Why isn't Apple selling the 2GB iPod Shuffles?

I had a 1GB one (it's a bit old now) and it finally started breaking down (it will randomly shut off during the middle of a song and then turn back on)
I don't want to buy the new one, and I would prefer a 2GB over the 1GB, but why isn't Apple selling it on their website?
(Hope this was the right place to ask this. I checked the other categories before coming here)

They're still selling refurbished 2GB shuffles in pink, green and blue...

Just out of warranty. This is a software issue. everything was ok until the software update. Apple just need to sort it out.

Well, since you've had the same problem, with three different phones, that all use different size sim cards, it seems pretty obvious the problem is with your carrier/coverage & nothing to do with your phone or sim card.

Why won't Apple activate the FM receiver feature of the Broadcom BCM4335 chip?
I paid for it, it uses less energy, less bandwidth, during emergencies, we would have radio access & FEMA would like it activated.
I asked an Apple tech on chat and they said there is no FM capability on the phone. I asked if my iPhone has a Broadcom chip and they ended the chat. I had to give them my phone number twice, but they never called back with me back to answer the question. According to NPR the chip is activated in other countries.

could it be because the iphone6 don't have an Broadcom BCM4335 chip?

I don't know much about samba, but I have had very similar problems with netbios in windows, I find it to be very unreliable and I think you would be better off with ftp, but that's just my opinion. Apart from that, are you sure you have the necessary ports opened, and so do they? And you might need a line in /etc/hosts.allow

Apple has not explained why, so nobody here could tell you for sure. Perhaps to keep it in line with naming polices for computers (all iMacs are iMacs, all MacBook Airs are MacBook Airs) rather than the iPhone.

Why doesn't Apple list the changes included with each iteration of iPhone updates? They always post a detailed list of changes for all other major software updates. I wonder why the same is not true for the iPhone, leaving us all guessing and wondering...

Just to add, Ansuz82 pointed out, Apple's track record is that they don't really ever give full published details about what their updates include in any of their products really. If the iPhone is your first product by Apple you may not be aware of this. To them, saying Bug Fixes is enough. If they publicly add more info, it means they really wanted to get that point out. eg: the 1.1.1 mainly just talked about iTunes WiFi store. 1.1.2 mainly talked about the Tiff exploit fixed and keyboard updates for languages. However, with all, a lot more does get changed than just the key points mentioned. And by a lot, I don't mean a lot that you will see. Have to remember, they are still ironing out the OS for the iPhone. A lot of changes to them is just cleaning up and fixing known bugs that many of us as users may not even know exisit (though we see the outcome of them when apps colide and crash each other).

I just bought the latest ipod shuffle to use with another older one. But when I tried to download updates and charge the new shuffle it is nowhere to be found. The new download is not recognized

I just bought the latest ipod shuffle and want to put my library songs on it. Why when I tried to install the latest version of i-tunes nothing happened. My new pod is connected to my laptop USB 2.0 port but it is nowhere to be found. Why is this new shuffle pod not recognized?

You downloaded iTunes AND installed it, right? What you downloaded is the installer, which installs the iTunes app (and other things like drivers) on your computer. You then have to run the iTunes app.
If you did that already, make sure the USB docking cable's plug is completely inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack, as shown in this document

When connected, the shuffle's light should come ON. That indicates it is getting power. If it blinks orange (at least initially), that indicates it is connecting for data.
If you are good so far, in iTunes, the sidebar (along left side of window) may be hidden. If it is, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. When the shuffle is connected, it should be listed in the sidebar, below DEVICES. Does it appear there?

Does anyone out there uses the Waterfi 2GB iPod shuffle for swimming and is it really waterproof ? It is not for sale at Apple but on a swim website .
I assume they have the rights to secondary waterproof the item and sell legitimately ?

Have you got your local machine's hostname in your hosts file?
I remember I used to have problems like this, until I found the little gem in the wiki about adding the output of 'hostname' to /etc/hosts
