Why my Character Pallet in Utilities always blink and disappear? I cannot add special characters. It's very annoying. Could anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Try turning on all desired toolbars under View/Toolbars. I noticed in FM12 that the palettes are displayed depending on the function you're using (e.g., Manage Graphics, Authoring, etc.) - top right of the screen. I have all my editing toolbars turned on, then leave the mode to Manage Graphics. Everything stays and I don't have to continually re-open. Hope that helps.

i ran into a simuler problem using firefox 4 with win 7. browser would not display web address and when you open the browser it would display a blank page. also back, forward, and refresh button's where grayed out and could not click hem.
after checking plugins i was able to get it working with disableing java deployment toolkit.

"Copy" just blinks and disappears

Hi. I'm new to Adobe Digital Editions, so please forgive me if this has been asked and answered before.
Today I downloaded and installed Version 1.72.1131. I then visited the sample ebook library and downloaded some public domain books, one of which was Alice in Wonderland. The file that was downloaded is named "aliceDynamic.epub".
Digital Editions opens this file just fine. According to the Iten Info, the rights set by the publisher allow Viewing, Copying and Printing on any device.
I have not tried printing it, but I did try "Copy". And when I do, the box just blinks and disappears. I've been unable to figure out a way to make a copy.
Can anyone help? Thank you.

I am not aware that a Group has any Specific size limit.
At one time AIM limited the size of the whole Buddy List to 200 Buddies.
This was moved at least once to 250 Buddies and may actually be more than that (I have not bumped in to it for a while but only have 174 Buddies at present).
There are reports of people finding they:
1) Can not see Buddies On-line they know are.
2) Can not add new Buddies.
3) Can not see the Buddy List with any Buddies in it.
4) Can get the Buddy list to appear and have no access to the Preferences.
These similar problems seem to follow being kicked off AIM login and iChat trying multiple times until a Error message about too many attempts pops up.What then seems to happen is an incomplete Login at a later stage resulting in the above symptoms.
There seem to be different levels of "cure" that work for different people depending which symptom they have.
1 through 3 seem to be sorted with deleting com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist
Sometimes at 3 com.apple.iChatAgent.plist also has to be deleted.
Both these files are in Users/(your account)/Library/Preferences.
iChat needs restarting after each deletion.
4) is a bit more involved as Quitting iChat does not Quit iChatAgent that runs in the Background. For this you have to use Activity Monitor (In Applications/Utilities and use the Quit button on iChatAgent and confirm a Force Quit then delete the two files above.
I did ask about the address Book as you can not add a Buddy to iChat with adding a real name if that name is already in the Address Book.
In iChat 3 and earlier you used to get a clear "Feedbag" error message but this does not seem to happen in iChat 4.
Feedbag error were also reported on a full Buddy list although the numbers were different for each.
This was why I asked the two questions.

Preloader Blinks and Disappears?

Hi,
I have a preloader image that I've included in the Publish settings area. After publishing the project, the preloader image briefly blinks, disappears, and then displays the default gray color with a play button instead of the preloader image.
Does anyone know why and how I can fix this?

FillOval blinks and disappears when I compile and run JApplet

     }When I run the JApplet the oval blinks and disappears. I have tried repaint but this makes the whole container white and the oval can be seen then. I have used JPanels on BorderLayout NORTH, SOUTH and WEST all with an orange background colour. It's as though the oval goes behind the content pane.

I restarted the mac recently today after school, and it suddenly booted up onto "OS X Utilities" insted of to my regular hard drive. I just want to get on my account again without restoring or reinstalling the operating system. Why is this happening? I don't want to lose any current information/files either... how do you fix this?

Once it boots normally open System Preferences - Startup Disk and check to see if your internal HD is selected.

thanks a lot for your reply. It actually helped me: I turned on and filled in "5GHz Network name", gave the 5GHz network another name and forced the iMac to connect to this network. It wasn't actually that seamless, because for some reason the 5GHz network appears much later in the site survey than the 2.4GHz one, and when I first tried it and didn't see the 5GHz network in the list, I typed the network name manually. This way I verified that the 5GHz network at least works.
The fact that the iMac connects to the stronger signal is interesting, I would expect kind of a more intelligent behaviour from one Apple device talking to another Apple device, but never mind. Yet one more thing: now I can see that the 5GHz connected iMac has Signal -57 and Noise -96. Doesn't this mean that this network has better signal-to-noise ratio than the 2.4 GHz network (which has -69 and -96 respectivelly)? So why does iMac choose the more noisy network anyway?

Why does my Flash Drive always blink?

I may be paranoid, but it seems only lately that my flash drive is always blinking when I have it plugged into one of my ports of my four port Belkin that I have plugged into the rear port of my Mac. It's like it is constantly being accessed even when I close out the spread sheet (numbers) files that I was using and even when I close out the main list of directories on the drive. It still blinks. Then when I try to eject it, a message pops up that it won't eject because it is used by numbers. So in frustration and paranoia I just pull the flash drive out of the socket, since I suspect that something in my computer out of my control is reading it. I close out the files and directories by clicking on the red close dots in the upper left. Am I doing the closing wrong?

Pressing the red button at the top left hand corner of the application window will not completely quit the application, therefore the application is still accessing your flash drive without you even using that application. If you go to the apple logo at the top left hand corner of the desktop and go to force quit, you will see applications that are currently running in the background on your mac. Now, if you have "numbers" opened, go to application folder in Finder, click on numbers and go to the top left corner of the Status bar at the top. You will see "Numbers" next to the Apple Logo, click on that and press quit. Utilize this method for all applications.

Font not displaying/loading correctly in Character Pallet

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and Creative Suite CS5, Adobe Illustrator CS 15.1.0. I'm using Suitcase Fusion 4 ver. 15.0.5 (latest version).
I'm having a problem with 2 of my fonts loading correctly in illustrator's Character pallet. They display like a missing fonts in the character pallet as shown in my screen shot with "less than" characters around them: < Carta >, , < ITC Zapf Dingbats >
These fonts and files do not give me warnings for missing fonts. The files print and rip correctly. The font displays correctly in illustrator when I use them in a layout (as shown on pic). They also display correctly and are fine in all other applications: Quark, InDesign, Photoshop etc. My fonts are setup correctly, pared down system fonts, other user folders emtpy etc. I have font nuked with Suitcase, Font Nuke and did a safe start up to clear font caches. several times. I've also removed these fonts from suitcase and loaded them in my system folder to see if that fixed it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. These fonts are used 1,000's of pages/files so replacing them with another verion isn't really an option.

They are probably a very old Type 1 font. Try checking the dates on the font files. Your best bet would be to get the OpenType versions of those fonts and install them.

Hi DGuerra, based on a past thread, the missing comments may be related to using avast! and its browser add-on(s).
Firefox is so easy to customize that it's not really surprising to find differences between two systems. These can relate to the menu choices (orange Firefox button or classic menu bar), toolbar layouts, and of course, add-ons.
If you have a preference for one setup versus another, hopefully these articles can equalize some of those layout issues:

You can compare extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
Perhaps you can get the two side-by-side to make it easier, or to extract a text list, you can use the troubleshooting information page. Either:
* Help > Troubleshooting Information
* type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
The button in the upper left corner "Copy text to clipboard" will grab the configuration information from entire page.

Apple wireless keyboard, no battery logo always blinking

Hello,
I just got my battery changed for my apple wireless keyboard. Even if i replace the battery again, the issue start again.
The not battery logo is always blinking every 5 seconds which is terribly disturbing.
What could be the issue about it ?

I don't know about the Wireless Keyboard, but Apple's Magic Trackpad (MT) is amazingly inaccurate in telling the computer how much power is left. I have a mid 2010 iMac (27", 3.6 GHz i5, 10.10.1). About a week ago, my the iMac reported that the MT had a low battery. Usually, I tend to change the battery when this happens. This time, I decided to just keep on going. Well, it's been more than a week now, and the MT is working fine. The battery charge has been gradually dropping (sort of), and now reads 8%. One day it even went to 40%, but then it dropped back to 9. I don't think this has anything to do with Yosemite, since I had been noticing that the battery life on my MT seemed awfully short, lasting less than 2 weeks on Apple's rechargeable batteries. This has been the case from 10.6 through 10.10.

How to use the special character pallet in Mavericks with Illustrator - I follow the help instructions, but the pasted in object looks like a rectangle with an X, I have done this before, in earlier versions of AI, but cannot make it work in CS6.
In fact, I can open an old AI file (CS4), copy the character (a graphic symbol, also taken from the special character set), paste it in, and it works, but can't do this with a new one, from the drop down, Show Character Viewer, in the Mavericks menu bar.

The box with an X indicates the font you are using does not have the glyph you are trying to paste. Try a different font.

actually i found out how to fix it
1 sign out of apple account
2 close down passbook app
3 change year to 2013
4 reopen passbook and sign in at the button with your apple ID
5 change the time to auto update and it should work from now on.
