Why my Zen micro doesn't wo

I have one question.
When I want put in my zen micro, he doesn't react.
I suppose, that LOCK/On switcher is spoilt.
I can't put in Recovery Mode - as I wrote, I can't put in.
I am sure that electronics works well, because when I connect him with computer he works well (anything - transfering files and playing music).
Could someone help me?
Please.
Wojtek

For the record, I too have a Zen Micro 5GB where the switch no longer powers it on and off. Have to kick it into action with the USB cable and leave it to shut down on idle. The lock side of the switch still works. The switch "feel" has not changed.
The unit was first used in early December 2005 and died in less than three months. During that time it had very little use - power cycled less than 50 times, I'd guess.
Replacing it is complicated because it was a competition prize. "Easy come, easy go".
Pity - it was more useful to this 'silver surfer" than I thought it would be. Must try switch cleaner and then the can opener technique.

• My Zen Micro doesn't work

I'm really upset with my new Zen Micro. I've just bought a week and it doesn't work anymore. I was listening a song and it just stop to work. I've take off the battery and put it again. Now, my player get started but it remains only with the logo and doesn't reply any command, even when I start in the Recovery Window.
Note: When I plug the USB cable on the player, my computer didn't identified it.
<I need a hand now!
Thanx

As per the FAQ, if the player won't startup in rescue mode, or the functions in rescue mode won't work, the player is unfortunately faulty. You need to return it where you bought it, or contact Creative Support.

• Ideas why my Zen Micro slowly stops playing each ti

Hi,? once fully charged?my Zen Micro now operates for approx. 0minutes only. It's operation time has been decreasing slowly over the last 6mths from 30min to?the now 0min. If I touch any buttons, except volume,?while it's playing during those 0minutes (eg, FF, reverse, anything..) it freezes and then shuts down once the battery drains.
I purchased it new and this started happening after approx. year of use - so I think it's too soon to be a battery problem. All ideas, suggestion are welcome. thanks very much! Tara

It could be the battery going.
All LiON batteries start to deteriorate as soon as they leave the factory.
If the battery was in stock for a long time before going into your .mp3 player, it may have already lost some of its life.
The way you use it has a big effect on lifespan too. If you run it flat every time before recharging, it won't last as long as when you keep it 'topped up' most of the time with only occasionally letting it run down.
The original battery in my 2 year old Zen Micro is good for about 4 hours now and it's near the end of its life. Good thing I have a spare that is good for 0 hours!

• ZEN MICRO doesn`t charge. Need help fa

Hi
Just went to a trip for 8 weeks with my lovely mp3 player.
I haven`t been able to charge it for some reason.
When I plug in the cord the player lights up and instead of
a flashing "battery bars" animation and player fading in color
the player lights up and a "flash sign" lights where the battery bars
should be and nothing happens. No charge!!!!
I`m so fuc$#%@#$]fuc$#%@#$^ pissed of, cause I have to have music....
please help me
/ chris

This is the same thing that has happened to me... except it isn't even that the battery isn't charging... because I took a fully charged, working fine battery from a new unit, and put it in my Zen - same result. The unit will ONLY work on the power cord. It is toast, and tomorrow I have to contact Zen about having it replaced.
The real kick in the *(&* was that not even a new player could solve my problem of coming up with music for a graduation party - Rhapsody had deemed I'd already transferred the music, and not even changing players would change that... so I had to go to my son's computer, and use Yahoo Unlimited. It was a nightmare.
And of course I was just 40 days out from purchase from Amazon. The advice I now give out repeatedly is this - buy the unit at Best Buy (currently $99), and for a mere $30 you can have it replaced if it malfunctions for 2 years. This is not a mail-order friendly device.

• Zen micro doesn' work after firmware upgr

after having upgraded from version .02.03 to version 2.00.2 , the player in not detected by the pc anymore.
the player itself works properly ( the radio , the menu etc) but is completely empty. No way to sync it with the pc , when you connect it to the usb port ,the computer gives an error message : impossible to connect the peripherical

zenskull,
Are you sure the player firmware is registered as 2.00.2? Go into the player setting and check the firmware information. From the info I have, you should not be able to flash to 2.00.2 from .02.05. Hmm....

• Zen Micro Auto Sync H

I have a Zen Micro and I'm trying to activate Auto Sync in Windows Media Player but I can't. Maybe I should point out that I'm using Windows XP and Media Player 0.
I've searched this board for similar problems and didn't really get an answer. Is it true that not all players support it's
I looked in the User's Guide and they only mention the software that came with the MP3 player. Is there no way I can use Media Player to to auto sync then?
Thanks in advance for any help you might bring,
Charlie

<FONT face=Century>Actually, I have another problem...
<FONT face=Century>I used to have a Movu2, with which all you had to do was copy folders across and you were sorted. So of course, it's taking a little while to get used to the fact that the Zen Micro doesn't work with folders...
<FONT face=Century>But what happens is this: I know that in order for all my songs to be sorted by album, I have to make sure that all the information in the advanced mode of the properties is correct. Which I do, and it works when I'm copying entire albums.
<FONT face=Century>But what happens when you have a folder on your PC containing songs from various artists? I've tried my best to come up with a solution that would put them all in an album I called "Misc Artists", in which they'd be sorted by alphabetical order -- I formatted the titles of the songs to include the artist names as well so they'd stay together when I have more than one song per artist. It works for most of the songs, but not al of them, and they end up at the end of the list, for no particular reason. I really don't understand why...

• Creative zen micro line-in recordi

I read a review of the zen micro at CNET.com, and their short video clip tells me that the zen micro has line-in recording. However, nowhere does it state/mention that feature in the zen micro homepage, nor is it mentioned in any other site. I would just like to confirm that the zen micro doesn't have line-in recording...

Yep, the CNET.COM video review did mention about a line-in recording function. But maybe because that video was recorded way before the Zen Micro was actually launched, therefore there was a mix up in information. And so no, Creative Zen Micro does not have a line-in recording function. However, the Zen Neeon and Zen Nano Plus does have line-in recording if you're interested =)

• Zen micro FM prob

my 5gb zen micro doesn't have the option for changing from mono to stereo. but more than that, it doesn't have an option to choose between international or japan frequency...so my player doesn't pick up any frequency at all.
is this true for others?
is it caused by the current firmware upgrade?

thanks everyone...
it was my player that was defecti've.anyway, i was able to have the unit changed now i can listen to both radio and mp3s.
thanks a bunch!

• Big ploblems in zen micro

I just got my zen last week. it seems good in every aspect, but the bad signal quality of FM Radio annoyed me a lot, the speed of loading is slower than expected(i've used ipod before and it's quick), and the battery life can't compare with my former MD player(not more than 5 hours playback, maybe it's because i played WAV files all the time, is it more power consuming?)

Zericho
Yes, the Zen micro seems a pretty good mini-hardri've based mp3 player. has a lot of features.
The radio, the zen micro doesn't have the best or/and the worst radio reception. It is alright. I'm not sure how i can explain to you to fix that problem.
The Speed of loading is slower, i had that problem before, sometimes, (in my own experience) when the ZM just started up, it is still just starting up, so it takes time for it to be fully aware and fully capable of fast speed loading. I'm sorry, i prob don't know how to anser that question for you either.
There are the faqs to answer that question for you also. First of all, the higher the volume, the more power will be used. If you use the backlit LCD blue light, that will take some battery life away, i try to limit myself from using that. Try not to navigate through songs in library because the hardri've based mp3 player has to think and will take some battery power away also because you're searching constantly for a song to listen. i would suggest you to make playlists, or select play mode to SHUFFLE. So limit yourself for song navigation and that means both navigating through songs by the vertical scroll and the rewind/fast foward button to click back from one song to another. Also, there is a thread about the Bitrates/Kpbs and how much power that will be used.

I hope that helps you to increase your battery power. Well, from doing most of those steps, i increased my battery power from 7-8 hours to 0- hours, somtimes 2 full hours. maybe you'll be able to increase your battery power too.
here is also the faq, hope it is useful for you.

• Battery Problem with Zen Micro

Hi
I decided to buy my girlfriend a Zen Micro for Christmas based on me owning a Zen Xtra 30GB and having only good things to say about it. Unfortunately from the off my girlfriend complained that the battery was only lasting a few days with about an hours use a day. At first I thought she was leaving it on and wearing down the battery. After a while I decided to do a few tests:
. I left it on continually to see how long the battery lasted. It lasted around 2 hours, which is about right.
2. I fully charged it and left it a for a few days without using it. I then tried to switch it back on and to my surprise it wouldn't, it had been draining battery power despite the fact it wasn't in use!
I have also noticed that the action of turning the player on and off seems to drain alot of power from it.
I've calculated the battery lasts for around 4 hours but recently my girlfriend fully charged it listened to it for an hour then switched it off. When she switched it back on the battery indicator was on one bar!
I don't buy the fact that this is normal and I consider the product to be defecti've.
It is worth noting that I do have a separate mains adapter which plugs into the USB port of the player. Something that I think after reading through many posts on here could be the problem, why does in not have a separate mains port like the Zen Xtra? I have stock firmware.
Lastly I wanted to add that the reasons I am able to see this product is flawed is because I am able to compare it to my Zen Xtra which I can leave off for about a month (not tried longer) and it still retains its original battery power. And I can use it for about 2 hours a day for a week until I need to recharge it. I understand that there is a difference in battery power max duration but this is only by 2 hours so does not explain why the Zen Micro is only lasting for 4 hours or less.
I have since submited an email to Creative, so hopefully they will replace the item.
Message Edited by ChrisTsamados on 05-8-2005 04:04 AM

4 hours in definately not fine and your kidding yourself if you think it is. This MP3 player has been sold with a specification that the battery will play continously for 2 hours. Allowing for the power drain that may occur switching it on and off a few times this should mean it should atl east last 8 hours.
My Zen Xtra has a 4 hour battery life and it lasts probably very close to that mark, even with turning it on and off multiple times and also moving playlists around and with EQ enabled.
To me the most logical eplanation is that the Micro is severely draining power even when switched off.
With regards the USB I picked up on a point someone else raised but looking back maybe it is all down to the battery drain problem.Message Edited by ChrisTsamados on 05-8-2005 2:29 PM

• Zen Micro acessories at creative.

Hey,
I was browsing around creative.com, and stumbled upon the accesories page for the Zen Micro. It shows that there is a pouch for the Micro, but it isn't in the online store. Is there any word as to when it will be for sale?
http://www.creative.com/zenmicro/wel...=accessories#5Message Edited by angelals on 0-3-2005 02:3 PM

Yes, I meant item #5. From what I've read, the Zen Micro doesn't come with this item, only the "protecti've pouch". If anyone from Creative is reading this.............please reply. Also, will it be available in multi colors, to match our Micros? Thanx in advance :smileyvery-happy: .

• Zen Micro does not accurately show length of

For most of my mp3's, the Zen Micro doesn't show the correct length of the mp3. For example, I have one mp3 that is like 20 minutes long, but for some reason it only shows a little over 4 minutes (4:06 for example).
Once it goes past the 4 minutes, it keeps playing, but the length won't increase...so if I were to fast fwd or rewind, it does it as of the 4:06 mark.
Other mp3's will be six minutes long and it only shows it as 20 seconds.
Has anyone else experienced this?

That sounds like an MP3 format problem. Try re-ripping the MP3 with a better encoder. It's probably something wrong with the way the MP3 got tagged.

• Zen Micro Playlist Direct

Can anyone tell me what the Playlist Directory is for on the Zen Micro? I have created several playlists with the Zen Explorer and can see those lists using the Zen Explorer. However, nothing is in the Zen Micro's Playlist directory? What is this directory and how do you use it's
Tony

Your issue is very confusing. I think what SSR is trying to say is that "Is your playlist shown in the playlist menu in the Zen Micro?"
And what you are trying to say is "Can I view the playlist on my Windows Explorer?"
You have to use Zen Micro Media Explorer to view your playlist or you can use Creative Mediasource. There is no directory that shows the playlist in Windows Explorer or on your computer. The Zen Micro doesn't act as hard dri've like how iRi'ver does. In the iRi'ver you have to configure everything on the iRi'ver or you can use WMP0.
You can also use WMP0, but I haven't tried making a playlist with WMP0 yet.
