Why no MPEG2 format in imovie?  (imovie 9)

If you need a MPEG2 file to burn a DVD, why does imovie not offer this format as an option?

But if your goal is to burn a DVD, is there a loss of quality going from one format to another?

Why can't I import old imovies into idvd?

I have 68 GB free and the movie is a small one. The iDVD file is on my hard drive and in the dock.
Today I found a work around for this problem.  While I cannot open the original movie, I can access the clips in the media folder.  I put the clips together and made a new movie.   And I can import this to iDVD by going to "share" in the menu and selecting iDVD.

Most users buy iDVD (part of iLife 11 ON DISK).
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

    Hi,
AcidSearch is causing the problems for you (and would most likely have been the cause of the problems with Safari 3 as well):
    0x20eb000 - 0x20edfff net.culater.SIMBL 0.8.2 (8) /Library/InputManagers/SIMBL/SIMBL.bundle/Contents/MacOS/SIMBL
    0x2528000 - 0x255cfff com.pozytron.AcidSearch ??? (0.7b4) /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/AcidSearch.bundle/Contents/MacOS/AcidSearch
Delete the 2 folders highlighted above and then retry Safari.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to adjust the format of an iMovie project in iDVD?

    Hello there,
I need urgent help for a project.
I want to adjust the format of an iMovie project in iDVD so that not only the TV safe area but the whole clip appears on the TV screen. Is there anybody able to help me?
And is it possible to add chapters, either in iMovie or in IDVD?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Later.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use iMovie or iDVD. There're iMovie and iDVD Support Communities where everybody has iMovie and iDVD. You should also post this question there.

    Hey Eric,
Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.
Again, thanks for trying, it is appreciated.

why wont the contextual menu for imovie appear even after I've turned on advanced tools?

    Hi
And You are doing it right
    • draging a clip ontop of other clip in Project - or -
    • ctrl-click on clip in Project
If it's not that - then my wild Guess is that the iMovie Pref file got corrupted.
    • TEST - Easy by creating a new User Account / Log into this / re-try iMovie - if it now works then I would trash the pref. file

  • Why wont Photoshop elements 12 save to DVD in MPEG2 format when I have Premiere Elements 12 package loaded onto pc also?

I purchased the Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 12 package at Best Buy.  I created a slideshow within the Photoshop Elements Package.  When finished, I tried to save it using the instructions noted within the Help section of the Photoshop Elements 12 application.  The slideshow was saved outside of Adobe Premiere Elements. When I tried to playback the DVD to which the slideshow was burned, it wouldn't play in my regular DVD player or a Blue Ray DVD Player.  There is no instruction to import the slideshow into Premiere Elements prior to saving it to a DVD.  The WMV format that Adobe uses will not allow the DVD to play anywhere other than my PC, or another P.C.  The help section of the application states that the the file would automatically be converted into a MPEG2 format using the Photoshop application.  Please explain what I'm missing!!!  Desperate for help, as I have a family reunion this weekend,  The DVD  has 450 photos on it and the DVD was part of a gift package for the family.  Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  • Why My Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0.2 can't burn Mpeg2 format?

    Hi
I have been Using Premiere Elements 3.0.2 for several years, and went succesful on every DVD I make.
Recently I uninstall and reinstall the Premiere Elements 3.0.2 on my window 7 laptop. I'm making the video from old Pictures with different files photos.
This time I'm frustrated as for the burning, the Premiere Element 3.0.2 doesn't support the MPEG2 format. and ask me to get the activation key from Adobe,
I tried several times, But unfortunatelly this is I get http://www.adobe.com/special/encoderactivation/sw_activation.html
Anyone here having the same experience??? Please help.

I have just posted in your other thread the following

This is indeed a very disturbing issue. I have confirmed the path of messages that you have encountered and am not sure what to make of all this. I had not seen any prior warning of Adobe essentially pulling the plug on early versions. And, I do not see that with my Premiere Elements 2 on Windows 7 64 bit.
For now I am thinking in terms of 2 possible workarounds...
What computer was Premiere Elements 3.0/3.0.2 on before it was used on Windows 7 64 bit? If possible, can you install Premiere Elements 3.0/3.0.2 on its orginal computer to see if you are blocked from using burn to disc there also at this time?
With Premiere Elements 3.0/3.0.2 on Windows 7 64 bit, can you export your Timeline to a .mpg or wmv file? If so, you could take that file into Windows DVD Maker if it came with Windows 7 64 bit. There also may be an opportunity to download the Windows DVD maker.

(See Media Features in "Turn Windows Features On or Off")
We are not Adobe here. We are Premiere Elements users who visit here at our own free will to help other Premiere Elements users. You could contact Adobe about this matter, but, you are most likely going to be greeted with the update message.
Please consider the above and then we will continue to think what next.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Media Encoder Error with MPEG2 Formats [../../src/Command.cpp-2519]

I am trying to use some of my presets using MPEG2 format and it is giving me this error: [/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/ame602_mac/main/app/frontend/prj/mac/../../src/Command.cpp-251 9]. I try the system presets that use MPEG2 and I get the same error. I notice if I try to make a new preset, I do not even have the option to choose MPEG2. I only get MPEG4 or MPEG4 (Legacy). I am using AME 7.0.2; if anyone has an idea on why I can't use MPEG2 please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • How to put videos in a classic iPod with the new version of iMovie (iMovie 10.0)?

Hi guys, I've just had a classic iPod, and I've been able to put movies I made with the "old" version of iMovie (iMovie'11) but whenever I want to put movies I've made with iMovie 10.0, I can't, my iPod "can't read them", what can I do to put them in my classic iPod?
I know the videos can only be read if they are MP4, but still, when they are, it doesn't want to be in my iPod...

Share to "iTunes" and be sure to set the size to 480.
In the Share window you'll see a small triangular image next to Size. Click on it to change dimensions.
Once in iTunes you can move it to your iPod.

  • Why is the formatting in my Contact list screwed up?

Why is the formatting in my Contacts list screwed up?  The State in the address list is missing and "Netherlands" is added to all of my US addresses. This occurs after I sync in iTunes, but the Contact is listed normally in Outlook.

I am using Apple Mail.  For some reason it is working right again. Who knows why!
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.  Even though you didn't sollve my problem, I appreciate the effort!

Why change the format of the presentations? Keynote not respect the original format!
This new versionof Keynot (6.1-1769) is very poor:
    is very slow
    missing fonts
    changes the selected letters
change the formats of the presentations
    Carousel animations missing
Please correct the defects before releasing a new version. (The previous version was much better).

    Found the solution!
I must set the Formats in the CODEC to get the Format that I want to play with! I was trying to complicate too much!
The correct format class to is RGBFormat.

  • Mp3 codec for mpeg2 format?

Hello, do you think you can advise: I am using After Effects CS3. I need to produce a video - the requirements are as follows:
IT MUST BE AN MPEG2 FILE, FOLLOWING THESE  SPECS:
    MPEG2 (2:2:0)
    • Window Size: 720x480
    • Frame Rate: 30 FPS (other  frame rates will severely affect quality and not recommended)
    • Video  Bitrate: 8 Mbps video constant bitrate.
    • Video Codec: MPEG Layer 2
    •   Audio Bitrate: 320 kbps audio
    • Audio Codec: MP3 (44kHz stereo)
    •  Multiplexed (Muxed)
but when I want to render my project - there is no such option "mp3 audiocodec" for MPEG2 format. Am I missing something?
Also - even though my composition is set to 720 x 480 and I am renderig it using the same settings - when I play it in Windows Media PLayer - it is displayed at different dimensions (640 x 480). What am I supposed to modify to comply with the above requirements (720x480)?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thank you.

Mylenium, THANK YOU for your answer. Well the thing is - we do not intend to put the video on DVD. Instead - they will produce FLV file of it AND (because we're talking about video for the online press release) according to them:
IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR VIDEO  AVAILABLE FOR MEDIA DOWNLOAD, IT MUST BE AN MPEG2 FILE,
    FOLLOWING THESE  SPECS:
    MPEG2 (2:2:0)
    • Window Size: 720x480
    • Frame Rate: 30 FPS (other  frame rates will severely affect quality and not recommended)
    • Video  Bitrate: 8 Mbps video constant bitrate.
    • Video Codec: MPEG Layer 2
    •   Audio Bitrate: 320 kbps audio
    • Audio Codec: MP3 (44kHz stereo)
    •  Multiplexed (Muxed)
(sorry for repeating the same info).
Does this make more sense to you now? Is it even possible to "multiplex" mp3 to mpeg2 format? There is good chance the video will not even have audio (but then AE produces m2v file) - but in case it will?
Thank you again for your time!
