Why isn't sound coming from my ipod nano?

I recieved a brand new 7th generation ipod nano. no matter what I plug into the device to listen to my music (headphones, earbuds, speakers), there is no sound coming from the device. even when I attempt to use only the built- in speakers, i can hear nothing. video works fine.

First, ipod nano 7th gen does not have a built-in speaker. Second, a brand new nano jack is sometimes ifficult to insert, make sure it is fully inserted or flushed to the ipod body. Cheers!

  • There is a very loud, distorted sound coming from my Ipod Nano 7th generation no matter what headphones i use. Any fixes?

I bought an Ipod Nano 7th generation and out of the box, there was a really loud distorted sound as soon as i pressed play. When i press pause, it stops. If i use a different pair of headphones is does it. So, i exchanged it, and all was good for about three weeks, now even the new one is doing it. The sound is so loud and fuzzy that i cant even hear what the song is supposed to be.

Why is there no sound coming from my ipod speaker?

    Do headphones work?
Do you have volume set to max?
You can try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem then it is likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Geniu Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS1425 My iPod Classic was working fine all day.  Came home and uploaded to voice memos via iTunes, now there is no sound coming from my iPod.  I've used both headphones and a docking station.  The songs don't even begin, they just skip to the next one.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
I'm not optimistic that this will help any more than the procedures you've already tried, but it won't hurt to try.
Do you still have your OS 9 installation? If so, try booting into OS 9 and see if the problems with the audio are happening there, too. If so, you can bet it's a hardware problem.
How big is your hard drive and how much space remains available on it? If you don't have your OS 9 installation in order to check out whether it's a hardware problem and you have enough available hard drive space, you may want to try an Archive and Install of the OS in order to make sure it isn't an OS X system-wide problem. If that doesn't do it, you could back up your hard drive and restore your software.
All of this may just be spinning your wheels, but it's all stuff you can try before shelling out a lot of money for repairs.

  • There is no sound coming from my ipod!!

Hi, I am using an itouch 2nd gen. and there is no sound coming from it when i attach my ear phones to it. I have reset the settings, restored it, switched it off many times, still nothing. The earphones are working just fine. Some help would be great!! Thanks!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod. Not clear if you did that type of restore
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours. I would say not worth it for a 2G iPod

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I understand that you are having an issue with your sound, and wanted to help! To start, can you provide me with the Product Number of your notebook?  Here is a link you can use that will help you find your Model and Product Number: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Also, did you have the issue before upgrading to Windows 10?  You can try using the HP Support Assistant to get the drivers you may need to resolve the issue for you.  You can also try a Hard Reset.  If that doesnt help, and this issue started after the upgrade, then you may consider using the Go back to an earlier build option, in your System Settings:HP Notebook PCs - Upgrading to Windows 10
Once you are back to your original Operating System, check to see if you are experiencing the same issue. If not, then you may consider holding off on the Windows 10 update for a few weeks, until drivers can be updated.

  • Why is the sound coming from only one earpiece?

I just got an iPod nano, and I've had it for a couple of weeks, but a few days ago, the sound feed into my earbuds suddenly didn't work in my left ear. I have tried a different pair of earbuds and even earphones, but it still doesn't work. What should I do?

Make sure you are fully inserting the headphones jack.  If you have not done so already since this problem occurred, do a Reset on the iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
That will restart the iPod.  If that does not help, in case it is a software or settings glitch that is causing this problem, you can do a Restore of the iPod in iTunes.  Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  The Restore button is there.  This will erase the iPod, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.
If that does not help either, the cause is probably a hardware problem.  If there is an Apple Store nearby, you should make a reservation at the Genius Bar.  Otherwise, use the Contact Us link at the botton right corner of this web page to contact Apple tech support, where it says, "Mac, iPhone, iPod and iPad customers within 90 days of ownership are eligible for complimentary phone support..."

  • Why do i not have sound coming from my ipod?

Problem started after the iPod was left in a hot car. At first it played nothing, then it played a few songs flawlessly and finally the sound has completely vanished. I restored factory settings and have done some of the suggested tips from various sites to no avail. All things appear normal as far as operation is concerned.
I have all the music that was on it and it shows it as playing. I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Weird sound coming from my ipod, help

My ipod has just frozen and it's emiting a high-pitched sound (not throught the ear phones, but directly from the device itself). What do i do? I'm going crazy with this sound.

Run an Apple Hardware Test to see if it picks up any anomalies.
I would open the MBP and inspect the internal components with emphasis on the fan, as suggested by dalstott.
Also make certain that you data is backed up.  Though you HDD is not in the upper left hand corner, I don't discount that as a possibility.
If your purchase date is less than 12 months ago you are still under warranty.  I would then take to Apple and have them perform diagnostics to determine what the problem may be.
    Ciao.

  • Weird sound coming from my ipod

Hi, Problem 1:My ipod mini makes a grinding noise when connected to my computer.. It only generates this sound while updating.
Problem 2: I bought an album on Itunes store and when I tried to put it on my ipod it only copies the first three songs..

  • Why is no sound coming from my MBP

I am getting no sound for videos or music on my MBP.  I have restarted it and still no sound.  It worked earlier when I was using AirParrot to view documents and listen to music using my AppleTV in my home.  I quit the AirParrot program and shut my laptop and packed it up to use it again at another location but now my sound is absent.  Any suggestions?
I am running OSX 10.6.8 and have all the latest updates available.

Thanks for your response. Called Tech support and they suggested Uninstalling the audio board driver. That worked. After booting with an updated driver the noise went away. Thanks again...gtc

  • There is not sound coming from my ipod.

I have an ipod classic 30G Video. I have tried resetting, restoring, trying different headphones... nothing working so far.

If a restore to factory settings did not resolve the issue, it's likely hardware related as a restore would eliminate the possibility of a software error or data corruption.  And you have already ruled out a bad set of headphones. You'll need to either take or send your iPod in for repair either via Apple or a third party service.

  • Why is the sound coming from my computer have a lot of static (noise). ?

Product Name: HP G62-223CL Laptop Computer
    Operating System: Windows 7-64bit
    No error messages.
The Stereo Mixer - Realtek High Definition Audio produces noise (static) unless muted. Is there a way to correct this problem with software or is the audio board defective (broken)?

  • I put a case on my iPod touch 5 and now there is no sound coming from the speaker.  The head phones work though.  I called Apple Support and the 2 people I spoke with seemed baffled.  Has this happened to anyone and how do I resolve this?
