If you confirmed the headphones are not the problem.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

in and out of the port 5 or 6 to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

I can charge my 5th generation Nano either with the Apple USB cable connected to my Mac or when it is plugged to the wall outlet. Not suprisingly, it recahrges much faster when plugged into the electric outlet.

I recieved a brand new 7th generation ipod nano. no matter what I plug into the device to listen to my music (headphones, earbuds, speakers), there is no sound coming from the device. even when I attempt to use only the built- in speakers, i can hear nothing. video works fine.
First, ipod nano 7th gen does not have a built-in speaker. Second, a brand new nano jack is sometimes ifficult to insert, make sure it is fully inserted or flushed to the ipod body. Cheers!

it will work every now and then, but for months it will stop working and turn black and purple. i dont understand why! ive tried restarting it but it wont help
did you damage it? because it sounds like its been damaged one way or another. becuase if you did thats a hard ware issue that WONT be fixed by basic troubleshooting. the only real thing you can do for hardware damage is take it to apple and let them look it and let them fix it for you ( if they offer that in your area)

Why does my Ipod play at a low volume? When I have my earbuds in I have to have it at almost full volume, and when I plug it into a boombox it doesn't play as loud as the radio or a cd. I have the volume limit turned all the way up in the settings also. All my songs on my Ipod were burned from cd's(if that helps) thanks.

I tried Omni Sweep, but all it did was confirm the space I counted up.
Still does not show what's hidding. 113GB worth on mine.
That software really boggs down the system.
I could not load an email with it running.

Why is my router not working for my PS3, PSP, anymore and why isn't it working for my iPod touch?
I have the Linksys WRT54G wireless router, and for a while now it has worked well for my desktop computer, my sister's laptop, my PS3 and my PSP. Recently I got an Ipod touch and tried to set up my wireless connection and nothing worked, so I checked on my PS3 and PSP and they aren't connecting either. It always says something like exchanging key information, and still doesn't work. I'm getting very aggravated, I've reset the router several times and nothing. Keep in mind that my desktop computer, and my sister's laptop still works just fine, all the others devices don't work anymore. What can I do to fix this?
Upgrade the firmware on the router to the latest one and then set up WEP security on the router and change wireless channel to 11.

Seems to be an issue of busy servers.
Don't start more updates. Instead try to force the update of only one app (one of the apps where the upload is already in progress but hanging) by tapping on the app icon on the home screen. This way you can start / pause updates manually. Sometimes - if the server isn't as busy as it was the last days - the update will work (slowly).
If this doesn't work try to delete your apple id under "Settings -> iTunes & App Stores" first and re-enter username and password of your apple id. (I don't know if there's a coincidence but I did it and it worked for me.) -

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
