Wifi is connected but won't work
I have an iphone 4. I recently got internet back up at my home using an older wireless router. At first my wifi worked, but then we tried to hook up a older imac osx computer to the same router. After this my wifi just stopped working. I've disconnected my cable modem and also the wireless router, and reset my network settings on my iphone. It still does not work. I know there is a problem if my ip address on my iphone starts with 169 BUT, my ip address nor the subnet mask, router or DNS shows information to know if i have this problem.
Overall, my iphone picks up the wireless, has a check next to the network, but the wifi signal on my homescreen doesn't display even though i have the check. It just still has the "E"
please help!I was trying to update the firmware, but when i tried to download it from the linksys website it downloads but my computer doesn't recognize what to open the file up with. Does it matter if i'm trying to update the firmware if i'm not using the original computer that i've first hooked the router up to?

Hey sergioo9,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are having trouble signing into Messages on OSX. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

Why is face time not connecting for the last two days
Why is Face Time not connecting for the last two days
Judging by all the posts on the forum, there seems to be an issue at Apple's end, although they have made no announcement on their status page. Some users have reported that Apple is aware of the issue. You can leave feedback for Apple at the link below.

Why is face time not connecting to India
Face time is not connecting to India for the past 5 days. What could be the reason?
If you'd searched the forum first, as instructed to do before posting a question, you'd have seen that multiple users have reported a problem with Facetime, and that Apple is working to fix it.

I 've had the newest iPad for about one week. Just started using face time..why does face time camera take pixelated pictures? The iSight camera pictures look fine.
Kathleenfromks wrote: ...why does face time camera take pixelated pictures? ...
Because something is wrong.
You will need to troubleshoot to find out what needs to be fixed.
One of these suggestions may resolve your trouble.
FaceTime (and other video) quality problems can be caused by problems at either end of the connection. Unless your video callers' FaceTime connections work properly with everyone else but you, both parities to the video call should consider these possibilities.
(1) Restart your iPad and test again. Sometimes a simple restart fixes things.
(2) Use a fast broadband internet connection for best possible FaceTime video.
Broadband speed matters at BOTH ends, so you use something like http://speedtest.net/ to test both ends of your video connections.
Speeds less than 300 Kbps (up and down) at both ends are unlikely to give best results.
(3) Try from a different wi-fi connection.
If the problem is ONLY at your current location, restarting your internet connection may help. Shut down your iPad or turn Airplane Mode "on". Then check your cable connections, restart your modem and wireless access point, reconnect iPad to the wi-fi, and test again.
If the problem remains but ONLY at your current location, there may be a problem with your internet service. Contact your ISP for help.
(4) Always use as much light as possible for best images (including video) from your iPad.

Why on face time does the screen go green
why on face time does the screen go green
It's something to do with your internet connection. Try using FaceTime from a different location and this should work fine.

Hey Sarasadid,
There are a few recommended troubleshooting steps within the following article that I'd go through to see if that helps:

Face time will not connect when calling on macbook pro
my face time will not connect to ppl when calling or when accepting a call
what can I do to fix this
my internet connection is goodHello e2011,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPhone. If your iPhone isn't being recognized in iTunes on your MacBook Pro, you may find the info and troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

Why does Face Time keep disconnecting during calls? The screen freezes after just a few seconds on Face Time and disconnects.
Close All Open Apps... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset (No Data will be Lost)
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

HT4245 face time does not connect when receiving or dialing out
face time does not connect when receiving or dialing out
It finally seems to work (2nd day now and counting)...
I tried the following with no luck:
upgrading to iOS 5
adding an associated e-mail and calling that associated e-mail
do a full-scale registration of the e-mail (and making a free purchase via itunes) instead of a 'facetime only' registration
this combo however seems to have done the trick:
keeping the ipad2 plugged in
changing the dns on the ipad to "8.8.4.4,8.8.8.8"
If it continues to work for a few more days, then i think i can say the the problem is finally resolved. -
I cannot sign my password on Face Time on my iphone4 but can use my password in the apple store
Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
I updated my iphone 5 to ios 6.0.2. my wifi says its connected but doesn't work now. It doesn't matter what wifi network I connect to. It worked before updating my phone. I can no longer use facetime or use wifi at all. I'm not sure what to do to fix it.
I'm having similar issues with my phone. I got my first iPhone recently, only had an iPod touch gen4 for a little over a year. Updated to 6.0.2 when we got the phone (iPhone 5) a few days before Christmas. When I got home on the evening of January 11, my phone would not connect the router anymore. I was able to get it to connect after resetting the phone and the router, updating the router, and manually connecting. That laste for a few minutes and then wouldn't work anymore. I live in an area with very limited service, we have a network extender installed to help, and I am barely getting a 3G signal at times.
My wife's iPad 4, my touchiPod 4, and all of our laptops are working just fine on the router. When I dropped my kid off at school today, I noticed that I am not even seeing the school network anymore from the parking lot where before I got 3 or 4 bars and could connect to their wifi when I was there. Today my phone goes back and forth between seeing my home network but not connecting, to not even seeing the network at all even from the same room that the router is in.
Hope Apple fixes this problem soon.............. -
ODBC connects, but won't select - 64bit Linux and 64 bit Oracle instant client 10.2.0.1.0, full install (all files but basiclite).
ODBC can connect to an Oracle database, but cannot describe or select.
sqlplus can connect and select.
Also, ODBC can connect and select using a mysql database.
At end is ODBC trace log, odbcinst.ini and odbc.ini
Using the isql utility from unixODBC version 2.2.10, I get the following

A 64bit full client(10.1.0.3.0) is installed in /usr/share/oracle/OraHome_1, where the tnsnames.ora file is located (in network/admin)
The 64 bit instant client is installed in /usr/lib64/instantclient_10_2, pointed to by soft-link /usr/lib64/oracle
I also have a 32bit instant client, which is needed by OpenOffice
From a shell with unset ORACLE_HOME, and with no Oracle lib in the ld.config path, all 3 versions are able to connect, and describe dual and select (*) from dual;
