Why NO NAME message for connected Sony NEX-7 camera?

All the cameras I have previously owned (Nikon and Canon) are named as connected device by iPhoto '11. But my new Sony Alpha NEX-7 is consistently designated as NO NAME device. Why? I am able to download photos. The SD cards I use have been formatted on the Sony camera. This problem is more an annoyance than a serious malfunction, but it is getting on my nerves.
PS: photos exported to Flickr from iPhoto are correctly identified as taken with a Sony NEX-7.

If your camera does not place a name on the card after reformatting, you can add the name using the Finder. Select the "No Name" card in the Finder (on your Desktop, the "Computer" window, or the sidebar in the "Devices" section, whereever you show your mounted devices) and use
"File > Get Info ⌘ I"
to show info panel. Change the name of the card in the "Name and Extension" brick of the Info panel. Now you should be able to see the camera name when importing

Sony nex-5n camera and macbook

I want to buy the new Sony NEX-5N camera but have heard I would not be able to upload my video onto my macbook. If this is true is there another way to do it, with maybe some other software?

Why is SLD necessary for connecting backend?

Let me ask one basic question.
When the WD Java application connects to Backend, what is the role of
SLD? i know that SLD is necessary when runtime but all the necessary info
for connection is set in the JCo connection settings!

All the technical systems are available to the portal and provide the associartion to the differenet technical systems and provide portal as a single point of access.
There is no direct assosiation between the java system to R/3 system for we are going to use the one connecter for connecting r/3 system from the java system.for this we are using the JCo(Java connector) by this connector only we are communicating R/3 system when you needt to connect the R/3 system that system should be available in your portal then by usin SLD we can add r/3 system as new technical sytem and by using JCo name(two logical destination systems Meta, Model systems) we are directly connecting to avail r/3 and get the data at the runtime.

When will the Sony SEL18200 telephoto lens for the Sony NEX-3 be available online?

I chose this camera over the full size Sony Alpha Series cameras due to its smaller size and the "coming soon" SEL18200 lens that was on the Sony website, in-box literature, and BB-online. Still waiting.........If I can't get this lens at Best Buy, can I exchange this camera for a full size Sony that has optional lens' available. What is the problem with getting this lens?

Problem with Sony NEX-5 camera raw images in Aperture 3.

Aperture 3 cannot says the RAW files from my Sony Alpha NEX-5 camera are an "unsupported image format". Aperture 3 is a full new copy (not an upgrade) purchased 10 days. My mac is an iMac 3.08 GHz Intel 2 Core, running 10.5.8, and with 4GB of 800 MHz RAM. All software upgrades have been performed.
Aperture 3 says RAW files from my camera are supported. I downloaded directly from the camera by USP in the correct USP setting in the camera , i.e. 'mass storage mode'. Preview can see the .arw files but iPhoto and AP3 cannot. I've read that a possible fix is to down load via a Firewire 800 card reader. I'd rather avoid that as they cost about AU$170 - which is quite an impost when AP3 just cost me AU$249.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yesterday I found a similar post about the same issue with a new Canon camera. They fixed the problem by copying the files from the camera to a folder on the computer. Then they loaded the files into AP3 from the folder. Great news; it worked!!
Thank you for your thoughts on iMovie as I had not tried to download movie content yet. You prompted me to do a little trial. No problem. iMovie 08 read the ACVHD movie and it looks great.

Generating sync and PCLK signals for a sony XC-55 camera?

Hello, we have a Sony XC-55 camera connected to a PCI-1408 board that we would like to use in asynchronous mode to capture images. I know that it is possible to use the camera for this purpose because there is a document on how to do this with a 1409 card.
We also have a PCI-MIO-16E-4 board that we have connected to a shaft encoder. We want to trigger the camera when the shaft encoder is at certain positions. This shaft encoder will be connected to the 8 digital lines on the MIO board.
Is there any way I could use the MIO board to generate the required HSYNC, VSYNC, and PCLK signals? I'm thinking about using the PFI signals, but I don't know how to generate the required PCLK signal.

As you may have noticed, the 1408 does not have the same pulse generation capabilities as the 1409. You cannot use IMAQ Generate Pulse with the 1408 to get the required HSync, VSync, and shutter signals. You could use the counters on the MIO board to generate two of the signals, but not all three. It might be possible to operate the camera in internal HD mode and just provide the VSync and shutter. One of the 660x counter boards could generate all of the signals, however you would probably be better off just using a 1409. PCLK is generated internally by the camera and does not need to be provided by the board.
Are you using an absolute encoder in your system? You can read an absolute encoder with the DIO lines on the MIO board, however you will have to conti
nuously poll the lines to find out when you have reached the desired positions and then output a pulse. This operation will be software timed, so there will be some latency. If you have an incremental encoder, you could connect it as the source to one of the counters and output trigger pulses at precicely defined intervals.

Parts for a sony cyber-shot camera

How do I get a part for my camera? When I used it the last time the corner piece for the back of the top of the camera under one selector button and over the dial fell off. No one seems to have a part number or any idea how to get this little piece. My camera still works perfectly, but I don't want to use it just in case until I replace the plastic piece that fell off. PLEASE HELP!!!!

How to get a part for your SONY camera... find one on Ebay and buy it from there. It would have cost me atleast $80.00 to get a cosmetic piece replaced. I just won my bid on Ebay and I paid $19.50 for a whole camera!!!!!!! I am done buying Sony items. They used to be the best, now they know they have to much competetion and their getting out of a lot of the games. First my amazing Vaio computer they no longer make or service, now they don't even sell their own parts for their products. I need a driver that will work for my Sony DSC-S50 camera, I took my Mini to the Mac store to eject two CD's stuck. Now my camera will not download to iPhoto like it did before.

I had to take my Mini to the Mac store to retrieve a disc stuck in the drive now my camera will not download into iPhoto. I have a Sony Driver Disc,but when I try to open the disc I get a error message "Classic environment is no longer supported". I have OSX 10.6.7 what has changed?

I'm sorry, but there is no 10.7.5 - do you mean 10.4.x or 10.5.x or 10.6.x?
I asked because 10.6. (which you have now) no longer supports the classic environment, but previous OS's did. So, if the store "upgraded" you to the latest OS when you had it in for repair, then that would be the reason. So, if you can't remember which OS version was on it, I would call or go to the store and ask if they changed the OS version. Now, I'm not sure what a Sony Driver Disc is - do you mean it's the software that came with your camera? Depending on the format of your camera cards, you should be able to use a USB card reader instead which might be easier to deal with.

Lightroom color profile for Sony NEX 5N?

Hi all. I'm trying out LR4 at the moment, and I noticed that the only available color profile (Adobe Standard) is way off for my NEX 5N. Colors look really flat and greenish compared to in-camera jpgs and RAWs edited with iPhoto or Aperture. I found this profile http://www.piraccini.net/...2011/11/sony-nex-5n-new-standard-adobe-color.html, which is a lot better but still not really what I would like to see.
So the question for any NEX 5N users is, what color profile are you using in Lightroom? Thanks.

Digging up an old thread here, but I'm having a similar issue. I too only see "Adobe Standard" along with other "Camera Landscape, Portrait, Standard, Vivid". If I browse to the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\ There was previously no folder or files related to my Sony NEX 5N within any of the subfolders, except for the "Sony NEX-5N Adobe Standard.dcp" file. I've since found what I assume are supporting .dcp files for my Sony camera under C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.3\Resources\CameraProfiles\Camera\Sony NEX-5N and tried to copy that folder, which includes 4 profiles, and paste it within the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\ directory.
Here is what's happening: No new profiles show up. I'm at a loss about how to install new profiles if I needed to. I've even tried downloading the OP's recomended profile from the piraccini.net site, but I'm at a loss with how to install those. No matter where I paste the different profiles (folder that contains .dcp files) they just don't show up within Lightroom 4.3. I'm at the end of my rope here, as I've tried everything that I know.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Sony NEX 5n on the new iMac - Videos not there?

Hi folks, can anyone tell me if this is a known issue and if there is a solution to this problem... I bought the iMac for the main reason of having a good powerful machine to view and edit HD MTS Video files taken from my new Sony NEX 5n Camera, which has really good HD Video... my older 2008 mac wouldnt play these unless I installed a plugin from panasonic as given to me by someone on this site which worked very well.
So, I've set up my new mac now, sold my older one and installed the MTS plugin again on this... but when I plug in my memory card and plug the camera to mac directly the video files are no where to be seen, but Ive checked and they are on the memory card and playable when using the camera to find and view them?
Anyone know why this is happening? It's obvioudly a problem with the mac as it's never done this before and they showing up through the PC?

OK, I've tried it and they don't show in Image Capture, but it's showing something in iPhoto, which I don't use...
I've attached a screen shot?... when I import one using this it converts it to a .mov file and looses its quality neither of which I want...
I want to be able to use the raw MTS file...

Can I Suppress Conflicting Names Messages in the TestStand Deployment Log?

I have a deployment that is being built via a command line calling the deployment utility. It is all being done with a script. I then use the deployment log for information to e-mail to myself and others about the build. I am getting conflicting name messages for VIs in the Labview Reports library that is shipped from NI. There are a lot of message about VIs being renamed because of this. Is there a way of suppressing these messages so real information can be observed and not missed because of all this spam? I don't want to have a real problem over looked because of these messages being generated about items that are not in my control. Thanks in advance for any help.

hello, i have a sony nex 6 camera. i would like to know if the latest photoshop of lightroom supports this camera and its RAW file - ARW?
If not, what do you recommend i do? i want to avoid having to compress the images, if that would reduce quality.

Yes.
It was first supported in Lightroom 4.2 and Camera Raw 7.2 (which is compatible with CS6 and CC)

Sony NEX-3 Raw Support

How is it possible that Aperture 3 does not support the raw format of the Sony NEX-3 camera? It's one of the hottest DSLR available right now do to it's compact size and has been on the market for nearly 6 months. No RAW support?
I'd rather take my camera back than have to switch to lightroom which added support 3 months ago…

You could batch convert the files with Adobe Camera Raw to DNG, or maybe the software provided will convert them DNG for you. http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/
I currently have a bunch of files that I converted to DNG from NEF when I was using Lightroom, and Aperture 3 reads them just fine.
I know its a extra step, but until apple release a update to their RAW engine its a solution.

Adobe PSE13 and Sony NEX-6

Hello everybody,
my question refers to the NEX-6 with the 16-50mm power zoom (SEL16-50)
Does someone know if it's possible to have the neccessary distortion corrections applied automatically when opening an ARW-file with Adobe PhotoShop Elements 13 with the Camera-RAW plug in ACR 8.7.1?
Although the NEX-6 is correctly recognized (as indicated in the frame) the opened ARW picture still exhibits the partly strong distortion. It can of course be corrected using the appropriate "filter", but this correction has to be executed for every single picture because the distortion depends on the focal length. OTOH, the distortion correction for my Leica D-Lux (109) is executed beautifully when opening an RWL-file with Adobe PSE13.
Every suggestion appreciated.
