Why isn't my podcast feed on iTunes?

Hello, we have had a podcat feed posting to iTunes for over a year now. Recently however, when I went to check that the feed was updating properly it is not longer even showin in the itunes store. I went through a Feed Checker to see if there were any issues with the structure of the feed, and a few minor tags/dates needed to be updated, but it still isn't showing in iTunes. Does anyone know how to track down the issue here?

Any feedback would help! I sent in a support ticket over a week ago and haven't heard back!

First up your Artwork file size is >1 MB - which is known to cause issues.  Please reduce the file size <1 MB.
The other specs on the artwork are fine - 1,400 x 1,400  .jpg (RGB)  - you just need to change the file size.
Look to a service like http://www.jpegmini.com  - for shrinking the file size.
In your feed - you also have to many key words - reduce those to <255 characters.
And for your description - make sure under destinations you go to your "libsyn classic feed" and edit it and put in your description in the "Summary" text box - the summary tag is where Apple pulls the description from.

Either they've been moved to another home screen or dropped in a folder, in which case doing a search or resetting the Home Screen layout (Settings/General/Reset) should bring them up, or they've been turned off in General/Restrictions.

  • Why isn't my podcast author value being updated in the iTunes store

I have three podcast feeds and recently updated the value in the author tag from "The MetalsPeakers" to "MetalsPeak.com". For some reason, that update is only showing up for one of the three feeds when I look them up in the iTunes store.
    Here are the three feeds:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/MetalsPeakInterviews
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/MetalsPeakPodcast
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/Metalspeak-Reviews
The first two still show "The MetalsPeakers" but the last one shows "MetalsPeak.com". I'm assuming this is coming from the author tag, but could be wrong. At any rate, I don't have "The MetalsPeakers" in any of these feeds anymore so does that mean it was cahced or something in the store? Is there someway to reset it?
    Thanks!

Your podcast has not been removed: it is at
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/from-the-word/id129024499
I was able to find it by searching, though it was some way down the results and not on the initial results page: you are competing with a lot of similar podcasts: the way to get to the top is to have a more unique title.

  • Podcast feed in iTunes Store hasn't updated since January!

    Hi,
Our podcast feed which we have been running for over a year now stopped updating in iTunes Store and is still showing the latest podcast as Jan 2013 even though we put out 3 new episodes a week. If you are subscribed it works but people keep reporting to us about the iTS being months behind and it is bothering my employer.
Our server was running slow and I have since fixed the problem and it made no difference.
I reported a problem with the feed in iTunes and it made no difference.
I relocated the feed to another server using a different system and url which is much faster using 301 redirect and placed all files on a high speed cdn but this has made no difference either... Also updated images too.
I reported the problem again to iTunes and nothing changed.
Help I need to get this sorted as I don't know what else to do!!!!! We can't start a new one as we have too many subscribers.
    iTS page: http://www.itunes.com/podcast?id=564972472
Old feed URL (301 redirect): http://nexuschurch.com.au/podcast-feed/feed.php
    New feed URL: http://www.nexuschurch.com.au/podcast.rss
    Thanks,
    Seth

Your Store page lists 68 episodes running from 12 Jan 1012 to 19 Jan 2013. Clicking on the 'Subscribe' button brings up the feed at
    http://www.nexuschurch.com.au/podcasts.rss
This feed has 15 episodes running from February 3 to 11 March this year. The old feed URL you give successfully redirects to the feed now in use in a browser, and evidently also when subscribing in iTunes; but it looks as if it is not working in the Store page. The correct method for redirecting a feed involves placing a special tag in the original feed and is outlined here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
According to Apple's own documentation a 301 redirect should work in the Store, but it looks as if for some reason it isn't.
All I can suggest is that you place a copy of the feed at the old URL, adding the redirect link as described in my page, and remove the 301. This should move the Store to the present feed - it will probably take a couple of days or so to catch up.
If for some reason you are unable to set up the feed at the old URL you can try emailing them at podcasts 'at' apple.com and asking them to move the Store - give them the Store page URL and both feed URLs.

  • Still having issues with my podcast feed in iTunes

I am still having issues with my podcast feed. The podcast is not updating in iTunes yet I can see some of the new episodes through an alternative RSS.
    My podcast feed is
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/SosChurchStockholm.
Not sure what I am doign wrong.
Thankful for any help in this regard.
    Thanks

I'm afraid I can't give you an easy answer. The Store has not updated since the episode of 10th November, but the later episodes appear when subscribing and there doesn't appear to be any problem with the feed.
The Store does appear to go through sticky patches sometimes and take a long time to update some podcasts; it will probably catech up eventually and I'm afraid that there isn't really much you can do about it. You could try emailing Support ad podcasts 'at' apple.com, but I suspect you will get a form answer telling you how to add episodes (which you already know).

  • Subscribe to podcast feeds in iTunes from Mozilla Firefox

In Mozilla Firefox, how can I add iTunes as an application to subscribe to podcast feeds, so that it shows as an option in the drop-down menu of the preview page? I've selected the iTunes.exe file through the "Choose Application" option, iTunes shows as an option, I select it and when I click on "Subscribe Now" iTunes opens but it does not add the new subscription. I am running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12, iTunes 10.1.0.54 Thank you!

You can add directories to podcast application to use for searching.
Or you can enter the RSS url to add new podcasts.
No directory has ALL the podcasts out there. You need to search and add.

  • Why am I losing podcast episodes from iTunes?

I'm fairly new to iTunes as a podcaster and initially had 5 podcasts listed. For some reason 3 of them have vanished, leaving only the two most recent episodes. Can anyone help?

    Hi Cameron,
Here's what I think is happening. Your feed contains both blog posts and podcast items (which is OK - iTunes just won't display any <item> that hasn't got an <enclosure> tag). Your feed though has exactly 10 items.
So I suspect that, as you post new blog items, they are pushing out podcast entries and shortening your podcast feed.
Is there a setting you can change in your blogging software to increase the number of items in your feed? It might also be worth seeing if you can have a separate podcast feed, and just use that in the iTunes Store.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg.

  • Why isn't the podcast image displayed?

I have submitted a new podcast to Apple, it is accepted and visible in iTunes. But the podcast image is missing unfortunately. In my XML the image is added. Who can help in this case?

Sorry for my bad English skills. I tried to describe the current issue in the best way...
    Following szenario:
    - podcast image in iTunes store is visible now
    - podcast image in my iTunes is not visible (after downloading an episode)
    - podcast image of the episode is visible (when playing the episode)

  • HT1819 Why doesn't my podcast feed show up in iTunes?

Our podcast used to be listed in iTunes. A couple of months ago our hosting service expired and I began recieving word from listeners that the podcast was no longer available. We've resumed our hosting service but the podcast is now missing from the iTunes store. If I try to resubmit it, the store tells me the feed has already been submitted. How can I fix this issue?

  • Why isn't my podcast updating in the iTunes store?

iTunes told me to change the name of my podcast so it can start taking a new feed. I do not want to do that, and that hardly seems like a solution. iTunes and Podbean both have verified there's nothing wrong with my feed, and no one seems to have an answer for me. Any thoughts?

Suggest you link with iTunes store support and ask what has happened.

  • Difficulty submitting podcast feed to iTunes

    Hello everyone,
My friend and I host a podcast at http://DWSPodcast.com
    Our RSS feed is http://DWSPodcast.libsyn.com/rss
I go through the motions of submitting our feed to the iTunes Store:
sign in, store, podcasts, submit a podcast, insert feed, confirm info, see success page saying correspondence will be sent to my email.
Here is where my trouble occurs.
I never receive a confirmation email even though iTunes states that it knows where to send it.  I have waited days-weeks to see if one would show up.
Here is another oddity.  I can complete this submission process as many times as I like without receiving any submission error or 'already received' error.
I have checked my RSS feed with the feed validator and it is a legit feed.  Libsyn support has also double checked my feed as well.
My podcast can be manually subscribed through iTunes and everything works fine.
I have tried submitting my feed from different computers on different networks to make sure it wasn't a local hang up.
We are already on stitcher radio and the Microsoft podcast network and really can't understand why our feed won't submit to iTunes.
It seems to be broken somewhere between the submission process and the apple servers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
    -Andrew

There is no obvious reason why there should be a problem. It can take several weeks before a podcast is accepted, so possibly you're just stuck in the queue, though in that case I would have expected further attempts to submit to produce an error message.
You could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com, but I have to tell you that they are not noted for being helpful and you will very likely simply get a form answer telling you how to submit a podcast (which you already know). You might get better results if you can persuade Libsyn to chase it up - Apple are more likely to listen to them.

  • Timeout error when submitting feedburner podcast feed to itunes

This is my first time submitting my podcast to itunes, I have created the feed with feedburner and I can manually subscribe and download the podcast in itunes however when i try to submit the feed I recieve the generic timout error, see below. I have tried for several days with different machines to no avail. Any suggestions?
    Feed Address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ThePortcast
    Thanks in advance.

The feed appears to be OK; sometimes individual servers can behave oddly with the Store but as yours is a Feedburner feed there shouldn't be any problem, so there is no obvious reason why this is happening.
You could try the allternative submission URL:
    https://buy.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/publishPodcast
If that doesn't work one possibility is that there is a problem at the Store end, which does happen though it doesn't usually go on for several days. You could try emailing support at podcasts 'at' apple.com but I have to say that you likely won't get a helpful answer. Otherwise I can only suggest giving it a day or two and trying again.

  • Video Podcast - feed working ITune won't download recent episode.

    Hi:
I have uploaded my 6 episode using blipTV as video host. Until now have not had a problem.

How long ago did you add the episode? Sometimes it takes iTunes a couple of days (or even a week) to update your listing. As long as you are able to download the newest episode, all of your subscribers should be getting the new stuff too. (It's just folks browsing iTunes won't see your newest of the new; once they subscribe they would get the new ones.)
I would be patient for awhile, as lots of people on this board have been reporting that iTunes has been quite slow on its updates lately. If it still isn't working after a few days, post links to your actual feed (not to the iTunes store link) and let us have a look at it.
BTW, are you aware that you have 2 listings for your "Watkis Words of Wisdom" podcast?

  • Why won't my podcasts play in iTunes?

    https://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/den-andre-podcasten/id670277522?mt=2
I got this submitted some days ago. It runs through feedburner from soundcloud and blogger. The RSS-feed seems to work fine in other software. And I am able to download it perfectly from the feed directly from feedburner. But in iTunes it seems like only a very very short fragment of a second is played, and then stops.
    Anyone?
    Best from Norway
    Valemon

The URL given for your latest episode's media file is
    http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/DenAndrePodcasten/~5/5_9tdy3rWI8/download.mp3
    However this redirects to
    https://soundcloud.com/detandreteatret/den-andre-podcasten-ep-2/download.mp3
First off, you can't use https in iTunes. But in any case, this URL doesn't, as it should do, play an MP3 file - instead it downloads a WAV file called DAT_podcast102.wav
iTunes cannot play WAV files so your file, though it gets downloaded when subcribing, is then not playable and disappears from the library.
Soundcloud isn't a good place to store your media files, but if you must use it you need to use http not https, and you must provide a link directly to an MP3 file. The test is that if you enter the URL in Safari's address bar the file plays in Safari, not downloads. You should also check your podcast by subscribing manually in iTunes and making sure each episode's file both downloads and plays.
Your feed is at http://feeds.feedburner.com/denandrepodcasten - originally it was made in Blogger. It contains no 'itunes.duration' tags containing the duration of the episode - this can cause problems playing episodes in the Store even if the file is the correct type. You will need to check in Blogger where you can enter this data.
