Why isn't my iPhone 5s ringing or beeping when I get a phone call or text?

Whenever someone calls me it goes right to voice mail and doesn't ring. I am missing a lot of phone calls because of it, and it is very annoying. I don't know if there is something wrong in the settings or just in the software. I will appreciate any help!

Sounds like your phone is on Do Not Disturb.
do you see a cresent moon at the top right of your iphone?
setting - do not disturb - OFF

There are two easy fixes to this.
One, you can set up Family Sharing, in which you can have two different iCloud Accounts, yet still share the same apps, music, media etc.
Two, go to Settings and turn-off "Handoff". This can be found under the General page.

If you have looked where James suggested and you are saying that the phone number does not appear in there at all, you can add the phone number to the iPad but you may need to sign out of Messages on the iPad AND the iPhone.
Phone number missing on iPad or iPod touch
If your phone number is not listed on an iPod touch or iPad, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you are using on your iPhone.
On your iPad or iPod touch, sign out of your Apple ID in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign in to your Apple ID with FaceTime and iMessage.
If your phone number is still not listed, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign in to your Apple ID on your iPhone.
When activation is complete, your Apple ID and all verified email addresses should be visible in Settings > Messages > Receive At and also in Settings > FaceTime.
Now sign in to your Apple ID on your other iOS devices.

HT4053 I have lost the ring when I get a phone call or a messege. The phone vibrates, but there is no ringtone. I have a ringtone picked and the ringer volume is as high as possible.

That pretty much sez it. No ringtone on a call or messege or text although one has been selected. Vibration but not tone. Ringer volume is all the way and nothing.

You can stop it by going to Settings > FaceTime and changing "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off on both phones.
You amy also want to consider using separate Apple iDs.

Unfortunately, since an unauthorized party opened it, Apple won't have anything to do with it at all. It's not eligible for an out of warranty replacement.

Plugging in a headset disables the speaker...nothing you can do to work around that.

Thanks, but it turns out iTunes just needed another 24 hours. Now when I search in iTunes by my name or book title, it comes up!
Do you happen to know why it doesn't list my name on itunes? It shows the title and then By (blank). Grr.

Iphone 3GS 4.3.3 reverts to 2G during phone calls then stays in 2G !!!

I'm using iphone 3gs 4.3.3 and when I make a phone call, even in a full 3G signal area, my iphone reverts to 2G and then stays in 2G after the call. It doesn't go switch back to 3G.Why is this ??? Even hours later the phone is still in 2G.
Also, there is full 3G coverage but the only way is to force it back, either by switching off and back on OR going into airplane mode and back.
Anyone else experiencing this problem ?
