Why is updating the Flash SDK so hard?

Can anyone shed light on why I have to jump through a dozen hoops to author with the latest SDKs for AIR & Flash Player in Flash Professional? I've been authoring Flash since Macromedia and I'm hard-pressed to find a reason why there is no mechanism to auto-update an SDK in the Flash authoring tool. Yes I know how to overlay the new SDK, rename folders, etc.. but why am I forced to do this? For the fortune I spend on Adobe products, I expect this to be built in, especially when the SDK changes continuously (sometimes monthly) while a new authoring tool is only released every 12-18 months or so.

Have you tried updating to Flex Builder 3.0.2 and then using Flex SDK 3.5?
Updates are available here: http://www.adobe.com/support/flex/downloads_updaters.html#flex3
Alternatively, Flash Builder 4 also provides full support for Flex SDK 3.5.

After the upgrade to 3.6, my flash player crashes while I'm trying to play Farmville. I have tried updating the flash player. I have tried restarting the computer. Nothing is working.

Last night, my system was still using Firefox 3.5.8. I was playing Farmville on Facebook and everything was working fine. This morning, I log onto my computer and find that I am upgraded to Firefox 3.6. I have been trying to play Farmville all morning, and the Adobe Flash Player keeps crashing. I have tried to update the Flash Player. I have tried restarting the computer. Nothing is working.

# Open Tools->Add-Ons->Plugins, find Shockwave Flash, and press Disable
# Hold down the '''Windows logo key''' and press '''R''' to bring up the ''Run'' dialog.

# Open the Adobe folder
# Right click on the Flash Player folder and press '''Rename'''. Type in ''Old Flash Player'' as the new name.
# Go back to the Application Data or AppData folder. (On Windows XP, click '''Up''' in the toolbar. On Windows 7 or Vista, click AppData in the address bar)
# Open the Macromedia folder and repeat step #5

Why when updating the software on my iPad 2 ( as I was encouraged on iTunes) it wiped out my calendar and contacts list. All is gone that I spent hours putting them in the iPad.

I am new with the iPad. I opened iTunes hooked the cable up to sync and it asked me if I wanted to update the software. Not knowing any better I said yes. So when it was done, well all my information was gone, wiped out. So do I have to enter the information all over again. This never happened with my windows based computers. Help please.

Please try the offline installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section. There will be three (3) installers. Since you're on Windows 8.x, ignore the installer for ActiveX Control, as Microsoft embeds Flash Player in Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x systems. You'll want to download the 'Flash Player for Firefox - NPAPI' installer file. If you also use Opera browser you'll want to download the 'Flash Player for Opera - PPAPI' installer file.

Why do I get a message every time I open an email to update the flash which I've done 4 times and restarted. Plus I can't attach anything since updating to 5.0

There are two different versions of Flash for Windows PC's. One for IE called the ActiveX version, and one for other browsers known as the Plugin version. Both of those versions of Flash should appear in the Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs.
Your listing of Installed Plugins doesn't show that you even have Adobe Flash installed for Firefox. 
1.Download the Flash setup file from here: 
[http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. 
Save it to your Desktop. 
2. Close Firefox using File > Exit 
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, 
{XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
* On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen).

How do I update the Flash Pro

Creative Cloud alerted me that there was an update for Flash Pro, but it has failed repeatedly. I get a message that the update failed and asks me to try again, but it keeps failing. How do I fix this problem?

Adobe: Why Not Update The Photoshop Download Package to 13.0.1?

Just for grins I downloaded the Adobe CS6 software again (all 1.17 GB of it) and compared it to what I downloaded before. It's the same - 13.0.0.
Why the heck doesn't Adobe update their download package to the latest revision?
Who in their right mind at Adobe thinks it's a good idea to have customers download and try software with egregious bugs like the Text Layer Corruption problem or the Layer Bounds Slowdown problem or any of the other bunches and bunches of bugs fixed in 13.0.1?
Anticipating the answer "the prospective customers will immediately get the update notices and go through that process, and thus will be testing 13.0.1"...
Let me get this straight - you want potential customers to go through a 1+ GB download process, try to start using the software and immediately then have to download tens or hundreds of megabytes more software? What, to show off your wonderful, reliable update process? Are you nuts?
Adobe, you seem to be mired in processes that don't work. Don't you think it's time maybe to re-evaluate them?

You could certainly be correct. I always install from physical media, so I do not know all the in-and-outs of the download files. I also will manually update my Adobe programs, via the Adobe AutoUpdater, so do not pay close attention to when the downloadable, executable files are posted.
However, and especially on the Premiere Pro forums, I do see the timing of the release of updates, both for Adobe Updater, and then for the stand-alones. As the announcements of such releases usually come from Adobe Staff, I have asked them questions on why certain timing differences exist, and the comments above are predicated on their responses.
I have never asked about updating the trials, or downloadable program packages, as those have never affected me before. I can only speculate that it takes a few more days to get the full package ready, than to do even the downloadable executable update, but could well be incorrect.
Also, I can see the potential for lag between an update, and getting that newer version onto physical media - also, I would imagine that Adobe and its resellers would want to clear the shelves of the earlier version (by this, I mean updated "versions," and not upgraded versions.). If I buy my media from Adobe, I anticipate that I might, or might not get the latest, update, so the first thing that I do, unpon installation, is to use Adobe AutoUpdater, to check - usually through Bridge for my suites.

Why isn't the Flash playing in new Dreamweaver site?

Can anyone tell me why a flash movie isn't playing on this site? We just took a site live that was created with Dreamweaver CS5 and it included a Flash file that is not "live." Is it obvious to anyone why this might be? During the upload to the host, my Internet connected crashed, but it appears all of the files are now loaded.
The Flash should be appearing on top of the big ball that has crackle (left side of screen). The Flash movie is a hand holding the earth that is spinning.

You could try for a test to insert a swf-file into your index.html from which you know that it works and/or revise the earth-swf file again.

[iPhone] Updating the new SDK?

Sorry for asking such a trivial question but are you suppose to download the new SDK (1.8GB) download for 2.1 if you want/need to new SDK. I already have the old one installed and need to update my Xcode so that it works with iPhone OS 2.1 but do I have to download the whole thing again as opposed to a small update patch?

No, it's not trivial. More to the point, it's an infuriating solution. I'm on a 256 DSL line and it takes more than 17 hours - that's right almost an entire day! - to download the SDK. I've sent an email of complaint and called Dev Support with a complaint about this. There's no DVD option, no multi-set package download option. I've had to restart the entire download (anyone got the GetRight equivalent for the Mac?) twice! The first time, after 11 hours!
This is incredibly stupid of Apple. As I remarked to the Dev Support people, the worst part of developing for the Apple is dealing with Apple.
