Why isn't my iPhone 5 charger working???

Okay, so over the past 2-3 months, i've been having troubles with my iPhone 5 charger. I've been through 2 chargers and just the other day it totally didn't work when I tried to charge it. So, it is currently dead and I think i should just go to the apple store and they can swap it for me (btw, I have an apple warranty) What do i do? Any ideas?
Sincerley,
A desperate apple customer.

Take the charger, cable and iPhone to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs test the setup to be sure what is wrong and work with you for replacement.

  • Why isn't my iphone 5 camera working? Whenever i try to take a picture the screen just shows up black. i have already tried turning it on and off about a million times, but the same thing happens.

    please help

    Hi julia_smile,
This article has some steps you can try for camera app issues:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Camera
    Camera isn't functioning
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash (iPhone 4 only); try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center. Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. After recording begins, you cannot readjust focus until you stop recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll. Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
    Cheers,
    - Ari

Your phone is still under warranty.  Bring it to Apple for replacement.

  • Why doesn't the iPhone 4s charge to 100%?

Why doesn't the iPhone 4s charge to a full 100% when charing over night?

OK sort of an old thread now but this apparently is a common issue. Restore wont help. I have researched it for the past week (did several months ago too and gave up) but I now have somewhat of a solution to this phenomena. For whatever reason mine seems to stay at 100% most of the night than around 7:00am it would drop to 97% or so within a few minutes. This sorta stopped when iOS 5.1.1 came out. Now it stays at 100% until I unplug it then it drops. What I was doing was each morning when wake up, I unplug then plug back in while I was getting ready for the day and it would go back to 100%. So for the fix. What I have discovered over the past week worked 100% of the time. When go to bed I turn off the phone with the slider. Then plug in charger and let the phone come alive again by itself. But I do not log it in. Just let it sit at the lock screen. Now every morning its at 100% and stays that way for more than an hour (If not used). So it is being fully charged and remaining that way. iPhone will quick charge to 100% by meter but in reality it still needs longer to fully charge. Anyway this process has solved the waking up to less than 100% while still being connected to the charger.

  • Will iPhone battery charger work with my iPad 2 ?

Will iPhone battery charger work with my iPad 2 ?

It does work but it's not recommended:
    iPhone charger is 5W
    iPad needs 10W
So, yes you can charge an iPad but the iPhone charger will get spoiled and the charging will be very slow.
    Hope this helps,

  • Why won't my iphone 3gs charge even though it is plugged in?

Hi guys, so I've had my 3gs for nearly 2 years. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that charging it wasn't going easy. When my iphone shuts down from no battery life and I plug it in to charge, it charges enough to turn itself back on, but when it eventually turns back on it won't charge anymore? Even though it is still plugged in and switched on by the plug. So I have to take out the USB, turn off the switch to the plug, turn the switch back on, plug the USB back in and it charges again.
BUT, recently not even that does it. I've tried different plug sockets, i've rebooted it. I've tried leaving the USB cable in and just turning on and off the plug switch.
So at the moment it's just going through a circle of running out of battery, charging and turning itself back on, having 4% battery and dying again and repeating.
So I googled my problem and didn't really find a solution. I mean the plug and USB cable are fine. Clearly it charges fine because it charges enough to turn itself back on when it's shut down.
I found out that when the iphone is plugged in but turned off it still charges so I tried this when it started itself up again, and it charges!!
But why won't it charge when the phone is on and plugged in??

    Hi waplington123,
If your iPhone will not start up unless connected to power, you may want to troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    Specifically -
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Brett L

  • Why won't my iPhone 6 charge with any other charger but the one it came with? please help!

My iPhone 6 won't charge with any other charger, can anyone explain why?

Make sure both the charger and connector are certified and that they are in good working order. Test them with another iPhone if possible. If the charger is working, then the problem might be the lighting connector port. Check and see if it is dirty. If not then there might be a hardware problem. Take the phone in to an Apple Store or authorized service provider for evaluation and possible replacement. Take the cable and charger as well.

  • Why isn't my iPhone 4s appearing as a connected device on my Windows 7 laptop?

    Hi,
This all started with me trying to copy my photos from my phone to my laptop.
My phone isn't appearing as a device in my computer which means I can neither import the pictures or use explorer to navigate to them and copy them over. After some investigation I've determined that this is because the drivers aren't installing. Specifically, the "iPhone" driver. The Apple Mobile Device driver has installed just fine, but when I plug my phone in, and when I check it in device manager later, I'm told that the driver's can't be found or that there's an install error.
I've tried following these support guides with no luck:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
I've also searched around for this elusive driver in the hopes that I could just download and install it manually, again with no luck.
I'm not sure what else I can do. All I want to do is copy my photos to my laptop. This shouldn't be so difficult.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium N 64bit on an Acer Aspire 5739G. Latest iTunes, latest iOS. Everything updated and all hardware is working properly.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
    Ben

I have the same problem with iOS 5.1 on a 3GS. Since a few days I cannot download any content anymore, be it updates, apps, music or ibooks. Every download stays in the "Waiting..." state forever.
The 'solution' you get across frequently (holding the wake/sleep and home button for a few seconds to restart the iPhone) does not work for me. I've tried that several times.
Also, it can't be my network connection, as I've tried via 3G and in different WiFi networks and with other devices using the same account.
All I can do is start the update/download from iTunes. But that's no solution, only a work-around.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Why won't my iPhone 5 charge?

My iPhone is a 5S that I bought right before iOS7 came out. Once I updated the phone, it experienced a lot of crashes. iMessage doesnn't always work, my apps shut down, etc. My biggest problem, though, has been that my phone no longer charges. It will charge for a short period of time, sometimes up to an hour, or sometimes as little as a second before saying either "This accessory is not supported", "This accessory may not be supported", or identifying my Apple charger as one not made by Apple. If the charger remains connected after this message appears, crashes occur. The other day, my phone alarm didn't go off in the morning, and my phone was saying it was 11:57 am when it was actually 2:13 pm... I have the same Apple brand charger I've always had with the lightning cable attached. It's not an issue with the cord or charger cube because this happens with every charging device I plug it into, including other iPhone lightning chargers made by Apple and not run through an adapted, my MacBook Pro, and my iHome. This is driving me crazy, and no one I talk to at the Apple store says they've seen this charging problem before, even though I know they have. Please help!

Since your phone is still under warranty, take it to an apple store and have them replace it, since you have a faulty iphone, and its not usable.
For your charging problems, please read this in order to resolve those issues:

    Hope I helped.

  • Will a iPhone car charger work with iPad 2

Can a iPhone car charge a iPad or not? I'm using a DC/USB car adapter but when i plug it in it said Not Charging.

It will give that message but if you turn the iPad off (it won't charge if it is working) and give it about 8 hours it will charge despite that message.
You'd be far better off investing in a car charger designed for the iPad and you can also use it with your iPhone.

  • Why won't my iPhone 5s charge on my laptop

I plug my iPhone 5s into the wall and it charges but when I plug it into my laptop it doesn't charge. It's like my phone doesn't even recognize it's being connected to the computer. I've tried different USB cables and it doesn't work but my husbands 5s charges and connects to the laptop perfectly fine!

    Did you resolve your problem?
I have the same issue, and nothing works.
I am computer savy so I did all the steps, twice.
I also tried it on other PCs, and with other cables, as well as other iphones and ipads on my laptop.
I even installed another partition of other windows on same laptop - all work well, except my main windows installation on my main laptop with my new 5s iphone. IT isnt recognized for charging or to be connected to itunes.
When I turn on my laptop, it gets power like the other iphone which is working well.
on windows startup in middle it stops. then when windows are loaded, other iphone is connected and powered and recognizable, but this one neither.
I managed to copy old iphone to new 5s 64GB throgh another laptop, but my music and other stuff are on laptop installation I cant reach.
    please help!!!

  • Why isn't my iPhone 5 not syncing my ringtones in iTunes

When the iTunes came out half of my ringtones disappeared off my iPhone 5. The ringtones are still in iTunes but for some reason when my iPhone is synced with my computer, certain ringtones aren't being synced. Anyone know why?

Place your iPhone into recovery mode as described here.  You may have to try this more than once to get it into recovery mode so it will complete.

  • Why isn't my iPhone 5c working to it's full potential?

I am currently using iOS 8.1.1 on my iPhone 5c. I have had the phone since last Christmas (December 2013) so it is almost a year old. In the last few weeks, I have been having some issues with my iPhone that I know should not be an issue on a fairly new phone.
Problem 1: I have a pending software update for iOS 8.1.2 which Apple is telling me I do not have enough storage to download. I am finding it hard to understand this as I have removed all of my photographs from my iPhone in order to make room for it, and I also only have a very small number of apps (15). I have 100 contacts on my phone which is the only thing I can think of that may be taking up too much storage. I do not understand why I can't download the update, and I also don't understand why it even takes up that much storage on my phone anyway? Surely the update should not take any storage of what I am actually paying for? Maybe I am just short of knowledge about Apple and how it all works, as I don't really understand the whole thing anyway.
Problem 2: I am not sure whether this is a problem with the device or with my contract but when I leave a place where I have been using wifi, my phone does not use it's 3G. In my contract with EE, I pay for unlimited 3G however, when my mobile data is switched on, and also enabling 4G, I am not able to use the internet. At the top of the screen where the symbol for 3G usually appears, there is nothing. I have to switch my device off and then back on to make it work. Does anyone know why this is?
Problem 3: My Wi-Fi symbol keeps appearing in a pale grey colour. It does not allow me to switch the Wi-Fi on and on the swipe up box the Wi-Fi symbol is appearing dark and I am not able to switch it on. This is very frustrating for me as I do not have signal in my home so I rely on the Wi-Fi, yet I have not been able to use it for 2 days now. It has happened before to me also but switching the device off and back on again seemed to work. I have tried all 'home remedies' to try to solve this problem, I have switched off the Wi-Fi box from the wall at my house and put it back on - nothing. I have switched my phone off and on several times - still nothing. I have also reset the network settings on my phone - nothing. I have tried putting Airplane Mode on, then turning it off but the Wi-Fi symbol still remains dark grey and I am unable to switch it on.

Your issue is different from the OP's.  In the future, post your own thread to get answer to your specific questions.
For the OP: Go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock and set it to your preferred time.
For you: Create a backup and restore the device as new and test it to see if it still gets very hot.
