Why isnt osx mountain lion downloading

I bought a Mac App store card for 20 dollars downloaded osx mountain lion. but now its just stuck it only downloads a tiny lil bit then stops. Please help

Depending on your connection speed, it could take anywhere from 1-8 hours to download.  It's a 4GB download.
On the average 3Mbps home network connection, it will take 3-4 hours to download.

  • HT203421 unfinished osx mountain lion download cannot be located on my mac

Started downloading osx mountain lion from appstore and got to 4.1G of 4.4G before interruption. No icon found when accessing app store's interrupted purchases and no evidence of the downloaded portion on my Macbook pro. New download started when I re-accessed app stores: 1) Am i going to get billed a second time ?and 2) what happened to the almost completed initial download?

    1. When you purchase OS X Mountain Lion, you can install it as many times as you need in all your Macs for free.
    2. If your Internet connection was interrupted and you didn't pause the download or you restarted or shut down your Mac, the download is gone. You have to download Mountain Lion again from the Mac App Store. In order to not lose it, open a Finder window, select Applications in the sidebar and copy the Mountain Lion installer to another folder like Documents, so you won't have to redownload Mountain Lion anymore

  • HT202159 OSX Mountain Lion download problems

    Hello,
I have been trying to download OSX Mountain Lion from the appstore on my 10.6.8 mac mini but the file stops downloading after about 10mb. I was able to download 10.7 without any problems but I am not able to downlaod 10.8 on either of my two machines. Both stop at about 10mb. Anyone seen this or have any possible solutions?
    Thanks!

I have seen this, unfortunately there are 100 & 1 different things that can cause this. If you want to trouble shoot, let's power-cycle both your modem and router and see how that goes.

  • OSX Mountain Lion download Spanish - English

I live in Spain and bought Mountain Lion to upgrade Snow Loepard online via the Spanish App Mac Store.
They emailed me the licence agrremenet and codes to download.
My Aple user ID is English and when I try to see my purchases in the Spanish App Store to download it says that it's not possible wiht my ID (although I was able to purchase it without a problem on the Spanish App Mac store) and tranfers me to the English version of App Store which says I have 'no purchased apps'.
There are also no downloadable versions on the Apple Mac store website as they only have Mavericks availabe to download.
    Can anyone help please?

    There's been a development.
I managed to redeem my order in the App store after changing my ID to Spain.
First problem is they have sent me Lion when I ordered Mountain Lion. And I am bloody sure it was mountain Lion, why would I buy Lion for the same price??? I distinctly remember the picture so no idea how this has happened but it's very frustrating.
Second problem, it's in my 'purchases' but when you try and click on it, it trys to download then nothing happens. When you click on the item it says not currently available in the Apple store Espana!
I would love a refund but fear this could be even more complicated or impossible.
They have already taken the money out of my bank account.
I'm worried about trying to buy it again in case the exact same thing happens.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • OSX Mountain Lion download not included on MBPr 15"?

    Hello everybody!
I have a Macbook pro retina 15" and just accidently bought mountain lion via appstore beacuse a thought it was free as my macbook was shipped with mountain lion. I was not logged in on my account so the buy button did say the price, I just assumed it should be free as I already have it on my mac so i pressed it and logged in on my account to proceed the download, I got a receipt of it today.
should it be this way? I just wanted to make and USB bakup of the OS for future needs. It's not alot of money, I just think it is a bit wierd.

Since your system came with Mountain Lion pre-installed you wouldn't use the App Store version as your pre-installed version is specific to that machine.
To get the InstallESD.dmg file for your version of ML you need to redownload it using the following steps:
Restart using Command+R into the Recovery HD.
Plug in an external USB drive with at least 20GB.
From the OS X Utilities menu select Reinstall OS X.
Follow the prompts and make sure you point to the external USB drive to install to.
IMPORTANT: You need to keep an eye on the download and as soon as it finishes and restarts your system (at the black screen), UNPLUG the external USB drive.
After you system restarts and you get to your Desktop, plug the external USB drive into your system and navigate to a folder name something like "OS X Install Data Files". Inside there you will find the InstallESD.dmg file.
Copy the InstallESD.dmg file to your Desktop.
Plug in a USB thumb drive (8GB). Make sure it is formated as Mac OS X Extended - Journaled and with the GUID partition table. This makes it bootable.
Open Disk Utilities; then the Restore tab.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg file to the Source text box.
Drag your USB thumb drive to the Destination text box.
Click Restore. This will create a bootable USB thumb drive with the pre-installed OS X Mountain Lion for your machine
    Good luck!

Hi, i'm having trouble downloading Mountain Lion to my laptop, I bought it from the app store downloaded it to my Imac and everything went fine. Now I'm trying to download it from my purchases to my MacBook Pro and it says the following:
We could not complete your purchase.
The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I don't get it, please help!
tip: Could it be because i recently signed in with another apple id in this computer??

    Thanks for the reply.

Re: Corrupt Mountain Lion File @ App Store?
Jul 26, 2012 1:32 AM    (in response to NoPCZone)
What worked for me - no restart required - after reading all these posts...
    1. Disable Virusbarrier X6 (Launch X6, go to preferences > advanced tab, and switch the big slider to 'off'.
    2. Launch the Console.app (in Applications > Utilities)
    3. Once Console launches, go to View > Clear display (this clears the screen, gets rid of the clutter)
    4. Launch the App Store, and try to buy Mountain Lion - you'll get the error message as before.
    5. Quit the App Store.
    6. Go back to Console - and open the folders of information displayed in the viewer window.
    7. In amongst all the gobbledegook text on screen is a parth to the var/folders/ directory. The folder you are looking for will have a name like d3 or zz (it differs on each machine).
    8. Once you know the name of the problem folder - go to the Finder, and choose 'Go to Folder' (Cmd-Shif-G)
    9. Type in /var/folders in the Go To Folder dialog and click 'Go'
    10. In the window that appears, you should see the folder you're looking for, and maybe 1 or 2 others.
    11. Drag the problematic folder out on to the desktop (you may need to authenticate to do this) and save this folder in a new folder - 'old var file' or whatever.
    12. Select the problematic folder from it's original window, and delete it - Cmd-Delete, and it disappears (but you have the backup copy, just in case. Apparently a new folder will automatically be re-created (by FInder or App Store) - so don't fret too much about removing this folder. And you can always copy your 'backup' back here, if there's a problem.
    13. Re-launch the App Store, and try purchasing Mountain Lion. For me - this now worked!
The above worked on a mid-2009 MacBook Pro. I tried a few other suggestions - e.g. re-installing the 10.7.4 combo update but it didn't make a difference. It certainly looks like VirusBarrier X6 is the culprit.
I am currently downloading Mountain Lion - but I did update X6 beforehand to the latest verison, which is supposedly 'Mountain Lion ready'. Once downloaded and installed, I'll go back to VirusBarrier and switch it back on.
    Good luck folks!

  • Why is my Mountain Lion download hanging after 53 MB

I am trying to download Mountain Lion from the AppStore and am unable to complete the download.  I have a MacBook Pro from early 2011 with OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).  I have done the partial download multiple times, trying to pause and resume as well as canceling and purchasing the app store item again.  I have tried downloading while in Safe Mode.  Each time the download runs fine up to the point where it reaches 53.25 MB and then it hangs.  At that point it is frozen and doesn't  restart  no matter what I do. Does anybody have a similar problem?  Does anybody have a solution?

Hi, I posted this reply on a similar discussion - this solved it for me...
I was also getting stuck at 53.25mb and tried several solutions on the forum.
A possible reason I have found is if you are (as I am) on BT Broadband using a 2-Wire Hub because there is apparently a 2GB download limit (not heard this of this before). I read this on MacRumors and that BT plan to release a firmware upgrade to sort the problem.
In the meantime I switched to another non-BT wireless network in the same building and hey presto the download is flying.
Haven't tried the hotspot shield solution.

  • Where is the OSX Mountain Lion download for 19.99?

Looking for the download from apple store for $19.99 Mac OS X v 10.7 lion? should have been in as of Juky1, 2012?

Are you looking for Lion (10.7) or Mountain Lion (10.8)?
Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8) release is announced for sometime in July, not any particular data.  You just have to wait like the rest of us for a few more days at most.

  • HT4463 OSX Mountain Lion download fails using MacBook wireless connection

I've tried to complete this download about 8-10 times.  It fails at some point, and there when I restart from Purchases, I have to start from the beginning.  What's going on?  I'm connected on AC power, have PowerSave options turned off so it won't go into sleep, and I've disabled all screensavers.  Yet, when I come back to my download after about ~3 hours (into a 4 hour download), the Mac has been "reset" to user login screen.
Also when the app is downloading, the only progress bar I have is either in Purchases or in Launchpad:  So this quote from your help document is wrong
When you find an app that you like, click Buy (you may be asked to sign in with your Apple ID). For more information about Apple ID, please see this article. When you click Buy, the app will begin downloading automatically, and the app icon will be added to your Dock with a progress bar below the app icon. Once the app is done installing, the progress bar below the app icon will go away.
