Why my adobe lightbox gallery widget works well on "live view" and not well in the browsers?

Hi I need help with adobe lightbox gallery.I am building a website using dreamweaver cs5.
My problem is that the gallery works perfect in "live view" but when I check it in the browsers the pictures do not show at all.
What am I doing wrong .Please help.
Thank you

Hi All:
From my experience with other people having problems with the widget, here are some things you can check when it doesn't work:
Names with uppercase characters: Some servers don't see a difference between "images" and "Images" but most of them do: Check that the paths to the folders and files are correctly written. I encourage people to use always lowercase characters. Same applies to spaces (I prefer to use an underscore instead)
"scripts" folder: I've also found that some servers don't allow a folder called "scripts". You should change both the folder name and the paths in the main document.
Paths: This is the most common one: Make sure that the paths to the required files are correct. In theory, you shouldn't find this when the document is at the site root. If the document is inside a folder, sometimes files' location and related paths may vary. If you are using CS5 or above, a good trick is using the related files toolbar and check whether DW can find and open the files.
Upload all the required files: Some users forget to upload the "lightbox" folder, located inside "images". That folder contains the images used by the lightbox to work (nav and close buttons, for example). And also check that the paths to those images is correct. In this case, you can edit the paths in the parameters that you will find in the script code added to the document (names are quite self explanatory and every param is commented, so this shouldn't be a problem)
I hope this helps.

  • Adobe Lightbox Gallery Widget

Can anyone please solve a problem I'm having with the above widget?
I inserted the Lightbox Gallery Widget into the Editable Region of a template page on my website. I then deleted three of the five default images in the code and swapped the remaining two images with my own images using the properties panel. The result was that the widget no longer works.
Therefore, I placed the widget onto a newly created (non template page) and it worked ok, but after I deleted three of the five default images in the code and swapped the remaining two images with my own images using the properties panel, it no longer worked.
I havn't uploaded my website as yet.
    thanks

  • My Javascript works in Dreamweaver Live View, But Not On The Server

I set up a javascript function to set the focus to the first field in a form as the page loads.  It works fine in Dreamweaver's Live View, but not on the local or remote servers.  Here's the code:
In the heading I have the following function:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function setFocus()
    document.getElementById("firstname").focus();
    </script>
In the <head tag, I have:
    <body onload="setFocus()" ...
and the first field in the form is:
                <input name="firstname" type="text" id="firstname" style="text-align: center; color: #009; text-transform: capitalize; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; line-height: normal; font-style: normal; font-size: 14px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" tabindex="1" value="<?php echo $fstname; ?>" size="15" maxlength="20">
I guess I must be missing something, but don't know what.

EUREKA! (and OOOPPPPSS!)  I found the problem (and I thought javascript was case sensitive - according to the tutorial, it's supposed to be).
Here's apparently wha hoppen.  The first field in the form is the person's first name, but it's also a SPRY validation field.  I gave the actual field the name and id of "firstname", and the SPRY validation the name "FirstName", figuring that scripts would be case sensitive.  In fact, when I first inserted the SPRY object, I tried to name it "firstname" also, but it wouldn't let me, so I capitalized the first letters, and it accepted that; that made me feel that this is OK.  Here's the entire field's code:          <label>First Name:
               <span id="FirstName">
                <input name="fstname" type="text" id="fstname" style="text-align: center; color: #009; text-transform: capitalize; font-variant: normal; font-weight: bold; line-height: normal; font-style: normal; font-size: 14px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;" tabindex="1" value="<?php echo $fstname; ?>" size="15" maxlength="20">
                <span class="textfieldRequiredMsg">A value is required.</span><span class="textfieldMinCharsMsg">Minimum number of characters not met.</span></span></label>
I accidentally tripped over the answer when I started using the Dreamweaver's Edit>Find Next search to see if I had something else named "firstname", and I found that it located every permutation of that word (e.g. firstname, FirstName, FIRSTNAME etc.).  Having seen that, I tried changing the "name=" and "id=" to "fstname, and the same corresponding change in the javascript, and VOILA! it worked.  That leaves me rather curious about this alleged "case sensitivity" thing.  I get the impression that it IS case sensitive, except when IT'S NOT.  How does this work, and how do I know when it is and isn't?

  • Lightbox works in  Dreamweaver Live View but not in browsers

I wanted to find a method of showing a larger version of an image when it is clicked on so have added Lightbox2 by Lokesh Dhakar. I have set up the code for just one image to start with - the seagull on http://www.pembrokeshirewalescoastalholidays.co.uk/Food_and_Drink_in_Pembrokeshire.html
In Live View in Dreamweaver the action works fine, but when I click on the seagull image on the web page in a browser, all I get is a white box with a small square inside it - I should be getting an image of pembroke Castle.
I would be very grateful if you could let me know where I am going wrong?

The following files are not found on your server -
    closelabel.gif
    loading.gif
    pembroke castle 7 large 640 by 480.jpg

Glad you got it all working! Good job!
Just a note (for yourself and anyone else using Flash) on the rumor that all Flash files must be in the root folder... simply not true. In my opinion, as with any other type of files on your site, I'd suggest putting them in organized folders.... all the images in one folder... then subfolder for diff categories of images, flv video files in another folder, maybe keep all the .swf files in another, the xml data files in another, etc. Flash asset files can be just as organized as any other type of files.
From an old article.... for review:
    Pathing issues
Almost always when it works on the local machine and not the server, it's a pathing problem.
You can put your Flash related files in whatever folders you want, they do NOT have to be in the root, they do NOT all have to be in the same folder. But if you have a problem and if sticking them all in the root folder works, then you know that the issue was a pathing problem.
Just remember that paths used in the .swf become relative to the Web page on which the .swf is placed, NOT it’s physical location.  So for example, if your .swf is in the flash/data folder and you use that .swf on a Web page in the root folder, you are in effect, removing that .swf from flash/data and putting it in root. So if the .swf is loading any related files (xml, images, video, etc), the path used inside the .swf to load the .xml file has to be relative to it's new location in root and then back down into flash/data. This is true even though when testing the .swf by itself, it can be inside flash/data and work just fine, since relative to it's location, the path is just fine, they are in the same folder. But if that same path is used when the .swf is placed on a page two folder levels up, the relative path has changed, the old "same folder" path will not work.
In fact if you are placing the .swf on a web page in a different folder than the .swf is stored in, and that .swf calls external assets, then direct clicking and opening of the .swf in it’s folder should NOT work! That’s because the paths to the external assets should be relative to the Web page and not the physical location of the .swf.
So just be sure that you use addresses relative to the final Web page locations (not physical file locations) and you can put the Flash related files in what ever folders you want.

  • ITunes 12.1.2.7 works for one user profile and not another on the same PC

When using iTunes 12.1.2.27 with my user profile in Windows 7, it will run for about a minute before I get the message that iTunes has crashed and that Windows is searching for a solution.  It never finds one, and the problem persists.  I've tried doing a restart of the computer and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.  Nothing works.
However, my wife has a separate user profile on the same computer.  The same installation of iTunes that crashes with me works as it should when she uses it with her profile.  What's going on, and how do I fix it?

  • Problems using lightbox gallery widget

Hi,  I am just learning Dreamweaver and thought I would try out a widget.  I tried the lightbox gallery widget, and it mostly works, except that I get a box with a question mark on the right, under the photo when it is enlarged.  It can't find some of the included widget image icon files. Anybody know why?  It does it in live view and firefox and safari.
I looked at the code and from what I can tell, the code references images which appear to be in the correct directory /images/lightbox/blahblah.gif.
For example, the widget is supposed to say 'close' under the image, and that text is a .gif image apparently.
Anyone have this trouble or know what the problem could be?
    Thanks
    Bob

I found a fix for something similar that occurred on my machine. I too was seeing no problems locally but when I posted it to my site, it just had the placeholder and no images....
Apparently, dreamweaver is smarter than the browser... (maybe incorrect statement) however..... the file extensions are case sensitive!
    I had this-------- <A href="Img/CGM_1.JPG" border="0"  rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG]" title="CGM Pic Set"><img src="Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG" /></a>
    <a href="Img/CGM_2.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG]"></a>
                      <a href="Img/CGM_3.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG]"></a>
                      <a href="Img/CGM_4.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.JPG]"></a>
Well, I didnt think anything was so bad, all of the colors were right I wasn't getting any warnings.... wtf?
As it turns out, and this is only because I just started a new image set after testing an individual - - baby steps - - if you use the properties bar at the bottom of DW, it applies a different case for specific parts...... i.e. this is what it produced
    <A HREF="Img/CGM_1.jpg" border="0"  rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg]" title="CGM Pic Set"><img src="Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg" /></a>
                      <a HREF="Img/CGM_2.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg]"></a>
                      <a HREF="Img/CGM_3.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg]"></a>
                      <a HREF="Img/CGM_4.jpg" rel="lightbox[Img/CGM_1thumb.jpg]"></a>
Notice the HREF's are now UPPER case and the jpg's are now lower case. !!!! really?!?!?
Also, another thing to look out for is the folder/ in front of your thumbnail; make sure it is there. In my case I use my sam "Img" folder, not the "images" folder that lightbox creates.
Hope this helps, I beat my head against the wall for a total of 10 hours over 2 days trying to figure this out. I couldn't find anything on the internet. I'm going to post this so others having this issue get it resolved. I found those, just no resolution.

  • Lightbox Gallery Widget Rocks

    Hello Everyone,
I really like the look of photographs as presented by the Lightbox Gallery Widget, available on Dreamweaver Exchnage, and authored by Andres Cayon, from the Spain  Adobe Dreamweaver User  Group.
Also, please let me express my gratitude for his help with a small issue. The word 'close" did not appear because the path for that gif needed to be changed in JS Lightbox. Not only did Andres Canyon help resolve this issue, he did so very promptly.
The Lightbox Gallery Widget is a beautiful way to showcase my photographs and I am grateful that he makes it available for free and for his timely assistance. What can I say but many thanks to Andres Cayon!

    Thanks for the reply
I think i have it working now.
Not really sure what I did though.

  • Help with lightbox gallery widget

    Hello
I built a website for my photography business and used the lightbox gallery widget. I'm not massively HTML minded so I tend to build in design view and just tweak the HTML code.
    The gallery is here: http://www.emmarichards.co.uk/gallery.html
When you click on one of the photos, it is not working properly, it just takes you to another webpage with just the image. It worked fine in the live view. I'm looking at it in IE, not sure which version but a fairly up to date one I think. I've also checked it using the Mozilla browser and having the same problem. How can I rectify this please? The pages code is as follows:

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.

Do I need to have the same path as in my root folder, so for example within my Public folder with my host, have a 'script's folder and then put the 'jquery.js' file within that or should that not matter?
All paths (the route from the parent file to the dependent file) are crucial.
If the path is not correct, the required file will not be found and the effect will not work.
There's no need to upload files individually and manually place them into remote folders. DW handles all file and folder paths for you if you use the Files panel.
For example, http://www.emmarichards.co.uk/scripts/lightbox.js = 404 error. The file still does not exist on the server in that location.
You should be able to click on the css and scripts folders locally, click Put and all files in those folders will be uploaded correctly.

  • LightBox Gallery Widget

    Hi there,
I'm working on a website with some pictures on it. I've used the LightBox Gallery Widget for that.
In the liveview it works fine, but once I've try it at my webspace, the LightBox doesn't open and I get to another url.
You can find the website here: http://www.bokal.be/TEST1234/Foto-albumkopie.html
    Thanks in advance!

What's happening when you click on a thumbnail is that the Lightbox doesn't kick in so the browser merely opens the fullsize image in another browser tab.
That's because it cannot find the Lightbox files on the server to activate the Lightbox effect.
http://www.bokal.be/TEST1234/scripts/lightbox.js does not exist on the server at the location that the code is pointing to.
Have you uploaded the "scripts" folder to your server?

  • Lightbox Gallery Widget for Mobile Site

A few questions regarding Lightbox Gallery Widget...
Is there a trick to getting a lightbox gallery inside of each Spry Tabbed Panels 2 tab?
Is there a way to scale down the enlarged photos 50% with css for iPhone retina display (as can be done with Spry Content Slideshow)?
Is there a way to show (make visible) the Prev/Next buttons on the enlarged images for touch screen? I've moved them outside of the image area, but the hover state doesn't seem to be editable with CSS.
    Thanks,
    Steve

1, There is no trick, just make sure that each unique constructor is within each each tab.
2 and 3 The widget is third party and as such you will need to obtain the information elsewhere like here http://leandrovieira.com/projects/jquery/lightbox/

I wanted to check the following, but the URL is not found, you have another one?

        4. Visit http://my-site.com/scripts/form_check.php in a web browser and make sure you see all green checkmarks. If some items do not display green checkmarks that means that the hosting server is not configured correctly to allow the Form widgets to send email messages to the address you've specified.
Contact your web-hosting provider about the server configuration problem. Describe the items that are not marked as green in the form check page, so that they can help you set up the servers to use the correct settings.

  • When importing photos with iBooks Gallery widget, is anyone aware of a technique for simultaneously importing the photo's description (or jpeg file name) and writing it into the iBook Author caption field for the imported photo?

When importing photos with the iBooks Author Gallery widget, is anyone aware of a technique for simultaneously importing the photo's description (or jpeg file name) and writing it into the iBook Author caption field for the corresponding imported photo? I have 4,800 stills to import and can't imagine it's necessary to copy and paste the description for each.

As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.
