Why isn't Apple softwear updating?

The Apple Softwear Updater states that there are updates to iTunes and Safari and they start to download. The downloading wheel just spins and nothing is happening after >3 hours. Is anyone else having this issue?

Oops, my bad. Make sure you have your Firewall and any other security programs on your computer turned off. Try the update again. If it still fails, try rebooting your computer.

Just out of warranty. This is a software issue. everything was ok until the software update. Apple just need to sort it out.

Why isn't my viewer updating?

I have a Newsstand-enabled viewer that already has 3 folios in it that work absolutely fine.
Earlier this week, I got approval for another folio which I cleared for sale today. In DPS, I published the folio (obviously with the exact same bundle ID), public, retail, publication date today etc.
I cannot see any reason why the viewer doesn't update. Does it just take a few hours to update or something? It's really not making any sense at all to me.

Did you use the appropriate application Adobe ID to create the new folio?
Yes, absolutely.
Did you use iTunes Connect to specify an in-app purchase for that folio?
- Yes, and it submitted for review early last week and gained approval early this week.
Did you specify the same Product ID when you published the folio and when you created the in-app purchase?
- Yes, I have checked them both time and again to make sure they are exactly the same and they are.
Did Apple approve the in-app purchase?
- Yes, earlier this week. I had it as 'cleared for sale: no' so that I could control the publication date. Today I changed that to cleared for sale from 'now' and now it displays with my other IAPs with the green circle and 'Ready for sale'.

Why don't Apple security updates show up in my Macbook Pro app store

Running Mounbtain Lion 10.8.4 on MacBook Pro late 2008. Lately the Mac system and security updates don't show up, for example this latest 10.8.5 and security update 2013-0004. I also believe that other updates may not be showing up, but I only get seperate notifications for the Apple system updates. I have had this problem for many months.
I go to the apple site to download them.
There is another macbook in our local network that does not have this problem, both Apple updates showed up and were installed.

Thanks for the Command-R tip, I was not aware that you need to be signed into the App Store as an admin but it did the trick and the OS update showed up.
There used to be a security recommendaton from Apple itself I believe to safeguard the administrative account by creating a Standard User account for everyday computing and an Admin User Account that is only used when needed (and typically while using the Standard account). But, if OS updates are not showing up automatically while using a Standard User account, you are missing out on potentially critical OS updates.

Why did the Apple TV update remove "home movies" from the computer option in Apple tv?

AApple TV auto updated. 22 sept 2014. Most of the movies I have on my iMac were under itunes as "home movies". The Apple TV update removed the ability to see home movies in the "computer" option in Apple tv. I can see them on my iMac, but no longer have access thru my Apple tv. I can still see the few that are physically in "movies" in iTunes, but the Apple TV will now only show them. Thanks

Why wont the apple software update show up in my programs?

So itunes told me one day that i needed to reinstall because an application was missing so i went tho the website to reinstall. However, it wouldn't let me reinstalll because it couldn't remove the apple software update application. I went to the add remove programs tab and it said he application could not be found when i tried to uninstall it. I tried downloading safari to see if i could re-download the apple update but i couldn't get it from there either. So now i have no itunes and i really need help:(

with that said is it okay to drag the HD icon to the dock on the right side of the seperator?
i made the earlier mistake of dragging by accident into launchpad adding hundreds of icons into it. launchpad cleaner took care of it.
i would like to have the icon on my dock if possible. anyways thanks! all!

Time-stamping during code signing ensures that the signed files are still verifiable after certificate expiration.
Apple is doing this with software distributed for Windows (e.g., QuickTime, iTunes, etc.), so why not for updates for the Mac OS?
Of course, for its Windows software, Apple seems to be using a code-signing certificate issued by Verisign.
This is a really lame problem to have that can be avoided entirely by following basic best practices for code-signing.

The problem is that Apple has not incorporated that update into their regular system updates, which is the foundation of this question and the problem that most users will have. I don't mind accessing the database myself, but it should not be the responsibility of the user to do so. Wouldn' t you agree?

Why isn't apple updating time zones

Samoa has recently changed time zones, moving to the other side of the dateline. Both my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and my iPad 2 are not displaying correctly. I am going there on business for two months and need my Macs to be correct. My PCs runing old XP were correct on the day of the change!!! What's up Apple. I am embarrassed, and this could generate more than just passive complaints from people who have invested in your computers. I have checked sys updates daily and NOTHING.

Birthdays in iCal, Address Book, iPhone. Why isn't Apple listening?

I have seen this complaint over and over again. I have sent countless feedback emails. Why is it that Apple just doesn't care about these VERY BASIC things? Their attention to detail is amazing, yet they choose to ignore things that scream incompetence....
Why is it that I can sync birthdays from my Address Book in to iCal. (Awesome feature by the way) Yet I cannot set a reminder of any kind. Does Apple just think this isn't important to people? Do they just not care? I run into these types of problems with almost every application they have. There will be those one or two little things in each that begs the questions: What are they thinking? How could they have missed this? Why aren't they listening to people? Another upgrade I paid for, and it's still not fixed?

Frustrates me that I have to pay $6, when it should already have this functionality. However, it's otherwise a useless feature, unless I am reminded of the birthdays, so I'll pay the $6. It's more important to me to know when these birthdays occur.

Apple maps does not update after new roads are built the way google map does. Why not?

From my experience, Apple maps take a bit longer to update compared to Google Maps. Have you checked to see if the new road is found on OpenStreetMap.org? I believe that is one API that Apple Maps pulls from.

Ios 7 bugs and why isn't Apple fixing them?

I am getting really annoyed by some of the glaring bugs ever since ios 7's release, and the fact Apple has released a few updates yet still won't fix some of these bugs......Just some of the bugs I've easily noted:
1. When composing text messages, after you hit send, your message won't appear in the chat windows sometimes until you pull down and release the screen.
2. Spell check will red underline a word, but if you keep typing, the red underline will dissapear so you can't go back and review possible mispelled words.
3. Prior to ios 7, I used to easily be able to copy/paste pictures from the web into a chat window, and the pictures would resize themselves to fit and look properly......now the pictures are usually too large to even tell what they were, or sometimes when you try to do a copy/paste on a picture, it will just copy the URL link and not the picture itself.
These bugs are really annoying, and I'm just really baffled why Apple hasn't fixed this stuff yet!

Yeah, mine is working fine, too, an iPhone 4s with 7.0.4. Sounds like your update did not go well, don't you hate that? I do. And I know it's a hassle but I'd do a restore to factory settings and let it update again to 7.0.4. That will probably fix things nicely. I wasn't keen on updating at all but when Apple stole 3GB of space on both my phone and iPad with an unwanted pushed update file, I eventually gave in and updated them - I at least waited until 7.0.4. Anyway, 7 seems pretty decent and it works well enough.
Before I updated mine, I removed all added apps and other data so it started with a very empty phone. Then after the OS update I re-synced everything back to the phone. Also, I did the update using iTunes and not the pushed update file. It way my only way of rebelling! lol
Do the restore and you should be good to go.

Why isn't Apple adding new episodes?

There was a new episode of Disorderly Conduct - Video On Patrol, that aired several days ago (on February 20th). Apple still doesn't have it on the store yet. Why would this happen? The episode before that, the one from 2/13, Apple added right away. Have they lost the rights to this show or something? If so, then why do they have the already-aired episodes? If not, why aren't they adding the new one? I am beginning to feel ripped off, paying good money for that Season Pass and then Apple doesn't have the episodes? :confused:

Episodes are provided by the show's owners. If they don't provide an episode, or deliver a bad copy that needs to be replaced, all the iTunes Store can do is wait, which is all we can do as well. Amazon doesn't have it yet either, so I'm guessing that Viacom is behind in providing the episode.
