Why is voicemail delayed?

I just got my first smartphone, an iPhone 6, and i am not getting voicemail notifications until days later.  I see a notification that i missed a call soon after the call but almost always, no voicemail shows up until several days later.  This is really unacceptable service.  I went to a Verizon store to ask about it and they were not able to provide any answers - they only made a note of the problem in my account file.  The issue continues to come up.  For example, just today (Feb 4th) I received a voicemail from January 30th as well as another from 2 days ago.  Does anyone have any solution to this problem? I see that it is a common issue but no answers are provided.

I guess the question is about needing cell. data to actuate 3rd party ringtones.  It seems when I am on WiFi only, at home, or at work, I am experiencing "missed calls", when the phone is with me, ie no ringtone.

Why is voicemail delayed?
created by Verizon Wireless Customer Support in iPhone 6 - View the full discussionsunnyjay,
We always want to make sure your phone is reliable and works great for you! Let's address these concerns. Voice mail does require that cellular data be turned on though you can also absolutely be on wi-fi. We just want to make sure that when turning wi-fi on that we don't turn cellular data off. Voicemails don't use data from your plan. You can check your voicemail with data off by dialing *86 to get the voice version of voicemail but the iPhone doesn't have a notification for that because visual voicemail is the default.
The phone certainly shouldn't require data to get a call though. Does the phone show a missed call when this happens? Is it in areas with good signal?

  • Why is typing delayed in Mountain Lion Mail?

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion typing can be delay quite a few seconds.  Also opening the mail is very slow.  Why and what to do about it.  It's bad enough to be a real problem.  Only happens in mail.

I've noticed this problem while upgrading several computers at my company. What I've found to be good practice is upgrade the RAM when upgrading to MountainLion (Lion as well). Even still, many of our users are on SnowLeopard (10.6) and the RAM requirement doubles from that platform when moving to Lion or MountainLion. In Lion/MountainLion apple recommends a minimum of 2GB, in SL a minimum of 1GB. Most of our users have 4GB either way, it has been observed to make a difference when upgrading the RAM to at least 6GB in Lion/MountainLion. Of course, this is user specific.... My 2 cents for what it's worth

  • Iphone 3GS  voicemail delayed delivery?

A friend left a voicemail last Friday (July 3), and it did not show up on my iphone 3GS until Monday night. Is At&T having a system wide issue? anyone else is experiencing the same problem?

I was just reading an article the other day (I think it was on PC World) about just this topic. Apparently this is a known issue with AT&T and the iPhone, and it has been since iPhone 2G day one. According to what the author was told by AT&T tech support though, AT&T has no intention of doing anything about it, or any explination as to why this is the case.
    (found it: http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/167679/atandtproblems_can_delay_iphonevoicemail.html)
On the other hand, I've received a handful of voicemails since getting the iPhone, and they've all come through right away.

  • Why does the delay in an applescript editor increase by itself?...***

so im trying to write myself a (very simple) auto typer for an mmorpg i play. i found a script for such an application on http://www.sythe.org/archives/438387-how-make-your-own-mac-auto-typer.html and proceeded to edit it for myself. the problem im having is that the delay is set to 3 for every line, but for **** sake, it just keeps slowing down after about a dozen lines. i have tried shortening the application to only 10 lines, and then clicking the continue button, but upon clicking the continue button it simply keeps upping the delay... WHY THE **** MUST YOUR EDITOR NOT WORK APPLE?!?!?!?!?!
and when i had the application set to do about 30 lines, again the frequency of the typing would significantly decrease after it typed my message about a dozen times. my script is as follows:
    tell application "System Events"
              set texttosay to "Sample Text"
display dialog "Text to say:" default answer ""
set texttosay to the text returned of the result
              repeat
                        activate application "Old School RuneScape"
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
      delay 3
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
display dialog the "Do you want to quit?" buttons {"Continue", "Quit"} default button 1
if the button returned of the result is "Quit" then
                                  exit repeat
                        end if
              end repeat
    end tell

try it this way: save the following as an application (not as a script) and run it.
    property texttosay : "Sample Text"
    on run
display dialog "Text to say:" default answer ""
set texttosay to the text returned of the result
    end run
    on idle
              tell application "System Events"
if frontmost of process "Old School RuneScape" is false then
set frontmost of process "Old School RuneScape" to true
                        end if
      keystroke texttosay
      keystroke return
                        return 3
              end tell
    end idle
this solves a couple of problems:
it keeps the script from constantly trying to activate the OSR app
there's no context shift from system events to OSR; the app is activated by system events itself
is removes the delay commands and replaces them with a 3 second idle loop. an idle loop puts the app to sleep while a delay command merely halts the execution of the script. the former is much more efficient fromt he processor's perspective.

  • Why does voicemail fill up?

I've probably got only about 20 minutes worth of voicemail saved on my iPhone 5, yet whenever I get a new voicemail the phone says something like "voicemail at 90% need to remove some old messages".
With the cost of memory now, obviously it should be easy to store hours of voice messages for practically free, so I wonder why the limitation on voicemail messages is so low?   Is there any way I can have unlimited (or at least, say, several hours worth) voicemail memory?   Are the voicemail limitations just legacy for years ago when memory was expensive?

    Hi Suzy,
Hmm, I gotta figure out a good way to do this that doesn't interfere with all my email accts.  I'm basically using a yahoo account for email and my company uses google mail so I login to google for work.
I'm gonna spend a little more time working on this but it is getting to be a little more effort than I thought (I'm pretty lazy LOL).
    Thanks again for the suggestion!

  • Local vs. Remote Response Why such a delay?

I'm trying to find out why there is such a difference
in query finish times and how to improve the time.
ftp is fast between the machines.
The network folks say everthing is ok there though
    the sniffer sees many Parses.
Changing the arraysize in SQL*Plus makes no real diff.
When running a query to a spool file on the local
windows 2000 machine the time to finish the job is
    aprox 1 min.
When the same query to a spool file is run connecting
from a remote machine (Sun Solaris) - the time is aprox 5 Min.
Both are run in SQL*Plus, 8.1.7
both are selecting * form a table with 95,000 rows.
doing a full scan as expected
Trace on the local shows the fetch line
fetch - local fetch from unix
    count - 954 count - 954
    cpu - 0.08 cpu - 2.85
    elapsed - 2.55 elapsed - 3.76
    disk - 1069 disk - 1074

I've seen this happen on rare occasions when a table is very wide due to having lots of columns or because of
how the columns are defined and the overall row length is long. Does this describe your table? I'm not sure what
the solution really is if that's the case. I've seen the speed/memory of the computer make a difference when this
does happen. I know we had a user running a wide query in an app complain about the time it took to run and we
found out it took 2-3 minutes on their PC, 2 seconds on the server and anywhere between 8 seconds and 3 minutes
to run on the client side depending on the PC.

  • Why such a delay in On Demand programming

I've been waiting for 2 weeks for The Walking Dead. There is over a week delay in the .latest episodes of Bob's Burgers, American Horror Story as well. This is ridiculus. I was told it would take 24-48 hours for the shows to post. And for a long time that was accurate. But the delay has gotten longer and longer. The content is available by the networks on their websites but I have Verizon service because I prefer to watch tv on my TV!!! Please update this content!!!

I can't speak for the other shows, but Bob's Burgers has only had one new episode this season (10/5), which has been up On Demand since the week it aired.  So you can't complain about shows not showing up On Demand when they haven't even aired.

  • Why does recording delay change?

so yesterday i recorded vox and acoustic gtr totally fine. then i went to add bass today and i get a huge recording lag in placement of recorded audio. what changed this? everythings been stable for months. do i really have to go through all this recording delay calculation trouble just to have it work right again? seems totally ridiculous.
    cory

Did anything at all change between yesterday and today? Did you add any latency inducing plug-ins (or are you using any currently)?
As well, updating your profile, as far as equipment goes, might help zero in on your problem.

  • Why are voicemails backed up but not restored?

I got an iPhone 5S and created an iTunes backup of my i5 to transfer over.  Everything except voicemails are sent over.
Out of 40 voicemails, only 5 or so are transferred.  Basically only the voicemails that are live on AT&T have transferred, im assuming the rest auto deleted themsevles (I think AT&T only retains them for a short time).  However I've taken a backup extractor and can see ALL of my message are indeed present in the backup.  I know I can export them to my PC but is there any way to get them to restore to my new device?

When one restores an iPhone from its own backup, visual voicemail is also restored. However, when one restores a new iPhone from a backup from a previous phone, the voicemails fail to restore. This occurred between my 3G to 4s, and again from the 4s to a 5s. Restoring the 4s once from its own backup resulted in voicemail recovery.
My only explanation is that when a different SIM card is used, voicemails cannot restore as one would otherwise expect. Perhaps voicemails are inexplicably tied to their SIMs. Unfortunately, newer models of iPhones tend to use exceedingly different sizes, rendering one possible fix unpursuable. iCopyBot is the other possible solution: you can extract the voicemails from the backup and restore them onto the new iPhone individually.

  • Why is email delayed since iOS 6?

My gmail has always received messages right away when sent to me, notifications pop right up.  Since the upgrade, my email seems to come 15 minutes late now.  I sent myself an email at 9:00 AM, it popped up at 9:15 but showed a time in the inbox of 9AM.  All settings are still the same, yet the emails are very very late now.  Any fix for this?  My settings are PUSH for email too.  Kinda annoying me getting important work messages 15 minutes late.

I was having this trouble with Gmail as well, incredibly frustrating seeing emails appear immediately on my computer and tablet and having NOTHING come through the phone.  Searched through the comment boards and found this link re setup and Gmail is now working perfectly.  Not sure if this fix will work for you but figured I'd pass it along!  My problem, apparently, was that I setup Gmail as Gmail instead of setting it up as a Microsoft Exchange account.  I deleted the initial Gmail account setup and set it up again as they advised and am now getting emails immediately; no more delay!

  • Why does voicemail NOT tell you when a message was received?

They used to but now I have NO IDEA when someone called me and left a message unless I check previous calls, which isn't always reliable!

        pamieland,
Being able to check voicemails when you miss a call is absolutely important! Let's get this fixed and you back to a reliable phone.
    *When did this start?
*What device make and model do you have?
*How were you receiving notifications before?
*Do you have basic voicemail or visual voicemail?
Take a look at the comparison http://vz.to/1ulZsVD .

  • HT203521 Why such a delay in the sync function of iCal ?

I am running a MacBookPro and iPhone5S.  I have been successfully using iCloud and iCal for several years now across numerous iPhones and just in the last 3 days, I can load an appointment into my MBP and several hours later it still does not appear on the iPhone calendar.
I have tried resetting the devices.  I have turned iCloud off and on, on both devices separately and simultaneously, nothing is getting me back to instantaneous syncing.  I used to be able to load my MBP and then watch my iPhone make the identical update sitting alongside me.  This is incredibly frustrating right now.  Especially when I load data into a calendar event to take to a meeting and then its not there when I have walked 30 minutes to the appointment.
    Anyone have some advice ?

  • Why does Mail delay for up to 30 seconds before sending messages?

This did not  happen in Mountain Lion and it's one of a number of annoying new things I'm encountering in Mavericks.
Every time I compose an email and hit "Send" the mail goes into the outbox and sits there for a while - sometimes a long while (up to 10 seconds or more) before it gets sent.
Not only that: I then get a message in "Mail activity" that a much larger number of messages is being sent. Even if I'm only sending one, "Mail activity" tells me that 5, 6, 10  messages are being sent.
Is anyone else wresting with these really annoying issues in Mail?

Double-checking all settings is good. Along the way, one thing to try:
Have a look at your SMTP server settings to see if the port is set to "default" or "custom".  If it is "default" try switching to custom using one of the numbers listed under "default". That fixed it for me on one of my accounts.
(To do all this:  Mail, Preferences, Accounts, Outgoing Mail Server, Edit SMTP server list, Advanced.)

  • Experiencing Excessive Dropped Calls - Voicemail Delays - iPhone Freezing

I've been having problems with excessive dropped calls (on speaker, headset, handset).
Any conversations today (Sat 6/15) longer than a few (2-5) minutes have been dropped!!!!
I have had two (2) very important calls today that I have had to attempt between 9-16 times due to this...
Also... I received a missed call at exactly 6:32pm but did not get the message until 7:02pm...
    WHAT IS GOING ON????

Have you done a reset (hold sleep/wake button and home button until the Apple logo appears)? Or a restore?
If neither of these ideas correct the problem, you will need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar - http://apple.com/retail
