Why isn't java working with safari 5.1?

I've been playing an online game lately that is powered by java. I saw there was a software update for my mac (os x lion i think) so i updated the software on my computer. Now, Java does not run on my computer, and i dont know how to downgrade to the safari software that i had before. Can somebody please help? This is really stressing me out.

that Apple fixed this with a download, dated 20 July 2011;

After quitting all browsers and installing the dmg, Safari 5.1 still wouldn't work with it until I re-started my computer - perhaps this just flushed a cache and I could perhaps have had the same result just from flushing caches.
If Apple would only look at these threads and inform us!
But I suppose by now most of you have found this anyway.

Update: This time, when I got the window informing me that my plug-in was inactive, I double clicked on the sentence regarding the inactive plug-in and it solved the problem. Double clicking in that window caused the plug-to activate and my java is now back up and running. Really, it would have been nice to have a "click here to activate" option or some such notice that made this less painful!

Why is YouTube not working with Safari all the sudden?

At first I thought it was a problem with YouTube's site because a lot of videos were not loading up (thumbnails). Then I noticed that I could not comment on a video, nor could I "Like" a video. I can't even logout either! I am still using Safari 5.1.10.
I loaded up Youtube on my Firefox browser and it came right up! I could leave comments, logout and back in, like a video and share it on Facebook! So there is definitely something wrong with Youtube working with the Safari browser or perhaps mine is just outdated maybe?

YouTube content requires Flash.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Not empty the Safari cache.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Now try a video. If you still have problems, try troubleshooting Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

Why isn't Downloadhelper working with Youtube?

I have been using the Downloadhelper add-on for years on my laptop with no problem. I noticed about three days ago it was no longer working with any Youtube videos. The rotating icon is still working, and when I click on it, it still gives me the file type choices for downloading. However, after I click my choice, the green arrow shows the downloading process, but comes up '0 bytes' for every type of video.
I am not having problems downloading videos from other sites that I've used before, just Youtube.
Also, I am able to use Downloadhelper with Youtube on my other computer without a problem.
Can you please help? Thanks.

here is the fix for 4.9.17 is as follows: 
For today's youtube changes, please follow this procedure for downloading 
videos that currently generate empty files: 
- Open url "about:config" 
- Create a new parameter called "dwhelper.yt-sig-perm-85" of type String 
- Set its value to "[[2,8],[0,1],[9,21],[65,66],[22,65],[84,85],[66,82],[21,22] (without the quotes). 
- Reload the youtube page (no need to restart Firefox) and you should be done.

Trying to set up an external drive to mount automatically at boot.

Tutorials I've found seem to indicate this should work but I'm not having any luck. The diskutil mount command works fine, but I'm trying to get this automated without writing my own LaunchAgent to run some shell script. My options are rw,noauto because right now I'm just experimenting and I'm not really worried about mounting at boot, this isn't even the real disk i'll end up using.

I read that thread but, maybe I'm missing something, I didn't see an actual solution in the thread. That being said, technically the man pages don't really claim mount actually supports UUID, only fstab. I suppose diskutil probably reads it for a reference as well since mounting via diskutil does indeed work. Unless someone comes up with a way to do with with mount I plan on just using diskutil in a LaunchAgent and making sure the correct settings are on to make sure the filesystem stays mounted without users logging in.

Why isn't flash working with os 10.5.8?

Asof today, 2/6/13, any flash run program now gives me the "could load plug in. I am running OS 10.5.8 and everything was working yesterday. What should I do?

I think Flash updates has been abandonded for 10.5 and earlier OS X versions.
If you have a Intel processor Mac, you should consider upgrading to OS X 10.6 via the white retail disk.
Be sure to backup your users data folders to a extenral drive first, as you might have to reinstall OS X.

If you have to erase and install 10.6, your machine will be a lot faster than 10.5 was due to video graphics drivers updates, but not so on 10.7 or 10.8.

Adobe Flash Player does not work with Safari. What can I do?

I have a MacBook Pro, Retina, 15 inch, late 2013, 2 GHz Intel Core i7, using OS X 10.9.4. I have installed Adobe Flash Player. In my System Preference, in the advanced settings, it is set to install updates also tells me that I have the NPAPI Plug-in (version 14.0.0.145) installed but not the PPAPI Plug-in. Is this the reason why it does not work with Safari (keeps telling me to download the app, which I did but still does not work)? Is there any way I could fix the problem? Please, help.

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.

They are absolutely now paired after doing all you said, as I reset both the Bose Link and the Iphone. Now we have a pair, but no sound on the speaker or the iphone when they are connected. I know they are connected b/c the iphone says they are in the blue tooth setting AND the Bose has a solid blue tooth light on.
Now what? This is beyond frustrating and only happened when I UPDATED ios!

Why hyperlink color change not working with Safari?

With several sites I visit when I click on their text link lists I see a colored symbol change to let remind me I visited that site. Unfortunately this only works when I use Firefox or IE, not Safari. Is there a reason this does not work with Safari? Is there anything I can do? thanks.

Uploading files to website not working with Safari in Windows 7

I am a website owner, and I have a feature on my site where users can upload large (up to 50MB) music files to my server. The feature works in Firefox on OSX & Windows platforms and it also works in Safari on OSX. The uploading feature is not working with Safari for Windows. Do you have any idea why and how to fix this? It can't be an issue with my server as it works in other browsers fine and works fine in Safari for OS X.
If you have any information on how to solve this or things for me to try to rectify this for use with Windows operating system it would be much appreciated.

I have solved this issue myself with some help from my a user on Microsoft Forums. The issue stems from the mime type of each Browser Chrome, IE, & Safari for Windows defaults as audio/wav. When the mime type is changed to audio/x-wav everything works. Firefox defaults to audio/x-wav and when changed to audio/wav it DOES NOT work.
Once I input some code in my .php upload page to change the mimetype if audio/wav is detected everything works GREAT!!!
So Here is what you need to do: Find your upload page and input this code:
echo "MIME Type: ".$_FILES["file"]["type"]."";
right before your "If/then" statement of file type. For me it was near line 30 in my upload.php page, but I'm sure this is different for everyone.
This will detect and DISPLAY the default mime type of your browser on the error page when your upload doesn't work. Once you know what mime type works for your file type then you can change your "if/then" statement for mime type upload to change your mime type to the correct one.
I don't want to give the code here, because I'm sure it's specific to your file types and your site construction, but this should lead you on the right track.
***This is the solution if you ARE NOT ABLE to upload any certain file in a certain Browser. It has to do with mime type construction***

Hmm. i find this very convenient being a microsoft product. anybody else wonder why this new version happens to not be safari compatible? does anybody know if it works on the PC version of safari? if not, i find this to be a blatant move on microsofts part to bias the safari browser (especially since its basicly new on the window platform). forcing safari/hotmail users to "have" to use another browser to access their hotmail accounts.

I have been successfully using Hotmail and Gmail with Safari for a long time. For roughly the past month, that relationship is rocky at best. At times, one of the following actions suddenly opens Hotmail, but it is a short-lived solution:
(a) Hotmail directly
(b) Hotmail Home>Hotmail
(c) Sign up to Windows Hotmail
(d) Deletion of prescribed cookies, resetting, etc. - made no difference
Both Firefox and Opera work fine with Hotmail - especially Opera is very fast.
In addition, Safari and Gmail does not work with Attachments, but otherwise Gmail is OK.
I suspect I have to wait for a Safari fix because in my case I do not wish to abandon Hotmail, and Safari is a given. I would think that Safari would want to stay competitive with the two biggies, Hotmail and Gmail, which must have large numbers of users.
I certainly would appreciate any other suggested fixes.

Is there a way to deal with this one?

Why RSS does not work with my OS X 10.8.2?

Why RSS does not work with my OS X 10.8.2? There was no problem before the upgrade to the Mountain Lion.

By clicking on the RSS icon I'm getting a message:
"No RSS reader is installed. Safari can't open the feed because Safari can't display RSS feeds"
In Chrome I get xml file of the RSS site.
Should I buy something what I didn't need with the Snow Leopard?
