It is possible that your printer or your iPad is on the fringe of your wifi router's range. You should be able to check the signal strength on the printer.

  • IPad Keeps Losing Wifi Connection??

    Hi,
About 2 days ago, my iPad 2 began losing wifi connection. I would have to tap "Forget this network" and then wait a bit and then tap on the network again and type in the password. After that, the iPad would gain wifi again until about 5-20 minutes later, it loses wifi connection AGAIN. Sometimes when I did that it still didn't even work! And it also bothers me because it still has the wifi sign in the top left corner of my ipad screen, even if the wifi connection is not working. This has happened continuously throughout the past 2 days. Sometimes, the wifi would work for a good amount of time before it was gone again, and sometimes it loses connection after like 3 minutes. But all the other electronics in my house are perfectly fine, it's just my iPad 2 that's been doing this.
I tried to tap "forget all network settings" and then restart my ipad, but that didn't help. I'm not sure if it's the iPad's problem (since all the other electronics work) or if it's the wifi.
Please help! This is very annoying.
(And i have a new update which is 7.1.2, but that's been there for a pretty long time bc I always forget to update it. But I don't think that's the problem.)

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Why do I keep losing connection to my MIFI4510L

Why do I keep losing connection to my MIFI4510L. After a period of time this device disconnects from the internet. What do I have to do to correct this?

This seems to be a problem in various areas. I'm in Michigan north of Detroit, when they switched from 3G to 4G, reliability and speed dropped significantly. My first service calls were frustrating as the service tech told me I had unused WIFI setups on my PC and I needed to delete them. told him the device works everywhere else, but he was instant I delete the unused, imagine that fixed nothing. I was sent a replacement device (refurbished without a battery or back) which was worthless as it was different form what I have and could not be used, so I sent it back I have emailed the Customer Service VP for the region and after months of not getting the issue resolved I was told 4G service was in the process of being updated in my area and not to expect it to improve until sometime in 2013. Since the device detects 3G and 4G, it switches to 4G and connection often drops to 1 mbps and cannot even get a Google page. Under 3G, it was pretty consistent at 68 to 72 mbps. My options are to replace my 3G/4G device with a 3G only or change to a different service provider. I have a cottage basically on the fringe area and 3G connects at 68-72 99% of the time and outside of Boston, Washington north of Seattle (almost Canada), Texas, Chicago, etc, 4G works great, so it is not the device. Guess I'm not sure the push to 4G if they are not ready. Guess once the sale is complete they have you and if service is bad, oh well. The sad part, my current cell phone contacts are ending and I was seriously planning on leaving ATT to switch everything to Verizon based on service prior to the switch to 4G, but that does not make any sense now. My Apple 4G can be a hot spot and works great when I' m at home, but why pay for 2 different services. The other interesting note, I left Comcast due to poor service (internet was slow from 6am to 10pm or dropped completely) and now Verizon has teamed up with them... sure hope they are not the cause of poor internet service... like maybe Verizon is using them for internet service... I was told no... but problems started around the same time of the announcement. So based on responses from Verizon, I will check my other options. The commercials are great but reality is delivery, no so great.

  • Why do I keep losing my "notes"?

Why do I keep losing my "notes"?

I have been losing notes off and on for almost 2 years now. Contract is almost up--will probably switch over to a Galaxy next time.
Notes are extremely important to me. I have NO idea why they disappear. Here is what I learned.
Originally the notes were backed up to my Yahoo account as many of you found out. When you lose one, you will find it in your Notes folder in your Yahoo email account. Similar backup with Gmail.
I started using iCloud for notes a month ago. The huge advantage is that you can compose or paste in large amounts of text from your desktop device, and they are pushed immediately to the iPhone. Editing is a breeze now.
But wait—what happens if you lose a note?  I lost my main shopping list this morning while at Home Depot. iCloud is immediately updated, and the note is erased! No backup. So I have resorted to drafting emails of each note which are then saved in iCloud email Draft folder. Works for now, but a horrible workaround for what should be a robust app. Shame on you Apple.

  • Why do I keep losing signatures in Apple Mail after I select a signature in Preferences?

Why do I keep losing signatures in Apple Mail after I select a signature in Preferences?

When you connect your Mac back up to the Exchange server, it will “sync” what is on the server to your Mac, losing all those older emails. Don’t reconnect until you have moved them.
To move them, Drag them from the Exchange folders on Mail and into an iCloud folder. The emails will then be stored on iCloud instead of on the exchange server.
You could also just create mailboxes on your Mac and drag them into that. They wouldn’t be accessible to other devices, but you’d have them on your Mac.
To create new Mailboxes, Click the Add ( + ) button at the bottom of the Mailbox list and choose New Mailbox…
You can choose where that folder is stored, either under On My Mac for a local mailbox, or in your iCloud account which will make a folder on the iCloud server.
In the future, you need to start moving your emails to those independent mailboxes as you file them, and set up a rule that will move anything older than 50 days into a “catch-all” Mailbox you create on that same location (either On My Mac or iCloud). Mail Preferences, Rules.

Why do I keep losing audio/recorded tracks and SFX in my projects? I have tried: Saving as archive file/searching package contents etc. to no avail. Can anyone help? It keeps telling me 'Audio file not found', and seems to be different tracks in the same project each time too.

I also have this problem using Garageband in a school network situation when students open their project on one station, save it to their network drive, and later open it at a different station.  90% of the time there will be no issue, but sometimes audio files are lost. (Garageband '11, iMacs)
That sounds like it might be a failure of the students to perform a Save As and check Archive Project when they do. This asks GB to pull all the files it needs into the associated .band document rather than point to them externally (and then risk not having them be there).

  • Why does ipad keep asking for icloud every second?

why does ipad keep asking for icloud every second?

    Hey there mcsafranek,
It sounds like you are getting prompted for your iCloud password very frequently. I would sign out of your iCloud account in Settings first:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
From: iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
              http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
Then close all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
When you have done that and restart the phone, sign back into iCloud, and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue persists could you relay what exactly the message says when it pops up?
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Why do I keep losing Data in my Health App DashBoard?

Why do I keep losing Data in my Health App DashBoard? I have restored and got it back and it keeps losing data 4 days in a row.

    Hi saer1964,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're not hearing sound when using Bluetooth connected to your car stereo. It can be difficult to say why this might happen, and there are some good troubleshooting steps that we can use to isolate or resolve the cause of this behavior.
I would start with the troubleshooting steps mentioned at these links:
iOS: Troubleshooting Bluetooth connections - Apple Support
If you can’t use a Bluetooth accessory or car kit - Apple Support
These steps can help resolve many common issues with Bluetooth connections.
    Best Regards,
