What happens when you try to do the IAP, are you getting any error messages ?

If you've forgotten your answers to your security questions then you can get them reset : If you forgot the answers to your Apple ID security questions
If you have a credit card on your account then its details have to complete - and asking for their details is also a way of checking that you have a valid billing address in that country. As long as you are buying content for yourself and not trying to gift content (you can't use your balance for gifting) then the purchase price (plus any applicable taxes) should be deducted from your balance. Itunes gift card also not activated properly here code 5301

Bought itunes gift cards on black friday...went to redeem them, got code 5301, not activated properly on all the cards. But have all the activation receipts. Waited 24 hours just like the store and receipt said. Till this day still not activated. E-mailed itunes support twice. Responses taking forever to get. Even gave them scans of cards and receipts. Anyone else having or had any luck with this?

So if I want to buy an non-music app I need to buy an iTunes gift card?

I bought gift cards for myself and my family so we could download apps onto our iPads. The gift cards had the the little triangle emblem just like the App Store icon on our iPads.
But nowhere on the iPad App Store is there a method to redeem the gift cards. Phone Support just told me that I have purchased the wrong gift cards and that they are non-transferable.
So if I want to buy an iWork app, I must purchase an iTunes gift card? But I don't want to download music and I don't select the app from iTunes...I select it from the App Store
And if I buy the gift card with the App Store triangle emblem then that card is only good at the online retail store and not for apps?
It seems somewhat absurd to have 3 virtual storefronts (App, Online Retail, iTunes) that cannot take each others gift cards. Why can't Apple be as easy as Amazon? One gift card works everywhere.
Is there any way to use our gift cards to download for-pay apps? Or should I recover my money by disputing the purchase with my credit card company?

I took my iPad, my case #, my iPhone, and a printout of this thread to my local Apple store. What ultimately worked was to redeem the online store gift card through my iPhone Passbook and use the money to buy an iTunes gift card. Then I redeemed the iTunes gift card.
Not sure this will work with the gift cards I gave as presents and, if I lacked an iPhone (like my mother lacks) then I would have been S.O.L. Apparently the emailed online store gift cards are incompatible (no GCA code). Something for Apple to fix. Not having Passbook on iPad is another thing.

So I recently bought a 2Gen iTouch and wanted to buy some apps. I bought a iTunes gift card. I set up a iTunes account and went through all the proccess's and redeemed my gift card. It said successful and promted me with my account balance. I tried buying a app and was promted with enter credit card information. I don't have one. But i read the forums and found out that i cannot buy applications in canada, only music and videos.
So now i have non-refundable money on my account with the sole purpose of getting applications. Now my question is that if i get a Pre-paid credit card from anywhere will it work? or does it have to be an actual Master card/Visa?

I had credit from an itunes gift card but not enough to cover the album I wanted so I paid with credit card. When I deleted my credit cards details later my itunes gift card remaining balance dissapeared too, firstly from my ipod then later it vanished from the computer too. I tried to reenter the itunes gift card code but it said it has already been redeemed.

Yes, it will, unless you make a purchase which can't be done with a gift card, in which case the balance will remain and the entire purchase be charged to the credit card.

Did you have a credit card entered at one time?
If it expired, you need to remove it.
Review your billing info and select None for payment info.

What are you doing with your account (creating it, buying something, ...) and what are you seeing on the screen e.g. are you getting any error message ? The iTunes gift card field is optional - and as iTunes gift cards are not available in all countries, and they are country-specific (they can only be redeemed and used in their country of issue), you may not be able to fill it in anyway.
