Why isn't Mpeg 2 in export setting of Media Encoder?

I am trying out Pro 3 and want to make sure the media encoder works like it did in 2 but I am not given Mpeg 2 in my choices, only Flash, Quicktime, Real Media, and Windows Media. Any reason? Am I not allowed to use Mpeg 2 in trial version? How can I fix this?

The reason is in the licensing. It costs Adobe for every application it gives out with MPEG2 capabilities. That's hardly cost-effective when you're giving it away for free. Your beef is with the Motion Picture Experts Group, not Adobe.

  • Remove default export setting from media encoder... or allow mass deletion

Every time I drag media into AME, it pulls up the most recent setting, or maybe a default I have set somewhere, and applies it to my entire import.
I cant figure out how to "mass swap" with my desired setting, so i end up deleting 12 or 13 settings, one by one, and applying my desired settings.
Can I remove ALL defaults, so I can just drag what I want... OR is there a better way to remove all preexisting settings and replace them with my own?

Your image is still queued so I cannot see it but yes there are tiny black bars on the left and right sides of the screen.  This is probably due to some round off errors in the PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio).  I think I read that Adobe made some corrections from previous versions that ended up distorting the image

  • Export to windows media encoder-PPro crashes

Every time I try to export to Adobe Media encoder: windows media: PPro crashes.
I am working on a 64k computer using the 32k version of PPro CS3.
Every other format in the media encoder works fine.
Does anyone have any solutions or know why this happens?
    Thanks,

    J.Charette, "Export to windows media encoder-PPro crashes" #, 15 Jan 2009 12:24 pm
This thread is getting a bit old now but I'm now having the exact same problem as J.Charette. I think I may have some light to shed on it as well. I was successfully running CS3 master collection and exporting to WMV files in PPro/AE for the past year under XP64. I was given a new computer (again XP64) and didn't have any problems until I installed Microsoft Windows Media Encoder 64 (I used to use the 32 bit version successfully and this time figured I'd just get the 64 bit one instead).
Now that I've installed WME I can't export as WMV from any AE/PPro CS3. As soon as AME comes up with the format selection screen, if I select WMV from the drop down box it immediately crashes. I've tried uninstalling WME, reinstalling it and even uninstalling WME & CS3 and reinstalling from scratch. Still doesn't work.
In my case at least, there is a definite correlation between installing WME64 and its interaction with Adobe Media Encoder... Anyone have any suggestions? It seems to me there must be some registry setting / config file for AME that is causing it to try to use WME64 for something which causes a crash (since 32 and 64 bit apps can't call each other).
    Ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Just how hard it is to export using Adobe Media Encoder ?

For those who have CS4 already, just how difficult is it to export
    to Adobe Media Encoder ?
Right now it's very simple, you make up your work area for example, and export.
So with CS4, I must do what exactly to do this ?
Do I have to save the project with the work area selected, exit, now open Adobe Media Encoder and now select "open project" and now load this up and then export ?
Please tell me it ain't so.
I'd like to hear the steps to do this. I have to be honest, what once was an exciting time, has turned into a disappointing time now, reading all the things Adobe had changed ( for no good reason ). I just don't understand sometimes why they do things. I think they should get more input from poeple that use their products on a daily basis, so they know what they should touch, and what not to touch.
I'm actually not looking forward to upgrading now, even though I will, because of a few things that look good in the new version.
    Dave.

    It ain't so.
The workflow remains pretty much the same until you finally click the OK button. At that point the AME will open up and you can choose to start the queue immediately or switch back to PPro and do several more exports before starting the queue.
    Read all about exporting
    from the horse's mouth. ;)
    You will also find several
CS4 tutorials that will show you how it's done.

  • Problems to Export to Adobe Media Encoder!

Hi, I´ve a problem to export to Adobe Media Encoder!
When in Premiere Pro CS4, I click in Files - Export - Media.. it shows a display saying: "An Adobe Media Encoder update s available for this version of Premiere Pro.."
But I´ve updated Premiere Pro CS4 to 4.21 and Media Encoder to 420! Both are installed!
And the display message s showed yet! So I cant send the project into Media Encoder by click, just if i open Media Encoder..
    How do I solve this?
Because before I´ve updated Premiere Pro CS4, I´didnt have this boring message..
    Thanks for your help!
    Gustavo

    Gustavo,
Though you have updated, it appears that the updater still thinks that you have not.
The first thing that I would do is follow the suggestion in the message. An alternative would be to close PrPro, and open Bridge, then choose Help>Update from there. Not sure why updating from Bridge seems to do things better, but it does for many.
This should do one of two things: actually do the update (maybe it only was applied partially? and clear the updater notification. I have had similar with Acrobat Pro, where it took three attempts to get the update to both complete and then to clear the notification messages.
Now, when I go to update from Adobe, I first shut off my AV, pop-up blockers and spysweeper programs. I trust Adobe.com, so do not want anything getting in the way. One more thing to do, prior to updating is to make sure that you have the very latest Adobe Flash Player installed. More and more, Adobe's installers rely on Flash Player.
That is all that I can think of now, other than Good Luck!

  • MPEG-2 option missing from Adobe Media Encoder (ver7.2.0.43)

    Hi all,
Having an issue getting the MPEG-2 option for our Creative Cloud installation, specifically in Media Encoder's presets.
The following steps were recommended on another Adobe forum addressing this issue:
1.Uninstall Adobe Premiere Pro or the Creative Suite.
2.Run the cleanup script found here: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
3.Reinstall Adobe Premiere Pro or the Creative Suite.
    4.Launch Adobe Premiere Pro.
5.When prompted for activation during launch, ensure that the computer is online and complete activation.
If the computer cannot be brought online, complete the offline activation during the first launch of the software. Do not choose to activate later.
6.After Activation, close and restart Adobe Premiere Pro.
We have been able to run through steps1 to 4, however the Activation option in #5 does not appear at all (must be activation is included as part of our CC license).
Without the option to deactivate/activate Premiere how can we go about getting the MPEG-2 option to appear?
    Thanks again

  • How on earth do you export to MPEG-2DVD in Premiere Pro & or Media Encoder?

I'm having the same continuing problem in Premiere Pro CS5.5. I cannot export a sequence out as a MPEG-2dvd in Premiere Pro, nor as a MPEG-2dvd in the media encoder. I even tried to encode the file as an AVI file, and then take the AVI file and convert it to a MPEG-2dvd in media encoder. No dice. The file I'm trying to do all of this with is a 26minute sequence on the premiere timeline, so it's no space and data hog. It's originally an MPEG-1 file. I keep getting the error code that both Adobe premiere, and adobe media encoder can not read m2v.xmpses files. I already understand that these have broken into seperate files, with the m2v in there as the video, the audio file representing the audio, and the xmpses containing the metadata, but these files are not seperate in my experience with this problem. the m2v.xmpses is one file, and it can not be seperated. Ive been told that these files are seperated streams that need to be "muxed" together into one workable file. How do you do this?
Thanks in advance to anyone who attempts to tackle these problems.

If working with NTSC, then your Sequence should be DV 720x480, so as to match what the DVD will be.
Not to split hairs Jeff (nor to distract from the purposes of the OP), but you don't always want to match sequence settings to output, and the OP may not actually want to do this either - especially when working with lower quality assets and not knowing how many different ways the edit will be used.
Adobe's mantra with Premiere Pro is "edit once, publish many" and so let's consider a hypothetical scenario where you are creating a sequence to be distributed to web and DVD. If your assets are 1280x720 60p and you put them in a DV 720x480 (4:3 0.9 PAR 29.97) sequence to match an intended DVD output, then you are "stuck" if/when you decide to render out an H.264 720p sequence for Vimeo. You have to re-build your sequence at that point.
99% of the time, you want to create a sequence that matches your asset parameters, or that at least matches the majority of the assets. Then you are editing with the "raw" format and ready to up-res/down-res without creating multiple sequences with separate edits. This becomes even more imperative when and if a re-edit comes down and you find yourself having to execute identical edits across 2 or 3 or 4 different sequences.
Just wanted to clarify that point. That's also part of the reason why PPro allows you to create a new sequence based on an asset's parameters by drag-and-drop.

  • Audio and video timing thrown off on export to Adobe Media Encoder

    Hi.
I have a two and a half minute video which includes a lip-synched character.  Everything is working perfectly inside Premiere Pro CS4. When I export this using F4V format, I set it to match frame rate as source then typed in 24fps for good measure.
The audio track is way off after going through Adobe Media encoder however.
The original video (generated in Carrara 7 Pro) was set to 24fps, but it looked like Premiere tried to import it as 29.97 fps.  I right clicked on the clip and used Interpret Footage to set it back to 24fps when first setting up this project.  (looking in my Project Panel right now, I see the flv icons are all set to 24 fps, but the blue icon representing PremiereProProject is indeed set at 29.93 fps, plus and incorrect size (720x480 px as oppsed to the 608x464 px of my actual flv files).
Seems like it's still pulling in that faster frame rate though when it goes to encode, even though I'm setting stuff to 24fps wherever I see the option.
Any ideas how to fix this (and how to prevent similar problems in the future)?
Again, everything works fine within the Premiere Pro CS4 context.  It's just when I export that the video seems to play at a higher frame rate, thus begins running way ahead of the audio.
If there's not a way to fix this (change the project settings) within this file, is there a way to copy all of my data and simply paste it into a Premiere Pro file with the right size and fps?  I've now created a custom preset with the correct info.
    Thanks

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was the issue.
I bring my stuff in from a 3d program (Carrara) which exported a png sequence at 24 frames per second (in square pixels).  I didn't see an appropriate preset, so I chose a randomish DV preset, with 29.97 fps and .9 pixel aspect ratio.  i re-interpreted the footage to set back to the correct framerate (and pixels I think).  But when I exported from PremPro, it pulls in that initial Project Stting of 29.97 fps, thus all of my audio is off.
Is there a way to re-set the Project Settings after the fact so I can correct my fps and pixel proportions?
Or is my only choice to reimport my footage to a new project with the corect settings?
    Thanks

  • Exporting video from media encoder. Half of the video export other half goes blank/black

Hi! I'm in need of help I've been trying to export this video to media encoder for about 20days now. I'm working with premiere pro cs5.5 and after effects cs5.5-
Dynamic link, I've updated the two and everything, every time I try to export my video half willl export and I believe after effects crashes and thats when the other
half of the video goes blank/black, this happens everytime, it's very frustrating and I don't know what is causing this. it actually just started.
it also does this on cs5 as well.
    I am working on windows 7 HPE-510y Hewlett-Packard computer
    14gb of ram

Have you checked the output in AME? I always check that before I hit go to make sure that I haven't fouled something up and that the in and out points are what I want. I spot check all along the timeline.
I'm thinking that you have some parts of the Premiere Pro project that are shots or sequences that have been "Replaced with After Effects Composotion." If this is the case, does the blackness happen in one of these shots? If it does I'd suggest trying to render that shot in AE and replace it in the PPro Timeline. If After Effects is really crashing you'll be able to find out why.
A little more detail about your project would also help.

  • Cannot access mpeg in CS6.0.2 Adobe media Encoder. Have done clean reinstall and update still no luck.

I am running SC6.0.2 AME in several Mac Pro towers running 10.6.8. CS5 media encoder is fine with mpeg but cant get it to work in CS6. The mpeg option in the preset browser will not bring up the export settings dialog. The update from 6.0 to 6.1 was touted as a fix for this but it doesn't work. How can I get this to work?

  • Some Media Offline, and No Sound in Video Export: Premiere Pro & Media Encoder

I have run into a couple problems:
First, sometimes when I try exporting an edited video from premiere, the video shows "Media Offline" even though it plays fine in Premiere. How could I fix this error?
Secondly, when I try exporting a different, longer-in-lenth video from Premiere, it shows NO Sound, despite there being sound in the ProRes file itself.
I tried restarting, clearing the cache and deleting the preferences - and it still isn't working. We also tried re-installing media encoder. I also tried contacting Adobe Support, and they haven't been helpful or responsive (My case number: 0186134420). Anyone know how to solve this one? Thanks!

You do know that this is a user to user forum, not an official Adobe support site?

  • PPro Sequences Not Exporting Correctly to Media Encoder CC

So, recently I've been having issues with PPro/Media Encoder CC after the last update. The issue is that once I try to export my H.264 sequences from PPro CC to Media Encoder, the sequence gets completely changed to the Animated GIF codec. When I attempt to change it back, H.264, and a number of other codecs, are no longer available in the Media Encoder list. If I then attempt to use one of the presets on the right dock-panel, such as H.264 > NTSC DV 720x480, the following error message prompts:
Media Encoder has encountered an error:
    [..\..\src\Command.cpp-754]
Has anyone else encountered this batch encoding issue and, if so, has there been any updates/patches to resolve the issue?

Except that it's not an activation issue.
PPro and Media Encoder were working completely fine before. All my stuff is activated and I don't even use Encore, so I'm thinking some sort of glinch must've occurred during the last couple updates.
I think I'm just gonna reinstall PPro and Media Encoder and see if that solves the problem.
