Why is Yahoo screening my internet searches and denying me access to websites like parts of CBC?
Why is it that yahoo has started filtering my internet usage? I get messages like:
"We did not find results for thumbnail cbc because SafeSearch is active and your query contains some restricted word(s). Try the suggestions below or type a new query above.
To search for thumbnail cbc, change your SafeSearch preferences."
I do not use yahoo for anything! Yahoo has been denying me access to certain websites that I've been accessing for a long time. This used to only seem to affect some video content, now I'm having problems accessing all kinds of websites. Is this a virus? How do I get rid of this? The only solution I have found is to use internet explorer and I much prefer firefox!
If you see the problem with Fireox but not with Internet Explorer, then it does seem to be a Firefox related problem, rather than say globally installed software or something to do with your Internet Provider.
I note in the UK (Great Britain) new connections to Internet Providers now offer porn etc filters.
Two possibilities I immediately think of are

Hi, I connected to the internet in a different location using ethernet cable and when I got home websites like yahoo wont get to the sign in page and other sites too...weirdly facebook and google works ...please help...tearing my hair out!!!and now, when i tried to check again my network preference below the airport tab is showing a message that
"my airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the internet!"
then after seconds it will goes back to the first message that
"airport has the self assigned IP address etc....."
i don't know whats going on now!
airport tab is not showing green color anyway! i'ts always in yellow!

Whenever I open Firefox 4.0 Beta 6, and try to long onto websites like Hotmail, Facebook RuneScape etc. it won't let me... I'm finding it frusrtrating and annoying since I cannot use Firefox 4.0 Beta 6. It works on other accounts excluding mine - What is this crap rigged or something? I have to resort to crappy Google Chrome and Safari since it messed up on both of my computers... Why does Firefox beta4 keep google searching and freeze?
Whenever I click google from my firefox beta4 page Google does the search and then keeps loading and never completes. It allows nothing else to be done except close the window.
Yes, all other web pages that I visit including my bookmarks load with no issues.

- For the reset that T.Lange describes you have to hold longer. Apple says:
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

Maybe the speed of your internet connection has some bearing on it?
But you could give this a try - reset Safari and see if that helps at all.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -
I am unable to access my gmail on my iPad air. I can access my yahoo mail . I can also access both gmail and yahoo on my Kindle fire. What is the oroblem with gmail and iPad?
There is no problem with Gmail and iPad; I use it all the time.
Check to make sure that you have entered the correct information in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars for your Gmail account. -

Hi TheJohnParr, for your Thunderbird (email client) issue, I suggest having a different question for that, and we could focus on your Firefox search engine issue in this thread.
You can review, disable, and usually remove extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Command+Shift+a
* Tools menu > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

By the way, the address bar works a bit different from the search boxes (home page search box or toolbar search box). If you enter a single word without spaces in the address bar (e.g., hobbit or mozilla.org) then Firefox will first check with your service provider on whether it is a known server name. Sometimes these queries are hijacked by your service provider to show you search results. By comparing your search in the address bar and the search box, you can see whether this is the issue. -

To reinstall:
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities or File menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
7. When finished quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the OS X installation. -

For some reason, there is a 1 inch thick black bar that appeared at the bottom of my screen. It shifted my whole screen upwards and now I cant access my top row apps. The ipod still works fine, but I cant figure out how to get it back to normal. Any ideas?
Try the sstandard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost

- Restore from backup
- Restore to fctory defaults/new IPod.

I am trying to send information to one of the contacts that is normally in my outlook address book. That book appears to have gone away. The only contacts I have are those in icloud. I would think they would sync. Apparently i need to do that manually? Many of the contacts that have formerly lived in outlook do not show up in icloud. ?????
If it works on one Firefox 3.6.10 installation, it should work on the other - assuming both PC's have exactly the same version of Norton installed, including that Firefox Toolbar extension. Another possibility is that Norton uses a different version of their software on WinXP than they use on Vista.
Tools > Addons > Extensions - does the Norton Toolbar show as being incompatible?
You could try forcing a Norton program update to see if their Firefox extension gets updated. -
I was working on calendar and opened too many tabs. I am showing 9 tabs open and it affects other sebsites I am now trying to access. The webpage is grayed out and non-accessible. I do not need all the tabs. How do I close them?
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
