Why must I quit iTunes to switch between iTunes libraries?

Whichever user's iTunes was launched first "hogs" AppleTV's available connection until quit.
"Can't connect" is Home Sharing's middle name. Odd that the libraries can always be seen however.

I was wrong. Quitting iTunes for the other user didn't let me connect to the library I wanted. Time to reboot the computer in order to switch libraries.

Why must I open iTunes in 32-bit mode to play Burn Notice Season 7 episodes on a MacOS 10.8.4 system?

I have an Intel Mac Pro (tower system) running MacOS 10.8.4 with iTunes 11.0.4 (4). Why must I open iTunes 11.0.4 (4) in 32-bit mode to play the latest (as in June 2013) episodes of Burn Notice (Season 7) when PRIOR episodes of Burn Notice (i.e., Season 6 and below) have no problems being played in 64-bit mode? But after I play the Season 7 episode ONCE in 32-bit mode iTunes, I can restart iTunes in 64-bit mode and then play that same episode without a problem? It seems like something in the file is erroneously set in 32-bit mode upon downloading from the iTunes Store that once played in a 32-bit mode iTunes, upgrades it so it can be played in a 64-bit mode iTunes. If I try to play the Season 7 episode in 64-bit mode iTunes without first playing in 32-mode iTunes, I get the dreaded error message, "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."

Just got same problem.
#1. There is no Box, under Label or anywher to uncheck or check.
#2. The device I want to use does not have an update driver. What I really need if for the Box to check or uncheck which should be there according to Apple Help.
#3. I tried this, resetting the whole computer's kernal extension by using a Terminal command (although I don't like doing that). It didn't work. sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386
So I reset it to: sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture x86_64
But emphasize, again, I don't like doing SUDO commands in Terminal.
So...Anything else to try?

Switching between multiple libraries

So heres the deal. I have a 30G Video and my father has a 30G Video also. He likes his music the way it is and I do too. I have heard that you can create multiple libraries so you dont have to create different Login names (windows, we both share one computer.) So the thing is, how do you switch between those libraries? I tried just opening the library but all that does is add my library to the current one.
How can I swith between multiple libraries with ease and without messing any of the music in them up.

Have you tried rebooting your machine? Are you multitasking and running out of RAM perhaps? Reboot the machine and check to see if it works again.
If that doesn't work, go into system preferences and check your keyboard shortcuts.

How to switch between different libraries for different iPods?

Hi,
I succesfully created two separate iTunes libraries on my computer (windows XP) for the iPods of me and my girlfriend. But, how can we switch easily back and forth between the different libraries?
The suggested option on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432 'method three' and bullet '13' does not appear / work....

i'd like to know how i can switch between libraries without closing down iTunes.
Unfortunately you can only choose your Library at startup. So the only way to switch Libraries is to close iTunes ...

What is the difference between switching between Iphoto libraries.....

...using iphoto and iphoto08? I ask because right now I have iphoto (what ever the latest before 08) i have so many photos i had to add some libraries, which by the way was not easy. Then to switch between libraries i have to close iphoto hold options button and click on iphoto then it tells me to choose a libary. When i try to choose it does not show all of my libraries. I also don't think I can have mulitipal libraries open at the same time. With iphoto 08 can I have more than one open and is it easier to find libraries and switch between them? Please help. I have quit using my iphoto be cause i am so frusterated!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As LH recommended the free version of iPhoto Library Manager will let you quickly and easily move between multiple libraries. I use iPLM to manage over 15 libraries and can move between them in a flash like this. Once you add a library to iPLM you can just use iPLM to open that library without having to go thru the Option key method and trying to remember where the library is located. Much faster with iPLM.
If you need to copy photos between libraries and keep the keywords and comments intact you can with the paid version of iPLM.
I do have one library that's 20,000+ photos in size and don't have any problems with it. However, you should have a backup plan for your libraries.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Must force quit itunes

itunes works great until i open the itunes store. after i access the itunes store, the only way to get itunes to quit is to force quit. always happens when i access store, never happens when i am simply using itunes without the store. am i missing something?

I am having the same problem: iTunes hangs when I try to quit. I haven't noticed it hanging at any other time, just when I try to quit. However, it also takes an extremely long time (one to three minutes) to start up and will sometimes quit in the middle of starting up. I am wondering if I have corrupted song files or something in my library? Or a corrupted plist file? Anybody have any ideas?
I did just transfer this library from a G4 Mac running iLife '06 to the new MacBook Pro running iLife '09. Is there some incompatible file that didn't get updated, perhaps?

Switch between calls

Why am I not able to switch between calls or drop calls on a Verizon galaxy s4? Am i missing something? Also, the software doesn't seem to allow you to merge the calls before the other call is answered.

Switching between mobile data and wifi for emails only

I tried to look myself, but could not find it....Is there a way that i can set my emails on my phone to only download when connected to wifi? I don't want to use unnecessary data when I am at the office (I do have wifi at home) and on my pc, but also don't want to switch off all mobile data as I won't be able to receive instand messages then. We are unfortunately not allowed to link our phones on our office wifi and data in South Africa is quite expensive when you run out of your data bundle from your provider.

Delaying when switching between apple mail and safari

Create shortcuts for different iTunes libraries?

My wife and I share a single Windows 7 User account but have separate iTunes libraries. It can be a hassle holding the shift button to bring up the option to switch between the libraries. Is there was a way to create a shortcut for each so I can just click on one to open my library and she can click on another for hers? Is that possible?

Why must I reboot my Mac to switch between iTunes libraries?

AppleTV 2 can always see the libraries but choosing "the wrong one" gives me the error message about not being able to connect.
We have two OS X user accounts, different iTunes libraries, both setup with the same AppleID. I have to reboot my Mac and launch the desired user's iTunes first in order for my AppleTV 2 to connect to whicever iTunes library I want. When I want to watch something from the other user's library I have to repeat the process but launch that other user's iTunes first.
Whichever user's iTunes gets launched first after a reboot is what AppleTV can use. Whichever iTunes gets launched secondly can't be used by AppleTV. User login order doesn't matter and logging out/in without a reboot won't help. Ethernet vs. WiFi doesn't matter. My 5th-gen AirPort Extreme isn't a variable here. None of Apple's suggested fixes work.
The above has been occuring for over a year, so the involved OSes are 10.6/10.7 and whatever applicable versions of iTunes and AppleTV 2 software (I stay current on everything.)

And now it's currently working correctly and I didn't edit any settings anywhere.

Alright why oh why can't I switch between iTunes details and mini player?

Ok I like the new format, separation of the iTunes store makes it a great media player. However the with the new iTunes application what Neanderthal decided not to use the green button to switch between listing and viewing and the mini player, instead it's a trip to the keyboard OR stupidly switching between a big screen layout and a not so big layout,... useless!
I use itunes as follows open application select music, settings and then set to mini player and get on with what I'm doing, at least let us choose the behaviour it has when clicking the green button,... please,...

The only fix at the moment is to hold the option key when clicking the green button.

I have multiple itunes libraries. why can't i switch between them (i can see them in the dialog box but they are not select-able)?

i have a numbe of libraries; i have never had any problems switching between them. now, when i press alt button and click through to 'choose library...', i am seeing all of my libraries in the dialog box but they are 'greyed' out and i cannot select them.
any help would be appreciated.

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.

HT201272 Can't download any apps. I have 2 itunes accounts, and happened to switch between them, now neither works.

I can't download apps from appstore. I have 2 itunes accounts and happened to have switched between them last night, now neither works. Someone broke into my original account and racked up charges, Apple closed it for me and suggested I open a new one,which I did, then they reinstated the original account. Some apps need to go to the second account to update since I had to resort to the new account while Apple took several months to figure out what happened, so I am stuck switching on occassion to update apps. When I went back to the primary account, I cannot download anything. I tried quitting both accounts, but nothing works. Help please!

If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
