Why Live Essentials 2012 keeps creating temp folder and Logs.cab?

Say every time I use Windows Photo Gallery 2012 (part of Live Essential 2012, it was called Live Photo Gallery before), it will create a temp sub-folder under system temp folder, something like
C:\Users\sh2sg\AppData\Local\Temp\09170103-00000e90-wusjy4myys\
C:\Users\sh2sg\AppData\Local\Temp\09170103-00000e90-abcdefgh123\
Every sub-folder contains a file called Logs.cab, when I quit Photo Gallery, Log.cab will be auto-deleted but not the folder, in the end there are hundreds of empty sub-folders left behind as I am a heavy Photo Gallery user.
I extracted one Log.cab, there are 11 log files something like:
2012-09-18_21-55_e08-mo5k9081.log
2012-09-19_21-24_e00-td1czj44.log
2012-09-26_22-52_aa0-hzfc3srl.log
contents all look same, here is one of them:

Looks like Photo Gallery (or other Live Essential 2012 components) tries to upgrade every time it runs? I don't mind it doing so althought it didn't alert me at all, but it shouldn't leave tonz of rubbish.
How can I disable this auto-update?
Thanks

Though I am using ONLY Windows Live Mail 2012 in Windows 7 SP1 64bit OS, I am getting the same problem as you.
So I wonder it is not "Photo Gallery" matter.
And why MODERATOR  can't search the cause why it happened to him ?
Logs.cab contains 11 files same as him.

  • When I try to download mozilla it says "can not create temp folder archive"

I click 'run' and after it is done loading a window pops up saying 'can not create temp folder archive' So basically it won't let me download mozilla. What do I do to fix this?

Interesting. I tried one more time - instead of saving it to my hard drive, I ran it directly off the Mozilla site and it installed....
Something is definitely wrong with the Mozilla "save as" and THEN run process....

  • Ao clicar em "Executar" aparece "Can not create temp folder archive".

  • SAP hana Visualize Plan show Create Temp Index and it shows Unsupported Operator Order.  Why the hana build temp index and how to get rid of it ?

When I see the Visualize Plan for SQLScript it show Create Temp Index at many Places.
It also shows unsupported operator order CS_JOIN over CS_AGGREGATION.
Why does hana create Temp Index and how to get rid of it.

Just browsing for some more information on this operation, and it just happened that my favorite VizPlan expert has chimed in here
I have a scenario where I am using a nested SQLScript based calc view. One view (child view) retrieves a relatively small data set, then the main CV takes that and joins with a bunch of other data from another schema.
When I started out, just the nested portion of (child calc view), takes roughly 800ms to return it's resultset, for which I was pleased. Now, when I added some other joins onto that dataset in the main CV, I am seeing my runtime spike to approximately 16 seconds, with 15 seconds being spent on a "Create Temp Index" process that only results in 12 rows (from what I can see).
Now the question becomes - since I have identified where 95+% of my runtime is being generated, how can I really pinpoint what operation is causing this? I was thinking the ID column (shown in the details) may offer some clues if one knew how to locate the details in a system table somewhere?
Otherwise, all I can see in the VizPlan is that YES there is a long running component, but I have no idea what it might be, therefore can't do anything about it
    Regards,
    Justin

my macbook wont allow me to use the same hotmail address as i used on my other computers. How can I keep the same email and log into it on a macbook?

That indicates a hardware failure. Read here:

If nothing works, you most likely have a hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple store to confirm.

  • Why is PowerPoint so slow, and why does it keep creating "temp" files ?

This is a recent problem which does not seem to be manifesting in other software (not Word, not Excel for example): my ppt is SLOW SLOW SLOW ! I am working in a very very simple presentation -- text only, black & white, no graphics, less than 15 pages -- and it takes at least 30 seconds to save, ages to open, ages to quit. I'm tired of watching that beach ball rotate !
Just noticed that for some reason it is also creating "temp" files -- "Powerpoint Temp, Powerpoint Temp 1", etc etc.
I run Software update automatically each week so should be up to date on all MS and Apple software. My 80G hard disk has 14G of free space, and I just ran "Terminal" earlier this week.

  • 7-zip can not create temp folder arcive

after downloading and running the download the dialog box woz
7-zip the message woz can not create the temporary folder archive.

After much messing around and frustration, I finally solved the problem by (1) uninstalling 7-Zip; (2) rebooting the computer; (3) reinstalling 7-Zip; (4) creating a 'temp' folder in the 7-Zip program; and (4) running the installation of Firefox directly from the download page instead of downloading it first onto my computer and running setup from the downloaded file. Worked like a charm.
FWIW: strangely enough, uninstalling 7-Zip and rebooting the computer did not get rid of the '7-Zip' error message when trying to install Firefox. I know next to nothing about how computers' innards work, but it struck me as bazaar that uninstalling 7-Zip and rebooting the computer didn't at least get rid of the 7-Zip error message.
Thanks to all for the suggestions

  • Why does my outlook keep creating modgroups when syncing with ipad?

Why does my outlook 2007 keep creating modgroups when syncing with my ipad 2. If also takes very long for the two to sync.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Firefox keeps creating the folder "Downloads"

    Using 3.6.10
Firefox keeps creating the "Downloads" folder in my documents even though the folder I specified for the downloads is different..
    C:\MyDocs\Downloads\ < keeps getting created
C:\Downloads\ < is where I told FF to put downloads
It's driving me nuts! lol. Even tried installing a download manager to see if it did anything and it didn't fix the issue... :(

Try resetting all of the preferences relating to the download directory.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # In the filter box type '''browser.download''' to bring up a small number of preferences
    # For any preference that has a value set to a folder, right-click on it and choose '''Reset'''
    # Now set the download folder in the Options dialog again
If it still creates the folder, try clearing the list of downloaded files in the download manager. In the Tools menu select Downloads, then click on the Clear List button.

  • Garageband Keeps Creating a folder in my MUSIC folder

Everytime i open Garageband, and Logic Pro. It creates a folder in my MUSIC folder entitled Garageband.
I Save all my projects, bounces, samples, sounds, etc in a Projects folder on my desktop and I do not see the need for this folder. Is their a way to direct it elsewhere, or stopit fromhappening all together?
    Thanks

I'm pretty sure that folder is going to be made no matter what but you can direct garageband to save your file to any location you want. Select save as and the window promts the user as to where to save the file. Just select the location you want.

  • Folder Redirection - Create temp folder if folder not available

    Hello,
I don't know if this is even possible, but I'm asking it anyway.
I'm setting up a group policy for folder redirection for our users in our department. However, due to the Patient Healthcare Information (PHI) and HIPAA law, I don't want to make these folders available offline. If the laptop is in the network, they can
work on it without any problems, and all the files and folders are available to them no matter which workstation they log in to. But, as soon as I remove the workstation from the network all hell breaks loose. I'm only redirecting Desktop and Documents. Is
there a way to create the folder redirection without offline availability and yet have the workstation create it's own desktop if the folder is not available?
    Thanks

    > No folders are available
    > outside the network and offline in the take home laptops.
Short solution: Then do not redirect them.
On the other hand: Seems your legal department lacks some knowledge
about user data location in windows. Especially "local copies of roaming
    user profiles"...
