Why is zoom and adding text so slow?

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro XI on Mac OS (Yosemite). My pinch zoom using trackpad is extremely laggy (but the regular zoom that snaps to a fixed %zoom is fine). Also, the content editing add text tool is extremely slow; when I type ten letters, each letter appears one every two seconds or so.

Acrobat is not currently officially compatible with Yosemite, so problems are to be expected...

Is there a way to zoom and wrap text in iPad Safari?

Sometimes when I zoom text in Safari on my IPad 2 with a two-finger spread gesture, it is still not large enough for me to read comfortably. If I zoom to even larger text, some of the text disappears on the left and right of the screen. Is there a way to zoom and make the text wrap if it gets too large for the screen, similar to what I do on my iMac when I use Cmd-+?

Why is Lion and VMWare 3 so slow?

Hi,
I run VMWare Fusion 3 (Windows 7) on my MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 4GB RAM) with Snow Leopard and it runs fine (speed acceptable with a lag now-and-then). I loaded VMWare Fusion 3 (Windows 7) on my faster iMac (3.1 GHz Core i5, 4 GB RAM) with Lion and it runs too slow to use. The speed performance is absolutely poor. I've played with different settings: allocating more, and also less, resources to VMWare, but when I open a program, I get spinning multi-colour wheels and lags. The machine has become unusable even running programs in Mac OS.
Having used the same applications on my MacBook Pro, I know it's not me being impatient.
I’ve tried various advice found on the support forums, and still no luck.

Fusion 3.1.3 is the minimum to run on Lion. Fusion 4 is recommended.
4GB of RAM on your host is a bit on the low side. Lion uses a little more RAM than Snow Leopard so try to keep your VMs at 2GB of RAM for Win7. (Allocating more RAM will use take too much and not leave enough for OSX. Allocating less will make Win7 perform slower.) And unless you have a very good reason, only allocate one virtual CPU (vCPU.) More so because both your machines are note quad-core. The host OS needs some CPU time so allocating 2 vCPU on a dual-core host leaves no core available to the host After that, the issue will probably be that your Macbook Pro is limited to SATA 1.5Gbps and if you didn't upgrade to a 7200 rpm drive.
I have a 2008 MBP, 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM. Ordered from Apple with the 200GB/7200rpm drive. I run Fusion4 with a Win7pro VM. If the VM is running, I end up with about 1GB of free RAM. Opening MSAccess & Crystal Reports in the VM, and Safari & Mail in OSX is about the limit of what I can do simultaneously. By this point, lags are quite often, but by limiting anything disk intensive on the Mac, you should get reasonable performance on the VM, depending on what you're doing. (i.e.: if the VM is disk intensive and you had the 5400rpm drive, then your VM performance will suffer, which of course followss the caveat YMMV.) For me, 2GB for Win7 means I'm limited on some of the MSAccess databases I can run.

Gradient to white, scaling and adding text help?

Hello, I'm trying to make a composite image for for a class, my idea was to take a side shot of a guy's head, cut it out, shillotte it and fade the back of his head to white. In the dad center of the picture I want to place a much smaller portrait picture cut to an oval.
As for the text I need to place the guy's name across the top and then fill in the area between the 2 oppisite facing shillottes and the central picture with the text about the guy.
I've managed to figure out how to cut the pics tthe way I want them and reverse the one, but how do I size them correctly? The one in the middle is 220x315, it's the only pic of the guy I could find... the 2 shillottes however are from a pic that was 3600x2400.

You might investigate using java script for your furniture presentation. There are a lot of possibilities out there. Some that I've come across are:
Jalbum a free application that has over 100 different skins/themes. This demo page shows some of them: Jalbum Examples. Most are customizable so that you can hide the control bar, set the background color, auto start, etc.

Why are contact and calendar entries painfully slow?

About half the time when I try to enter a new calendar item or a new contact, the keystrike response is so slow it is impossib;e to complete the entry. This is with an iphone 4s runing IOS 7.0

You either sync your contacts & calendars over the air with iCloud or by USB with your computer...not both at the same time. Doing both will create duplicates.

When adding text in XI Pro, some characters appear and some don't. A space is substituted for the characters that don't print. How do I fix this?

When using Adobe XI Pro and adding text, some numbers are not displayed. In their place, a blank appears. At first I thought it was a weak keyboard battery, but the same data appears fine in Word. I've never seen this happen before. Does anyone have any suggestions? (Windows 7 Pro)

I don’t know the font. (One of our other employees had experienced the problem.) We did discover that if we saved the document and then reopened it, the text was all there.

Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4 and later.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the about:config page.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

I am have problems with firefox 5& 6. It does not display correctly. I have tried the no squint and the internal zoom. Some pages load ok, others like yahoomail, load tiny unless I zoom and then other pages have problems. Why? What else can I be doing?

I am frustrated. With the no squint, which has a mind of its own, then some pages are fine, in others the type is too big or too small for the frames. If I use the default Firefox zoom that is no better. I have to set things for like 130 percent and am constantly having to click on the zoom and change things. I never had that with previous versions? Why can't Firefox just go back to displaying text in the correct frames at a decent size?

I have played with all the options in no squint and the default zoom thing. My email list in yahoo remains tiny tiny, other things do not. If I enlarge that, then other things are too big. I never had this problem with older versions of firefox. I never had used any zoom features, it all sized itself correctly.
To troubleshoot, I tried to open the same things with chrome, and it had much less of a problem sizing the type etc.
I am kind of at my wits end here.

Hello Apple.
It seems you have gone to great lengths to improve accessibility in many areas of the iPad. Why was this obvious problem with icon text size missed? (It's not with the Mac.). And for so long too.
Do you employ people with actual accessibility problems to help you do UI design?
I think too, that some buttons are too close for people who might have motor control problems.
I love my iPad but I fear as I age, the iPad might not keep up with me.

I use the Tools > Annotate > Add Text feature, and when I click away after adding text, it automatically changes the text box size such that the last letter -- or last word -- gets bumped off into an invisible line below it, forcing me to manually adjust every single text box. It is highly annoying when trying to complete PDF forms (e.g. job applications).
It appears to be a glitch, quite honestly, an error resulting from Apple's product design. Has it been fixed in the new operating system (for which they want $30)?
