Why my pc speed is slow?

now I'm using firefox 3.6 but sometime crash sometime slow down, why?

Plug in ethernet and make sure it works well with ethernet.
After that the issues with wireless are endless and difficult to analyse..
For instance your MBP is probably using 5ghz..
Does the PC wireless card operate at 5ghz? If not you will get substantially lower speed if the 2.4ghz is suffering interference. Set everything up with manual setup.. set specific channel for the 2.4ghz and different wireless name for 5ghz.
There has been several posts with the same problem.. in one case the TC was faulty. In another case it was the PC wireless card having issues.. it is voodoo wifi.. expect to spend many more hours pursuing this.
I do suggest though, you get a decent N wireless usb stick if you are using some older cards.. expect vista to never have a solution as it was a poor management system MS chose and no service pack or update ever fixed it. In the end Apple design for Apple.. if PC works great, if not on a scale of 1-10 how worried do you think Apple are about it?

  • TS1398 Why Wireless Download Speeds so Slow?

My iPad 3, MacBookPro and Apple TV have been suffering with poor connection speeds lately. Connect the MacBook to the Internet using Ethernet and it works fine. Here's the funny thing, when I run speedtest from either device, my download speed is horrible, but the upload speed is normal for my ISP.
I'm suppose to get 10 down and 1 up. This data below is from the speedtest app on the iPad. As you can see, I don't run this app too often. What it does show the horrible numbers.
I've ruled out my ISP. I don't have another wireless router to check against, but before I go out and spend another hundred, I thought I would check if anyone else is experiencing this type of issue. NetGear, my router manufacture claims since the release of iOS 6, user have been experiencing connection issues.
If anyone at least can offer maybe additional tests, router settings, etc., I would greatly appreciate it.

You use 3g wifi with your computer? I don't think so. I'm not saying it isn't possible; I just doubt it's the case since that basically means you have your computer tethered to a cell phone. If that is the case, let me know.
If you're getting the same speed whether you're using wifi or ethernet, it's because your download speeds are bottlenecked at/throttled by your ISP, not your in-home hardware.

  • Why is the download/upload speed so slow on my MBA (about 5 times slower than my PC)?

Why is the download/upload speed so slow on my MBA (about 5 times slower than my PC)?

Are you on band 13 or band 4?  13 is the original LTE band and remains relatively congested. Band 4 is the XLTE band and is less congested and has higher overall potential bandwidth (15 MHz vs 10 MHz). Even so, 7 Mbps is more than enough for doing stuff on your phone and is not considered slow.
    To check band,
    dial *3001#12345#*
    select serving cell info
frequency band will say 13 or 4
FInd an area with band 4 and retest.

  • Why is the write speed so slow to my NAS

Hi, I am trying to improve the write speed from my MBP to the NAS.  I am using the Thunderbolt ethernet adapter connected to an Airport Extreme 7.6.1 using a wired connection. I have a Synology DS213 with a wired connection to the Airport Extreme as well. I am using CAT6 cables.
In testing my performance, I noticed writing files from my MBP to the NAS was very slow; whereas my read performance was much better.  Please see the tests below to explain this further.
Using the Blackmagicdesign Disk Speed Test Utility using a 5Gb test file written to the NAS, I see the following:
Write speed is 7 to 8MB/s  This write speed is what concerns me.
    Read speed is between 60 MB/s and 75 MB/s
Using 2 finder windows (drag a file from one window(MBP) to the other(NAS)) and watch the disk activity on the Activity Monitor with a 1Gb file
When writing a file to the NAS from the MBP:
Write speed will burst to 19 to 23 MB/s but it will drop to below 10 MB/s at times.
When writing a file to the MBP from the NAS
    Write speed is: 46 to 60 MB/s
Why would the write speed from my MBP to the NAS be so slow ; whereas, the write speed from the NAS to the MBP is very fast.
Synology has 2 WB 'green' disks configured as raid 1.   I understand that part of the influence of writing from the NAS to the MBP is utilzing the advantage of writing to a SSD ; whereas, writing to the NAS it is writing to a slower drive.
Is 19 to 23 MB/s burst with dips below 10 MB/s during a copy typical?   The other thing is I dont understand why the Disk Speed Utility never records write speeds to the NAS over 10 MB/s whereas the Activity Monitor will show the bursts at times of 19 to 23 MB/s
If 7 to 8 MB/s write speeds is too slow, what can I look at to improve this?  Since writing the file in the other direction is pretty fast considering, how could the issue be a network one?

I was transferring my iPhoto library from an older MBP to a new retina and having the same issue - transfers almost immediately slowing to less than 100k/sec over my beautiful Time Warner-provided WiFi router using regular OSX folder sharing.  I couldn't find any software updates as some other similar threads suggested.
I put my iPhoto library in a .tar.gz archive and that immediately transfered at about 7mb/sec, much much faster!  So, without having diagnosed the issue, perhaps I've uncovered evidence that one or both of my machines doesn't like transferring big file trees.  I bet a zip or any other archive would do the trick.

  • Why is my internet speed so slow?

Why is my internet speed so slow.  Ohter computers connected to my network are not having this problem.

    Hi,
If you feel that your Internet connection is slow then
1)Try to find If your computer is affected with malicious software or scripts, try to remove them and use a powerful anti virus to scan your system.
2)Clear all the cache files and history of the browsers, this may help in increasing the browsing speed.
3)Avoid using browsers which requires flash and Java scripts. And use the browsers like FireFox and Chrome.By using this browser you can increase the downloading speed ,because this browsers don't use and flash and Java script. After doing this check your internet speed in the site ScanmySpeed.com  which may provides you the exact speed of your connection without using any java or any flash scripts.

Why is my iPhone 5 S WiFi speed 50% slower than my MacBook Air 2012?

    Hello jagimc,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at this article:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

  • Why does our new iMac down load speed so slow (1.99) being right next to router. Our hp laptop 30 ft away ran at 13.50.

Why does our new imac download speed so slow (1.99) being right next to the router? Our HP laptop 30 ft  away is running at (13.50), and our old HP desk top connected to highspeed is at (33.10).

You are surprised that Mac OS X 10.7 is running on hardware that Apple officially supports and says it will run on?  I find your logic unbelievably falwed.
Not a single problem I've mentioned would be caused by "slow" CPU or "little" RAM.  How does iPhoto not bringing up the file dialog box have anything even remotely to do with the speed of the CPU or the quantity of RAM?  If what you say is true, then yes, performance would be bad, but it wouldn't be selectively bad.  I stated that apps such as Reason 5 run perfectly fine, even really well.  I can load 30-50 racks and synths and not even reach 50% of CPU utilization, Reason never freezes, etc.  DVD playback never freezes as well!!  Your logic is horrendously flawed, it seems you don't know much about computer architecture   Thus, unfortunately, your reply was of absolutely no help, sorry.
p.s. the external disk spin up problem freezing up the entire graphical interface also has nothing to do with either my CPU/RAM or the OS version I'm running.  It is a known crippleware factor of Mac OS X that at least a thousand people are complaining about online and Apple has done nothing about!

  • Why is my LTE speed so slow on my iPhone 6.  I've tried multiple locations in Los Angeles and get ~7 meg. download.  A friends iPhone 6 on AT

LTE download and upload speeds are slow on my iPhone 6.  I also tried this on a co-workers iPhone 6 and got the same results, approximately 7 meg download.  A friend with an iPhone 6 on AT&T is getting ~35 meg download.  Is there something wrong with the network.  I've tried this in 5 different areas in Los Angeles.

  • Why is the library so slow to upload to iCloud?

    Hi there,
After a bit of hassle getting Photos to accept all my pictures from iPhoto I thought it was all fixed and ready to go to cloud storage so that I can have the same library on iMac, Macbook Pro and my iPhone.
My photo library isn't that big, about 40Gb (4607 items) but it seems to be taking forever to upload to iCloud.
My broadband speed isn't great (Around 6.5 MBPS download and around 0.7MBPS upload) but after several days my Photo library states that it is uploading 4570 items. When i try to run photos from my macbook there are only a few photos on there.
At this rate I'll probably die of old age before all the photos are in the cloud and bounced back onto my macbook & phone.
Other than slow broadband speed and apple being busy with people like me uploading, are there any other reasons why this is taking so much time? Bad settings anywhere?
As another example my iMac has been on for a couple of hours today and the Activity monitor states that 887.2MB has been sent to the cloud. That's pretty damm slow isn't it?
    Thanks

    Stu Ducklow
Why is my finder so slow to update. For example, if I
download a file (using Safari), I can't find it on
the desktop. If I use Find at the Finder level, it
says it's there, but I can't see it.
Same thing happens with Mail, trying to attach a PDF
I just made. Mail can't see it.
I love all the wondrous glitz of OSX, but wouldn't it
be nice if it could do the basic stuff as well as
System 6? At the rate Apple's going, we'll probably
get a breathless announcement about a spanking-new OS
called Snail, which doesn't do anything but look
    pretty.
    Stu,
Did you ever get an answer to this? My finder is pathetically slow to update, a minor irritation a dozen times a day. System 9 never had this problem. Is there a way to get my expensive computer to do this simple task? Is there any news on this?
    thanks,

  • Why is my iPad so slow using verizon 3g verses wifi

why is my iPad so slow using verizon 3g verses wifi?

My older sister has an iPhone 4S with Verizon, and my iPhone 4S is with AT&T.
At Xmas this past year, I used the same speed test app on her iPhone and on mine to check each carrier's download and upload speed. This was in Dallas where both carriers have good coverage. My download and upload speeds with AT&T blew her iPhone's download/upload speeds with Verizon out of the water. Wasn't even close.

  • Why is my iPod so slow since ios5

Why is my iPod so slow after I updated to ios5.

first turn off iCloud, as much as we all love it, it makes out devices really slow and it tends to make the home screen freeze after unlocking at times. next you want to limit the things in both spotlight, and the apps in your notification center. turning off location services is also a good way to cut down on memory usage and so is removing the weather and stock widget for the notification center.
these things will speed up your device, but the most important to remove out of all of these is iCloud, the others are just more suggestions(:
also remove unwanted apps running in the background by double tapping the button, holding on an app until it goes into toggle mode, and click the red minus button to stop it from taking up memory in the background...
this will 100% speed up your device and get rid of unwanted bugs/glitches(:

  • Why is Safari running so slow under Mountain Lion?

Why is Safari running so slow under Mountain Lion?

I have other mac's on my home network that are still running Snow Leopard and the are performing well. I wanted to use the iCloud so I upgraded and instantly started experiencing the slow down, to the point of ridiculousness. Other function are mixed some normal speed, others a day on the beach with the spinning ball. Firefox is at full speed, good thought, haven't checked Chrome yet.
Last night and hooked into a projection unit that adjusted my screen resolution for a presentation and after the event my Mac reset back to the normal settings and Safari launched and is running normal speeds so far. In the past there have been issues with performance speeds and certain resolutions, has anyone had similar luck or is this a fluke?

yeah cheers, i phoned everyday for a week asking for an ip profile reset, i have an adsl faceplate fitted so no need for master socket stuff, i have disconnected the hub phone, physically and removed it from the router, up stream is always 448 down stream is up and down like an up and down thing, normally hovers around 1000ish but crashes to 160kbps in the mornings or just doesnt sync at all when the phone is in use. after the last fix by bt, downstream sync was a dizzy 2mbps. best i can expect here though is 750kbps or there abouts. ive been trying to get bt to do something lasting for me since last october. so far 2 things worked for me, a fixed rate of 500kbps.. but bt removed it, dunno why. then some change they made that meant my ip profile went down as normal but recovered in an hour or two. thats the fix that gave me the 2mb downstream sync rate. now its back to snafu and proper stuck at 135kbps, the phone is noisy as hell with the bb plugged in but fine without it. if i were a bt techy person, i would soak test the line for a few days, identify that there is a pretty bad problem, then fault find down the line till i found the dodgy stretch of wiring, then replace it, all of it if thats what it took. but im not a bt techy so i just have to put up with this, the forum is my venting place, it doesnt achieve anything but it helps me control the rage that my bt customer experience brings me.

  • Why is Java startup so slow?

Does anyone know why Java startup is so slow? Compared to other interpreted languages like Javascript and Perl, they run much faster. And can someone get technical with me? (But without pointing me to the JVM specification, which I don't understand.) It use to take longer for me to load Mozilla0.9 than a Java applet, but now Mozilla1.3 loads faster than a Java applet.

"Connector" is a rather ill-defined way of describing
it, which is why I chose the word -- to easily deflect
    further inquiries to quantify. ;>
In a slightly more specific way, on start-up JVM needs
to (not necessarily in order, 'cause I don't know the
exact order) at the very minimum:
    1. Allocate memory.
    2. Query OS for a minimal set of needed facilities.
    3. Allocate memory. Allocate allocated memory
(internally, for use by itself and the application).
    4. Map the OS facilities to Java facilities. (This is
    what I meant by "connectors").
    5. Allocate memory. Allocate allocated memory.
    6. Set up the internal control -- security managers,
thread scheduler, gc, classloaders, calling stacks,
    virtual lookup tables, etcetc.
Some of the above don't apply to applets.
Thanks for the tip on 1.4.2beta. I'll give it a try. I
assume you meant startup speed? All this is almost instant you realize. The real time it takes to start your program is that it takes much longer for Java classes to be loaded.
The startup time is proportional to the number of classes you need to load to get your program running. If you only are writing a simple, console based java program the startup time will be much less then if you load a Swing application. Swing by itself is a huge number of classes, and then you have to load your classes. So it can take awhile.
All the things you mention, every program has to do and the code that the JVM uses must be written in C or some other systems language.
One reason at least on my machine that java startup is slow is that I have a slow hard drive. On my home machine, java is much faster around twice as fast to startup, but the processor and ram are not twice as good. I think that it's because the hard drive is faster. Because most of the time it's waiting for data from the disk and the Java enviroment has the disadvantage that it's very large on disk.
