Enable the guest account in Windows 7 and see if itunes will open in that account.
This will tell us if it's a user-specific problem, or system-wide.
Then work through the steps here, depending on what you find in the guest account.

I've tried a previous post that suggested a bonjour fix and it didn't work for my problem.I really hate that EVERY time I do an itunes update I go through major issues to work out the bugs!!! I love my ipod, but this is becoming more of a problem than the thing is worth to me.

  • ITunes not opening with windows 7

iTunes has stopped working on my sony laptop. I have uninstaed all aspects and reloaded. When you click the shortcut or from main menu nothing happens.
Whe you look at properties iTunes is now not compatiable !!!what is going on !
    Please please help

Thanks again. That's got a few things ruled out.
I'd like to check to see if the problem is systemwide, or if it is limited to a single Windows user account. (This is not a cure in itself, but may help narrow in on possible culprits.)
Create a new Windows User account on the PC with full administrative rights. Log out of your normal account and log into the new account. (Don't use Fast User Switching to move between accounts.)
Try launching Safari in the new user account. Does it launch properly in there, or do you get the same sort of behaviour as in the normal user account?

  • I cannot get itunes to open with windows 7 64 bit

    Remove iTunes Preference files
Some of the files that iTunes uses to store settings and preferences may be unusable and cause issues. iTunes has two folders where preferences are saved. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes

  • ITunes 12 incompatible with Windows Vista Data Execution Prevention

I just did a clean install of iTunes 12.0.1 after removing 11.4 and other components as described in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. I'm running Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2 with 3 GB RAM. Soon after closing the iTunes GUI, I get a Data Execution Prevention notification:
I have already tested with every DEP setting except AlwaysOff, which would globally disable an important Windows security feature and is therefore not to be recommended. The problem is apparently a Buffer Overflow Exception. Here are the details from one instance:

This is actually not a new problem. As an experienced user of 32-bit Vista, I would have to say that the last compatible iTunes version was 11.1.5. See also Windows Vista problem reports after latest Itunes 11.2 update.

I have been getting a "Vista Data Execution Prevention" error message whenever I closed iTunes for months now, and after reading through a few forums, I have found a solution that works.  Long story short:
    1) Start iTunes
    2) Open the Windows Task Manager
    3) Go to the "Proccess" Tab
    4) Find "AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe *32" and right click on it.
    5) Select "Properties" from the drop down menu
    6) Go to the "Compatibility" Tab
    7) Check the Box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    8) If "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is not in the field below, click on the down arrow and select said option.
    9) Click on "OK" to close the window.
    10) Close the iTunes application
    11) Reopen the iTunes application
    12) Close the iTunes application again.
At this point you should not see anymore "Vista Data Execution Prevention" error messages when you close iTunes!
P.S.   If you want to go back and de-select running "AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe *32" in Windows XP Compatibility mode, you can.  Though this part is totally optional.  The next time you close iTunes, you will get one last "Vista Data Execution Prevention" error message, but don't worry, it will be the last one.  Try opening iTunes again and then closing it, and TaDa, no more error messages.  I don't know why running AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe *32 in compatibility mode JUST ONCE solves the problem, but it worked for me.

  • Itunes doesnt Open, at all

Ive been having this problem for a while on my laptop, Itunes doesnt open when i plug my Iphone in, or even when i open it seperatly. The process shows up in process manager but the itunes window never appears. I have tryed Uninstalling and re installing everything but it still occurs.
    Any help?

Some questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits.
    (1) Does your QuickTime Player launch, or do you get an error message of some kind when you try to launch that?
    (2) If your QuickTime Player seems to be launching fine, try (by way of experiment) disabling the BonJour Service.
In your Start Menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Maximise the window to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the BonJour Service and select "Properties". In the "General" tab, set Start-up type to "Disabled".
Restart the PC, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch this time?
If iTunes launches with the BonJour Service disabled, by any chance do you have a recent version of IOBit's Advanced SystemCare utility installed on the PC? If so, try uninstalling and reinstalling Advanced SystemCare. Can you launch iTunes with the BonJour Service enabled, now?

If you're using the 32-bit version and still having issues, you may need to repair or reinstall Office so that the underlying Office DLLs (on which those browser features rely) are clean.
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/27319/how-do-i-enable-open-in-explorer
You might be using 64-bit Internet Explorer. Switching to 32-bit IE caused the featured to become enabled. There was absolutely no indication in the application that this could possible be the cause. It was a shot in the dark.
    Mind: blown.
The Plan Browser Support article on TechNet lists the supported browsers and limitations in "non- or partially supported browsers".
It states the following among the limitations for 64bit IE 7, 8 and 9:
    Explorer view
Removed in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Libraries that have been upgraded from earlier versions of SharePoint Foundation 2010 may still have Explorer views and these may not work.

  • My ITunes doesnt open

my ITunes doesnt open because it needs the version of quicktime 7.5.5 but i alredy did that and it still doesnt open

    QuickTime 7.5.5 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL27
    QuickTime 7.7 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/dl761
= New version of Quicktime installed but application reports it needs to have that version installed =
Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications.  One person had re-installed their operating system.  It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize.  Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem.  Do this manually, not with Software Update.

Welcome tocguy. If I may ask you a question: How much memory does your Vista x64 PC have? I have 3 GB, which is the maximum that 32-bit Vista can recognize, but I seem to recall that 64-bit Vista can utilize much more than that, and wonder if that might be why 64-bit users are scarce in the 11.2 thread.
I have now also done a truly clean reinstall, deleting Apple folders in ProgramData and each user account's AppData folder, and even the iTunes folders in each user's Music folder. Of course I moved my iTunes Media folder to a safe location first, and one iTunes Library backup file suitable for version 11.1.5. I also cleaned the registry. The most I can say is that I sometimes don't get a BEX upon closing iTunes now, but usually I do. I deselected one default setting during installation, "Use iTunes as the default player for audio files." (If an audio file can be opened by Media Player 11, why would I want to open it in a program that gives me a BEX nearly every time I use it? Too bad my AAC files purchased at iTunes Store can't be opened by WMP, but I certainly won't be buying any more of those now.) My advice to other Vista users: Don't waste your time reinstalling, it won't solve the DEP problem.
Ran the Program Compatibility Wizard to run iTunes in XP SP2 compatibility mode, but abandoned that idea after the first BEX.
Thought I was onto something when I tried the registry fix at http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/06/17/to-dep-or-not-to-dep.aspx. Johnny DEP thought he was so slick when he saw iTunes listed as an exception in his DEP tab, but there was one minor problem (yes I did reboot):
Oh well, it's probably a bad idea to allow buffer overruns anyway. The fact that this didn't work causes me to think that Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit or Application Compatibility Toolkit would also be a waste of time. Vista users who wish to avoid BEX errors can either downgrade their iTunes (free) or upgrade their Windows (not free).

  • ITunes "severe problem" with Windows XP Pro - Version: 6.0.2

I installed iTunes 6.0.2. It worked fine at very first time after that it refuses to reconzie my iPod. After installing iTunes, when i connect the iPod i got the New device found icon in the system tray and my iTunes got opened with my iPod detect in that. Then i uploaded my songs photos in it. Then safely removed my iPod. The next time onwards i connect my iPod my Windows XP detects it show icon in the system tray for new device found open iTunes but iPod is not detected in iTunes I tried install/uninstall/repair everything with iPod and iTune. (Tried all the possible combination and evrytime ending up my box rebooting...pathetic with no results )
I can't believe that Apple is boneheaded enough to release a version of iTunes that was buggy to Windows XP Prof machines, so if anyone figures out what's specifically wrong with a few including mine, please shout out.
