Why isn't my browser supported?

One of the challenges of delivering desktop-quality software
inside a browser is, well, the browser itself. For more details on
our approach to browser support, its challenges, etc. please see
the posting on the Acrobat.com blog.
http://blogs.adobe.com/acom
Browsers aren't all the same, and there is a fair amount of
work to get things working right, especially with keyboard
shortcuts and the clipboard. We've focused on the most common
browsers first: Firefox (Mac & Windows), Internet Explorer 6
and 7, and Safari 3.
For example: We’d like to follow convention and provide
the typical Cmd-B shortcut to make text bold. However, Firefox on
the Mac uses Cmd-B to open bookmarks in the sidebar; so Buzzword
was forced to use Ctrl-B for making text bold.
For
Firefox under Linux, we're providing limited support. We
have done some testing and we believe it works well, but we're
interested in your feedback. Please be sure to upgrade to the
latest Linux version of Flash Player 9 available at
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer,
and also be sure to adjust your preferences as described in the
initial page you'll see when visiting the application in Firefox
under Linux.
Other browsers may work (Opera, Camino, etc.) to some extent,
but we can’t make assurances that all functions will work.
We appreciate hearing from users who want to give Buzzword a
spin under non-supported browsers, as it helps us focus our efforts
and testing.

Hi,
After trying Opera AND Firefox to post a reply to "Why isn't my browser supported?" I'm now using IE (7 not 8 - that's not working, too!). Maybe that's the first thing that should work in all browsers - the forum.
The second thing, and that's why I originally wanted to post something here, is that I had problems typing "&" and "/" in Opera. They don't seem to be at the same key as usual. (I have a german keyboard...):
Shift + ^1234567890ß´
Key (normal):   °!“§$%&/()=?`
Key (buzzword): ^!@#$%^&*()ß`
Additionally everything seems a little bit slow...
Regards,
Ireen

  • Why isn't my laptop supported for windows 10?

I recently bought a Satellite E45-B4100 with Windows 8.1. I assumed it would be upgradeable to Windows 10, but it's not on Toshiba's "supported" list. Can I still get Windows 10? And why isn't this laptop supported????

    Satellite E45-B4100 (PSPNAU-001002)
Sure seems peculiar that the following model is supported, but not the E4x-B series. Those in the same part-number family, are almost identical. Maybe some application software?

(Or maybe Toshiba just got the chart wrong.)

  • Why isn't iOS 7 supported on 4th generation iPod?

Why isn't iOS 7 supported on 4th generation iPod?

Same reason any new software cannot be run on any old hardware.
As time goes by, new software requires more and more from the hardware.  Older hardware simply cannot keep up.
This is not odd or unusual in any way.

  • Why isn't right-click supported in Flash?

As far as I understand, adobe doesn't want flash player to support right-clicking for anything but a context-menu.
I'm creating a new flash game, and once again i'm trying to figure out how to create good controls without being able to use the right click in it.
Once again, it's painful and feels like adobe is giving me the middle finger here.
Why is custom action for right-clicking not supported? It's really crippling for game developers.
Will this be different in the future?

I'm guessing they originally wanted to make a statement that "user interface must be so simple that it doesnt need right click". Then they just never added the right-click because apparently game developers aren't that important for them.
I just saw some games that were made with unity 3d and got kind of envious. The games were fast enough for playing decent 3d-shooters with browser, and also: right-click.
Adobe is coming behind with some system that allows use of hardware acceleration and 3d-api, so that one should be able to make pretty fast 3d games with flash. I hope they add the other mouse buttons by then too, because 3d-game-support but no right-click support is in my opinion just dumb.
If someone knows if the right-clicking will be added later or can guess why it hasn't already, I'd love to hear.

  • Why isn't multipart/mixed supported in Mail?

If I'm not mistaken multipart/mixed content types aren't supported in Mail.app and I'm told I should be using multipart/alternative despite the difference in the actual content for each part. In my case I have some text content and an rfc822 context so I figure I'm typing the thing correctly since Mail.app under OSX displays the rfc822 inline but the phone's Mail client simply complains.

Just wanted to echo this post. Given that a lot I people keep on sending multipart/mixed messages, I have to say that simply not displaying them is very disappointing.
The problem is that there are no alternatives whatsoever. Ok mail.app does not support it, but at least let the user download the source. I had my electronic tickets sent to me in such a message and had to figure out how the henk and when I can get my fligt having a dumb mail.app telling me that it won't download the rest. Come on!!! That's so frustrating.
In my experience about 10% of mails are multipart mixed. Do you see me telling to my customers to use another mail programme? Please improve this one.

  • I have windows vista home premium and all other versions of iTunes worked on my laptop iTunes 10 won't work, I get a message saying I'm not connected to the Internet when I am. Why isn't iTunes recognizing my browser configuration?

I have windows vista home premium and all other iTunes worked on my laptop, I downloaded iTunes 10 and now the iTunes will not connect to the Internet. I use Mozilla firefox on my laptop and for some reason it keeps saying the connection timed out and I'm not connected to the Internet when I am. Why isn't iTunes recognizing my web configuration?

It probably has to do with your security and/or browser configuration.
When my laptop crashed last year and I had to get a new one, I dealt with the same thing. First, go to your control panel and select the security section. See if your firewalls are up or not. If they are, turn them off. If you have any software to speed up your browser, that can affect the connection as well. Go into that software and disble/turn it off. If this doesn't work, contact customer support. They have a few other tricks they had me try that worked, but I can't remember them now.

  • Apple: Why isn't 16:9 a supported format?

This has been bugging me for a couple of years now. And no - I'm not as stupid as the title suggests.
But seriously. When I capture a 16:9 anamorphic file using the correct settings, or having edited and exported a 16:9 sequence... Why is everything squished and squashed when playing it in QTplayer or importing it as a clip in FCP? Or for that matter - why does DVDSP or Compressor not recognize the FCP-exported 16:9 sequence as that?
If this metadata is such a big problem to pass on, I would at least reccomend 16:9 to be the default ratio while they embed a real flag for this! I mean. What format is most used by video-professionals these days? Is it 4:3? Or is it perhaps 16:9?
I know about both square and rectangular pixels, and I know a whole lot of workarounds to get the result as I want it. But they all require manual punch-in, they are all multiple step-processes that take time, and they all have pitfalls. And seriously - even if I get it - people around me don't... I'm kinda getting tired of telling everybody "You have to do this and this stupid thing..."
Aren't these things just supposed to "work"?
    So... Why isn't 16:9 a supported format?

I have to deal with this in my real job and to be honest, it gives me a huge headache; integrating SD, analog and HD material into one show whatever the flavor of the day is - is that video cropped, squished or stretched or letterboxed or pillarboxed....wait, I need that to be stretched from that show and that to be cropped from that show and and and and....
I can't provide a solution as I don't understand it all myself, however, to answer your query of what aspect ratio is predominantly used it is still 4:3 NTSC here in the U.S. Until all programming is HD and everyone has purchased an ATSC tv, I think we'll be stuck with this issue.

  • Why isn't the first generation iPad not supported by iOS 6?

I am totally confused. Why isn't the first iPad supported in iOS 6?
iPad 1: Apple A4 1GHz processor and 256 mb RAM
iPod Touch 3G: 800 MHz processor (same as iPhone 3GS) and 256 mb RAM
iPhone 3GS: 800 MHz processor (underclocked to 600 i believe)

3GS is still sold officially and new. iPad first generation isn't. Android is even worse about things like this.
PLEASE don't branch this into twenty different threads, and keep it in the two that already exist.

  • Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

There are also iSwifter, Photon, Skyfire, etc., some only support Flash some support Java and Flash.
Adobe never made a version of Flash for iOS and closed their mobile flash division a couple of years ago. You can get Flash on other personal devices but you will be using a 2 year old version that has not been patched for security vulnerabilities.
When the original iPhone was released Mr. Jobs said it would never run Java as it was old technology and a security risk. Nothing has changed since.

  • Why isn't my iTunes store loading properly? It lists everything in text without images, and I can't seem to access the store when I try to search for music or movies etc.

Why isn't my iTunes store loading properly? It lists everything in text without images, and I can't seem to access the store when I try to search for music or movies etc.

    1) The best way to relocate the iTunes library folder is to move the entire iTunes folder with all subfolders to the new path, then press and hold down shift as start iTunes and keep holding until prompted to choose a library, then browse to the relocated folder and open the file iTunes Library.itl inside it.
If you've done something different then provide some more details about what is where and I should be able to help.
    2) Purchases on the device should automatically transfer to a Purchased on <DeviceName> playlist, but it my depend a bit on whether automatic iCloud downloads are enabled. If there is a cloudy link then the transfer might not happen. You can use File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. In iTunes you should also check out iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
    3) Backup the device, then immediately restore it. In some cases you need to add a restore as new device into that equation. Obbviously not to be attempted until you're sure all your media is in your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device should it be needed.
    4) I believe there is complimentary 1 incident 90-day support with hardware purchases, but no free software support for iTunes itself. AppleCare gets you a different level of support.

  • No Optimized web browser support on basic phones after 8/30/13?

Over the weekend I received a very disturbing message on my web browser. of my Samsung Gusto 2. It said that there would be no Optimized  web browser support on basic phones after 8/30/13 and that if I wanted a good web browsing experience that I would have to upgrade to a smartphone. I am on the $50 unilmited talk, text, and web prepay plan  but don'\t want to get stuck paying for a web browser I can't use after that date.A smartphone monthly plan would cost $10-20 more monthly,in addition to spending considerably more to buy a smartphone. I already have a tablet and was told a smartphone was unnecessary. Anybody else get this message? One person in customer service said that it was propaganda and not to believe it. Another person that I called later found the memo but had no further information on it at this time. Aparently Verizon likes to keep their customer service associates in the dark until last minute. No idea if they will alter their price plans in light of this development. I currently have AT&T U-Verse and will move my number to them and switch providers if forced to.They are willing to offer the same plan I currently have with Verizon but will have to buy a new  AT&T GoPhone.  Have had pretty good customer service with them up to now,but they are not open 24/7 for wireless customer service. Any comments?

    Hi Melissa
Right now I am switching  back and forth between the Samsung Gusto 2 and the original Gusto. The reason I am doing this is because the Gusto ,even though it is an older phone, is in much better condition than the newer Gusto2. I want to use the beat-up Gusto2 for work, and  switch to the other phone when I need a more presentable phone. Also have  a Verizon Wireless CDM 7076(somewhere).
Don't know why I am being forced to replace perfectly good phones. And yes,SydneyK, I could use my tablet for data, but it is a little cumbersome to take it out with me,but don't need it for my work . I just took it out for the first time recently to see how well it works on Wi-Fi hotspots(I don't have or want a data plan).Because I am a U-verse customer,I have access to 30,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. I don't want to pay for something (web access)that I can't use on this phone. If Verizon can't give me cost-effective solutions, then I will be forced to transfer my number to AT&T Wireless as of August 30 for a GoPhone. AT&T wants my business and are wiling to do anything to satisfy me. Haven't had any trouble with Verizon either. Yes,  their customer service is still available 24/7 even thought you will have to wait a while sonetimes. I just hate the thought of having to go through the hassle of transferring my number to another carrier.
