Why isn't the Firefox button right at the top anymore?

When I was running the beta builds (up to B8), the Firefox button was right at the top right of the windows (as it is supposed to be). After updating to FF4B9 (and on), the button is displayed here: http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w111/troop172/FF4.png
I have tried to uninstall/reinstall FF but it doesn't fix the problem.
I am currently running FF4GM

*There is now one large urlbar container that contains the location bar and the Back and Forward buttons and the combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is located at the right end of the location bar.
*This urlbar container is locked to its position on the Navigation Toolbar and can't be moved.
*This change also has the consequence that you can no longer hide the Navigation Toolbar, so you do not see this bar in the right-click context menu of the toolbar area that shows which toolbars to show or hide.
Firefox 29 and later versions have the Australis interface that looks different than the user interface in Firefox 28 and older versions.
*With the Australis interface the orange Firefox menu button has been replaced by the three bar Menu button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar
A consequence of this new menu button is that you no longer can hide the Navigation Toolbar
*There is a star like button to the right end of the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar to bookmark the current web page and a "Show your bookmarks" button next to it to open the Bookmarks in a drop down menu
*It is still possible to have the menu bar visible via the right-click context menu on the toolbars to have menus like the the Bookmarks menu
You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore some functionality that was lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

• The firefox button with all the plugins and add ons and stuff doesnt appear... what do i do?

I saw the tutoring video for firefox and it says that if I want add ons to appear I have to click the firefox button but I don't see it anywhere... how do I add it???

The Firefox button is not available on the Mac, this is due to the way that the Mac handles menus.
For the Mac, to access the add-ons manager, in the Tools menu select Add-ons.

• I have Firefox 4 on Windows XP but do not have the Firefox button shown in the upper-left in the introductory videos.

And of course, I want it.

The new interface is only default on Windows Vista and Windows 7. To get it on Windows XP you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

• The firefox button used to be on the left, with tabs lined up beside it reaching the top of the screen. Now the firefox button is on its own, with tabs on the row below it. This wastes a lot of space at the top of my screen, can I put it back how it was?

Previously, the firefox button was at the top left and tabs lined up beside it, so that the top of the tabs reached right to the top of the screen. Close/minimise etc. were at top right.
Two days ago, it switched so that the firefox button is at top left, close/minimise etc. are still at top left, but now the tabs are on a row below, leaving a gap at the top where I can see through to the desktop. There is also a larger border than before round the whole firefox browser window, more wasted space.
I have the windows 7 quick links bar at the top of my desktop, now that firefox has left a gap above the tabs it means it is easier to accidentally hover over the bar when changing tabs, this is annoying as it brings it to the front and disrupts the ability to change tabs quickly.

-> Tap '''ALT''' key or press '''F10''' to show the Menu Bar
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> select/unselect '''Taps on Top'''
Check and tell if its working.

• I can't find the Firefox button in RC1

I just installed Firefox 4 RC1 and noticed that the bookmarks toolbar was disabled. After going into the help, I was told to click the Firefox button then under options tick Bookmarks toolbar. After a few more searches I conclude that I do not have the Firefox button but instead the classic File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools and Help menu strip.
The fact that I'm using Windows XP and not Vista or 7 should not make a difference because Microsoft will support XP until 2014! I can't find any options to turn on the toolbar via the Options menu.
Also on a side note, the bookmarks button on the right next to the home button is also missing.

I am not sure where it is explained, but the firefox button replaces the menubar. If you
*''' turn off the menubar by using View -> Toolbars [] menubar
that should allow you to see the firefox button. If you want to display the menubar again it is available under FirefoxButton ->options .
The Alt key may be used to temporarily display the menubar, if you have the firefox butoon displaying using the alt key will temporarily allow you to see the menubar and firefoxbutton at the same time.
Options and actions that utilised the menubar will now normally be available by using the new Firefox Buton.

• Missing the Firefox button; instead I have the old menu system.

I just downloaded the beta 7 browser. I was excited about some of the simplistic stuff, like the menus being contained in one button, the Firefox button. However, the button is not there and I still have the old menu toolbar system. How can I switch this?
Thank you!

Right-click any Toolbar and deselect Menu Bar.

• My firefox opens without the firefox button in the upper left

I have the edition 9.0.1 installed on Windows XP home edition, but it opens without the Firefox button appearing in the rectangular box at the upper left of the screen. It does show File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools and Help.
Should I have the Firefox button? Do I even need it?
Thank you.
thanks that was extremely helpful and easy to understand. thanks for the help.

• Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar in ff4? It isn't included in the Customize box. Is there anyway to install the "Stop" button for loading web pages or is this option compeletly gone from Firefox now?

Just installed upgrade to Firefox 4.0. Where did the "Stop" button go on the Navigation Bar. I checked the Customize dialogue box and it isn't included. Is anyone else missing it? Is there anyway to install the "Stop" button for loading web pages or is this option completely gone from Firefox now? It was a very helpful button and allowed us users to stop a web page and move on if it wasn't what we needed.

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. For more details on customizing the toolbar see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

• I don't have the Firefox button feature on my browser. The one above the back button. Why not?

I've downloaded Firefox 4 on both hard drives and the Firefox button feature that is suppose to be located above the back button is not there on either browsers! This feature is mentioned first on the "Getting Started" tutorial and I'd like to have it. How do I get it to appear?

Usually you have either the orange Firefox button or the classic menu bar, but not both at the same time.
You should be able to switch back and forth this way:
If the classic menu bar is not displayed, tap the Alt key to display it and then use
View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
to make it persistent. It should replace the orange Firefox button. To switch back, uncheck
View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
Does that work??
Also, the Mozilla ActiveX plugin is defunct and should be uninstalled ASAP. It isn't reliable above Firefox 1.5, and may have unpatched security problems. [http://kb.mozillazine.org/ActiveX#Uninstalling_the_ActiveX_plugin_on_Windows How to uninstall].

• How can you have the app tabs positioned to the right of the FireFox button when maximized?

App tabs are '''normally''' positioned to the right of the FireFox button. However, when you shrink the window and then maximize again the app tabs appear below the FireFox button.
Anytime an app tab is open and you maximize, adjust window, maximize, the entire tab bar is bumped down under the FireFox button. Having just regular tabs open does not have this problem as they correctly position themselves to the right of the FireFox button when maximized.

Zero is in the middle where it says "none".

• Why doesn't my new install of Firefox 4.0 have the "Firefox button" which is prominently advertised on the site as a huge advantage?

I installed 4.0 the other day, and the very first change advertised in the features video is a "Firefox button" (it's orange) that supposedly has all my menus within it. I still have all my menus and no Firefox Button.

The Firefox button isn't shown by default for Windows XP. If you want to use it, go to the View menu, down to toolbars and uncheck Menu Bar.

• Why is the Refresh Button missing in the Firefox upgrade I just got??

There has always been a Refresh button in the toolbar at the top. It is not there anymore and I want it back. Please supply it.

If you look at the very end of the address area, after the star, you should see a reload button. Actually, it changes depending on the page status: after loading, it's reload, during loading it's stop, and if you start typing into the address box, it turns into go.
If you prefer separate buttons, you can use the Toolbar customization feature to move the combined button away from the end of the address box and/or split the reload and stop (change the sequence to prevent them from recombining).
View menu > Toolbars > Customize
If you have the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key or press F10 to display the classic menu bar.
In some cases, it is easier to press Ctrl+r or the F5 key than to find the little button.

• Why can't I found the Firefox Button?

In this article ([http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/beta/features/#feature-firefox-bottom firefox 4 beta features]), it is stated that there is a "Firefox Button" at the top left corner, but I can't find it ! I only find usual Firefox icon with this page's title.
My computer is running on Windows Vista Service Pack 2. I install Firefox 4 beta 4 without uninstalling Firefox 3.

The Firefox button will be displayed if the menu bar is hidden. In the main menus select "View", then "Toolbars" to display a list of toolbars, then click on "Menu Bar" to hide the menu bar.

• Why doesnt the Firefox Button show for my Computer which is a Windows?

My Firefox is the latest version yet i do not have the Firefox Button. I have the old fashion File, Edit, View, etc. options on the top of my page.
''Locking as duplicate, continue here - [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/932725]''

On Windows XP the default setup is to show the old style menus, but you can easily switch to using the Firefox button instead. In the View menu select Toolbars, then click the "Menu Bar" entry to deselect it.

• I am unable to find the Firefox button referred to in the following: At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options

Every instruction Mozilla offers to find or to do something contains a term or a phrase that is indeciphrable.
I have been trying to change "Cookie Settings" so of course Mozilla advises me to click the Mozilla button at the top of the page. And of course there is no Mozilla button at the top of the page. Then after wading through Mozilla's arcane and moronic help sections I end up at the following:
Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar.
Why don't I see it? (the Firefox button)
Apparently the Firefox button is a new feature added in Firefox 4 to replace the Menu Bar. The menu bar is displayed instead of the Firefox button to make Firefox look like other Windows XP programs. Windows XP? Are you kidding me? Windows XP. Earth to Mozilla: Have you heard of Windows 8 or Windows 8.1?
Then your instructions go on to refer to Windows Vista and Windows 7. JFC!
Then, under "How to get it?" Mozilla offers the following gem:
Right click on an empty section of the "Tab Strip" and uncheck "Menu Bar" om the pop-up menu.
WHAT IS A TAB STRIP; and WHERE IS THE TAB STRIP? Again, JFC!
Since these instructions refer to Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, apparently these instructions haven't been upgraded for more than 2 years. No wonder Mozilla is a non-profit organization. There is no way that this organization could ever be profitable under any other structure.
