Why Lightroom + Photoshop? And what about Camera Raw ??
Please tell me if I need Lightroom along with Photoshop? I'm confused. I use Photoshop every day for editing photos, etc. I used Bridge daily as well. And, often Camera Raw. Do I still need Lightroom?

The key word here is, "need". All of the Camera Raw capabilities are part of Lightroom. You can do the same raw processing with either program. The difference is in the user interface and workflow. Personally, I prefer Lightroom to Camera Raw. But I'm sure you will find that opinions vary. You can download the trial version of Lightroom and use it for 30 days and see how it integrates with Photoshop. Then maybe you can decide for yourself. I suspect, however, since you are accustomed to using Photoshop and Camera Raw that you will probably feel that Lightroom just gets in the way. I didn't like Lightroom when I first started using it. But it is my favorite postprocessing software now.

I have Photoshop Lightroom 5 and have downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.1 &DNG converter successfully. I have a new Sony Alpha 7 11 model ILCE-A7M2 that is supported by LR5. I am still not able to see the RAW pictures. The message says preview unavailable for this file DSC-ARW. Whatelse I should be doing to see my pictures? Can someone help?
AnitaThe support for that camera was added in the very latest release of Lightroom, version 5.7.1. Having downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.1 will have no effect on Lightroom because Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. You need to make sure you have updated Lightroom to the very latest release in order to have support for that camera.

I tend to use Bridge ALOT and just recently i have come across the warning message above, t won't let me open my RAW images in Camera Raw in Bridge. Please could someone help me solve this problem it has hulled my work and its pilling up behind me

First thing to try, if it had worked before, is to Purge the Cache in Bridge.

Why does photoshop cs6 show two camera raw plugins?
I'm running CS6 on a Mac Pro 1,1 version 10.6.8. I installed the most recent update from adobe (8.4). I did the full install and apparently it's only meant for version 10.7 and higher, but my CS6 still works. I did remove that camera raw file and installed the recommended one (ACR V 8.3.0.141). The program is slower now. When I click on 'About Plug in' it lists 2 'Camera Raw' folders. (there is only one camera raw plug in within the 'File Formats' folder, I did remove the 8.4 version) When I click on the first one it pops up an error message: Could not complete the Camera Raw command because the file was not found. I also am now getting this message occasionally when trying to open jpg files. When I click on the second Camera Raw it pops up the plug in Version 8.3.0.141. Is there any way of un-installing that update or the first version of the plug in?
Please file an Adobe (not Apple) crash report the next time it crashes and send me the email address you used in the crash report. That way we get all the important information we need to help figure this out.

Close Photoshop first, then:
Download the 8.5 manual update link from here: Don't run the installer, but instead just Open the zip file in Windows Explorer.

Navigate inside the zip file to find the resources inside that correspond to the 64 or 32 bit Photoshop version that you're running. I assume you have installed the 64 bit version, so the rest of the instructions will concentrate on the 64 bit Camera Raw.8bi only. Here's the path:
setup.zip \ payloads \ AdobeCameraRaw8.0All-x64-050614143245 \ Assets1_1.zip
The file within Assets1_1.zip, named 1002, is actually the Camera Raw.8bi file for 64 bits, just with a different name.
Copy 1002 to your folder on your computer where your Camera Raw.8bi normally lives, e.g.,
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats
Rename the old Camera Raw.8bi file to Camera Raw.8bi_8.0. It's important that the extension is changed to something other than .8bi.
Rename 1002 to Camera Raw.8bi
Run Photoshop and verify the Camera Raw version by choosing Help - About Plug-in... - Camera Raw.

QQ about Camera Raw Cache and why mine is empty
Quick question about Camera Raw Cache:
Mine is empty. Always.
I've read that the Develop module stores information on photos it opens in the Camera Raw Cache, while the Library module stores its previews in the LRDATA directory adjacent to the Lightroom Catalog. I've also read that the former can be stored anywhere and is limited to a size specified in Preferences, while the latter must accompany the Catalog file and has no cap on its size.
So why is my Camera Raw Cache always empty? I go in and out of the Develop module, edit, switch among photos within Develop, view images at 1:1 and larger within Develop, etc. Shouldn't that cause cache entries to be generated in the Camera Raw Cache? I've tried moving my Camera Raw Cache from within Preferences, and I have the size of the cache set to 30 GB with plenty of room on the drive, but it's still always empty.Ah, yes. I shoot only JPGs. Funny how none of the documentation or tutorials mention that. The ones I've seen all imply that Lightroom uses Raw format internally when editing photos and that's why it needs a Camera Raw Cache for holding those internal files in the Develop module. I thought whenever I opened a photo in Develop, Lightroom was converting my JPGs interally to a proprietary Camera Raw format for editing them. Guess not, then.
So where does Lightroom hold all of its internal files for JPGs that I'm editing in the Develop module? Does it use the same files it generates in the Library module for 1:1 previews? (That's so different from what the tutorials say -- for example, around 11:00 on Julieanne Kost's tutorial on optimizing Lightroom, she never says she's only talking about working with Raw format.) -
Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge does not recognize the raw files from my new Canon Mark III 5D Camera. How can I get my files open to view and edit? I am using LR3, Photoshop CS3 and Bridge CS3. Do I need to upgrade these programs or is there another way to get these programs to recognize my files?
When I try opening the raw images in Lightroom, the thumbnails say "Preview unavailable for this file" ... when I click "import" an error message pops up that says "The files are from a camera which is not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom."
When I try opening the raw images in Photoshop, an error message pops up saying "could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
When I try opening the raw images in Bridge, it just shows an icon with the file name and CR2.
Please help!!!Unless I missed an announcement, today, LR6 isn't available, yet, right? Only Adobe employees and beta testers would know what LR6 does differently at this point and they're all sworn to secrecy.
LR5 is available as a standalone version.
PS-CS6 is available as a serial-number-licensed version.
PS-CC + LR5 are also available as a Photography Plan subscription for $10/month with a minimum OS versions of OSX 10.7 (and probably 10.8, soon) and Windows 7.
Bridge is part of PS, not a separate program.

I use Adobe creativ Cloud with Lightroom 5 and PS CC CS6. And I installed Topaz Adjust as a Plugin. On my Computer is Windows 8.1, 64 Bit installed,
I tryd to open a Photo *.CR2 in order to develop it with the Camera Raw Converter from PS CS6, but the converter does not start, it opens only PS CS6
Can any body help me with this Problem?

Using the Open button in ACR to get to PS doesn’t create a PSD or a TIF, it just transfers the image in memory.
As has been asked, already, what are the precise steps of your workflow starting with your painting the adjustment brush strokes in ACR and seeing the image in PS without the strokes, and what exact versions of PS and ACR are you using?

Bridge 5.0.2.4 with camera RAW 8.4.0.199 ON a MAC 10.10.1. Trying to update to camera RAW 8.7 to get my canon 7dMK2 raw files to work. But the updater say I have the latest update! Witch I clearly don't have . And my Photoshop have to different camera RAW plug-ins. The old 8.4 and the new 8.7. But it doesn't work. Have removed and reinstalled several times. What is going on? Why can't I update bridge to the latest version 8.7 or read my raw files from the Canon 7dmk2?

RAW images in Lightroom aren't opening in camera raw in Photoshop. Instead, I have to open the image in Finder before it will open in Camera Raw in Photoshop. How can I correct that?
Your question is a little unclear. In a "normal" Lightroom/Photoshop workflow the raw images do not open from Lightroom into Camera Raw. Lightroom has all of the Camera Raw functionality in the develop module. When you choose to open an image in Photoshop, and Lightroom and Photoshop are synchronized (i.e. referencing the same version of Camera Raw) then Camera Raw is simply used to interpret the Lightroom adjustments as the image is transferred to Photoshop. If Camera Raw is an older version then Lightroom offers you the choice to open the image or create a PSD or TIF file that includes all of the Lightroom adjustments. But in either case, opening in Camera Raw is not part of the workflow. It is possible to open the image as a smart object or convert the image to the smart object in Photoshop and then open it in Camera Raw. That is done from within Photoshop or is one of the open options in Lightroom. If you choose to go the smart object route the image first has to be opened in Photoshop and then from there you can open it in Camera Raw.

Because something is wrong. Most likely, either:
(1) your Mac OS X Startup disk is damaged and you need to repair or reinstall OS X,
- or -
(2) you are not following the correct update workflow and should use the help from this Apple article.
For instance, if you are trying to update via > Software Update..., restart Mac and download and install the Download Center version: Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.04. -
