Why no iTunes Match in Israel

Everything Apple is available in Israel but STILL Apple chooses to limit its services, like iTunes Match and  iBooks (except free books) here. Apple computers and devices are two to three time the price of the same thing in the USA but we are denied access to services which are basically part of the reason that makes Mac, iPods, iPhones and iPads "special".
Why?

Once again, thank you for your interest and thoughts. I couldn't agree with you more about the lack of competition due to sole franchises. Apple has given iDigital the sole franchise for Israel and, while they do hold stock of Apple products, they will only supply individual units to other stores after an order and deposit has been paid. This does not apply to iPads and iPhones though. They do supply the stores and other firms are also importing themselves. The problem with doing this with computers is a thing called a keyboard which, I am sure you are quite aware of. I suppose one could also buy one from outside and put letter stickers on it, Hebrew, Arabic, etc., but they peel off and are ugly. However, the killer with buying on-line is the shipping cost which gets added to VAT.
I took your advice and checked out the Apple Store price for my MacBook Pro (non Retina) in Belgium. The price there is NIS 7,344 compared to NIS 8,199 here and that includes 23% VAT. I was in Belgium in June and, while I didn't check the prices of MacBooks and iMacs, I did notice that the other Apple goodies are about the same price as here.
With other brands of computers running Windows or Android, the situation is totally different. There is huge competition and all sorts of deals are available.
In conclusion then, it appears that we who are now "grown-ups" and have migrated to Mac, will just have to live with the higher prices. By the way, my first Apple was an Apple II Plus in 1980 with 64 KB or RAM and two external Apple Disk Drives!
Again, thank you.
Frank.

  • ITunes Match In Israel

    Hello,
I was wondering why I can't subscribe to iTunes match in Israel? It says my country/region isn't supported yet Israel shows up on apple's iTunes match supported country list.
    Thank you for your help,
    Daniel

According to this article, it isn’t. iTunes in the Cloud isn’t the same as iTunes Match.

  • ITunes Match in Israel - cannot subscribe

As of today iTunes store is available in Israel - thank you.
iTunes match appears to be avaailable as well - at least the links works and there is pricing available:
And yet when I try to subscribe I get that my storefront does not support "automatically renewing subscriptions". This is per Israeli law, ok, but why enable iTunes match at all then? Are there any changes in the near future that will allow this to work? Or is tit just another temporary bug?

    Hi.
Here's my problem. I think it is the same issue.
Right now I can try to launch iTunes Match in the Store by clicking iTunes Match link in quick links on the right.
    Then I get an error:
After that, if I go to my library again, I see the Match link at the top now. But it also doesn't get me there:
Anyone else gets the same behavior?

  • Why does iTunes Match download songs that I skip?

I haven't seen this question posted yet, but feel free to direct me to any pertinent posts.
I've been using iTunes Match for the last couple days, and all in all I really enjoy the service. There is one issue that I've yet to see addressed on these boards yet though; why is iTunes Match downloading songs that I skip? I listen to all my music in random, so occasionally there will be a song I just don't want to hear at the moment. I assumed that if I don't listen to a song completely that it would not be downloaded to my device. Not true apparently. I was able to use about half a gig of data in a few hours just by skipping songs. Every song that was skipped, even if I didn't hear a single second of it, was downloaded (at an average size of 5-8 MB). I sincerely hope this is just a bug and not a 'feature'.
Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I have noticed this too. I filled up my phone VERY fast yesterday.
and deleting is not easy, lots of left swipe DELETE action, took a while.

  • Why does iTunes Match cause iTunes to crash ?

Why does iTunes Match cause iTunes to crash ?

My problem is similar.  It began right after I allowed an Adobe update to run.  (Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.45.2 is recorded in my Registry.) Now every single website I try to open triggers a window (see below) and repeats many times.
It makes no difference whether I "Allow" or not.  I think it runs this window for every flash object on that website.  It is occurring while I enter this post!
It makes using the Internet MOST challenging.  Surely this is causing major problems for everyone.
I have IE8 on Windows Vista.
Here's the text from the message:
"A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer.
This program will open outside of Protected Mode. Internet Explorer's Protected Mode helps protect your computer. If you do not trust this website, do not open this program.
    Name:  Adobe Flash Player
    Publisher: Adobe Systems Incorporated
(Checkbox) Do not show me the warning for this program again.
    buttons:  Allow         Do Not Allow"
Should I appeal to Microsoft or Adobe for a solution?  Is is possible to install the previous version?
    Thanks for any wisdom.

  • Why does itunes match delete all songs from my iPhone leaving me music less in the mountains! :(

i went through a drive through the mountains recently needless to say with out radio, only sourse of music... my precious iphone. well aparently after i had subscribed to itunes match it felt the need to go behind my back and delete all the songs i had previously on my phone! *** apple? i had to do an emergency pull over and yank out my macbook and when i pluged it in sure as could be no music stored on the phone so i was apparently streaming music chewing up a huge chunk of my data in little over two hours!i had to shut off itunes match on the macbook and the iphone and sync again just to get some music!!!
There has to have a solution!! why did it do this? Did anybody else have similiar issues?

I have the same problem and I'm not sure this addresses it.  I want to subscribe to iTunes match using my Mac; the intention being that I can then remove all the subset of my tunes from the ipad mini, and when travelling listen to music on the iPad mini via iTunes Match.
So the question still remains, does the music stored on my iPad mini get automatically removed when i subscribe to iTunes Match, or do I have to remove it??
Also, my iPad mini is showing that 1.8GB of storage is taken up by music at the moment, will all of this be freed if I subscribe to iTunes match and delete the music (irrespective of whether this is done manually or via an automatic delete).
    Thank you

  • Why is iTunes Match not available in India

Can anyone tell me why match is not available in India.
I am English but live in India As I no longer have a UK credit card I cant even change my country back to UK

Michael is correct.  While iTunes Match has been rolled out in many countries, India certainly is not the only country where it is not yet available.

  • Why has itunes match stopped working

i was uploading music onto itunes match this morning and everything was fine after i had finished i looked on my phone and iphone match had vanished now all i get it the cloud sign then no music
i have rest my phone and restored it and still nothing i cannot find anythiing on the threads that work please help.

I just had a 1 hour talk with applecare about this.  I was esclated through several levels.
They are not reporting an issue with the iTunes Match service but I can nolonger add a device to iTunes match and they have no idea why.
I still have an open ticket.  But no known resolution... So I am betting it is a server side issue that Apple is not reporting.

  • Why is iTunes match not matching a few specific tracks in an album?, why is iTunes match not matching a few specific tracks in an album?

iTunes Match has worked relatively well for me (I have almost 12,000 tracks), but there are a few oddities:
    1. I'm not sure that iTunes Match has propery identified the 2009 re-mastered Beatles albums, which I bought as CDs before being released on iTunes.  There is something distinctly odd with the stereo separation, and some vocals have thus disappeared (especially on Abbey Road).
    2. I have a protected classical Naxos CD by the Kodaly Quartet, playing string quartets by Debussy and Ravel. Three of the tracks are identified as being unsuitable for matching.  Why would this be?  There are other instances of this elsewhere in my library.
    3. 'Jerry Springer: The Opera' won't match at all.  I assume this is censorship, which is an absolute shame.  What would Mr Jobs be saying about that, I wonder?
    4. Quite a lot of album art is missing.  This is not to obscure albums, necessarily, but to well known works, such as The Beatles White Album.
    5. Smart Playlists seems to be a bit of a disaster.
If anyone has any thoughts or solutions, I'd love to hear from you.
    Thanks!
    John

  • Why did iTune Match not upload all of my music?

Why do some of the songs on my phone appear as gray and not selectable to pull from the cloud?  I would understand if it was whole albums that did not upload, but it is very random as to which ones are there and which ones are not.  For example, I am sometimes missing 6 out of 10 songs on 1 album.  So what made 4 of the songs work, but the other 6 not work?  The ones that did not go to the cloud play on my computer fine, so I know they were locatable on my end.  I did see that some of the songs that did not go to the cloud were pointing to the wrong folder on my computer, so I fixed those.  I went ahead and started the iTunes Match process over again.  I am hoping this was the right thing to do.  I thought maybe the upload just failed somewhere in the middle of the process.  Any assistance you can provide to me in this matter would be most helpful.

    Hi Wartman73,
If some of your songs are not appearing in iTunes Match, I would first give this article a run through to see if that resolves the issue:

I did some experimentation this morning with iTunes Match album art that wasn't appearing for me and have had some good results.  To begin, it's clear iTunes Match has some size limitations as to what it will accept for album art.  If you have 600x600, 45k images, it won't display them.  Re-size to 300x330 25k and if all else is correct, they should show up.  My guess is this is by design.  The core audience for iTunes match are people accessing it while on the go.  Less bandwidth, faster downloads, more space for music, etc.
To follow up on your answer a bit, Jim, I use album art that is 600x600 @ 72 DPI in much of my custom applied album art and it does show up on my iPad via iTunes Match. I've found that the best resolutions for album art are either 300x300 or 600x600 at 72 DPI.
600 x 600 works?  Good to know. Admittedly, I didn't try to nail down whether it was dpi or file size that mattered most, just took things down to 300 x 300 and around 25k and that did it. Perhaps it's file size that's key here.  I'll go as small as I can both ways though, provided the image looks OK to me via AppleTV on my 52" Samsung. 300x300 seemsOK to these old eyes and I'm hoping smaller will improve load times for the artwork.
I can guess why Apple decided to put some limitations on art, rather like they have with the 200Mb track limit - which drops a lot if the song gets converted to AAC on the fly in iTunes before it's uploaded.  Could they have implemented a similar re-size/resample for artwork? Sure, and perhaps they will one day, but for now I'm just glad to have a pretty good handle on how to fix it myself.

  • Why is iTunes Match such a moving target on matching things?

I have been playing with iTunes Match for the last several months.   I recently deleted everything out and re-matche/uploaded everything.   I have two issues with the service.
    1.  The service relys to much on the whole time track to match it.  I have been using the trick of shortening tracks to what they are in iTunes to get tracks to match.   However this does not always work.   I am picky and I like to have everything be the same as far as a consistent listening experience.
    2.  This leads to problem number 2, why is it it cannot match tracks that it previously matched.   Since the putting everything back up into match, I currently have 138 tracks that are listed as Matched AAC files but are uploaded to the service.
These problems wouldn't be so bad but it's frustrating when you have 10 tracks out of 36 match with no reason or explanation.   It feels like i'm having to game the system to get my stuff to match up.
If anyone has a suggestoin why things are missing contantly or how to get a higher match rate, I'd geatly like to hear it.

  • Why is iTunes Match deleting playlists on my Mac?

A few months back, I turned off iTunes Match because iTunes Match checking for updates would bog down my system enough to make it annoying. Since I primarily use it as music backup and to stream to my Apple TV, I didn't miss it. However, I've since done a fresh install of Mountain Lion and with the Mac mini running fast and smooth again, I opted to turn iTunes Match back on.
iTunes Match ran through its motions and completed its process. Then, instead of the playlists that exisisted on my Mac mere seconds before, a list of playlists - which I assume were present a couple months ago - replaced them! I waited a day to see if the newer playlists would repopulate, but they never did. Fortunately I just went into Time Machine to restore the newer playlists so I didn't lose anything. Decided to try again and the same thing happened.
Anybody have any clue as to why this happened? I've read about issues on IOS devices and empty playlists in iTunes, but this is a first for me. I scoured the forums looking for a similar issue, but with no luck. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

    Hi,
someone seems to have installed Windows on your Mac using Apples BootCamp.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
To boot into that Windows you can use the Option/Alt-key at startup of your Mac and select WIndows to be booted as Operating System.
The reason why you cannot delete any files from the WIndows partition (HD) is because it uses the NTFS file system which OSX can read but not write to / delete without additional third-party helper tools.
If you don't want/need the WIndows on your Mac you can use the BootCamp Assistant (in the Applications/Utilities folder) to completely remove the WIndows partition and reassign the used diskspace back to your OSX.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Why is iTunes Match taking so long to Upload?

I just recently subscribed to itunes match its been 2 day since i subscribed and my itunes match is stuck on 24 od 1,844......why is this happening? i checked my internet connection and its great....i dont know what the problem is...is this suppose to happen? Is there anything i can do to speed this thing up? PLEASE HELP!!!

Best route here is to turn on the Kind, iCloud Download and iCloud Status fields, sort on iCloud Download and remove any Song files that are shown as error or ineligible - this can easliy be achieved, post backup, by copying the Song files out of iTunes into a local folder and deleting from iTunes.  Once achieved, sign-out of iTunes Store, restart Computer from cold, start iTunes, login to iTunes Store, start iTunes Match and allow the 3-step process to run to completion.  When looking back at the troublesome files, try converting to 256 kbps AAC using the iTunes tools, prior to 'update iTunes Match' to achieve a 'match' or 'upload'.
