Why modifying a file name requires authorization ?

Hi,
I have an new external hard disk on which I created 2 partitions.  One is for my media files and the other for backing up tu image disks.    I, as a user, have «read and write» privileges to the «media» partition and it's folders.
Why modifying a file/folder name still requires authorization ?
Thanks in advance.

Select the hard drive in the Finder, click cmd-i, and at the bottom of the inspector, in the Permissions tab, unlock the padlock with your Mac login. Then click "Ignore ownership on this volume" and close the window. See if that helps.

  • Why does the file Name for file attached with Annotations "Attach File" (paperclip) become Unknown when Comments are Published?

Our company recently purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro XI for the purpose of using it for shared electronic reviews.  We are using Send for Shared Review created in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, and all the Comment tools work as expectedexcept the paperclip in Annotations.
When a Word or Excel or Image(png, jpeg) file is attached using the Annotations paperclip, the initiator can initially see and open it. But after Publish Comments is selected and the review file is closed, the file "Name" changes to "Unknown" (although the Description has the correct file name and extension).  The Modified information is Unknown, as is the Size and Compressed Size.
When the review file is then re-opened, even the initiator cannot open the file, although:
The file location is marked with the paperclip within the document.
The file name is shown in the Comments List with the initiator's name.
In the Attachments list (the paperclip beneath the Thumbnails and Bookmarks) the Name appears as Unknown, Description shows the file name, Modified is Unknown, Size is Unknown, and Compressed Size is Unknown.
The file Name cannot be edited, although the file Description can be.
We have followed the procedure described in the tutorials but cannot figure out how to troubleshoot this situation.  Since this feature was the reason for the purchase of Adobe Acrobat Pro IX, we would any help. Please don't leave out any basics since we are all new users.
We have several people with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and the rest have Adobe Reader XI and it is a Windows platform.  Can someone please give us some advice how to get this feature to work as described?

    FYI Rave,
There are some other forum entries with this exact same issue...:

  • How to modify 'Specified File Name' of a scheduled report

I run a daily scheduled report every morning and send it out as an emailed attachment. My problem is, I want the file name of the pdf attachment to include the previous day's date. How can I modify the 'Specified File Name' setting in the destination tab to reflect the previous day's date. I do not want to use %SI_STARTTIME% because that only shows the date&time that the report was actually run....I need the previous date. So far I am unsuccessful.
    Thanks

    Hi,
i think this is only possible via the SDK. I would recommend creating a Support Message with SAP to solve this issue.
Maybe there is already Samplecode available from the Support.

  • Why does Logical file name in sys.master_files does not match SSMS Properties

    SQL 2012 11.0.2100.60 (x64)
I have a sproc that does an ALTER to change the logical file name of a DB. Getting this error at a customer site "5041 MODIFY FILE failed. File 'Template_201401_Log' does not exist.' When I query the sys.Master_files the log name is'Template_201401_Log'.
but when i look in SSMS at the DBs -> properties -> files the logs logical file name is  Store01_log. There is only a single log file.
Just found out that if I change the log file name in SSMS it then corrects it in the sys.Master_files. So it is now corrected. BUt what would cause it to be a mismatch between the sys.Master_files and the SSMS Properties?

    Hi,
Can you show us the query. What is template file  ?

    Hi,
you should have it in your NWDS plugins directory. I have it here:
    <i>\Program Files\SAP\JDT\eclipse\plugins\com.sap.km.rfwizard\lib\bc.rf.global.service.appproperties_api.jar</i>

PS: you can try to find it yourself - not so hard: just search in the filesystem for XXXXXX.class including searching archives...

    Hi all,
Please exlain why have class file with $1, $2

Those are anonymous inner classes you created in your MyClass code.

  • Why is a real name required?

Why do you require my real name? I wished to create a second account, to use when talking with people I met on the internet(keeping it seperate from my real life one) but I see that I need to type in my full real name.
I find it ridiculus since my actual account does not have a last one, and hence I shouldn't be forced to enter my real name, when I want to use the account on the internet.

  • Exporting Photos to Web Service Retaining Modified File Name

I recently started using iPhoto 08 to edit and organize my photos. In 2008 we took nearly 10,000 pictures. I have used and would like to continue using Winkflash as my photo printing service. What I like best about Winkflash is that they print the name of the photo on the back of the pictures. Before I upload the pictures, I edit them and modify the file name to the date, who's in the picture, and where the event is. When my photos arrive, I don't have to label the back as all the information is already there.
In November I started using iPhoto 08. After editing and renaming (using the Batch Change > Title option) and entering information about each picture in the title frame on over 2,000 photos, I started uploading them to Winkflash. Much to my dismay, the file name was not retained. ARGHHH! (To rename the photos, I use the international date format so the pictures are chronological; i.e. 20081231 New Year Eve - 01 Ron)
I used Winkflash's image uploader and dragged and dropped the images from iPhoto. Why is it not retaining the file name but reverting back to the camera's IMG_XXX?
    Message was edited by: blondiedo

Because adding a Title is not the same a renaming a file.
Select the pics in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. In the resulting dialogue you have the option (among others) to set the Kind: to JPEG and then to use the Title as Filename. Complete the export to the desktop where iPhoto will make a copy of the files with your desired filename. Upload those.
Failing that, ask your Print Service to support standard IPTC metadata.

  • Can we remove timestamp which is added infront of the file name, in archive

Can we remove timestamp which is added infront of the file name of datafile which was imported succesfully , in archive folder, i have a requriment to move file from archive folder  to another folder, but programmer is finding diffficulty in moving the file which has time stamp, he can move file with date stamp, but not able to move file which has time stamp, is there is any option in MDIS.Ini file or anywhere in import manager or console to modify the file names , or remove timestamp when file is moved in archive folder.
does anyone faced similar issue, require help.........

    Hi,
Moving file from Ready directory to Archive directory is MDM internal process and I strongly feel it is not possible to control the naming convention of File to be placed in Archive directory.
But you can explain what problem you developer is facing while moving file from Archive directory to some other directory..then we can think about solution to acheive this. Also on which operating system you MDM server is installed.

  • Changing file names in the Information Pane

Why doesn't changing the names of photographs in the Information Pane also change the name of the files in the iPhoto Library folder??
If I import photos direct from my camera, the photos are stored with generic file names (like DSC_006) in the Original Folder and the Data folder in iPhoto Library folder. Once stored there, I understand that if you move, delete or "rename" any of those files "in the Finder" that iPhoto may not thereafter be able to see them.
But I don't understand why if you change those file names in the Information Pane from within the iPhoto application, why the actual file names in the Original and Data folder aren't correspondingly changed.
I would prefer to eliminate the generic file names and presently the only way that I can do that is to simply transfer the photos from the memory cards, change the file names and then import the files into iPhoto.
This seems like an unnecessary step.
    Am I missing something here?

If you want the capability of editing the original file names they you'll need to upgrade to a more professional application like iView MediaPro. Aperture doesn't let you change the original file names from within the application.
If you need to the use file outside iPhoto with the same name as the Title in iPhoto then you can do just as PhillyPhan pointed out, export to the Desktop using the User Title option.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

In LV2011 I am selecting a text file while my code is running. The "file name:" field is not populated with the selected file name.

I figured it out while I was trying to extract the applicable section of my code to send it to you.
I had an asterisc wired to the "default name" input of the "File dialog" VI.
Now I am not wiring anything to the "default name" input of the "File dialog" VI and it works just fine.

  • File Name in filmstrip in develop module

1 thing that is realy bugging me is that i am unable to display the file name in the filmstrip in develop module... It would be very usefull when searching for a specific file...
BTW yes i know that it is possible to put the mouse over the image in filmstrip which will breafly show the name but it would be helpfull to be able to show it all the time, just like rating / flag / color label

The name of an image is always displayed in the information strip above the filmstrip thumbnails. The name changes as you mouse over the thumbnails.
Also, you can display the file name in the Develop View options (Ctrl+J) dialog. Hit I to toggle the information views.
Finally, why is the file name so important while in the Develop Module?

  • Same file name when downloading new pics

The prev camera I had (Sony Cyber shot/Steady Shot?)always kept dynamic file numbers/names however now have Nikon D90 and now if do search on a file number now get numerous pics under same file name as new camera restarts at same number all the time.
Is there an easy way to deal with this. I would really not want to have to rename all files as soon as I download them. That can be over 300 pics at a time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

When I say file name I mean the name/number that appears under the pic in iphoto.
Yes that is the file name
Do most people leave these numbers or change them, do you know?
Most people leave it - some preprocess all photos and assign meaningful file names and then import
I know you can assign words to them and then retrieve them by calling up all pics associated with that word(s).
You can assign a title (which can optionally be used as the file name when you export photos), a description, keywords, and a rating
Do you have any other hints for me? Do you use the Mangler software you referred to in the prev post?
Normally I do not modify the file names - if I get photos from someone else I usually use name mangler to identify the source (which I could do with keywords but for photos that are not mine I prefer having the file name show the source) - once in a while I will change some but normally I just import directly from the camera and ignore the file name
