Why my macbook pro's screen always looks like freezing and slow?
I think it's because of one of my app. It may cause the trouble. I just went to ask genius bar for help today and they reset my system. It was fine after that but since I restore the backup, the stupid problem came again and it's driving me crazy. All the hardware should be great and the software is the latest. Somebody help me please. I just had it for no more than half year.

MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2011) Yosemite Freezing and Slow
Problems all of a sudden with a flawless MBP. I am getting hard Kernal Panic restarts using mail, safari, text edit (all up to date) in yosemite. Auto-Correct typing is so slow it is actually pausing for seconds at a time before catching up. (Even while writing this)
This MBP is loaded with a Samsung Professional EVO, 16GB RAM, and has never had a problem before today. Some of the KP's reference CPU -
love the features, not too stoked with this new 'workflow.'
Anyone else? Thoughts? Wait for Rev. .01?Eric, I know this thread is ages old but I was wondering if you had any luck resolving your issues. I am looking at upgrading from Mavericks and I also have a late 2011 17". I'm irritated that Apple isn't going to backport the patch for Rootpipe and Yosemite has gotten quite mixed reviews. If you have any insights or tips about installing I'd be most appreciative.

your 13-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro requires 1066 MHz RAM, but you have 1333 MHz RAM installed. Try replacing the 1333 MHz RAM with 1066 MHz RAM — Macs can be picky about the RAM which they find acceptable. -
Why does macbook pro heats up around the left side and CD spines wildly?
I am experience heat from under the body of the computer on the left side. And also when the CD is in the drive, it runs really fast and loud. Does anyone have any reasoning for these concerns of mine? Mainly I am concerned about the over heating of the computer near the left side.
Hi,
I set my MBP up by transferring everything from my iMac (also an Intel Core Duo model). One piece of shareware, Net Monitor, didn't like something (partly, perhaps, the fact that it detected a single license key shared by two computers on the same network) and though it told me about this (duplicate license key) and allowed me to go on using it in demo mode, it ended up soaking up CPU. I didn't notice this right away, but I had the MacBook on my lap (and was wearing shorts) and after a while, the bottom got very hot. Then I noticed the CPU was pegged. Using the Apple "Activity Monitor" I was able to see which process was the culprit and kill it.
Anyway, a single run-away process like this can use up a lot of CPU and hence a lot of battery power. Use the Activity Monitor to check for such a process. There's a nice feature in Activity monitor, a floating CPU utilization bar. I keep it showing down in the lower right corner so I can notice if something like this happens again.

MacBook Pro Hard drive is making weird noises and slow
its important that you understand what has led to these issues. I first was witing an essay on my MacBook. Whole thing dies, screen freezes and entire thing crashes. i have no choice but to force it off by holding the power button... Then the fun begins. I log in and it gives me a circle with a slash basically telling me no you can't use your computer.. Ok.... Let me just get apple support on chat... after 3 painful hours, they even had no idea what was happening... I erased my hard drive after 4 repairs and verifies.. looked fine sure... Redownload os x 10.10 bam, the issues begin, first you hear a weird high pitched noise that varies from just heard by me to my entire household... Lovely Sure makes doing college work harder in the morning as my roommate can hear it and he's under 40 blankets. Next the slowness, niw when I mean slow I mean every 5 seconds I get the pinwheel because it can't multitask correctly. I mean wow I can't even go to the apple in the top corner without it attempting to "load" the menu. even just on pages (which was a nightmare to download I'll get to that soon) Itll give me the pinwheel after a few words... App Store, broken. I tried to redownload pages iMovie etc. 40 clicks for each because they each showed an error occur.. Some right when I click some when it was downloaded... 1.99 GB and then it tells me it can't install... Then, it's a nightmare to log in because start up take 5 to 30 minutes depending on how ever much this machine wants to infuriate me. It's only 7 months old, there is no excuse for this, and I'm very disappointed, now before I take me and this machine to geek squad located in Best Buy can anyone locate with any knowledge why this thing is behaving so disturbinG. Please excuse the horrible spelling, I had to do this on my iphone and download google chrome because Safari doesn't support apple community When asking questions.
Your storage device is probably faulty. It would be helpful if you indicated the EXACT model/year MBP that you have.
Ciao. -

Macbook pro 13" retina, 10.10.1 freezes and restarts
13" retina macbook pro
2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
10.10.1 (14B25)
Experience:
While performing a simple task... e.g. moving my mouse over to the menu and clicking on File or Edit or Go. The mouse freezes, at this point I can no longer click on anything, move the mouse, use the multi function scratch pad or even use short keys to tab through to other applications.
If I leave the mac alone for maybe 30secs the machine will shut itself down and do a restart. Where I then have to log back into the machine.
Solutions:
I've tried to monitor what application or feature this happens on, and it is difficult to say that it is any particular issue.
Yesterday I was on Safari and just clicking on links on a webpage when it froze and restarted
Today I was opening finder and clicking the 'Go' and the system froze and restarted
Usually when I am on my machine I will have maybe 5-9 applications open at any given time. word, excel, outlook, Skype, safari, chrome, notes, iTunes, wunderlist, notes.
Questions:
how can i better report this issue?
what can I do to prevent it?
is this a known problem?
what is the resolution?hi eric,
interesting I recently (yesterday) updated my version of yoesmite, 10.10.2 and today my mac crashed. it happened at about 12:06 I have the information that I think you need but there are tonnes of it.
there are pages of this statement in the console log:
03/02/2015 12:06:43.000 kernel[0]: BUG in process suhelperd[188]: over-released legacy external boost assertions (1 total, 1 external, 0 legacy-external)
then it says
03/02/2015 12:06:45.068 /usr/sbin/nmnetmgrd[29]: WARNING: The Gestalt selector gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.2 instead of 10.10.2. Use NSProcessInfo's operatingSystemVersion property to get correct system version number.
then i get repeated stuff like this:
Call location:

then there is a vast volume of information from 12:06 to 12:09 when the computer shut itself down. I am happy to send this information if it is important but I sense it is probably just telling the same thing.
Can you help me understand what is happening? -
My macbook pro's screen is a pixelated green and purple. How do I fix this?
It's very annoying and my computer is very new. I know I haven't intentionaly damaged it.
Woke up this morning and this three green "dashes" and three amber "dots" is what my airport express 2nd gen is doing. Wasn't broadcasting wifi.
So far hooked up over ethernet to my laptop and it passes through internet from the modem.
Tried:
Soft reset
Hard reset
Factory Default reset
All of it goes back to the 3 green dashes and 3 amber (yellow) dots. I unlike the original poster didn't apply power to the analog jack.
I will try multiple Factory Default resets and see if this helps.
Also used airport utility 5.6.1 for Windows 7 before the hard/factory resets and it wouldn't accept my well documented router password. Factory reset and now it won't connect.
Get:
An error occurred while trying to access the Apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again.
Error -6742
Only option is "ok" and this happens no mater what you click on for the Airport Express. Funny thing is I bought this one year and three weeks ago. Ha.
Going to try some more hard resets to see if that works. Tried to be detailed and write the text in different ways since I was unable to find this search first even though this is my exact problem I'll try and check back later. -
Macbook Pro 13" Screen went Black - Can only see when plugged into another display! HELP!
My MacBook Pro's screen went black last night and now when it turns on it stays black. I plugged it into my tv through the mini display port and I can see everything fine on the tv but the screen on my laptop is black. Everything else seems to be working fine. Any advice that doesn't involve taking to Genius Bar??? Already tried booting in safe mode, resetting the PRAM and NVRAM. Need to fix this ASAP. Thanks!!
Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

Macbook pro starts up , opens bootcamp into win7, and all mac users except one
I have macbook pro that has always worked like a charm. Yesterday I started it and it opens to screen with choice of users. I clicked on my account and it went through motions and took me back to original screen. I checked and was able to pen all other accounts. I restarted and was able to open in windows as well. Logged in as another user with admin priveliges I created a new admin user. I was able to open locked admin functions with new account and password for account unable to open. I verified HD and permissions. Next thing will be to boot from system disk and repar permissions. Any ideas....Never seen anything like this in 20 years

Why do I have this small white dot on my macbook pro display screen?
I have this white dot on my macbook pro display screen. It doesn't go away. Anybody knows what it is? Any suggestions?
Because the developer needed to create the two versions separately and has chosen to charge for both.

Why will macbook pro not go to sleep with Lion OS?
Why will macbook pro not go to sleep with Lion OS?
Test after each of the following steps that you haven’t already tried:
Step 1
▹ System Preferences ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Power Adapter ▹ Wake for network access: uncheck. You may need to unlock the preference pane by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your administrator password.
Step 2
▹ System Preferences ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Schedule… ▹ Start up or wake: uncheck
Step 3
▹ System Preferences ▹ Print & Scan ▹ Open Print Queue...
Check all printers for unfinished jobs. Deal with any you find.
Step 4
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse or trackball, and monitor, if applicable.
Step 5
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Enter “powerd” (without the quotes) in the "Filter" text field. Select the powerd process and click the Quit Process button in the toobar (stop-sign icon.) In the sheet that opens, click Force Quit. You’ll be prompted for your administrator password. The process will be relaunched immediately.
Step 6
Boot in safe mode and log in. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal. Don’t launch any applications at first. If sleep still doesn’t work properly, back up all data and reinstall the Mac OS. After that, if you still have the issue, make a “Genius” appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
If sleep now works as expected, go on to the next step.
Step 7
Still in safe mode, launch the usual set of applications that are running when you have the problem, including your login items, one at a time, testing after each one. Some applications may not work; skip them. You might be able to identify the cause of the problem this way.
Step 8
If sleep is still working after you’ve launched all the usual applications, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test again. If sleep still works, you’re done, at least for the moment.
If you still have the sleep issue after booting out of safe mode, post again. -
Macbook Pro 13" Screen scratch?
Well, I purchased my 13" Macbook Pro earlier this year, roughly march time, and since, have been very careful with it, with the intent of keeping it for a long time inn pristine condition. A little bit of OCD I guess.
Well, what I've noticed is a scratch, about an inch long at the bottom-middle of the screen. This is pretty frustrating, as I'm very sure that it wasn't due to my carelessness with cleaning the screen, or something of mine rubbing against it. I've read up on online, and I'm not the only one that this has happened to, it's a "design flaw" apparently. Well, it's really unpleasant to look at, and I was wondering if Apple could do anything about this?
Cheers!I understand what you are saying. On the other side, I have had my MBP for 3.5 years - lots of opening and closing and transport - with no such scratching. AFAIK, there is no recommendation from Apple to use such protection.

My macbook pro's screen display has suddenly gone into a strange colour setting where everything appears in a kind of infrared colour palette an I can;t seem to change it back. It's the same for all icon and websites, does anyone know how to restore?
Wow! I think I had this same issue just last night.
I was cleaning my macbook pro retina on the outside. Then I opened it up and was wiping dust off the monitor and I can't pinpoint exactly when, but the colors changed suddenly. It looked super strange, it was like green halo's and it looked worse when looking at it at an angle. Of course I took no pictures!!! I was freaking out that my 2 grand laptop was busted and I somehow removed a protective film or something.
But I digress... The image looked very green and spacey, it was almost a neat effect. After about 5 minutes it started to look a little more digital though. There were straight lines of this halo effect on the edges and top. After about 10 minutes it turned into a predominate issue with the blacks on screen. I could open a web browser and it was unnoticable on a white background. After about 15 minutes, you could only barely see the green cloud effect if you looked at the monitor from an extreme angle. After about 20 minutes, it was completely back to normal, I almost feel paranoid like I see a halo or something strange. But I believe that might be all in my head now.
So yerp, lemme know what you guys figure out. -

Then after a normal start I did the disk utility thing, I could only verify and not repair since it seems to be ok? :
Then I tried the SMC reset according to the link you sent me, not sure if I did it right cause step 4 and 5 under

@Lex: I'm really wondering about those two old applications
1) I didn't find anything useful about camerawindow or canon tools, except that it helps connecting my canon powershot G15 camera with a smartphone... don't even says if it works with my camera model nor if it works with mavericks...
2) ...Silverlight/OutOfBrowser/SLLauncher.app: Is it needed for what? After looking up it just said useful for webbrowsers, maybe better video quality etc. isn't that something good? if I delete it from my library will there e noteable differences when I use the internet?
besides that i deleted and update like u suggested and did a check again:
