Why no Apple Protection Plan for iPhone outside the US??

The Apple Care Protection Plan for iPhone has been available for a while in the U.S, but it's still unavailable in other countries where the iPhone is sold.
Even if in countries where the iPhone V1 has been available since November 2007, like UK, France, Germany.
Will the APP for iPhone be available outside of the U.S anytime soon???

Since AppleCare is an extended warranty, Apple needs to write it in such a way that foreign governments will accept it. Even here in the US, it was not valid in Florida until fairly recently.

  • AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone

The Protection Plan costs $69.00 for a second year of coverage and I do not know if I should buy it. I have heard that the battery in the iPhone needs to be replaced yearly, is this true? I have heard that to replace a battery, it will cost around $85 and if this is true, isn't it better to get the AppleCare package for $69?
    Thanks

    Ansuz82,
The iPhone batteries page says designed to retain 80% at this link in the right hand side bar:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
The quote from that page is:
A properly maintained iPhone battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.
The page you link to says it will be replaced by Apple if it drops to below 50% capacity while covered. The actual quote is:
Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your coverage to two years from the date of your iPhone purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone. During the plan’s coverage period, Apple will replace the battery if it drops below 50% of its original capacity. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery replacement for $79, plus $6.95 shipping, subject to local tax. Apple disposes of your battery in an environmentally friendly manner.
In other word it should retain 80% of its capacity at least after 400 full charge cycles. If your battery should drop below 50% capacity while covered by warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan, it will be replaced by Apple. There isn't a way to read the number of cycles off the battery that I am aware of.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone in Malaysia

Hi All, I would like to ask that, if i purchase the iPhone from online store, then i purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan from other country.
I would like to extend my iPhone warranty but in our country, it don't have sells AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone.

  • Why is apple blocking downgrade for iphone 4 and why apple is selling defective apps??????

First thing i cant downgrade from ios4.3.4 to 4.3.3 why? secondly, why do there are defective apps in itunes store? and will my money will be refunded or not? why cant we try products for some hours to make a buying decision? there are thousands of questions unanswered, i just have device with me and apple is remotely controlling it, why are u blocking users freedom?????

First thing i cant downgrade from ios4.3.4 to 4.3.3 why?
Because doing so is not supported - primariy since the iPhone's baseband is often updated or changed with a firmware update. Since 4.3.4 addressed a potential security issue involving the download of a PDF document from a nefarious website, what is the reason for wanting to downgrade to 4.3.3?
secondly, why do there are defective apps in itunes store?
Because Apple doesn't do extensive testing with every single app. Apple primarily checks apps not accessing any private iPhone API's for security reasons, apps do not violate Apple's terms of use for the app store, and the app does what is says it does - based on the detailed description provided by the developer for the app. Just as Microsoft has never thoroughly tested or done any testing at all for every single 3rd party Windows app, Apple doesn't do any thorough app testing - that is the app developer's responsbility - no different for 3rd party apps on your computer.
and will my money will be refunded or not?
That is up to the app developer.
why cant we try products for some hours to make a buying decision?
With many apps, there is a free version and a paid version. You can try the free version first if available before purchasing the paid version.
i just have device with me and apple is remotely controlling it, why are u blocking users freedom?????
This is a user to user help forum only. You are not addressing Apple here.
If this is how you feel, exercise your freedom to sell your iPhone. Use the proceeds to purchase a device you believe you'll have complete freedom with.

  • Apple Care Plan For iphone 3GS

Having bought the 3GS on launch day in the UK.
Does anyone think the care plan is a good idea and worth the £58.
Please advise the reasons why, or why not?
    Cheers

You have up to one year after purchase to buy AppleCare. Wait 11½ months and if the rumours about the next iPhone make you think you will be upgrading to it, then don't buy AppleCare. If you think you will keep your 3GS for another year, then you can buy it.
Interesting strategy. But I believe Applecare starts having advantages at the 90-day mark when the included tech support ends. I assume that if you have to visit a Genius Bar or call tech support after 90 days you pay for it if no Applecare.
I believe in getting Applecare and have for all my Apple products. On my iBook and first MacBook it was a good decision. The MacBook was sent off for service twice, both after the end of the one-year warranty, the iBook once. My iPhone 2G worked flawlessly for 23 months and still is good. All it would take is one repair of an iPhone out of warranty to more than equal the cost of Applecare, I suspect.
I should add that I generally don't upgrade a phone before the 2-year mark (skipped the 3G) and keep a laptop for at least two years (my iBook, well out of warranty, is now being used by a friend .. and my original black MacBook is now owned by my grandson who uses it to develop iPhone software). With an Aluminum MacBook purchased in Oct 2008 I can't really justify upgrading to the new 13" MacBook Pro quite yet, alas!

Well. This is not caused by any app nor is it a software fault in general. But someone told me, that the owner could have let change the screen after the damage that caused the dent. Anyway, this problem exists. The question is how many units are affected and why this is. However. Cheers.

  • Input on extended protection plans for iPhone 5.

I purchased my iPhone 5 from Verizon and only have 10 days to get AppleCare. I am looking for coverage that will cover loss or theft. Any input on what you have used?
Do I need an appointment to add AppleCare?
    Thanks
    Sean

Answering the second question first, yes, you will need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar at an Apple Store to have them check out your iPhone before you'll be able to purchase AppleCare+.
As to the issue of insurance for loss or theft, you'll probably need to tell us what country you're in before anyone can make suggestions. But I'd start by getting a quote from the insurance company you have your homeowners' insurance through and see what they'd quote to provide a rider for your iPhone.
    Regards.

  • Do apple protection plan for macbook pro cover retina or is it just macbook pro

does apple care for macbook pro 15"/17" also cover til macbook with retina or not??

Covers all Mac models. Just be sure to order the correct AC item for YOUR specific model. Price is contingent on the model covered.
Edit: it appears that the AC 15" MBP package covers the regulars and the Retinas as well for that size. To be on the safe side, pick the Retina option from the list:

  • Anybody knows when Apple is releasing the "Apple Store" application for iPhone outside of the US?

When is Apple releasing the "Apple Store" application in any other country than the US?

We're all users on this forum, just like yourself so we would have no more access to that information than you would.

  • Is AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone country specific?

    As of above.

So if say I buy my iPhone in Country A, I can't but the APP in Country B to use it on my phone?
To be more specific, I am not talking about "claiming" warranty, but rather Country B sells APP cheaper than Country A and I am heading to Country B. Ain't sure if I can head to Country B to purchase APP to activate it on a phone purchased in Country A.

  • Apple Care+ for iPhone 5S & Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the apple care+ for iPhone and the Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook pro.
Since I will soon be in Hong Kong, I intend to buy the iPhone 5S due to great savings compared to my come country.
However, I have a question regarding the warranty which confuses me a bit.
    1) If I buy the iPhone 5S and the Apple care+, does that mean I will be covered world wide?
I am from Denmark, and the applecare is currently not available from the Danish apple store. but does this imply that I will not be covered when I am in Denmark, in case of an incident?
If not, what can one do? Should one ship it to an apple repair somewhere in a European country that is covered by the Applecare protection plan for iPhone?
    2) And the same question goes for the AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook - will a MacBook with the protection plan bought from Hong Kong, and imported to Denmark, be covered world wide, or what limitations does it have?
I was trying to look through the terms and conditions on the Hong Kong website, however, it does seem rather intransparent some times.
    3) Finally, I have a question about purchasing Apple equipment from the physical Apple store in Hong Kong. As I am a student, I would of course like to have the student prices - should there be any problems getting this price from the physical apple store, or can one only get it from online purchases? Is a valid student ID sufficient proof of student status?
    Regards,
    Michael

    Start here:
    Apple - Support - AppleCare+ - iPhone
    Apple - Support - AppleCare
From each of those sites you should be able to discover what if any differences may prevail depending upon the country of purchase.
Apple's warranties may not be honored outside of the country where the equipment was purchased. I have no way of knowing whether hardware purchased in Hong Kong will have a warranty honored in Denmark.
If you have a valid student ID then the academic discount should be honored in the Hong Kong Apple Store.

  • If you have an apple protection plan and upgraded do you need a new one?

I have just upgraded to the 4S and I have an apple protection plan for my 3GS.  Do I need to purchase another apple protection plan?

Your old AppleCare does not transfer when you upgrade, sorry.  And AppleCare+ for the iPhone 4s needs to be purchased at the same time as the phone itself, so I believe you are out of luck at this point.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/S4575LL/A
Seems you may be able to add it up to 30 days after purchasing the iPhone, but you have to go in person so they can inspect the phone beforehand.

  • Can I purchase the "old" Apple Care Protection Plan for the iPhone 5S?

    Hi community,
I have an iPhone 5S since day one of launch (september 20th 2013) and I want to purchase an Apple Care Protection Plan for it.
As I remember it's possible to purchase it as long as the 1-year-warranty is running, so my time is limited :-)
It seems as if the "old" Protection Plan doesn't exist anymore, there's only AppleCare+ for purchase.
My problem is that AppleCare+ can only be purchased 30 days after the purchase of a new iPhone.
Am I still able to get the "old" Protection Plan with the same conditions or is there no chance?
    Thanx-a-lot in advance!

Call Apple care in your country they should advise you if you can purchase as you seem to have fallen between the two Plans if AppleCare+ was announced in your Country after the date you purchased your iPhone 5S
