Why might I pay $1,300 for my new 3G s?

I pre ordered my 16gb 6-10 via apples site. I do not qualify for any of the good prices so I had to pay full retail for my 16gb which was $599. After shipping and taxes it came to right around $650. I was charged twice for the same phone. My bank statement currently reads that I have been charged $650 once and the same amount is also pending. I figured it was just a mistake and they would remove the pending charge but its been that way for 4 days.. Does anyone know a number or email to contact apple regarding this issue?
Thanks

sorry but thats how merchant accounts work and depends on back like my old bank was 10 days the bank I bank with now the hold is 5 days... So call your bank for their policy.....
No what really ***** is if you go to Gas Station and use Debit at the Pump and they authorize your card for $400 thats rediculous since I've never seen a vehicle hold $400 worth of gas not even big heavy duty trucks with 2 tanks...

    That's a point fo confusion.
If your MacBook has a Core 2 Duo processor (64-bit) and not the earlier Core Duo processor (32-bit), you can run 64-bit versions of Apple's applications. Whether the speed improvements are mostly because of this "64-bit'ness" or mostly because Apple re-coded the bundled apps (such as the all-important Finder) to be more efficient, I'm not so sure. Apple did optimize their code to reduce bloat, and it is supposedly a lot more than just removing the PowerPC code. This article has a good high level explanation.
    http://www.macworld.com/article/142379/2009/08/snowleopard_64bit.html
The other layer for 32 versus 64-bit discussion is in the core of the OS itself, the kernel. Apple seems to be playing it safe initially, and all Macs (except for Xserve servers) are running the 32-bit kernel by default. This may be to ensure third-party software compatibility during the transition to 64-bit. The more recent Macs are capable of switching to the 64-bit kernel on startup. Older Core 2 Duo Macs (that can run 64-bit apps) cannot use the 64-bit kernel. This web page (with related utility) has a good consolidate explanation, although I cannot confirm everything is 100% accurate.

So there are really two levels. 64-bit applications and the 64-bit kernel. 64-bit apps can run with the 32-bit kernel just fine, as long as your iMac has Core 2 Duo processors. I'm just going to keep things +as is+, and not worry about it. Snow Leopard is running great, and that's good enough for me no matter what part is 64-bit and what part is not.

I just got an 8GB iPod touch, I'm concerned that I will not have enough gigabytes for future music purchases, Is it possible to upgrade to a 32GB without having to pay $300 for a new iPod?

Well, obviously you can't walk into the apple store and get them to upgrade your iPod for you for FREE when the 32GB costs at least a 100$ more.
Just stick with the 8GB, don't download rubbish apps.

Apparently not (in the U.S.).  See the photo - it only shows T-Mobile as accepting contract-free (from the Apple Store).

I am really wondering why there is no safari update for 2013 and 2014!?

Why?  Because worms are flying and we all smell of elderberries.
Seriously... Nobody here knows why.  We don't work for Apple therefore we would have no clue as to the official reason why Apple stopped developing / supporting it.

  • If I take my Iphone 5c to the apple store to be fixed with the service charge of $269, if they can't fix it do they replace the phone? Or will I have to pay retail price for a new phone?

I have a water damaged iphone 5c. I was thinking about taking it to the Apple store and paying the 269 dollar service charge for them to attempt to fix it. My question is: If they can't fix it, will they replace my phone for that $269 dollars, or will I have to pay full retail price for a new phone?

They do not repair at all.
    The replace.
The $269 is for a replacement.

  • Why are we paying over $300 a month for a family plan that doesn't include call blocking or decent voicemail services?

I am a member of a shared family plan which as I see it posted our bill is over $300 a month, which does not include unlimited data, family protection (which allows you to permanently block numbers vs there 30 or 90 day limit if you are not covered) <---- this requires you to constantly be on alert of something so ridiculous that it shouldn't be concerned with, and finally they do not offer an upgraded voicemail service.  So my voicemail asks me to enter pin than right to messages.  It does not tell me the following:  The date the call was made, the time the call was made, nor any other pertinent information regarding the call aside from the number and than the message.  It's frustrating because I miss a lot of calls these days due to volume controls and silent modes and ring tones that aren't loud enough that I need to know when calls are received.  I don't ever remember having to pay for an upgraded voicemail service, that's like hiring a firm to handle all my incoming calls.  I want my answering machine back.  I have many other issues to include Verizon's online chat service which has at least one major issue.  I won't bring that up here.  The question is how much more money can they get for a simple cell phone plan?  For christ's sake.

The free voicemail is basic which gives you the date and time of the message. If you want more you should pay for more. Also, some Android phones with KitKat have free Visual Voicemail.
Thank you for your feedback, but my phone gives me no choice and it most certainly does not state the date and time that the message was received.  The only way for me to know that is if I happen to check exactly the phone log around the same time that the message was left, else it is buried underneath other more recent and answered calls.  And seriously man, the whole pay more idea is getting a bit far-fetched.  There is no reason why I should be able to buy a portable mini answering machine for a one time payment of $14.99 with a reusable blank tape, they don't have these and we'd look ridiculous carrying them around with everything else, but the point is we are giving permission to charge for some ridiculous things that should not be paid more for.  My old answering machine worked just fine, and more importantly I have never paid for an "upgraded" voicemail service.  As I mentioned if I want that I can hire a service to do that, but I don't need that.  I hope you can understand my growing concerns.  We pay for every little in-app purchase, we are being programmed to pay for everything that should already be includedfdasf in an initial price, brought home and enjoyed for its duration.  Instead wesdfsdf are paying monthly fees and dues on objects that aren't covered by warranties or insurances which eventually break and leave people struggling to pick up the pieces.  These are serious issues because people now rely so much on their phones (of course this is all my opinion) that we've become depandent on them.  Anyway, thanks, appreciate all the feedback.
As for blocking this is what it states on my plan under the blocking feature tab:
You can block calls and message from up to 5 phone numbers at no charge.
Expiration. Blocks expire after 90 days. Be sure to reapply the block if you wish to continue the service restriction. To permanently block numbers, subscribe to FamilyBase*.
    Limitations.
You cannot block numbers within your account or non-10 digit numbers such as 911,411 or #MIN (checks minutes used).
Apple® iMessage® won't be blocked. Messages from this service can be blocked by disabling the iMessage feature from within the Settings>Messages menu of your Apple device.
Unblocking. To unblock a number, highlight and delete the number, then click "Submit".
So there's the limits, but even worst is they don't include a simple field where I can put the name of the individual I am blocking.  So when it comes time to maybe rotate one out (this should be an unlimited number), one of the many 5 I can choose to block, I might not remember who is who or what is what.  I have a lot of responsibilities in my life, this is not one that should be pushed on the consumer.  It's ridiculous.

  • I was wondering how the advertised 10G multiple line plan that is running now is different from my current plan. Basically, why am I paying more now for 4G of data when Verizon is saying I can get 10 for the same price basically.

    NM

Most of the advertisements running now are for Edge. You get discounts for having a smart phone on Edge based on the data package you have. What sucks is that most of the time they advertise a certain price for the monthly service and that is true but what they don't say is you add the Edge payments to that and most of the time it is around the same price as without Edge.
If you think about this though, say you get a phone that is $24.99/month with Edge and you share 10GB which gives you a $25 discount, the phone is basically free and nothing is due at checkout. If you get a 2 year contract with that phone you pay the 2 year price of the phone and pay the same amount monthly.

  • HT5637 what is a "match" and why would I pay $24.99 for one?

how do i get credit for this?  I don't even know what it is? thanks

iTunes match allows you to store music copied from your CDs and not purchased from iTunes in the cloud, which allows you to then access it on computer's iTunes and/or your iOS devices - from http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/ :
With iTunes in the Cloud, the music you buy from the iTunes Store automatically appears on all your devices.1 And for music you haven’t purchased from iTunes, iTunes Match is the perfect solution. iTunes Match is built right into iTunes on your computer and the Music app on your iOS devices.2 It lets you store your entire collection in iCloud, even music you’ve imported from CDs or purchased somewhere other than iTunes. When it’s in iCloud, it’s available on all your devices. So you can enjoy all your music anywhere, anytime — on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, or Apple TV.
Not sure what you mean by get credit for it.

  • Why is Import Video greyed out for a new Flash project?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to load any MP4 (H.264 encoding), FLV, or F4V files into a brand new project. I've tried importing FLV and F4V files via the Import to Library and Import to Stage menu choices but all result in "One or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them" error message. I just downloaded Flash CC today (Feb 23, 2014) and cannot even get started on my project since I cannot seem to load a video into the library or stage. I've looked at the tutorials, but they assume that I can choose the greyed out Import Video... menu choice. Searching the discussion didn't help me as most of the discussions are off-topic or from 2 or more years back.
    Thanks,
    Xtraspatial

Thank you sinious. I had QT 7.5.5 installed. The problem was unrelated. Like a bufoon, I created a new HTML5 canvas, which is unable to import videos. When I switched to a AS3 canvas all was as it should be. And there was rejoicing throughout the land! Case closed.

  • Water Damage, pay $400 for a new one, or can I send it to be fixed.

    Hey all,
It's dried out, it happened about a week ago. The home button doesn't work, other than that it seems ok.
Is there any options for repairing it or should I just pay the 400 for a new one?
I'm not looking for directions on how to repair it, just if someone knows of a reliable place to ship it?
    Thanks

Here is a internet post that some believe is an excellent way to dry out a phone. I haven't tested nor vouch for it so it's up to you; but be sure you take the battery and SIM card out of the phone first.
    Alternate Alcohol Soak Method
Dry your phone by soaking it in alcohol or flush out contaminants with distilled water. This method is controversial and considered risky by some, but the proponents believe in it strongly. Using alcohol is more effective than distilled water because not only does it displace the water and sediments, it also evaporates faster with less residue. It will not harm your mobile phone.
Preferably, use denatured alcohol or a 95% alcohol solution. Denatured alcohol may be purchased at any hardware store and is used to clean electronics because it evaporates quickly and leaves no residue. You should check to see what the alcohol is denatured with. If it is anything other than methanol (some are denatured with very hazardous chemicals such as methyl ethylene ketone [MEK]) you should not use it, as some denaturants can melt plastics.
Most drugstores or larger retailers carry 91% rubbing alcohol. Regular rubbing alcohol is only 70% and is not recommended. Distilled water won't displace water (it is water) but it will dilute minerals and salts that conduct electricity, which cause "short circuits". Prolonged exposure to other liquids will cause corrosion of the copper traces within the mobile phone, and will most likely cease its operation.

  • How do I get the subsidized price for a new phone when I already have a plan?

I have been a Verizon customer since September. I have a dumb phone, and I'm really having trouble keeping up with my life. Now that the Droid 4 is coming out in February I've decided that it's time to upgrade. The Droid is coming out at $199 with a two year contract, I think. My question is, what do I have to do to get the subsidized price for the phone? In my current contract I can't upgrade until 2013. Should I cancel that contract all together and just pay the ETF? Then get a new contract with the new phone? Can I even do that? Also, would there be any way to keep my phone number in this situation?
Thanks for your help, Verizon Community!

Ok I kno it ***** but here is what i have done in the past when i had your same situation I have been a VW customer for about 13 years so i had old equipment lying around that i could use but If you are a new verizon customer you will have to find an older phone that does not require a monthly data package. You say you have a dumb phone so your old equipment mite all ready work for this. Here is what you do
Go to Verizon and get the new phone you want tell them you will be adding a line to your account so you can sign up and get the new Droid 4 phone for the discounted price of $199 tell them you want to add the phone to your plan and convert your existing plan to a family plan this should be around the same price as you are currently paying unless you have an unlimited plan. But there is an extra monthly charge of $10 more per month per xtra phone on the plan up to 4 + the 1 original phone. so you are allowed 5 total on a family plan.
Then the following day you transfer the new phone to your old number and vise versa.
You now shut off the old phone and put it in a draw. You now have the new phone you want and dont have to pay the early term fee. the early term fee is pro rated so every month it will go down by $5-$10 per month im not sure exactly how much. You can call verizon and ask exactly how much it is
Although this way it will end up costing you $240  24mo x $10 you do not have to pay it all up front and if you ever have a problem with your droid ie (breaks, stolen, loss) you have a back up that will be ready to go Plus you get to keep your current number
    Hope this helps
Actually, if you are not ALREADY on a Family Plan, it WILL end up costing you more than this extra $10/month. For example, if you are on the 450 minute Individual Plan, you are paying $40/month and possibly $20/month for unlimited texting. The smallest Family Plan(700 minutes/month) would put you at $70/month and if you want the same unlimited texting, it would be an additional $30/month. This is $100/month vs $60/month on an Individual Plan which comes out to an additional $40/month x 19 months(24 months - 5 months you have already completed on your original line) = $760 ADDITIONAL you would pay until you could cancel your original line. If you wanted to keep your original #, though, you would instead pay an ADDITIONAL $960($40 x 24 months) until you could cancel your new line. Either way, it would MUCH cheaper to just pay full retail for the new phone.
Remember, this is ONLY if you are currently on an Individual Plan and change to a Family Plan with 2 phones. If you are currently on a Family Plan with others, and have the ability to add an additional line, your additional payments would not be this high.
