Why labView for LEGO and not for VEX?

I am a math professor and we are trying to teach math trough robots. The hardware platform we have is VEX and I think that the programming part, at least for us in our dept., will be the most difficult. I did not see any thinng like labView in the VEX platform. Why? Any sugestions?
Thank you .

Hello Manuel,
Unfortunately there are currently no plans to add VEX support for LabVIEW, here's a similar post. Besides support for LEGO, another simple LabVIEW interface we offer is Arduino. If you want to use our extensive robotics options you may have to switch to the LEGO platform. Let me know any questions you have, have a nice weekend!

  • Why Final Cut X and Not Premier Pro?

I've been using FCP for many years and was shocked when FCX first came out. Thought it was just iMovie with a few more features. I know there was a big update to FCX which added a bunch of features that pros need (why Apple would didn't just wait 6 mos. and release THAT version first is beyond me, but that's another thread in itself).
I can't use FCP 6 forever, but I'm nervous to make the leap. I have to say, Premiere Pro CS6 is tantalizing and is fully supported people seem to love it.
I make :30 sec. TV/web spots mainly, with the occasional longer project thrown in. We already have CS5 so upgrading wouldn't be too bad.
Why Final Cut X and Not Premier Pro?
    Any advice is appreciated.

first of all: I'm no pro - my personal enthusiasm about FCPX doesn't help you
maybe some 'real world' examples from professionals using FCPX:
    http://fcp.co/final-cut-pro/news/906-making-a-music-video-shot-on-red-composited -in-after-effects-graded-in-resolve-and-edited-in-final-cut-pro-x

or this example from the Ripple Team:
    http://fcp.co/final-cut-pro/tutorials/905-lightning-fast-organisation-of-media-i n-final-cut-pro-x
... to illustrate the very different GUI and workflows of FCPX.
it's probably crucial when youre used to the 'old' (no offense ment!) metaphores.
I assume a perfect integration of Premiere with AE and PS ... (which would completely overstrain an hobbyist like me - way too much options ) - FCPX is in its actual version more an island (even no integration with/to Motion5)
best advice was already given twice:
test on your own - keep in  mind: it is very different ....

  • Does Instrument I/O Assistant only work in the activated version of LabView 8.0 and not in evaluation version?

I'm using the LabVIEW 8.0 evaluation CD and every time I try using the Instrument I/O Assistant I get this error message "Measurement and Automation Explorer or the Instrument I/O Assistant is not installed correctly. Please install these from the LabVIEW Driver CD." So I tried installing both from the Device Driver CD and still it didn't work. I also tried uninstalling all NI softwares and components and reinstalled everything from the LabVIEW evaluation CD and Device Driver CD and still the same result.
I was wondering maybe the Instrument I/O Assistant will only work after I activate LabVIEW. Is this the reason why I can't use it or does Instrument I/O Assistant also work even if I'm only using the evaluation version? Please help!

    Glynster -
Yes, Instrument I/O Assistant does work with the evaluation version of LabVIEW 8.0.  However, you need to install Instrument I/O Assistant from a version of the National Instruments Device Driver CD that shipped with LabVIEW 8.0 (or later).
NOTE: The link provided for Instrument I/O Assistant 1.0.1 DOES NOT work with LabVIEW 8.0. It is only for LabVIEW 7.x.
You will need to obtain a Driver CD to get Instrument I/O Assistant to work with LabVIEW 8.0

Why is iCal in German and not in English? And why does it cast its malign spell over Mail?

Go to the Settings app and check under General, International and see what language is set. Even if it correctly set, reset it.
If that doesn't work, try a rest of the iPad: hold down the On and Home buttons simultaneously until it shuts down. Ignore the Off slider if it appears. This will take 10 - 15 seconds or so. After it shuts down completely, press the On button to restart.

  • Why use ATI 4270 and not on die 6530D?

    HP Touchsmart 520Z, AMD A6-3600, 6GB memory, 1.0TB HDD
    Hi everyone,
Why do the 520Z models use the inferior ATI HD 4270 and not the much more powerful 6530D that is on the A6-3600 die?  Are they working in synergy, like crossfire?
Every single benchmark I've come across reveals that the 6530D is vastly superior to the 4270, what gives?

    SalemSwift, welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee, so this is strictly my opinion.  There are many different price points in the TouchSmart line.  So that they can offer these different prices, they have to pick their components carefully.  They want the computers to give the best performance possible with the combined components.  High-end video cards require more power to function properly.  The price must increase accordingly.

  • Softmotion module only runs on labview 32 bit and not labview 64 bit

    Good day everyone,
I downloaded the softmotion module for my Labview 2013 64 bit however when i try to create a new solidworks assembly there is no option for that.
But when I installed the 32 bit version of Labview 2013 I was able to see the option to create a new solidworks assembly.
Why can't I see the option for the Labview 2013 64 bit ?
    P.S I am using Solidworks 2014 64 bit Premium .
    Thanks

  • Why is it ln and not nl?

Heh, it isn't a problem, but I'm curious.
println() adds a new line att the end, but ln stands for line (I belive).
why not nl for newline, since it does add a new line?
printline and print is the same (namewise..).
Or does ln stand for something else?

no no no.... cuz if they had to call "printnl" for newline, then you'd need 3 versions:
    printnl - print + \n
    printcrnl - print + \r\n
    printcr - print + \r
to work on the systems that use each different one, then you'd need to have tests to see if the os.name is Windows or Mac or some Unix or whatever and figure out which to call yourself. But you you wouldn't do that, so you'd end up using plain "print" with "print(System.getProperty("line.separator"))" after every line creating more code, and those 3 methods would fall in to disuse. So Sun, in their infinite wisdom, said "let's make a "print-line" function, "println" for short which addes the proper line separator automatically"....

  • Why HTC Desire S and not HTC Wildfire S?

I just love Firefox and have used it almost scince it was born into this world.
It's just the fastest, eaysest and most reliable way to surf the webb, always has been and always will be.
So, now i wanted it for my Android phone as well but i was very dissapointed when i saw that it's still not available for my HTC Wildfire S but it's avaliable for HTC Desire S, why?
Best Wishes from a true Firefox user.'
Ps: Keep up the awesome work, the "www" is free for all and should stay so!

Firefox is built with an optimized instruction set (called "Thumb-2") to make it small and fast enough to run on mobile devices. Unfortunately, this optimization is not supported by the processors in many low-end or older Android phones.
We're working on other ways to make Firefox smaller or faster, so someday it might be possible to build a version that works without Thumb-2 and is compatible with these older devices. But for now, Firefox is just not ready to run on those devices.

  • Why is Verizon greedy and not pro-rating service?

Called today to cancel my acct and was told I have to wait 3 more weeks until end of cycle. That's not a customer-oriented policy. Why not pro-rate it and end it when customer wants to end it? Pro-rating will increase customer satisfaction and boost customer loyalty. Verizon, don't you get it? People are getting fed up with GREEDY Corporations. Namaste.

It has been in the contract as long as I can remember, many reps have come on here reinforcing that wording in the contract and countless people who have ported/canceled their service have also come on these forums complaining about their final bill NOT being pro-rated OR any refund being issued. This is for people in contract AND out of contract. Of course, you could be right and it may have been different at some point. For years, this is the way it has worked, though.
Personally, I have never ported a number out of Verizon, so I have no personal knowledge.
Are you speaking from personal experience? You ported out and are now back with Verizon???

  • Why no recording tracks and not enter the GPS coor...

It is interesting for sports (running, skiing, cycling, tracking)
I can not find the application running on a Nokia 2710 which can record my track, time, average speed and keep it on a flash card
Also interesting opportunity to send their GPS coordinates best with the help of SMS to my friends (which is important for security reasons). Also interesting is the input of GPS coordinates so that when you travel is not possible to install the application in an Internet cafe and noted the interest point on the map, as well as meet with their friends using GPS coordinates

That is probably because the 2710 is a low end model and uses the more basic S40 operating system. What you need is a Nokia S60 smartphone which support a raft applications which do exactly as you require including one called Sports Tracker.

  • Why "Single Edition-App" and not "Professional"?

    Hi, I've got 2 questions :
    1. We've  changed our Single Edition Account (two weeks ago) to a Professional Account.
Written in the DPS App Builder-panel is unfortunately still "Single-Edition-App."
How can I change this or is that normal?
    2. How can I make an App for the iPad AND for iPhone to distribute on the App Store?
Is that possible with my professional Account? And what's the correct App-Type for that? I only can choose "Multi Folios", "Multi Folios with iTunes Abonnement", "Adobe Content Viewer".
    Thanks for help

    Hi Phillipe,
you need to rebuild your app using DPS App Builder if you want to change the app type, it does not automatically change when you switch to Professional Edition. You will then also have to resubmit it to the App Store.
Professional Edition allows you to create an app for iPad and iPhone. The app type depends on the kind of content you are offering with your app. Multiple versions of the same folio aimed at different devices are called renditions. You would need to choose "Multi Folio" for that. If you want to enable your readers to subscribe to your publication you would need to select "Multi Folio with iTunes Subscription".
Your second question cannot be answered comprehensively in a forum post as it involves just too many things. There is a lot of documentation available on the DPS help pages on the topics of the different app types, app creation and app distribution. Maybe start with this article Understanding different types of DPS apps and take it from there. There is also a Publishing Companion Guide available to download from the the DPS Dashboard which I can recommend.

  • Toystore Question: why commit in action and not in form ?

I try to rebuild a processing like toystore uses for better understanding the ideas in it.
It's a very great example, has a nice documentation and the large idea works quickly, but the details fight back.
One I discovered is the processing of the commit in a struts action. Here the validation is already done and the phase of redisplaying the input page over. Nothing should go wrong.
But if I activate optimistic locking, the exception "row change by another user" or "cannot find row" (with a change indicator) raises here.
What is the recommended practice to deal with it ? Shouldn't I present the input page again to the user ? If so, can I read the updated row before it, without losing the error message ?
Or did I miss something important ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andreas

The struts action is definitely the place where any changes to the model should be done. Including commit when you want to commit.
Currently in the Toy Store Demo, if you simulate the row locked exception or row updated by another user" exception by locking/updating+committing the user account row in SQL*Plus before submitting the "Edit Existing Account" page, then the error will cause the BC4J-specific Struts declarative error page to present the error to the user.
If you would rather present this condition as a struts error on the top of the form, you would just need to add a try/catch block around the commit in ToystoreUpdateAction.java file, and then follow logic similar to what goes on in the oracle.jbo.html.struts11.action.UpdateAction's execute method when the call to validate() returns a non-empty errors object.
You'd need to create a struts ActionErrors object and add an ActionError to it, representing the error for the user, and then save the action errors and return the appropriate forward. See the block of code that starts at line 80 of UpdateAction.java for clues.

  • ITunes equalizer: why just a few and not all categories??

    Hi, I was wondering if there is an equalizer set for House Music, Progressive House Music and all of genres of music that we can find in the world biggest dance music online store: Beatport. Is there anyone that know how to preset the equalizer for that kind of music? It's bad that in iTunes and iTunes Store House/Progressive/Trance (etc.) music is grouped on "Dance Music";
Anyone that know how to do it?????

That's the idea. Create a new album in iPhoto with those photos in it, or you can copy the photos to a folder on your desktop, and select that folder from the desktop, or select that album in iPhoto in the Sync Photos From menu in the Photos tab in iTunes when you sync.
