Why isn't the book I want available for up to months after it's release date on iBooks?

I know of 3 different authors who have released books (one 3 months ago, the others at least 2 weeks ago) and they are still not available on iBooks. Why? What's the delay?
It's getting so irritating that authors and publishers have a 'release date' but because I don't want my library spread out over various different apps and accounts, I'm behind on getting to read SO many books, some literally by months, because of something that seems to be iBooks' issue.
I know it's a first world problem, but it's really driving me insane!

I think you need to contact the publishers to find out why they have not yet provided their material to Apple.

Since there is nothing called "the Textbook App" your question is not exactly clear. Presumably you mean iBooks? For unknown reasons, Apple has not made a version of iBooks for OS X since the iOS version was released two years ago. As a result, to read paid-for ebooks on your Mac, you usually need to get them from another source, like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or Googlebooks, and use the ereader apps which they provide.

How are you trying to listen to it ? You shouldn't need to be online to listen to it, I don't for any of mine. If you've downloaded it directly on your iPad (or synced it from your computer) then it should be in the Music app (you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button in the Music app when you have audiobooks on it) - is that where you are trying to listen to it ?

Why isn't the popup blocker exception working for sites I have added? It still asks me to "allow" them.

Even though I have added sites to the Exceptions in the Popup Blocker preferences, I constantly have to press the Allow button to actually go to the next window. The sites are staying in the Exceptions list and I can get there, but something clearly isn't working properly.

I have been adding each domain name that pops up that's different from the original website and Firefox is still asking me to "Allow" it. Very frustrating...

Why isn't newly installed hard drive available for startup?

Here's what I did:
1. Backed up Macbook Pro data to external drive.
2. Installed new hard drive in Macbook Pro
3. Put old drive in hd enclosure
4. Connected old drive in enclosure to Macbook Pro via USB
4. Formatted new drive using Disk Utilities from old drive.
OK, everything seems to be fine and the new drive icon is on the desktop BUT the new drive is NOT available as a startup disc. It works as a regular disc as far as transferring files, but doesn't show up in the "select disc for startup" window. What's wrong? Thanks.

You did something incorrectly:
Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
     1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
         with your computer. Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
         After the chime press and hold down the "C" key. Release the key when you see
         a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
     2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
         button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
         After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
         size.) Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. Set the number of
         partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
         and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
         (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
     3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed
         with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
     4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
         Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
         username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
         Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
         install of OS X. You can now begin the update process by opening Software
         Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

It is your OS, you need OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and you have OS X 10.7 Lion. Get it from the app store.

Yes. All of the phones that use the same ID for iCloud will be sharing the same iCloud account. Any data synced with the shared account will be merged and will appear on all devices. Also, any actions taken on synced data (such as deleting contacts or adding calendar events) will be replicated on all devices sharing the account.
To keep your data separate, everyone should use a separate iCloud account with a separate ID on their devices. You can continue to share the same ID for iTuens; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.

Amazon in general has equal or better prices than Apple for the equivalent merchandise. It really does not matter why. Just shop where you get the best value, selection, and convenience.
As Jim Z hints, Kindle books can run on a wide range of platforms, including iPads and Macs, by the use of the appropriate apps, which by the way are free.

Apple is in the midst of announcing new products and they normally take the Apple Store offline while a keynote is in progress. The Apple Store will be back up when the keynote is over. Try back in about a half an hour or so.

I think I managed to grab one of the last of the 2011 refurb'ed MMS's.... at that super low price Apple were selling them for... before they bumped it up and now, they seem to have none left at all at any price

If you ask nicely at an Apple Store... and take your Mac with you.... they will download and install LPX for you..... along with all it's content...
As for why they don't offer it on a flash drive?

It's Apple.... Its the App Store system... Its all about the Apple ID.. it's where things are leading, away from the physical to the non physical medium... and so on..They do things their way.. whether we like it or not... and if you don't like it?
Then choose a different DAW (or move to a different OS via bootcamp) .. It's no skin off their nose... so to speak... but it will cost you more...(in most cases a lot more) for a boxed / non downloadable edition.. For example... Cubase 8 = $550... Live 9 Suite (Boxed) = $800.... Motu DP = $500.. Bitwig = $300... and so on...
$199 for LPX..and all its content... It's a steal, box or no box...
My only issue is.. it would be good to be able to easily download and store a copy of everything myself.. without having to resort to somewhat tricky methods to do so.. so I could easily install everything on a non internet connected Mac...

My limited bandwidth forces me to manage my data consumption - I am forced to "google" the file size of the software update so I can decide if I have the headroom in my data plan to take advantage of the update.

If you click on the name of the Application in your Updates Available list,
it will take you to the update Imformation for that App.

I am confused about something. How do I read a book on my MacBook Pro? I can't find the iBook app anywhere, which is what I use on my iPad. The book I want to read is in my iTunes but I can't click on it. My iBook library does not show up in iTunes.

Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro. If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook. Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad. Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
