Why no Fios in my part of Brooklyn???

Look on Twitter for the pics of the wiring boxes on our buildings. #brooklyn #verizon #fios #notoffered. It's a 1980's wiring disaster and my phone has been out for 2 days!!! Please let Fios come to Clinton Hill.

Same problem here.
I had my contents playing from the application iPod in my newly "clean" updated iPhone 3G, then I downloaded 3 podcasts from the iTunes Store in my iphone over wifi and the next time I launched "iPod" the screen read "Updating library" and then only the 3 new podcasts were shown no other contents is available, and the information menu from the settings reads 0 songs but the available disk space is relevant with the songs still being on the iPhone.
In addition, I have to say that iPod, especially the podcasts section, felt more sluggish than on the previous version.
I look forward to a fix.
Best regards,

  • Why hashMap is not the part of collection framework

why hashMap is not the part of collection framework ??
why Map start its own new hierarchy??
    thanks

A Map is not simply a collection of stuff, it is a mapping from stuff to stuff.
It doesn't make any sense to "add stuff to a map", unless you tell it both a key and a value.
It doesn't make any sense to ask "does this contain stuff", unless you tell it to look in its keys or in its values.
Those (and similar) reason explain why a Map is not a Collection.
Note that there are views of the keys and the values that do behave like Collections (for example you can take the keys() view of the Map and tell it to remove stuff from it and it will do what you'd expect). But the Map as a whole is not a Collection of stuff. It is a mapping of stuff.
(I hereby declare "stuff" to be a technical term).

  • Any idea why itunes is only downloading part of each song I purchase?

Any idea why itunes is only downloading part of each song I purchase?

Not really, a bug I suspect...
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from the music section of your iTunes library, close & then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked. This seems to help with partial downloads...
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

Help!! Why is there a black part in the X when I try to delete my app? It's covering up the supposed to be white space around the X button

    Try:
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Since they all line up on the left site that could be a hardware problem or maybe a software glitch. I have never seen that problem posterd here before

  • Why Does FIOS Quantum Offer Less than Comcast Xfinity?

It is coming time for my FIOS contract to be renewed and I am having a hard time justifying renewing it.  FIOS Quantum was a huge disappointment for us because:
    1. The Remote control lag is terrible, even trying all the reboots etc. IR remotes have been around for ages, this should work, AND it's ridiculous to have to shutdown and reboot all the set top boxes to fix a memory leak at this stage of programming.
    2. Althoough the VMS1100 has eSATA ports, they are not enabled.  You cannot export shows to a computer or an external hard drive, both of which I could do with TiVo.
    3. ALthough FIOS has an app for my iPad, all I can do is "see" and set up recordings, I can't watch anything from my DVR on my iPad or a Windows PC, AND the FIOS app ONLY works when it's on the same WiFi Network as the DVR, it doesn't;t work over the Internet.
In theory at least Comcast Xfinity does all of the above.
So my question is, why should I stick with FIOS?  I hve read the forums for months and there is no word from Verizon that they acknowledge these deficits to Xfinity, much less that they have any plans to address these shortfalls in the future.
Without the hope that Verizon is addressing their shortcomings, maybe it is time to move on to what seems to be the better wide area connected service.

I agree. They have stolen more of my life then that even.

  • Why is FIOS TV not available in League City, TX?

League City has had FIOS internet for years but no TV is in sight.  Customer service told me it was because there is no local franchise agreement, but that is handedled by the state and not our local city goverment.   Other verizon territories in Texas have it so I'm not sure why we would not.  The few local techs I have talked with have said that something is close.  I know many in my area, many people went with comcast because of the lack of TV.  I'm sure many would switch over if FIOS TV was avaiable.

From what I understand Texas took that decision away from local officials over 10 years ago.  The state grants the local franchise agreement.  I guess I could check with my local state rep.  When we first got FIOS the tech said there was some additional infrastructure needed and maybe verizon doesn't want to use the capital for it.  Especially with the proposed "over the top" LTE solution supposedly coming within a year.

  • [SOLVED] makepkg error: Why is it looking for '.part' files?

I've been seeing the following problem with every package I try to build with makepkg.  The download works, but then makepkg complains that it can't find the source file:
    ==> Making package: android-sdk r20-2 (Fri Jun 29 11:01:35 CDT 2012)

Why is it looking for the .part file, instead of the .tgz file?  When I run makepkg again, without doing anything in between, it finds the .tgz file and goes on its merry way.
I'm using curl, and I haven't tried wget.  Judging by my unscientific sample of forum posts it looks like wget is the de facto standard, so this may not be on anyone else's radar.

It looks like this code is the culprit.  I don't have time to dig into it right now, but presumably this works with wget.  I would have thought any cmdline downloader would manage renaming the .part file itself...?
    makepkg, lines 395-417 (pacman 4.0.3-2):
395 # replace %o by the temporary dlfile if it exists
    396 if [[ $dlcmd = *%o* ]]; then
    397 dlcmd=${dlcmd//\%o/\"$file.part\"}
    398 dlfile="$file.part"
    399 fi
414 # rename the temporary download file to the final destination
    415 if [[ $dlfile != "$file" ]]; then
    416 mv -f "$SRCDEST/$dlfile" "$SRCDEST/$file"

  • Why aren't patch changes part of the AU spec?

I'm working with a Novation Remote25Sl and the new Automap 3 software with Logic. So far, it's kind of working. But kind of not... And it's brought up a question that's nagged me for a while now.
Why is something as simple as "+/- patch" not a fundamental part of the AU instrument spec? I mean, shouldn't it be dang simple to map a midi controller so that when you're playing MiniMonsta, or the impOSCAR or FM8, etc, you can just hit buttons to go back and forth through the patches without having to grab your mouse?
We're talking 1980's basic Midi functionality here folks... Anybody out there part of the AU developer community who'd care to comment? I swear, it would make software instruments so much more FUN if they could improve the "no mouse" experience.
    Um, please?
Any workarounds Im missing? Yes, I know Logic's built in synths have key commands that be assigned to next/previous preset. I use'em all the time. But that's no good for 3rd party AU's. And as I say, wouldn't this be something you'd expect as part of the basic parameters for any instrument? Or do you think they deliberately left it out to discourage people from changing patches in the middle of a track, causing unpredictable CPU spikes, etc?
    Hmmmmm

While I agree with you (the level of patch handling, although we have massive resources now, is in many other ways inferior to what we had when we were all using MIDI sequencers and hardware instruments) - speaking to instrument developers, realtime patch changing is generally regarded as a headache.
This is why the favoured approach is to have multiple instruments loaded (eg how Mainstage does patches) and switch between instruments, rather than having one instrument switch patches.
Now, for most of my instruments, I set them up with Logic settings, specifically so I can have keyboard/MIDI commands to switch patches - but there some instruments that can't be handled like this.
I wish some DAW developer really took this whole patch/instrument management area for plugins and developed a top-modern, elegant and comprehensive solution.
    Ideally, in Logic please!

  • Why do email recipients receive "Part 1.2.3" attachments?

Every email sent using Mail that has attachments also includes an extra file, named "Part 1.2.3" or something. Anyone NOT using Mail as an email client gets these files. The file contents are something like "<html><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; "><div><p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px"></p></div></body></html>" if opened in a text editor.
There is no reason I can see why the attachments should be included. They are kind of a pain for recipients. They are unnecessary. And thanks to the really generic naming scheme, there is apparently no way to google for them to see if anyone else besides me is being driven up the wall by them.

If you are sending to people who use Outlook as an email client, there is likely nothing that will solve all of your problems. Outlook was designed to work in a closed Exchange server environment. It was extended, poorly, to work with the rest of the world.
The best way to communicate with them is to send email in Plain Text and go to the Edit>Attachments menu and select both options.
If you need rich text, then select the same attachment options, but when you start an email, change the font to something other than your default. That will cause Mail to start the message with a Font tag which usually triggers Outlook to consider the whole message as HTML.
However, your outgoing email server (ISP) and the incoming Exchange server may tear apart the message to check of viruses and then put it together in a way that Outlook chokes on.

  • Why does FiOS give such a lousy router???

Using the cruddy Actiontec MI424-WR router that came from Verizon FiOS, I was getting 15/15 internet speeds over WiFi.  This was for the 50/25 plan I signed up for.  If I hardwired to the router I got 58/39.  So Verizon does deliver the speed they promise, but the router stinks big time.
I researched solutions online and saw all kinds of replies, with some saying due to the limitations of WiFi technology, there is nothing Verizon can do about the slow speeds over that connection.
Just to see, I turned off the wireless on my MI424-WR and hooked up an old Cisco E2500 that we brought us when we relocated from Japan with the military.  Now my WiFi speed is 58/38.
So, Verizon does deliver a great speed but then they limit themselves by using such an awful router.
    Why?

I have been getting absolutely horrible wifi speeds with this router. It's so bad that I can't even watch YouTube videos withut them pausing and buffering. Hard wired, my speeds are close to what is advertised, but I just did a couple speed tests on my wifi connected desktop, and was pretty constant at 3 to 4 Mbps download and upload but this is my latest. I feel like I'm back in the 80's and using dialup to connect to QLink!

  • Why do row numbers obscure part of column A in doctored Excel file?

I love my MAC but find that the imported Excel files that I have changed over to Numbers have the same problem. The row numbers feature interferes or overlaps part of Column "A" making it difficult to read the contents of Column "A" without moving my cursor to remove the row numbers indicator.
    Any suggestions?
    Many Thanks,
    Chuck

No, the scroll bar is all the way to the left. It has only happened with former landscape Excel files that I have made into landscape Numbers files. I am working with 0.25 margins on the left and right because there is a lot of information and i need to margins set there. When you put your cursor anywhere within the table, the number rows appear and cover-up about 1.3rd of Column "A".
    Thanks for trying to help!

I tried to customize a slide control. In customize mode, I could not delete cosmetic parts.
