Why isn't ColdFusion supported in Dreamweaver CC anymore?

For some reason Adobe is no longer supporting ColdFusion in the new Dreamweaver CC 2014. CF comments are no longer are highlighted in the code view. In fact CF is not listed among applications, although PHP is. Is Adobe planning on abandoning CF?

Ben Forta wrote a post on his blog last year about the changes to Coldfusion and Dreamweaver.
You can see it here - http://forta.com/blog/index.cfm/2013/6/30/On-Dreamweaver-CC-And-ColdFusion
The main reason seems to be Coldfusion Builder and moving Dreamweaver to do the "client side" aspect of development.

  • Missing ColdFusion Support in Dreamweaver

I can't say it enough and will continue to post until someone at Adobe listens.
What Adobe has done is blindly pull the rug right out from under our feet by deprecating support for ColdFusion in Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver has been the one and only application I and thousands of others have used to code, design and FTP websites for years. Some of us have been using Dreamweaver as far back as when Allaire built it specifically to help ColdFusion developers. Dreamweaver offered ColdFusion tag support, a design view when needed, and an efficient way to FTP files.
It seems what Adobe is telling us now is that Dreamweaver is somehow not the right application for developing ColdFusion websites, but oddly enough the correct one for PHP developers. The only reason I can see that Adobe stripped the support for ColdFusion within Dreamweaver is to sell us CF Builder... which is suspiciously missing from any Creative Cloud subscription. Otherwise there was no real reason to pull support from ColdFusion within Dreamweaver.
What's more, it is going to take me and others weeks to learn a new program and that's time most of us don't have to spare. It's enough to keep up with the browser changes. I am a one man shop, as are many who used Dreamweaver, and every minute we use learning a new program instead of building websites is money lost. So Adobe is costing us money.
The reality for a lot of developers is that we can barely pay the Creative Cloud subscription fees every month, much less purchase a whole new program just because Adobe has forced our hand. I just don't understand why Adobe would drop support for ColdFusion within Dreamweaver when the program was working. It wasn't like the program was broken and the ColdFusion tag support was causing a problem with the program.
All Adobe has done is caused ill will towards their company and probably many developers to go out of business, at the least lose money when the economy is so tight. Thanks Adobe, for nothing.

You can, relatively easily, put the rug back in place. Since you're a CC Subscriber, you can move back to a previous version of DW through the Creative Cloud Desktop App...
    Open the CC Desktop App
    Click Apps tab
Scroll down to filters and versions
    Click previous versions
Download and install an older version of DW
From there, use the older DWCS6 until you have the time and inclination to learn CF Builder or move to another non-Adobe application. There's no reason to sit and struggle with the new non-CF version of DW CC, blow billable hours and miss deadlines due to training.
As far as I've seen, there is no plan to bring any CF support back into DW. Adobe's plan is to move people to the perpetual license CF Builder instead.

  • Why isn't apple support calling me?

I scheduled a phone call with apple support for 9:30 am. I got a phone call at 9:33, with a recorded voice asking me to press 1 to speak to a support person. I pressed 1 and waited on the line. After many minutes of complete silence on the line from Apple, my call was disconnected.
I scheduled another phone call with apple support for 9:45 am. It's now 10:13 and no one has called me!
    Hello????

We are not Apple, only your fellow end-users. Anything someone posts here about Apple's support workload and scheduling would be pure speculation.

  • Why isn't 6600 supported by newest PC Suite?

    Hi!
I'm using 6600 and Windows Vista 64 Bit. As the nokia 6600 is one of the few phones that is not supported by the newest release of Pc Suite, I would like to know the reason. I'm using Windows Vista and therefore I can not use a software which is about 3 years old and so can not support Windows Vista.
Is there a major reason, that the current version of PC Suite doesn't support 6600? How can I get it working?
I just tried to download and install the current release of PC Suite to perform a test. Firtly, PC Suite took over 15 minutes to install on my computer (Intel Conroe 6600, newest mainboards, ...). Secondly, it found my phone but was not able to connect properly :-/ (as I guessed because of the system specs of PC Suite in relation to a 6600)
    So is there any chance?
    Andreas

The 6600 is about 4-5 years old as a model. It is the last Nokia phone based on Symbian/S60 (Series 60) software, which is using non-Nokia PC connectivity stuff that comes from Symbian and a company with the name Intuwave.
All phones based on the S60 platform and released since then (after the 6600) use a different PC connectivity mechanism, which PC Suite v6.* supports (and PC Suite v6 is also the version where a common PC Suite version for all models started, instead of the previous situation where there was a different PC Suite version for each phone, and has been in effect since then).
So, there is no way to get PC Suite 6.* to support the 6600, and there's probably also no way to get the 6600 specific PC Suite to support Vista (if it doesn't work as-is), because it hasn't been maintained in several years.

  • Why isn't Firefox playing any streaming videos anymore?...On youtube or wherever I go the audio keeps going but the actual video just skips and freezes up the computer..

Any video that is viewable on the internet(youtube, flash, etc.) does not play in Firefox. The video is shown and everything but when I click it the audio begins playing normally and the actual video itself skips horribly and my computer begins to freeze up.

  • Change color of ColdFusion comments in Dreamweaver CC 2014

    Hi All,
I've recently discovered Sublime Text 2, and really like their code coloring theme.  90% of my work still needs to be done in Dreamweaver.  I was able to find a Colors.xml file I could use, that got it very close to looking like sublime text.  The only real problem are ColdFusion comments.
I changed this line in the XML C:\Users\{me}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC 2014\en_US\Configuration\
<syntaxColor id="CodeColor_CFCommentText" text="#585835" bgcolor="#434343" /> from the original ffff99 bright yellow background, but after restarting Dreamweaver, the ColdFusion comments are still lite color text on this bright yellow background.  Horrible.
It seems Dreamweaver CC 2014 removed a lot of ColdFusion options, sad.  Many of us still use it for Front-End work, while ColdFusion Builder works better for back-end.
I really hope there is a way to get a dark color theme into Dreamweaver for ColdFusion.
    Any suggestions?

What Adobe has done is blindly pull the rug right out from under our feet. Dreamweaver has been the one and only application I and thousands of others have used to code, design and FTP websites for years. The reality for a lot of developers is that we can barely pay the Creative Cloud subscription fees every month, much less purchase a whole new program just because Adobe has forced our hand. Adobe needs to reestablish ColdFusion support in Dreamweaver or, based on what I have read in many forums, they will be losing a lot of customers. There are a lot of CF developers looking for an alternative to all of Adobe's products because of this "slap in the face" and I am sure there are companies out their already looking at this enormous opportunity.
I, for one, am looking at other programs to replace everything I use from Adobe because I feel betrayed. Adobe may think they own the market but I am afraid they are going to learn the hard way. If you try to force the growth of the bottom line at the expense of ignoring your customers, you will fail. If you put your customers needs first, the bottom line will follow. Has history taught you nothing?

  • Apple: Why isn't 16:9 a supported format?

This has been bugging me for a couple of years now. And no - I'm not as stupid as the title suggests.
But seriously. When I capture a 16:9 anamorphic file using the correct settings, or having edited and exported a 16:9 sequence... Why is everything squished and squashed when playing it in QTplayer or importing it as a clip in FCP? Or for that matter - why does DVDSP or Compressor not recognize the FCP-exported 16:9 sequence as that?
If this metadata is such a big problem to pass on, I would at least reccomend 16:9 to be the default ratio while they embed a real flag for this! I mean. What format is most used by video-professionals these days? Is it 4:3? Or is it perhaps 16:9?
I know about both square and rectangular pixels, and I know a whole lot of workarounds to get the result as I want it. But they all require manual punch-in, they are all multiple step-processes that take time, and they all have pitfalls. And seriously - even if I get it - people around me don't... I'm kinda getting tired of telling everybody "You have to do this and this stupid thing..."
Aren't these things just supposed to "work"?
    So... Why isn't 16:9 a supported format?

I have to deal with this in my real job and to be honest, it gives me a huge headache; integrating SD, analog and HD material into one show whatever the flavor of the day is - is that video cropped, squished or stretched or letterboxed or pillarboxed....wait, I need that to be stretched from that show and that to be cropped from that show and and and and....
I can't provide a solution as I don't understand it all myself, however, to answer your query of what aspect ratio is predominantly used it is still 4:3 NTSC here in the U.S. Until all programming is HD and everyone has purchased an ATSC tv, I think we'll be stuck with this issue.

  • Why isn't my browser supported?

One of the challenges of delivering desktop-quality software
inside a browser is, well, the browser itself. For more details on
our approach to browser support, its challenges, etc. please see
the posting on the Acrobat.com blog.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/acom
Browsers aren't all the same, and there is a fair amount of
work to get things working right, especially with keyboard
shortcuts and the clipboard. We've focused on the most common
browsers first: Firefox (Mac & Windows), Internet Explorer 6
    and 7, and Safari 3.
For example: We’d like to follow convention and provide
the typical Cmd-B shortcut to make text bold. However, Firefox on
the Mac uses Cmd-B to open bookmarks in the sidebar; so Buzzword
was forced to use Ctrl-B for making text bold.
    For
Firefox under Linux, we're providing limited support. We
have done some testing and we believe it works well, but we're
interested in your feedback. Please be sure to upgrade to the
latest Linux version of Flash Player 9 available at
    http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer,
and also be sure to adjust your preferences as described in the
initial page you'll see when visiting the application in Firefox
    under Linux.
Other browsers may work (Opera, Camino, etc.) to some extent,
but we can’t make assurances that all functions will work.
We appreciate hearing from users who want to give Buzzword a
spin under non-supported browsers, as it helps us focus our efforts
    and testing.

    Hi,
After trying Opera AND Firefox to post a reply to "Why isn't my browser supported?" I'm now using IE (7 not 8 - that's not working, too!). Maybe that's the first thing that should work in all browsers - the forum.
The second thing, and that's why I originally wanted to post something here, is that I had problems typing "&" and "/" in Opera. They don't seem to be at the same key as usual. (I have a german keyboard...):
    Shift + ^1234567890ß´
    Key (normal):   °!“§$%&/()=?`
    Key (buzzword): ^!@#$%^&*()ß`
Additionally everything seems a little bit slow...
    Regards,
    Ireen

  • Why isn't my laptop supported for windows 10?

I recently bought a Satellite E45-B4100 with Windows 8.1. I assumed it would be upgradeable to Windows 10, but it's not on Toshiba's "supported" list. Can I still get Windows 10? And why isn't this laptop supported????

    Satellite E45-B4100 (PSPNAU-001002)
Sure seems peculiar that the following model is supported, but not the E4x-B series. Those in the same part-number family, are almost identical. Maybe some application software?
    Satellite S40-B (PSPNA)

I am totally confused. Why isn't the first iPad supported in iOS 6?

iPhone 3GS: 800 MHz processor (underclocked to 600 i believe)

Why isn't iOS 7 supported on 4th generation iPod?

Same reason any new software cannot be run on any old hardware.
As time goes by, new software requires more and more from the hardware.  Older hardware simply cannot keep up.
This is not odd or unusual in any way.

    1) The best way to relocate the iTunes library folder is to move the entire iTunes folder with all subfolders to the new path, then press and hold down shift as start iTunes and keep holding until prompted to choose a library, then browse to the relocated folder and open the file iTunes Library.itl inside it.
If you've done something different then provide some more details about what is where and I should be able to help.
    2) Purchases on the device should automatically transfer to a Purchased on <DeviceName> playlist, but it my depend a bit on whether automatic iCloud downloads are enabled. If there is a cloudy link then the transfer might not happen. You can use File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. In iTunes you should also check out iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
    3) Backup the device, then immediately restore it. In some cases you need to add a restore as new device into that equation. Obbviously not to be attempted until you're sure all your media is in your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device should it be needed.
    4) I believe there is complimentary 1 incident 90-day support with hardware purchases, but no free software support for iTunes itself. AppleCare gets you a different level of support.
