Why isn't my jpg attachment centered like how I composed it?

ok, so i just sent an email to a few friends and CC'ed myself.
the email had 2 attachments, which i had centered in the body of the email (to match the centered text).
and when i just got the email back, i saw that the text was centered but not the images (which were on the left side)
and it looks a bit odd.
does anyone have any idea why this is- or how i can do it again so that the image is in fact centered when it reaches people's inboxes!

Strange. Using the simple method I described, the image was centered in the Draft folder and Sent folders of my corporate electronic mail account, and centered in the message received from my .Mac account.
In any event, as Allan alluded to, different electronic mail clients handle messages in very different ways. The only way to be reasonably sure that any image will be placed in a particular position and that text will appear as you expect it to, is to compose it in HTML format, importing the body from another file or web page. This can get pretty convoluted…

FAQ: Why isn't the anchor point centered in shape layers?

[UPDATE: In After Effects CC (12.1) and later, you can center the anchor point within the visible content of a layer. ]
Short answer
Because in shape layers you can have two distinct kinds of anchor points - the anchor point in the main transform properties, as in any other layer type, and also an anchor point in the specific transform properties for each shape. When you create shapes by dragging with the shape tools, it's the anchor point for the shape group that will be centered. If you want to animate the whole layer from the main transform properties, you may need to shift the anchor point so it matches the visual center of your content.
Long answer
Shape layers are a unique type of content in After Effects.
In fact, they introduce a bit of the object/group hierarchy model in Adobe Illustrator, rather than follow the typical layer model in After Effects.
In other words, while you can definitely use them to quickly create a vector shape and then animate that shape as any other layer in After Effects, you also get the ability to create, edit and animate multiple shapes (each with its' own set of visual appearances) nested in a single shape layer.
This allows all kinds of cool animation opportunities, but it also means that a shape layer is not your typical After Effects layer.
So, when you create a shape by dragging with the shape tool, there actually is an anchor point that is perfectly centered - that's the anchor point in the transform property group for that shape group. If you double click a shape, you'll see a bounding box. This a visual representation of the transform properties for the shape group, and the anchor point specific to this group will default to the middle of that bounding box.
However, the main anchor point for the whole shape layer may not be centered relative to the shape content. This is normal behavior - Note that if After Effects tried to center the layer anchor point relative to the first shape group you create, it would be immediately wrong when you add more shape groups to the layer. Or when you animate shape groups around.
Now, as many other things in After Effects, shape layers are designed to let you go as deep as you want. Ideally, you may want to try animating the transform properties for each shape group, since there's when things get really powerful. However, if you want to consider shape layers as a one shape per layer entity and animate in that way, you can of course do that. Bear in mind that you may need to center the anchor point yourself relative to the visual center of the content. If you don't do this, the shape layer's content will be offset from motion paths, or behave in a different way from what you may expect when animating scale or rotation.
To do this, make sure you're not selecting a nested shape group but the shape layer itself, then you can do the following:
Use the Pan Behind tool as with any other layer (this may not give what you want if you do it after creating a motion path, since it will modify position values).
Drag the hot text for the Anchor Point property in the Timeline panel, as if it was a slider. You can then re-thread the content relative to the motion path. You can also achieve this by Option- (Mac OS) or Alt- (Windows) dragging with the Pan Behind tool.

Why can't you easily attach photos from Mail?

I'm kind of scratching my head that there is no option in Mail to attach photos or videos. I know that I can exit from Mail, go to Photos, select Copy, select photos, exit Photos, go back to Mail and paste them, but that's about 7 steps too many for my liking. Why isn't there an attachment feature right in the Mail app?

Connect your device to iTunes and do the update through iTunes. Using a computer takes much less space on your device than doing the update on your device.

You can't create new albums on the iPad either. The user interface looks different, but the functionality is essentially the same.
The route is to create new albums on the desktop, and then sync via iTunes.

Network Shared Computers in Leo: why isn't it easy like Tiger?

In Tiger, I used to be able to just click on the Network icon in Finder and within seconds ALL the Windows computers on my network would appear as shared, and all I had to do was click on a computer icon and all its shares were visible. This was a simple and reliable behavior.
But since upgrading to Leopard, finding shares on my network could be a new game in a Las Vegas casino: in Finder's "Shared" section, they sometimes appear on their own, and sometimes not. Sometimes one computer appears, but another not. ANY of them can be summoned and respective shares opened using Finder's "Connect to server..." command, so all of them are there, active and part of the same workgroup. Why can't this be more simple and reliable like it was in Tiger?
Another annoyance is that once a server has been connected to via "Connect to server..." if I navigate away from it in Finder, and then return to it, it will need to go through a "connect" procedure again. This is not the case with a shared computer that is discovered automatically. Another reason to try to get the system to auto-find all the shared computers on the network.
Is there something I'm missing? I can't find a clear explanation for this in the discussions or in the help documentation. In fact I find it surprising that many seem to be ok with this; it was a lot more efficient the old way.
If someone can give me a clear, simple explanation of why this is the way it is, and how to get this to work reliably like it used to, I'd REALLY appreciate it!

I used to be able to see the jpg attached to an email. I used to be able to download it to my iPhone. Now I only see Mime. What is up with that?

Just check Add Media Dialog and ensure that "All Files" is selected in second dropdown available there.
Also there is different option to add Audio.. so try that out...

I have been trying for an hour to delete all of the photos from my iphone5. Can't do it, except for 1 at a time. I can't even connect it to my PC and delete them from my computer. Why isn't this easy and intuitive?

When you hooked up to your PC did they attempt to import? Had you imported them previously and not deleted when the import was complete?
If you have to delete them directly on your device, you need to press the select button and just keep selecting until you have all of them selected, then put them in the trash.
You do not need to select one then trash it, then select another then trash it. You can select as many as you like before clicking on the trash icon.

Using Settings/Email Settings/Filters, I added a new filter "If From Contains XYZ delete" and saved the new filter. Today I got another spam in the Spam Detector from the same XYZ sender. Why isn't the filter causing this email to be automatically deleted? Thanks for any suggestions.

After trying Opera AND Firefox to post a reply to "Why isn't my browser supported?" I'm now using IE (7 not 8 - that's not working, too!). Maybe that's the first thing that should work in all browsers - the forum.
The second thing, and that's why I originally wanted to post something here, is that I had problems typing "&" and "/" in Opera. They don't seem to be at the same key as usual. (I have a german keyboard...):

Additionally everything seems a little bit slow...
