Why isn't Premiere Pro using my renders in export?

I have been clicking "Use Previews" in Media encoder to speed up export, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, it still takes half an hour to export 3 minutes no matter what I do. Since it is crashing when I try to export more then 3 minutes and also crashes when i try to render more than 3 minutes, I am really slogging through my long project an it's quite frustrating.

Hi Steven,
Here is some more detail on my project:
---what is your media,
I am editing avi DV files (shot in 3x4 screen ratioo) layered with bmp file graphics (varied sizes) and avi animations, compositing to a standard DV widescreen NTSC format, lower field is chosen and if that is the mistake, I chose that on a whim. The dv was shot in 3x4 format and I am repositioning it.
---what are the rest of your settings, what are your preview files using for a codec?
the previews are rendered in the codec "NTSC dv widescreen".
When I choose the same for export, it accepts that. When I click on "use rendered previews" the codec changes to "custom". That seems fishy to me because the source film is the same codec too.
I have set my preferences within the project.
I have cleared the media cashe drawer within the preferences and rebooted the computer to no improvment except that it seems now I was able to update the program. Yesterday the updater wasn't working. But the updates did not fix my problems.
As I am in the middle of a new export attempt I have not checked further but I will when it finishes and crashes again! Thanks for your input.

  • Why doesn't Premiere Pro use my GPU when rendering?

    Hello all,
I bought two GTX 770s for the purpose of rendering super fast with premiere's wonderful Mecrury Playback Engine. The issue I'm having is, I'm rendering a project right now, but it's not making any use of my GPUs whatsoever. My CPU is hovering at 55-80% usage, so I was just wondering what was going on.
Just kind of upsetting that my investment has gone to waste. Thanks!

    From that article:
The video card and hardware MPE is not the holy grail. It helps in some circumstances to improve performance and rather significantly, but in other instances it does not help at all, as is indicated in the link above. People often think that installing a super fast video card will reduce export times by a significant amount of time. That is not true. It only helps in a limited number of situations.

  • Why does Premiere Pro CC 2014 renders incredibly slow?

    Dear Premiere Pro experts
I created a movie with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and I have serious performance issues when it comes to export the movie.
The first 10% renders pretty fast and takes 1 hour. Then it takes for every additional 1% about 4 hours! (never rendered it to finish so far, 14% max so far)
Here are some facts that might help to isolate the problem:
    Project:
Length: 24 minutes in total, splitted into several sequences (up to 4 minutes) and arranged on a "main-sequence"
Input: Cineform AVI files, 1080p, 59fps (I converted GoPro 3+ footage (3D!) using GoPro Studio to the Cineform format for further processing)
Desired Output: Same as input, preserving 3D (Render 3D Intermediate)
Effects used: Warp-Stabilizer (default settings) and Auto-Color (smoothing 1-2 sec) on almost every clip.
    Hardware / Software:
    i7-3770K @3.5 GHZ (Quadcore)
    16 GB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970 (also tried with a ATI Radeon R9 290X)
    Windows 8.1
SSD for OS and programs, RAID 0 for media files and project, separate drive for rendering output.
Then I tried to render using AME using the same settings. The whole video rendered in about 14 hours what is acceptable in my case. There problem here is that the 3D gets lost, even if I selected "Render 3D Intermediate". The picture for the left eye is the same as the one for the right eye. This is not happening when I do a direct export. But the direct export get almost stuck at around 10%.
There is almost no difference in choosing Software-Rendering and GPU. Also, the GPU has almost no load. Premiere Pro uses the CPU for about 45% (total usage 65%) and takes up 5-9 GB of memory (total usage 65%). Disk usage at around 14b/s.
I think there are two problems. One is that AME renders differently (no 3D) and the other is that the direct export takes way too long.
Can someone help me with any of these problems?
    Thank you,
    Martin

I did some additional research and found out, that the slow rendering happens with this combination:
    - Auto-Color using Temporal Smoothing
    - Render 3D Intermediate
Without rendering the 3D intermediate, Temporal Smoothing is not a problem. And without temporal smoothing, Rendering 3D Intermediate is not a problem.
Might this be a problem in the codec or in Premiere?

  • Why does Adobe Premiere Pro modify original footage/asset files (e.g. mov)? (CS6)

    Background:
A colleague had given me a large 33Gb .mov for use in a project, I put this file on a backup drive.
I made an identical copy of this 33Gb .mov file and placed it in a folder that I'd use to work on a Premiere Pro Project.
I ran Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and dragged in the 33Gb .mov file into the Sequence (imported it)
Premiere Pro CS6 started conforming the file.
After it had finished, I noticed that it's Modified Date was just now i.e different to the Modified Date on the original copy of the file on the backup drive (see step 1)
I ran a BeyondCompare check between the .mov file on the backup drive (see step 1) and the one that the Premiere Pro project was using (step 2, 3) and Beyond Compare reported they were different.
I had initially thought it was unrelated file corruption of some kind, but I have checked this several times and got the same outcome, so it's definitely Premiere Pro deliberately modifying the file.
So I am puzzled: these are supposed to be the same file.
Why would there be a need for Adobe Premiere Pro to modify the footage?
What does it do to the file?
Would it not be better to create a separate file if necessary?
I can accept this if that's how it works and it's good to know that it was Premiere Pro deliberately modifying the files and not corruption (so my hardware ought to be healthy). But it makes more sense to me if Premiere Pro made separate modified copies for its own use. Modifying the file as it does hinders my process for checking the integrity of backups; if the original asset footage files were the same as earlier copies then it would be easy to know that the backups are OK.
    Thoughts?

Definitive Answer (I believe): It's all about this setting, "Write XMP ID To Files On Import" - which confirms that Adobe Premiere Pro is deliberately modifying the .mov file: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/preferences.html#WSE3BD4A43-7022-4fe6-97F5-95313 935347B
These posts give some background as to why having this setting enabled would be beneficial: one benefit being to be able to skip conforming files by matching the conformed file with the original using the embedded XMP tag :-

  • Why are Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 source and program monitors playing each others footage?

Why are Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 source and program monitors playing each others footage? I import my footage into the project like normal. I drag it to the source monitor on the left hand side to set in and out points then I drag it to the time line. The footage drops into the time line with no problem but when I go to play the footage in the time line it plays back on the source monitor and not on the program monitor like it is suppose to. Other times ill drag the clip to the time line and trim it there and it will be fine and show up on the program monitor.  Then ill go try to set a clip to have in and out points (which is suppose to show up in the source monitor) but it shows up in the program monitor. The clip is not even in the time line it should not be on that monitor! I have updated the program to the late update. I have re installed the program numerous times and I have even ran the Adobe Clean up program. Couldn't find much on this problem. Please help thank you! I have a PC. My computer is also way over the recommended minimum specifications to have the program installed on.

  • Why won't premiere pro cc will not let me add an adjustment layer

why won't premiere pro cc will not let me add an adjustment layer

Glad that you got the adjustment layer issue worked out. Not quite enough info to troubleshoot the other problems. The following page outlines the kind of info that helps zero in on the cause of such problems: FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?
As to the cache files and rendered previews, you do not need to keep them. Premiere will regenerate them as needed. Because re-conforming the audio and re-rendering the sequence takes time, you probably want to keep those files around for the current project--unless, of course, you have reason to think that the cache or render files are causing problems.
To keep things clean and get the attention of more people, it would probably be best to start a new thread for the other issues.

  • Is it possible to live capture into Premiere Pro using a Canon 1DX DSLR?

    Hello,
We are trying to avoid capturing into the canon capture software, exporting, then importing back into Premiere Pro for editing. Is it possible just to capture directly into Premiere Pro using a Canon 1DX DSLR?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Amanda

I have got FCE HD which I assume works in a similar way.
Go to Easy Setup and select "DV - PAL DV Converter".
When you have finished remember to return it to its original setting.

Why isn't Logic Pro X content available on flash drive?
    Running Logic Pro version 10.1.1
Imac 3.1 GHz Intel Core 7
    16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.5

If you ask nicely at an Apple Store... and take your Mac with you.... they will download and install LPX for you..... along with all it's content...
As for why they don't offer it on a flash drive?
    Who knows.....
It's Apple.... Its the App Store system... Its all about the Apple ID.. it's where things are leading, away from the physical to the non physical medium... and so on..They do things their way.. whether we like it or not... and if you don't like it?
Then choose a different DAW (or move to a different OS via bootcamp) ..  It's no skin off their nose... so to speak... but it will cost you more...(in most cases a lot more)  for a boxed / non downloadable edition.. For example... Cubase 8 = $550... Live 9 Suite (Boxed) = $800....   Motu DP = $500.. Bitwig = $300... and so on...
$199 for LPX..and all its content...  It's a steal, box or no box...
My only issue is.. it would be good to be able to easily download and store a copy of everything myself.. without having to resort to somewhat tricky methods to do so.. so I could easily install everything on a non internet connected Mac...

Check to see if your system meets the minimum requirements. Other have reported that if it doesn't, then PPRO will not show in the list.

  • Premiere Pro CC taking FOREVER to export

I'm on a mac (2013 imac and macbook pro, 24GB/16GB ram, etc) and Premiere Pro used to export just fine (~10 minutes for 3 minute 1080p video to h.264, everything pre-rendered) and now on both of my machines it seems like PP isn't able to use the rendered files EVEN when I select "use previews" because it takes 30-40 minutes to export now. As an aside, I have to render essentially every second of my timeline due to the nature of the footage & effects I'm using - my footage is image sequences of jpgs that are a weird size, the timeline is 1920x1080 though. Media Encoder isn't any faster, either. It doesn't matter whether I use software or CUDA accelerated export, either. They are all slow.
I'm getting no direct indication that there's an error - just that PP takes far too long to export. Unacceptably long. Rendering times are fine, so there's not a problem with my system there.
    Thanks,
    Henry

    Hi minutephysics,
What is the codec for your rendered previews? What is your output codec? Are they the same?
