hi sap experts.
in our compony, at the last of month when we run transaction ckmlcp and material ledger document create at the same time another document is created that have the same type of material ledger document , just reversed acounts , why this happen?
can any body help me plz?

Much appreciate you help and points are assigned!
To Rahul Tyagi:
What is ‘prd’ referring to?
Is there any possibility that we reverse everything – both MIRO and MIGO documents in the PO while ensure the final LC amount in PO is reversed to zero?
The user changed the following things in PO
changed ‘Net Price” from 1 to 100 AUD
changed Scheduled Quantity for 3 times with different amount respectively
changed PO quantity for 3 times with different amount respectively

  • PPV - Material ledger problem

    Hi,
A few months ago one material was purchased with an unnatural price 1000 bigger than standard price (price on purchase order should be 100$ but it was 100.000$). The invoice was of course correct - 105$ and goods receipt at standard 100$.
PPV should be 5$ and the price on purchase order shouldn't normally influence PPV. Unfortunately this was not a normal case - as the invoice was posted before Goods receipt. Invoice was posted in February and Goods receipt in March. What is more - this material didn't have any stock in February - so in Material Ledger there was a stock shortage when invoice was posted. In march the balance on PPV account (PRD) was ok.=5$ for this material, but Material ledger still shows 98.005$ and moving average price of this material is huge.
I believe that stock shortage in February is the reason why Material ledger shows variances of 98.005$ instead of 5$. Do you know if stock shortage might have caused this big variance? How can I get rid of it now? I cannot reverse purchase, invoice and GR as february and march are closed for MM.
I thought of using MR22 and posting -98.000$. This will lower the variances on this material (PRD) but also post value to Gain/loss on revaluation account (UMB). This should repair the situation in Material ledger, but spoil everything on FI accounts. In order to fix it in FI I thought of manually reversing this postings (done in MR22) on the same accounts (PRD and UMB) but in FB50 without reference to material. This will result in balance of 5$ on PRD and 0 on UMB and material ledger will show only 5$ variance for this material.
Is this approach correct. Maybe you have some other suggestions?
    Hope you can help me,
    Kind regards,
    Karol

  • How to reverse material ledger closing entries beyond  previous period?

In a test system, the system does not permit reverse material ledger closing entries. The current period is 04/2008.
    Getting a message C+716 message
You want to cancel closing entries in valuation area XXXX for period 008 in fiscal year 2007.
You are allowed to cancel closing entries only in the previous period. Reversing closing entries for periods before the previous period is not possible.
There are provision to run closing entries like  MUST_SETTLE in the ok code features, Are there, any such for reversal? Could there be any work-around?

    Hi David
If you dont need to perform the close itself but would just like to get the periods in the correct status you can use the process outlined in note 645083.
In the material ledger, it may be necessary for different reasons to manually set the period status of materials in former periods to 70 ("Closing Entry Completed") without actually carrying out the closing entry.
It provides program Z_ML_SET_PP_STATUS_70 that will allow a manual update to the prior period status.
There is a pre-requisite regarding revaluation amounts, but this is all described in the notes.

  • Reverse Material Ledger Process Order Revaluation

    Hello,
I have settled process orders for Material Ledger and revalued them.  More postings have been made after this has occurred.  How do I reverse this process?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Hi
Go to the following path in SPRO:
Controlling -> Product Cost Controlling -> Actual Costing/Material Ledger -> Actual Costing -> Activate Actual  Costing. Double-click on "Actiavte Actual Costing" and change the indicator from "2" to "1".

  • Material ledger production start up

    Dear expert,
we are working on a project that has two main objectives:
    1) now the customer is using the mtv 103/105 and we want to move to the 101
    2) now the customer is using a custom 'medium price calculation' and we have to activate the material ledger.
I red the note 596558 and I have some question; first at all I would like to find some documentation about this activity and the effects of  a Material ledger production startup, could someone tell me we can I find info ?
    The question are
    At point f) is wrote
u201CYou should always transfer purchase orders and purchase order histories before activating the material ledger. This ensures that the system translates the purchase order history in all additional currencies.u201D
What does it means? Why it is necessary translate? How?
If a company has only the local currency is it necessary the translation?
    At point j) is wrote
u201CWe recommend that you close open orders before activating the material ledger and recreate them after the activation if required.u201D
    WHY?
The posting logic for postings that reference a purchase order is changed in the parallel currencies due to the activation of the material ledger. As a result, there may be unexpected price postings and exchange rate difference postings for purchase orders that are not closed in business transactions (goods movements and invoices) that are posted later.
Which unexpected postings? Refers to new u2018Transactionu2019 (e.g. BSX, WRX, PRD, KDM, u2026) used after the material ledger start up?
Now the customer is using a custom u2018medium price calculationu2019; we think to reverse all movements in the year (103, 105, invoices) for order item not closed and recreate the goods movement with  the new model (101, invoices) after the ML activation.
    Thanks in advance.

In our case CKMSTART was definately done before Inventory load. This Tcode was part of config prior to Master data creation and migrated data loads....

  • Reg: Material Ledger Account posting

    Hello Everyone,
We have Material Ledger active for a plant with transaction based price determination (Price Control V). I have posted a GR & its creating 2 Accounting docs. One with Transaction keys BSX, WRX & PRD.
WRX is calculating correctly based on the PO price. But, I am not sure how BSX is calculated as its not picking the Periodic Price unit in the current period.
Could you please guide how account posing (GR & IR) will happen for a material with Price control V & Material Ledger active.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Uswin

    Hi Uswin,
if you look at the second FI document generated upon the GR, I'm pretty sure you will find that in this document, the price difference from the first document ist "reversed" and the amount added to inventory value, correct? So the end result is the same as it would be without material ledger (GR valued at PO price), it just happens in two steps. Therefore, what Frederick said is not 100% correct, as only the end result is the same with and without ML for V/2 materials, but not each single document.
Secondly, as to why the PRD arises on GR.
In my system I found the same case. A GR with a PRD posting for a material with price control V and price determination 2.
In my case I found the PRD to be in fact a rounding difference, which arose in the following way:
Price in PO was 57,78 u20AC/10 pieces. The price unit in material master, however, is 1 unit.
Now what the system seems to have done is:
    (1) round the price in PO to the price unit from material master: result: 5,78 u20AC/piece
    (2) Post 5,78 u20AC * pieces received to stock value, the difference (5,778 - 5,78)*pieces received to PRD account
    (3) POst a second document reversing the PRD and addig it to stock value
Perhaps, the reason for a "price difference" arising is similar in your case

  • Material ledger is not active in valuation area C002

    Dear All,
I have a Scheduling Agreement for a material 'A' with Vendor 'V' with diff prices with validity dates, I did the GR & when i am posting the invoice thro' miro, system is throwing error as above Material ledger is not active in valuation area C002 Why should I activate the material ledger here ? Pls suggest how can i solve this ?
    regds,
    Kallu

    Hi
For a Particular material, Material Ledger is active or not? Can be checked in Accountig view of Material Master.
    Why we need Material Ledger?
A fundamental task of the material ledger is carrying inventories in multiple currencies and/or
    valuations.
Material inventory values are normally carried by the SAP system in one currency. The material
ledger component enables the R/3 System to carry inventory values in two additional
currencies/valuations. Therefore, all goods movements in the material ledger are performed in up
to 3 currencies or valuations. Currency amounts are translated into foreign currencies at
historical exchange rates directly at the time of posting. Businesses such as those in highinflation
countries can therefore carry their inventories in a more stable currency (such as US
dollars). This reveals inflationary effects on inventory values.
If you use transfer prices to represent value flows in your company in different
valuation views, you must use the material ledger. This allows you to carry your
inventories in three different valuations (legal valuation, valuation for reporting
    purposes, and profit center valuation).
Before activating the material ledger, make sure you know which currencies and valuations
you want to use, because you cannot go back and change the setting.
Activating the material ledger is a prerequisite for using multiple valuations.
    Thanks
    Raman

  • Material Ledger Unit Of Measurement different from Material Master

    Dear Team,
In my client, there is a difference between unit visible in CKM3N and MM03. The base unit of measurement in MM03 is MT. Other than that, there are some other units maintained (not M3) in additional data tab in material master. In CKM3N, the visible unit is M3. M3 is not present anywhere in MM03.
Why would such unit flow in material ledger table? (CKMLPP has unit M3). Please advise.
One more observation is that when there is some price change document in Material Ledger, the proper UoM (MT) is being captured. Only in the basic price determination structure visible unit for each head is M3. Please check the attached screen shot.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Issue with Standard Cost estimates / Material Ledger

    Background:
We have been using SAP for the last 5 years with Material Ledger active. Due to a number of reasons, we have not revised its standard cost estimates from 2001 till now. This means that at month end, we do not mark and release prices as recommended, nor do we mark prices and use dynamic release.
    What Happened:
A new material called PFSW3 was made. This is a FERT. Before production
could start my team released the standard cost estimate for this material. Production was now able to proceed without problem. Then, when the time came to sell the material (VF02), SAP again raised the error 'cost estimate not found'. On checking the standard price in MM03, we discovered that the future cost estimate was missing. So we created and marked a new cost estimate in the middle of February 2007.
    Problem:
When the first sale took place, SAP released the marked cost estimate and posted a Price Change document to adjust for the new standard cost. I understand this was due to dynamic release. Now, when month end came, the system settled all the production orders of material PFSW3 but did not do multi level costing on it.
    Internal Investigation:
My team has determined that the material PFSW3 has price determination 2 set by mistake. All our other production materials (HALB and FERT) are
set to price determination 3 in the material master (accounting view).
    Questions:
    To sum this situation up,
we need to know why the material PFSW3 was not marked closed in its period status (CKM3) at the time of closing through CKMLCP?
What are the implications of not closing this material in Feb 2007 (current period status is showing 'Quantities and values entered')?
How can we close this material this month?
The future cost estimate is again missing for PFSW3 in March 2007 and I
fear we are going to face more problems as this material is sold to customers.
Please respond this is an urgent issue.

    Dear Shumyl,
Please, have a look at Note 645083 - Material period status set to "Closing Entry Completed" that might help to closing your material in previous period.
    Hope it will be useful.

    Flaviano.

  • Parallel currency in company code require material ledger activation

    Hello,
I have a requirement where the company is using parallel currency in NEWGL concept with two different currencies INR and USD.
I want to have a clarification whether I Need to activate Material ledger with parallel currency.
    1. Company is using parallel currency with only one legal valuation view.
    2. There is no requirement for product costing in the company.
Can the balance in general ledger can be seen in both currency for inventory balances.
    Awaiting for your inputs
    Thanks

If you don't need parallel currency at present, there's no need to configure it. Why should that be a problem, as long as your Business needs are not relevant to using a parallel currency?
I suspect your actual query is details regarding the future problems that you might face when, faced by changed Business scenarios, you are forced to introduce parallel currency at a future date
If my suspicion is correct, I suggest you look at SAP Note 39919. It's an old note - but one that I've found contains quite relevant tips and tricks about introducing parallel currency in a productive environment.
Remember to assign points if found useful.

  • MR11- The price for material && will be negative - Material Ledger Active

    Hi All,
The material ledger is active and user is getting error message "The price for material && will be negative" while doing MR11. I found the below SAP Notes:
sapnote_0000010757_FAQ MR11, clear GRIR clearing account
    sapnote_0000174684_Procedure for error C+121C+131, price
sapnote_0000320941_Posting in spite of negative price
    sapnote_0000790426_MR11 Functionality
I found SAP Note: 174684_Procedure for error C+121C+131, price , but it seems to give a temporary solution of changing the price using MR21 / MR22. The error has become very frequent.
I appreciate, if someone can help me know the pros and cons of using MR21/MR22 transaction when material ledger is active, because I am not able to figure out where will the MR21 / MR22 transaction have impacts in MM and CO?
Is there anyway to do away with the recurrence of Error message permanently?
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Sagar K.

    Hi:
This error occurs when PO price does not match with Moving average price in Material price.
First check the price in PO and in Moving average price in Material Master. If the Moving average price is less than PO, go the T.code MR21 to change the moving average price to PO Price.
Also check T.code MRBR - it will show why the invoice is blocked.
Please let me know if you need more information.
    Assign points if useful.

  • Material Ledger for Stock Transfer Postings

    Hi All,
I have a question about the way material ledger is calculated for stock transfer postings (movement type 641). I will give an example to illustrate this issue:
Material A has a Standard cost of $10
Material B has a Standard cost of $8
During the month 100 units were transferred from material A to Material B. This created a financial posting as follows:
    Credit Material A -          $1000
    Debit Material B -           $800
    Debit Price Difference    $200
This price difference of $200 was used in the calculation of Actual cost for material B
However, the Actual Cost for Material A was $9. I would have expected the system to use this actual cost to calculate the difference to be posted to material B. Hence the difference used in Material B should have been $100 {(9 – 8) X 100} and not $200.
Has anyone had a similar issue, or know how the system resolves this (if at all)?
Points will be rewarded for relevance.
    Thanks

Dave, I see that your process is slightly different to mine. We do not revalue inventory at month end, instead the material ledger program posts the revalued amount to a reserve account and the actual cost is only a statistical entry. The material ledger calculation is reversed automatically in the new month and the standard price is used for valuation.
I think this might make it difficult for the system to value STO's at actual. I may need to check with SAP.
    Thanks

  • Material Ledger Closing

    Dear Gurus,
While material ledger closing using CMKLCP,i need clarification for the following process.
    1. Single/level
    2. Multilevel.
    3. Revaluation of Consumption
    4. WIP Calculation
    5.Post closing
    6. Price update.
can anyone explain about the above process outcome, what is the difference between material ledger WIP Calculation and Production  order WIP Calculation.
While price update for price control material S, we need to re run cost estimate or it will update the new prices.
    Appriciated for valuable inputs.
    Ramesh.

    Hi Ramesh .
Hope you understand clearly the purpose of standard costing and why we use Material Ledger .
Standard Costing is based on a pre-determined /derived prices for a period/year and all costs are caputed on the basis of the standard Cost . Goods Issues/Receipt , consumption all are at standard cost.
COGS GL Account is at standard and all the inventories are at standard ..
Difference between standard and actual costs are captured as variances in different GL Account . Mainly we have two variances... price variances ( at the time of purchases ) and usage variances at the time of production ..
Material Ledger is a seperate module.. where it calculates the actual costs . Variances are rolled back to the consumption accounts ( which is at standard )  to derive the actual cost . Actual Cost = Standard Cost + Variances .
    1. Now  Finished Material is made of Raw Material and  Semi-Finished Goods . ...When we calculate the actual costs of finished product .. we can find out the actual costs of raw materials and semi-finished goods. ML will find out the actual cost of raw material , semi-finished goods and finished goods. This concept is know as multi-level determination ... In Single level.. only one level of material cost is computed as actual.. not rolled back to the lowest level.
    2. Revaluation of consumption during ML run means .. the COGS ( which was at standard earlier) is now being revaluted and becomes actual..
    3. WIP Calculation calculates the WIP costs on actual.
    4. Post Closing Step will put the new GL entries.. where variances will be nullified and COGS and inventory will become actual.
    5. Price Update is optional.. you can make the actual costs computed as standard cost for the next month..
Production Order WIp Calculation = Actual Qty X Standard Rate
ML WIP Calculation =  Actual Qty x Actual Rate
Please revert back for any further clarifications

  • Material ledger and cost estmate

    Hi all
Can any body tell me the impact on material ledger of deleting the current standard cost estimate from material master? The requirement has come for change the current standard cost from material master whom we have released on 01.01.2008 and now today at 07.01.2008 we want to change this. All the transactions for material in current period I have got the reverse. Now I will delete the cost estimate from T_code CKR1 and than the new standard cost will releases from today in same period. At month end we are going to run the actual costing. Would be any problem in actual costing?
    Thanks and Reagrds
    Vinay Thakre

thanks Pascal for prompt response, would you please advise my below understanding to ML and actual cost
1)CKMLCP - Edit Costing Run to create costing run to calculated periodic unit price
2)Because there are some activities in CKMLCP,we have to respectively execute CKMF / CKMG/CKMJ /  CKMH / CKMI for each activity of costing run
3)after costing run with  CIMLCP,SAP will use calculated periodic unit price to revaluate inventory for previous period, and the price indicator S automatically  changed to V for previous as well.
4)SAP will generate FI cocument to adj inventory and consumption cost after "post closing"
5)there is different periodic unit price for each closed period
5)the price indicator for closed period is always V,the price indicator in current period is S

  • Standard cost estimation after goods movement when material ledger is activ

    Hi!
our client is activated material ledger, for some materials standard cost estimation is done till marking but not released.
goods movements have been posted for those materials.
Now system is not allowing to release the standar price for those material in the current period, as material ledger expects same price for entrie period.
what is the alternative way to update the standard price for those materials ( with out reversing the goods movements).
    regs,
    ramesh

    Hi Ramesh,
When you are using Material Ledger, after goods movemnets for materials, no need to change the standard cost estimate as Actual costing run will take care to derive the PUP price.
If there is no standard cost estimation release for sold materials (e.g.FG), you will get an error message duirng the billing document release to accounting. To aviod this error, if you are using split valuation (valuation types) and mixing ratios (CK91N & CK94), try with the below steps:
Create a new valuation type for the same material
    Crate CK11N & CK94,
    Run CK11N
    Run CK24.
    Then release the billing document.
Let me know if you need more details.
    Thanks & Regards,
    ADI
