An iPhone 3G can't be updated past iOS 4.2.1, or run any applications which require iOS 4.3 or newer. A third generation iPod touch can't be updated past 5.1.1.

Certain routers have setting where un-recognized devices automatically get kicked off. Or else you are connected to someone elses router and they don't like that! Just ask the service provider.

Could just be an Apple problem. So far I have seen another post today with same problem.

You don't need an Apple ID to use a "classic" iPod. You only need a computer (Mac or PC) that can run iTunes. If your iPod is older, your computer does not even need to run the latest version of iTunes. You can add songs to your iTunes library from music CDs, and song files you have already. Then sync the iPod to that iTunes library.

If you are using the same user account on your computer that may be the problem. The iTunes settings will be different for each user account.

Sad to say your out of luck and iOS 7 won't come to iPod 4 ever because iOS 7 require at least 512mb of RAM where the iPod 4 only has 256mb of RAM. Think about upgrading to a iPod 5 as it will also support iOS 8 and it about 2x+ faster than the iPod 4 so games will run better. It also has features like a better camera, etc.

I just got the first gen of ipod touch as a hand me down from my brother...But It won't let me put any apps on it....I recall one time seeing an option to buy the update that allows you to put applications on your ipod, is it not there anymore? or is there some other way to get my stuff going?

Why doesn't Apple make FaceTime a downloadable app which forces At@t to allow FaceTime to everyone?

Okay, everyone who has AT&T knows they are messing with FaceTime by restricting its use over cellular. Lawsuits pending unhappy iPhone users. Apple can make this all go away by creating an update that makes FaceTime a downloadable App, thereby forcing AT&T to lift their restriction of buy the data share package to use FaceTime over cellular. I know this is not Apples fault but they were aware that this was in the works prior to ios6 release and the neutrality laws AT&T is using to charge for FaceTime. So, I ask that Apple to look into this possible solution and put an end to all this with one update?

Apple caters to the carriers, and FaceTime over cellular pulls a lot of data. Each carrier who has requested that it be disabled has already stress tested their network and found FaceTime to be an excessive load. Unfortunately, allowing it would slow down data for everyone.

By default, Automatic Downloads are activated on the iPod touch. To deactivate Automatic Downloads, go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores, and turn off all Automatic Downloads

i got my ipod for christmas this year so its only been like 7 months or something\and it stoped charging and its pluged in i think the wires down were the charger connects either broke off or are bent or somethings in there... but heres the full story so you can help me better
so a while ago my ipod stoped charging then i was able to bend or do something i dont really know what to the wires at the bottom were the charger goes in maybe theres something stuck in it?... but now it stoped charging again and i tried the fix it like i did last time, it didnt work.. i dont really know what to do from there so thats why i need your help... the ipods never been cracked never been droped and it was charging fine yesterday and this morning now its 8pm and its dead cant get on it at all and yes it is plugged into the wall and the device,and we have power soo HELP is greatly appreciated now(: please and thank youu

Why does my iPod say "Unable to Download Application"? Other apps will download just fine and updating apps isn't an issue either, it's just this one app.

A few days ago, I tried to redownload Sims FreePlay onto my iPod. I needed more room to update it to the latest update so the app just stayed on my screen but it's as if it's waiting to download. Today, I freed up a good 2GB of space on my iPod so the app should have no problem downloading. Instead of downloading, it says "Unable to Download Application" and that it could not be installed at this time. I downloaded a new app that downloaded with zero problems and I even updated an app with no trouble at all. I've also tried to delete the app so that I could just restart the download but nothing seems to work. Please help me. My progress that's stored on the cloud is going to expire either tomorrow or Saturday.

That meassage and that you can downoad other apps indicates an Apple problem. Nothing you can do except keep trying.
