Why itunes deleted my music

I went to use my itunes today and it was empty?? how can i fix this? please help

iTunes probably has lost the connection to your iTunes Library.
Hold down the options-key and double-click the iTunes icon. This will show you the panel to select your iTunes LIbrary.

  • While syncing movie iPod/iTunes deletes my music and Podcasts

While syncing movie iPod/iTunes deletes my music and Podcasts. This is very frustrating becaucse I have ALL my sync settings set to Manual. What can I do to stop this? I'm about to throw my iPod against the wall!

sorry you've just been dealt a blow from Apple trying to "help" its customers. you're correct: you cannot sync only music or movies. even if "manually sync" is selected, once you sync something like moves, the rest of your library gets deleted. it's completely backwards and non-intuitive.

  • Itunes Deleted My Music

I updated ITunes to the latest version and I seem to have deleted my music. I asked my friend who also have the same issue but she said she found her music in one of her school folder after she searched for it.
I have gone through my computer, by folder and through the search program as the "ITunes Resolution" site said. Still i have yet to find my music or get any help with this issue.
I searched for .m4p, .m4v, .m4b, .mp4, .m4r, .m4a, .ipa, ipg, .ite, .itlp, or .epub to my search bar, and i continually got no results. That is the only thing the ITunes Support said to do. But this didn't work for me and I paid a lot of money for all my music and I think it's pretty ridiculous that I can't get any help on getting it back.
I called the help line and a computer told me that because I didn't have a Mac it couldn't help me and to look it up on the site. I am still a consumer of Apple good, I don’t see why I get less service because I choose a different OS.
I want to know any other suggestions about what i can do or even better who i can talk to help me my music back or at least get some kind of retribution for all the music I lost.
    Respectfully,
    KS

Sounds like you're a new PC user? Is this on a school network and you need to search on another drive? Your recycle bin? Ask your friend to sit with you & help?
This is what the Apple folks probably suggested

It doesn't matter whether you're on a Windows PC or a Mac - if those files are deleted and you don't have a backup, they are GONE. That paragraph at the end applies to WIndows & Mac
    "Still can't find them?"
You can ask for a re-grant of your downloads. The worst that can happen, is they say no.

Going forward, there are lots of built-in Windows helps on backing up important files.

  • ITunes deletes all music from my iPhone 6 when I sync

Just now when I tried to add some new music to my Iphone 6 (iOS 8.1.3) the songs appeared greyed out, but won't actually copy. When I hit the Sync button, steps 1-5 happened in a matter of seconds and then all the music (about 100gb) went offline - showing the ! next to each track. Further Sync attempts did the same super-fast 1-5 steps without actually doing anything.
This is not the first time this has happened, and it takes over an hour to copy all the files back to my phone. Please help!

    Howdy Luna527,
You’ll have have change the Sync Music settings in iTunes, to delete the music from your iPhone and stop it from being synced back on to it when you connect it to your MacBook, as shown in the article linked below.

  • ITunes deletes all music from CDs from my iPhone

I recently purchased a new iPhone 6. I transferred all my apps, photos, music etc to the new phone and everything appeared fine. However every time I sync the phone with iTunes all of my music that was not purchased through iTunes (e.g. CDs that I imported into iTunes) gets deleted from my phone. However it does not show up as deleted until I try to play it, at which point my phone skips through all the songs showing a red square next to them. I have iTunes set up to sync my entire music library. The only way I know how to get all the songs back is to delete all music from the phone each time I sync with iTunes and let iTunes copy everything back to my phone (and avoid syncing with my PC unless I really have to). Once re-synced everything is fine until I sync the phone with iTunes again at which point all my music other than iTunes purchases are removed from my phone.

I have had the same problem for two months and have tried many different suggestions with no luck. Have you been given any answers from apple?

  • Why is itunes deleting my music?

I uploaded a song to my library this afternoon and it deleted two other songs by this artist at the same time.
I managed to to get them back by uploading them from a usb rather than my computer (which didn't work)
I googled the problem and solutions suggested was to upgrade the software.. so i did.
I upgraded to 11.0.4.4 itunes and now it is deleting all of my music.
If you click on one song it will swap it for another and if you try to fix that one it will swap it for another. Some songs have disappeared completely.
This is manking me very sad. I love my music
If anyone can help me I would be very grateful x

You want safe, back up your files.  Run a script such as Dougscripts "List MIA" to make sure something isn't missing (at least in terms of resulting in a broken link) before backing up over an older backup.  Of course if both the file and the reference to it in iTunes goes missing then it's a matter of knowing something is missing.  The only cure for that I can think of is to cumulatively add files to a huge hard drive and never delete anything from that drive at all.
iTunes occasionally loses things.  Reason?  Don't know. It could be user error. It could be some glitch causes a file to be lost.  It could be your hard drive directory is corrupt (verify with Disk Utility).

  • ITunes deleted the music in my iPod

I have a 3rd generation iPod touch that I've been using for years. I've been plugging my iPod in to my MacBook Air to listen to music as well as charging it for a while now, nothing has ever gone wrong.
Until one night, I decided to charge my iPod and listen to some old tunes. I listen to ONE song and it stops playing after a couple minutes in. While browsing on my computer, I switch back to iTunes window to see what's up. Next thing I know, exclamation mark starts to appear on every song I click to play.
(Now I understand about syncing, iTunes library, and purchase history...etc) I never have my iPod on in auto syncing, as a matter of fact everything is mostly, almost entirely, in manual mode.
I have my songs on my old computer's iTunes library. Basically, I don't have anything on my Air. But I figured as long as I don't sync my iPod to my Library or delete/change anything, the files will remain in my iPod. Is that wrong? Am I misunderstanding something? Why did iTunes automatically remove my music? If so, why now?
I have the 12th version iTunes, well according to the info I just looked up. Who knows what other lies are hidden. Anyways please help, please....
*The songs are gone on my iPod, but I can see the 'missing files' on my iTunes. Basically, I see my 'old music list', but it's not really there to let me listen to it. Any hope?

Also, what causes this, so I can avoid it in the future?

  • Itunes deleted all music on Ipod and now Itunes won't respond to it.

I plugged my ipod into itunes, for no apparent reason all my music was then deleted off my ipod, and now it wont respond when i plug it back in so i can't sync it, the screen goes grey with the apple sign.

You are not alone, exactly the same happened here to our ipod classic and we really need to know why this is and what to do. Is it an itunes update glitch? Is it the harddrive?

  • Will un-installing and then re-installing my iTunes delete my music?

When I updated my iTunes last, my CD-drive stopped working. iTunes now gives me a message that says I must reinstall iTunes in order for it to read CDs in the disc drive properly. But if I delete iTunes, and then reinstall it, will I lose all my music? I have a PC, and use Windows.
    Many thanks.

  • New iTunes deleted iPhone music.

after upgrading to 11.0 (and successive), all my music was deleted from my iPhone and won't restore with sync. All playlists are checked...even tried to make new playlists following the instructional video without much success.  Any hints as to what is going on?

This is what happens on my iTunes and iPod Touch.
In iTunes, while syncing, I get this display:
If I press "Restore Backup," it restores my previous iTunes library, with all the audio, video, podcasts, etc. from before.
If I were to Restore my iPod (as I've done on several occasions), it takes about a half-hour or so update the OS and store the data from my previous library.
One of the nice things about iOS is that, as long as you have the original documents, you have the option to Restore the system anew. When it asks you, you're going to choose a prior iTunes library, not a new one. If you made a mistake, Restore again, and choose the prior iTunes library.

  • ITunes deletes all music expect purchased

I plugged my iPod in to my computer and iTunes opened, i was adding music manually because i had recently added a new CD to my computer. When i tried to add any music files that were no originally purchased from the iTunes store it would delete it. The thing is i go on to iTunes itself and it shows that all my music is there both purchased songs and manual added songs. When i actually go get on my device (ipod 5th gen.) it's all only just purchased music. I tried to add the music all back but by the time i get any music basically added back through it after deleting it off my iPod it just ends up deleting the songs and again leaving only purchased songs on my iPod. I'm not sure on to entirely how to fix it but I'm really disappointing on iTunes behalf, this is not the first time this has happened and i highly doubt it will be the last. Last time it fixed itself but i have no idea how on earth what had triggered it but i hate this happens so often.

I have had the same problem for two months and have tried many different suggestions with no luck. Have you been given any answers from apple?

  • Itunes delete my music in my iPhone 4 iOS 6.1 I'm new mac mini

ahen connect a iphone 4 ios 6.1 to new mac mini all of my music vidoe was delete , after i sync to the new mac mini , how can i restor , i did a bucup.

I'm having similar issues just lately. The phone itself is very slow to respond to the touch, just scrolling between home screens is a chore at times. There have been about 2 incidents of random vibration from it. Closing home screen folders takes a couple of attempts. I find that I'm also having delayed keyboard responses when typing messages to my contacts.
Also, sometimes when I press the sleep/wake button it takes about 30 seconds to register it and actually lock or wake up.
Have you experienced the backlight failing to light up? Like if I get a message it flashes up then goes black straight after and when you press the sleep/wake or home button it lights up again but very very dimly and you have to press the sleep/wake button as if locking it and then press it again to bring the screen up properly?
Mine is also on 6.1.3(10B329), model MD245B/A, obviously not Jailbroken, carrier unlocked from Vodafone (but that was months and months ago). Roughly 17gb of storage space left.
This has only started happening in the last 2 weeks. Haven't tried the reset or anything yet though.

  • ITunes deletes iPod music

Whenever I sync my iPod, it takes all the music off. However, it still says the iPod is full of music in the main panel in iTunes. No matter how many times I sync it, the music won't appear.

Hi there. I have had the same problem recurring intermittently about 5 times over recent months, for no apparent reason - all my ipod touch content suddenly wiped. The only way to rebuild it is to completely restore everything - ios 6 operating software, saved backup data plus the entire itunes & iphoto content from my macbook pro. Obviously very time consuming and worrying. I eventually called apple support (I'm in the UK) and I was advised to trash itunes 11.0.1, download it again from the web and reinstall. Its only been about a week, so too soon to tell, but so far its been stable.
