Why must I restart my computer to regain the RAM that Safari 5 ***** up?
To be clear, I Empty the Cache and clear my history religiously AKA many times while using Safari, but it will still suck up over 3 GB of ram and NOT release it unless I shut it down. Oftentimes I have to re-start my iMac to clear my memory. I keep track of this with the Activity Monitor so I know how much ram Safari is wasting.
I NEVER had this problem with Safari 4. Safari 5 has been nothing but a pain in the a** since I upgraded. Some upgrade.

Try troubleshooting Safari and see if that helps...
If you visit sites that require Flash, uninstall then reinstall the latest version of Flash then repair permissions.
Uninstall Flash
Install the most recent version of Flash here.
Now repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
You may have third party add ons that are not compatible with Safari 5. Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And from the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons, click Reset and relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference.
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
Use Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner for system maintenance.

I'm using a macbook pro with version 10.6.8 installed. Whenever I try to install my software updates, it immediately asks me to restart my computer to finish the installation. After doing so and signing back on to my account, nothing has changed and no updates have been installed. It still says the same 8 items need to be installed, and the same process occurs again. Any idea how I can fix this?
You have 10.6 on that machine, I suggest you stick with it for performance, third party hardware and software reasons as long as possible.
Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)

Far as your Safari problem do these things until it's resolved:
1: Software Update fully under the Apple menu.
2: Check the status of your plug-ins and update (works for all browsers) also install Firefox and see if your problems continue. You should always have at least two browsers on the machine just in case one fails.

I looked in console and its saying that it may be because of Sophos Anti-Virus, i deleted and uninstalled all traces of Sophos but looked in console and this is some of the lines coming up:

I have a MacBook Pro 13.3 OS- MAC OS X LION.
Whenever I am staring the computer, it says You need to restart your computer by pressing the power button.
I did this number of times and everytime it freezes to the same screen.Solution needed urgently pls.

This morning i was fooling around with a /usr/local file, i accidently deleted it and the computer stopped responding, so i held the power button for a few seconds and the computer turned off. Upon pressing it again, the apple logo appeared, followed by a black screen with a black box inside it saying restart your computer by holding the power button for a few seconds... so i did that, and restarted the computer.. Nothing, the same box appeared again, Kept trying and trying..

Because the Firefox update today required me to update and install an update to an adobe application and then required me to restart my computer I "lost " the connection to my previous session and tabs. Is there any way to recover my tabs from yesterday?

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

It is true that the only way to sync your Mac with iCloud is to upgrad. You need to be running OS X Lion 10.7.2 or higher in order to sync your Mac with iCloud. I have an attachment to my iPod Classic that allows me to record. What is the make and model of this recorder? Do you have that information available?

I changed my computer (old Dell is dead!) and now when I want to sync the contents of my iPod onto my new computer (a Sony Vaio), it tells me I can only sync with one computer (i.e. the one that died!) How do I get around this??
-Transfer iTunes purchases to the compuer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discusssed here:
Copy music
- Connect the Ipd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not contain synced media like apps and music. -
Why must I restart to connect to the internet every time?
When I start my iMac the blue progress bar in the address bar freezes and will not connect to the internet. The computer itself works fine for applications not requiring internet access. Upon restarting the computer I get the internet connection right away. Occasionally (not often) I have had to restart as many as 6 times to get beyond the "freeze". This is not a problem when I use the ethernet cable, but even though this is a desktop I sometimes like to work from the comfort of another room, and being self contained it is a somewhat portable unit. I tried Airport Express, reloaded the O/S only, did a complete "Erase and Install"-all to no avail. Several phone calls to Apple Care, two visits to the Store, several calls to my DSL provider (Verizon) all got me nowhere. My wife's PC notebook does not have this issue. I am about to ask APPLE for an exchange but would just as soon get this unit working without this unproductive hassle and waste of my time. Anyone else ever have this problem? I am thinking my next attempted fix might be a new modem/router. Any recommendations there? Thanks for any input.
I really think this isn't a problem with your computer as much as it is your router.
It may not be set-up right, it may just not have a large enough range, or there may be interference.
I suggest resetting your router and reestablishing your wireless network before trying anything else. Your router's manual should help you out with the resetting.
