  • Why isn't facetime installed?

Why can't I find facetime on one of my iMacs?  It's about 1.5 years old.  (Snow Leopard)
It looks like it costs .99 for downloading it, but on one of my SL iMacs (new) it's already installed for free....
I remember reading something about this, (free for some, pay for others) but can't find it now...
Also, I see in the promo page for FaceTIme, that it's only available for FaceTime enabled webcams.... how can I tell if my iMac has a facetime enabled iSight? (How can I tell the specs on my iSights)

It is included with Lion but not Snow Leopard so if your new iMac came with Lion that's why it is there and not there on your 1.5 year old iMac.
    It's possible - http://www.apple.com/support/mac/facetime/getstarted/

  • Why isn't FlashPlayer installing correctly?

I'm using version 3.6.15 of Firefox. I updated FlashPlayer as Firefox suggested to version 10.2.152.32. I've downloaded and installed the new version of FlashPlayer (meaning I saved the file, opened it, clicked run, accepted the user agreement, and it installed and said done). But it isn't being added on to Firefox and I still can't view flash stuff in Firefox. I searched Firefox help but have not found a solution. Any suggestions? I don't want to start using IE, but it seems I may have to. : (

Try to run the Flash installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as... > Administrator).
You can also check to see if you can find the Flash plugin file NPSWF32.DLL and copy the file to the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.
Copy the Flash plugin file (NPSWF32.DLL) to the plugins folder within the Firefox program folder.
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\
You can find the Flash plugin files here after you have run the Flash installer:
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\

  • Why isn't newly installed hard drive available for startup?

    Here's what I did:
    1. Backed up Macbook Pro data to external drive.
    2. Installed new hard drive in Macbook Pro
    3. Put old drive in hd enclosure
    4. Connected old drive in enclosure to Macbook Pro via USB
    4. Formatted new drive using Disk Utilities from old drive.
OK, everything seems to be fine and the new drive icon is on the desktop BUT the new drive is NOT available as a startup disc. It works as a regular disc as far as transferring files, but doesn't show up in the "select disc for startup" window. What's wrong? Thanks.
(I'm using good ol' Snow Leopard.)

    You did something incorrectly:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Why isn't photoshop installing but everthing else is ?

When i try to install Photoshop it says "You are running an operating system that Photoshop no longer supports. Refer to the system requirements for a full list of supported platforms. What does this mean ? What can i do to fix this ?

  • Why isn't the App Store letting me install and update apps to my iPod Touch 3 Gen.?

Why isn't the app store letting me update or install Apps?

Because like a computer, you always need more space that the download size takes up.  One reason is that the app needs to be expanded to be installed.

  • I just installed FF, and I want a SIMPLE way to copy all my bookmarks. Why isn't there a menu item to do this? The need seems OBVIOUS!

I simply want to make a copy of all of my wife's "Favorites", i.e. your Bookmarks. In FireFox, PrntScrn won't do it, Windows "Snippets" won't do it, and any HELP answers I've seen are hidiously complex. The need/desire to have a paper copy or Word copy of her bookmarks (of course, WITH URL's) seems completely, blatantly obvious. Why all the secrecy? Why isn't there a MENU item to make a copy of the list of Bookmarks??
And no, I'm not going to try AGAIN, AGAIN, AGAIN to do the Export/HTLM solution, whatever that means. Sheesh. I'm 10 minutes into FireFox and I'm ready to go back to I.E.

  • HT203175 Why won't iTunes install properly? It gives the start up error "The procedure entry point JSStringGetUTF8String could not be located in the dynamic link library WebKit.dll"

I can't get iTunes to install/start on my HP laptop. When I start/install the current version, I get the following error "The procedure entry point "JSStringGetUTF8String could not be located in the dynamic link library WebKit.dll". Why isn't this dll included in the distribution? What do I do to get iTunes to install on my 64-bit AMD HP laptop.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
    Does iTunes launch properly now?
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:

  • Why we need to Install HR Global

    Dear Guru's
Why we need to Install HR Global, because its an Important module for the Ebs, it should come when we Install Ebs know, why it require to Install again..
    This is just for Knowledge..
    Regards
    Suresh

    Hi Suresh,
hrglobal isn't really an applications module, exactly. It's a driver file that provides a method to update legislative data required for payroll and geocode data required for address validation in HRMS. This information needs to be updated periodically to ensure proper functioning of Payroll and HR applications. The default EBS installation comes with some base data included, but by the time the software is shipped, that data can already be out of date. Furthermore, the data supplied by the hrglobal driver covers a lot of countries/jurisdictions, and most installations will only need a subset of that data. For example, if a company only employs people in the US and India, there's no need to add legislative and geocode data for the rest of the countries included in hrglobal.

  • Why isn't webservices.xml covered in tutorial or here

According to JSR 109, Section 7.1.1:
The webservices.xml deployment descriptor file defines the set of Web services that are to be deployed in a Web Services for J2EE enabled container.
And yet, no mention of this file appears in the JAX-RPC secton of the tutorial, and only two references to the file appear in a search of this forum. The only reference to thie file in the 2004Q4 Developers Guide on docs.sun.com is not providing any information about its use in 2004Q4 J2EE.
Why isn't it part of the tutorial content?
    What takes its place?
If I provide one, will Sun's J2EE container honor it?
    Regards,
    John

So are these my choices for building a war file that includes webservices.xml for deployment?
    1) use deploytool
    2) use wsdeploy
    3) use pre-written webservices.xml in ant-based deploymentYour choices are 1 & 3. Many of our users don't like deploytool, but it is a good way of generating deployment descriptors. wsdeploy doesn't generate webservices.xml.
Third, If the documentation for sun's appserv ant
tasks contains information on how to make use of the
    pre-written webservices.xml files, I could'nt find it.
I searched for the string 'webservices.xml'. Do you
have a link to where I can read about this? This is undocumented, but if you understand Ant tasks, you can fairly easily modify the tasks included in the J2EE 1.4 Tutorial. Specifically, look at the build files for <INSTALL>/j2eetutorial14/examples/jaxrpc/helloservice/.
I saw jaxrpc-ri.xml in the JWSDP sample war. wsdeploy
in 2004Q04 needs it too. Running wsdeploy on an input
war file that does not include 'jaxrpc-ri.xml' results
    in this error for me:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException:
    /tmp/jaxrpc-deploy-71fe97/WEB-INF/jaxrpc-ri.xml (No
    such file or directory)
wsdeploy does not complain that webservices.xml is
missing from the input war. This behavior of wsdeploy
started my suspicion that 2004Q04 does not honor
webservices.xml. Lack of mention of the
webservice.xml in documentation doesn't allay my
concern. These tools (wscompile/wsdeploy) were originally for the JWSDP and are distributed with the Application Server, but that doesn't mean the Application Server doesn't support webservices.xml. You can create a WAR file using deploytool, rather than wscompile/wsdeploy, that a) doesn't contain jaxrpc-ri.xml, b) does contain webservices.xml, and c) deploys and runs on 2004Q4.
The J2EE platform specifications require 2004Q4 to honor webservices.xml. JWSDP is not a J2EE server, and instead uses its own deployment descriptor. I agree with you that this is confusing, and I hope it will be addressed in future releases of the JWSDP and/or Application Server.

  • Why isn't Logic Pro X content available on flash drive?

Why isn't Logic Pro X content available on flash drive?
    Running Logic Pro version 10.1.1
Imac 3.1 GHz Intel Core 7
    16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.5

If you ask nicely at an Apple Store... and take your Mac with you.... they will download and install LPX for you..... along with all it's content...
As for why they don't offer it on a flash drive?
    Who knows.....
It's Apple.... Its the App Store system... Its all about the Apple ID.. it's where things are leading, away from the physical to the non physical medium... and so on..They do things their way.. whether we like it or not... and if you don't like it?
Then choose a different DAW (or move to a different OS via bootcamp) ..  It's no skin off their nose... so to speak... but it will cost you more...(in most cases a lot more)  for a boxed / non downloadable edition.. For example... Cubase 8 = $550... Live 9 Suite (Boxed) = $800....   Motu DP = $500.. Bitwig = $300... and so on...
$199 for LPX..and all its content...  It's a steal, box or no box...
My only issue is.. it would be good to be able to easily download and store a copy of everything myself.. without having to resort to somewhat tricky methods to do so.. so I could easily install everything on a non internet connected Mac...
