Why multi-colored horiz bands?

I've been having trouble with an Echo Mia MIDI PCI card that's been crashing the computer. Recently I pulled it out, then re-installed the card and the driver. Now suddenly I'm getting a screen full of multi-colored vertical bands that scroll and change and quickly make it impossible to see the desktop. The only other software I've installed recently is the latest update to Windowshade.
Seems like a strange coincidence that something besides the Mia MIDI suddenly went bad. Can anyone tell me, is this a graphics card problem or worse?

When I looked the three fans were spinning; two in the computer and one on the Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB graphics card. When I removed the card I saw lots of crud caked between the fan and the heat sink. It is of course possible that the fan wasn't spinning as it should, and heat built up enough to crack the plastic ring. The green plastic AGP retaining ring was broken when I opened the box, not just cracked but broken in two. This must have been a fairly recent development because it was ok some weeks back when I opened the box, cleaned out the dust and removed the Mia MIDI card after a crash . Do you know if I can replace the ring?
If heat is causing the screen garbage why was everything ok during the time I installed the OS and after? This may have been as long as an hour and a half. By the time this was happening, I had already cleaned the fan and removed all the other cards. I didn't replace the slot covers so there was even more ventilation because of that.

Yeah it's dead. Take it to an Apple Genius Bar and have it checked out. Then buy a new one.

Open Control Panel -> Check in Mouse Properties -> Remove Checkmark from "Display Pointer Trails"

If Word will not allow you to do anything, you have to force-quit the evil thing:  > Force Quit...

Time Machine makes full backups of the hard drive. If you want to change this, you can open System Preferences > Time Machine > Options, and add excluded items. However, I recommend you to keep backing up the whole drive, so you will be able to restore the whole backup in case of a hard disk failure

Why does multi-colored spin wheel keep coming up and computer is unresponsive?

I have a macbook pro 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB.
When I am on my user account and on safari and doing other things, the multi colored spin wheel always comes up usually every 20 seconds or so and my computer becomes very sluggish or unresponsive.
Also, when that wheel comes up, my mac makes a faint loading, clicking noise every 4 or 5 seconds.
If I switch to a "test" user account on my mac, everything works fine.
Any suggestions??

That is the "Wait cursor". This indicates that computer is busy performing a task and it takes a while.
To resolve the issue follow the suggestions in this article including "Repair Disk".

A Safe Mode boot help ...
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes much longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.
Then see if the lines / square is gone.

Multi-color line in Safari

On Safari 5 there is occasionally a multi-color line running almost through the entire window. Does anyone know why this happens or what it is?

That shouldn't be happening, obviously.
Have you tried Safari on another user account? See if you see that line there.

Indexing, TM backup and the multi-Colored Pinwheel

Hi All.
I seem to be getting a lot of multi-colored pinwheel hangs on my 6 month old MacBookPro and I can't tell if it is due to Parallels 6 being installed or what.
I sometimes get Finder to be 101.3 (or close) % of CPU. I also have a vm_prl that pegs out at 100% CPU which I know is a Parallels issue I need to solve.
Question:
Does anyone know why Finder would get up to 100% CPU and is it a problem possibly related to the slowness of the computer?
Also, I noticed that Mac is "indexing" my 1 TB external drive when I plug it in. Is it possible that this (or my Time Machine via Wifi backups) are causing the slowdown and what to do about it.

It's been recommended at the Genius Bar at least once and it was recommended on the Parallels forum just yesterday (with the rationale that I am a new Mac user and when you add the complexity of Parallels on top it /is/ possible to mess up something with the Mac OS...).
Depends on what you mean by "fresh install." You can get a fresh copy of OSX fairly easily, without touching anything else. That may be worth a try.
Some folks may say (or mean) a "clean install," which doesn't exist on OSX, but they usually mean erase and reinstall everything. That's the drastic step I'd do only as a last resort.
If you want a fresh copy of OSX, just start up from your Snow Leopard Install disc and install OSX. Unless it's the same version as you're now on, before using any apps, download and install the 10.6.5 "combo" update. That's the cleverly-named combination of all the updates to Snow Leopard since it was first released, so installing it should fix anything that's gone wrong since then, such as with one of the normal "point" updates. Info and download available at: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1324 (if you're on 10.6.4, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1048 ). Be sure to do a +Repair Permissions+ via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder) afterwards.

Go into outline view. If you can see the outlines of the letterforms, you can't just change the text. If the letterforms are solid black, take the type tool, select the text and type yours.
Anyway you can just select the letters, take the type tool and type new text.
Working with the type tool is a basic. Please see the manual for details

Based on your description, your switch condition in SSRS don’t work ,right?
I have tested on my local environment and it works fine, so your problem may due to the conditions of different colors, for example, you haven’t include the value of 2000 and 5000,If the AVGSALES value is 2000 or 5000, this expression will not work, and
you can also check you have put the expression in the right place, Please check details below one by one to make sure you have done the right:
1. Did you want to specify three different colors for three different ranges of values like below?
Fields!AVGSALES.Value<2000(red)
Fields!AVGSALES.Value=<2000 and Fields!AVGSALES.Value<5000(blue)
Fields!AVGSALES.Value>=5000(yellow)
If the above ranges of value is correct you can modify the switch function in the expression as below:
=switch(Fields!AVGSALES.Value=<2000 ,"red", Fields!AVGSALES.Value>2000 and Fields!AVGSALES.Value<5000,"blue",Fields!AVGSALES.Value>=5000,"yellow")
2. Select the textbox of “AVGSALES” in the properties window and select the expression of color to add the switch function above.

Why do colors come over as Color Book swatches when I copy and paste to a new document? Original document has CMYK spot color swatches. I copy them and paste them in new document and it gets converted to a Color Book swatch. Why?

Check the spot color options of that document.
It's in the swatches panel's menu.
