  • Firefox can't access a specific web site. WHY?

"I have already posted that in 10.4 Forum but the problem is in Leopard"
At home and office I can't access a specific web site with Firefox.
I have tried everything I was able to: cleared cache, deleted cookies, deleted firefox prefs, flushed DNS, tried to log with IP instead of domain, created a new user account in Mac OS, repaired permissions, but nothing happens!
The strange thing is I can access the web site trough a proxy. And I don't have a firewall or similar, my Mac is conected directly to the web. And the problem is the same in any browser I use, like Safari or Firefox or Camino.
Anyone has any idea about what is causing my problem?
Just in case, the site is demonoid.com.
PS: Thanks BDAqua to all support on the other thread.

I feel like a dork. Maybe next time I'll read the post better.
Okay, I went to that site and it works fine for me.

  • I deleted my profile (the whole thing!)--can't access Profile Mgr. It is not missing or there to be recovered. Uninstall/reinstall nor terminal commands help.

I deleted my profile. I've tried online things such as a)restarting computer b)deleting and reinstalling Firefox c)entering in command at Terminal : /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -profilemanager and even dropping off "- bin" as also suggested. There is not profile and no profile manager. I got into this mess as Firefox had continued to open up window after window and locking up so I could not even get to Preferences without windows burying it and computer locking. After inadvertently deleting my whole profile, I now install Firefox and it doesn't open saying that Firefox is currently open.
These were the links I checked out among a few others that said the same thing:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager#Mac_OS_X
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_7-reinstall-firefox

Can you open [http://osxdaily.com/2010/08/15/mac-task-manager/ Activity Monitor] and look any firefox processes or plugin-manager processes and force quit them all? You said Firefox doesn't open because there's a message saying that Firefox is currently open.
The main reason for that would be if a firefox process has been stuck in memory this entire time. Although I don't know how a running firefox process would survive a computer restart. So I'm stumped there. The parent.lock file is another file responsible for the "Firefox is currently open" message, you could try searching for it & erasing that as well.
The very last thing we could try is installing Firefox Portable. In most crazy cases like this, that gets Firefox up and running.
But it's stuck at Firefox version 4.0.1 which is super old.
    <br> Link: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/20395/portable-firefox
But I think you can use the update feature with Firefox 4.0.1 to upgrade to Firefox 12 within the portable application. Going to '''Help > About Firefox''' should auto check for a update and download it to Firefox Portable.

  • Firefox will not access the internet, internet connection is ok, safari accesses it

Address bar will not accept address. Google window will not search, either. Safari is working, Firefox and Chrome are not.

When did this start? Which version of Firefox?
For reference, Firefox 23.0 was released on Tuesday, August 6th, and Firefox 23.0.1 was just released on Friday, August 16th.
Does the address bar work normally in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
If Firefox is running, you can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
If Firefox is not running, hold the Shift key when starting Firefox to get the Safe Mode dialog.
    Any difference?

  • When wireless connection lost during surfing, firefox will not access the internet after connection is restored.

While surfing the net on my laptop (windows vista home premium, all updates current), if the wireless internet connection is lost while a page is loading, firefox will NOT connect to any websites at all when the connection is restored. Also, if I try to shut down firefox, it will appear to close, but if I try to re-start it again, it will tell me "firefox is already running", even though it's not. I try to go to windows file manager and shut down firefox.exe manually, but even with that it will not shut down, it's like it's stuck in some sort of "loop". The only way to recocile it is to completely re-boot the system, which takes forever, because firefox.exe doesn't want to shut down even in re-boot.

No it does not work, uninstalled both McAfee and Firefox and only reinstalled Firefox alone, still did not work. I have now both reinstalled and am still unable to connect

No proxies, AV, firewalls or anything. The internet cable is pluged into this Mac.
The problem began 2 weeks ago. When I loaded the page the browser shows status done at the bottom of the window, and at the address bar I see the icon of the web site nd the address but nothing is shown. The source code for that page also is in blank.
I am now using firefox 3 and still have the problem. Safari is up to date with no enhancers. I uninstall all extensions from Firefox also.
    Hard to believe, hum?

  • Firefox 4 won't open because it says it is not supported by the current architecture. Now I cannot use Firefox at all.

I followed the advice and instructions to download Firefox 4 and once I moved it to the applications folder, a slash went through the icon and now it tells me that I cannot open Firefox because it is not supported by the architecture. Don't know what to do next.

I suspect you need more expert help but here are a few things you can try.
If you can't open Firefox(double click on Firefox desktop icon) try Safe Mode - Hold down the Shift Key as you double click on the icon>don't check anything on the page that opens>continue. If Firefox opens and works in this safe mode go to Add-ons> Extensions and look for "Ask". Then look at Add-ons >Plug-ins and again look for "Ask" . Remove, delete, disable any Asks. If you do remove any, close Firefox. And try again in Normal Mode.
The Ask website has detailed instructions for removal but you need to find it on your computer and have your computer in working order.
If there is no sign of Ask and Firefox is working well in Safe Mode you should work your way through this -
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20extensions%20and%20themes
Eventually you might need to grapple with About:Config and even your Windows Registry but I would recommend a complete uninstall and re-install before that. Unfortunately that often doesn't work.
That all sounds very daunting but taken step-by-step you might get lucky early.

  • I can't tell if I have Mozilla 5 or Firefox 3.6. But it always says it is in SafeMode. How do I get out of safe mode?

There are no more details. Firefox is listed as being in Safe Mode and everytime it opens I have to request that it either open in Safe Mode or choose the settings I want and then start up Firefox, but it never retains the new settings and goes back to Safe Mode.

*A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
It is possible that you clicked "Block Images" in the right click context menu while trying to save an image.

  • Reset firefox. can't access gmail. works in safari. annoying.

I reset firefox on my Macbook. Now I can not log into gmail, blogger or you tube account. It won't recognize my gmail password either.
    Everything works fine in Safari.
Installed Opera. won't work there either. Firefox 33.1.1 version.
Is there a way to change it back. Also older version of Firefox continually gave me spinning wheel. Was continually having to force quit even with emptying cache and restarting Macbook.

    Here's a guess:
Have you noticed any security certificate related issues after your reset? If your security software filters your web traffic, you usually need to set up Firefox to trust your security software again after a reset. There could be a similar issue with a new installation of Opera, but I am less familiar with it.

  • After updating IE7, Firefox 3.6 no longer store history--back button in Firefox can't access previous pages.

Yesterday a security update for IE7 was automatically downloaded into my computer. Now the history feature of Firefox is working poorly. Often it doesn't save previous pages for the back button to access during an online session. The few times I've been able to navigate back to a Google search page, the search terms I've used previously are absent. However most often today, the browser doesn't even acknowledge that there were previous pages and the back button remains grayed out.

I got an email saying that Cor-el had posted a reply to my question. I don't see it on this page. Was it deleted?

  • Completely broken in Ubuntu: can't access profile

    I have a freshly installed Ubuntu 13.04 64bit.
It came with Firefox 20 which was working fine, but was not the latest version.
I ran "sudo apt-get install firefox" and it updated firefox to version 24.
Now Firefox is broken and won't load. It systematically gives the error "Your firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or unaccessible".
Apparently this is known since may:
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1181807
I can't believe such a huge bug is still unfixed after months.
    What's the workaround?
How do I fix it and get it to work?
By the way, on my older computer with Ubuntu 13.04 32bit, I had Firefox 24 and it was working just fine.

The profile manager doesn't run either. It issues the same error:
"Your firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or unaccessible".
Something definetly IS broken if a profile gets corrupted by merely updating firefox. (especially considering the profile was almost untouched: I had only run firefox a couple of times)
Additionally, the profile manager is almost useless, if it becomes unusable just because one profile is corrupted (even if there was a legitimate reason for the profile being corrupted in the first place).
    Ouch!!!
Now I HAVE deleted prifiles.ini (fortunately there was nothing important in my profile, as it was a fresh new unused profile, so wiping it out would not be a problem in this case), but it STILL doesn't work.

  • Firefox does not trust Google or Gmail

Firefox will not access Google or Gmail or even the bits of Mozilla needed for some support functions.
The issue seems to be an unrecognised certificate, tho' Internet Explorer has no problems with the same certificate from these sites.
I have read the various answers to similar questions, which talk about trying to get certificates from other sources etc, but....where? how? Sorry, but it makes no sense to me :-)
If Firefox can't even access Mozilla correctly, what hope is there for the rest of us????

Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details to expand this section.<br>If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate.
