it waited and plugged it back in? Should I try anything else?

A solid amber light on the AirPort indicates that the device has locked up. Power it off for 25-30 minutes and try again.
If still no luck, you will need to try a Factory Default Reset to try to unlock the device. Then, re-configure the device again. Information on resets is here:

If still no luck after a few tries with the Factory Default Reset, the AirPort Express is likely defective and should be replaced. If you have an Apple store in your area, you could take it to them to let them take a look.

Why am I and my Flash app users continuously bombared with "A script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flash Player-"

I'm experiencing a severe backlash from users of Flash
applications due to the frustration generated from encountering a
continuous bombardment of messages during the intialization of
Flash applications that reads:
"A script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flash Player 8
to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become
unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?"
What's worse is there are only two, very limited options for
users. The first is to continue on and the second is to simply
abandon the app and apparently forget about trying to accomplish
whatever it was you were accessing the application for. I'm going
to continue scouring Live Docs, Google, etc and hopefully I'll be
able to post my own answer soon. In the meantime, any input on the
matter would be VERY welcome.

You're saying "users of Flash applications." Do you mean
*all* Flash
applications? Or just one?

You don't have to scour very far. This message occurs when
something
inside a given SWF file is poorly written -- perhaps an
infinitely recursing
function, perhaps some other un-optimized looping or an
incredible amount of
unchecked math operations. But this certainly isn't something
that just
happens.
Can you nail this to one particular file? If so, the
developer of that
file needs to start troubleshooting her/her own code.

I have recently downloaded the newest version of flash player (version 11.9.900.117) and it is working fine with things like Youtube. However some websites that use flash player are coming up with the error message 'To view this page ensure that Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.0 or greater is installed'? I dont understand why this is happening as the version I have is 11.9.900.117 for Internet Explorer?? Please help this is driving me crazy!!!

Exactly the same problem with me, and (apart from basic fix issues like disabling ActiveX filtering, etc) no-one seems to know a solution.
OS: Win 7 64 bit
Browser: IE 10
Flash v: 11.9.900.117 (but problem continued after reverting to earlier versions with proper clean uninstalls of 11.9).
I do note that at around the time the trouble started, Google Chrome did some (background) updates, including its embedded version of this latest flash. But if the others (above) don't also have Chrome, that is clearly not the issue. Perhaps it's a registry issue?

Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
- a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
- other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.
This problem seems to have been around for years, without any proper solution from Apple and/or Adobe! To me, this is very embarrassing!

If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

PDF error A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly.

When opening a PDF of a website using Acrobat 9.0 Professional, I am recieiving the following notification.
A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly. If it continues to run, you computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?
The error does not occur when viewing the live website from which the PDF was made.
I recieve the same error when trying to open the PDF on other PCs using Adobe Reader 9.
I have updated the flash player on each of the PCs as well.
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas or insight regarding why I am recieving this notification.

I'm suddenly getting the same error message, on a variety of web sites. I'm running Windows Vista on a fairly high-end desktop, and I haven't added any new software lately. This just started up out of nowhere. When searching for this error message on the web, people are asking this same question all over the place, and no one has an answer. Does Adobe ever monitor these forums?

Can Captivate do this - or should I use Flash?

I am trying to create a corporate sales presentation, with
similar look/feel to this Flash preso:

I can handle the video/placement fine. But instead of the
navigation buttons, on the bottom, I want to create a Windows-like
navigation pane - similar to Windows Explorer (but with graphics),
where you can click on a '+' by a folder, and it opens up to show
you subsequent folders/topics, which you can then click on to
navigate through the preso.
I also want to create a portion of the screen on the bottom
where scrolling text, vertically appears, allowing users to read
certain product features as the presenter says them. This I can do,
with Flash.
Captivate seems to do all this, HOWEVER, I need the video to
be continuous, and it seems that Captivate has to do it in pieces,
since it works with slides, rather than frames.
I am not proficient with Flash and would prefer Captivate,
but if Captivate can't do this one thing (continuous video), I
can't use it. It is to choppy.

Why will this error cause a sequence gap?

I am learning the sequence object and found this weird thing happen. Can anyone explain to me why the next value jump to 21 after the error? I guess it may be related to the sequence cache which defaults to 20.
