Why not iMac 27 inch FULL HD?

Question is asked over and over again, I know. But I was a bit suprised when I saw that the new Apple 27 inch LED Cinema Display can support input for 1920 x 1080 FULL HD but the iMac 27 inch doesn't??
I hate to see only 720p on my iMac when I play playstation 3

have a look at David.Austin.Allens excellent posts in this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12000554&#12000554 on the same "problem".
When fed with the correct specified video-signal the 27" iMac can display 1080p.
The "problem" lies in the used converter (or the PS3 not having a DisplayPort).

As I stated my late 2009 iMac 27 inch hard drive failed and is being replaced.. I am being charged as machine does not qualify for the call back program..call backs are on 2011 machines.. However i am in shock that my segate internal iMac hard drive failed in less than two years.. are there others with similar issue? Also when I get machine back will new hard drive be stable .. How do I make sure my working environment is reliable.. I have all my data and work backed up and will be able to rebuild my system but I really do not want to have to go through this down the line again.

Just to update everyone and maybe help people down the road .... It has been a week of **** .... I may have finally solved a problem that I have seen a ton of people in all different types of discussions around the world having trouble with ...... I am going to upload some pictures of what I was getting in the beginning and it came out of no where .... I had the random pixel problem with my display and to make a long story short I came across an article two days ago regarding internal temperatures and fan speed ...... I kept reading about apples approach which is not the point ..... More importantly I dug deeper into temperature control and fan settings .... I discovered all kinds of software and there is only one in my eyes that can help anyone dealing with this display problem .... I will be honest, I do not have the money right now for anything extra and am barely getting by and that is why I kept at it ... I figured keep trying different things because a repair is out of the question ... http://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control - This program has solved my problem - I get to adjust three internal temperatures inside my Imac and slowly but surely as the temperatures remained constant the display is fine .... Like new again .... I cant believe it ..... Turns out the ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB graphics card gets very hot causing it to not do what it is supposed to ..... Anyone that has any questions do not hesitate to contact me ...... I am going to upload some pics .... They are not that clear but if you are going through this you will recognize the images for sure - There was so many more variations but this should help out - Thanks to everyone that takes the time out to help people on this support site .... HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Version 3.2.1 does not work on iMac 20-inch, Mid 2007. Only recognizes scanner not USB printer.
I would like to print via the USB connection instead of wireless (the wireless does work, and the scanner works via USB).
I tried connecting the printer directly (via USB) to my MacBook Pro laptop and it worked just fine.
How can I make this printer work on my iMac?
I spent 4 hours on the phone with HP and we did every combination of installation of drivers ad nausum and their bottom line is that it is a Mac problem.
Any help would be appreciated. Will be sending this printer back to Amazon if I can't make it work on the USB.
I am open to questions or suggestions

After 4 hours on the phone with HP and another hour with Apple (Mavericks support) no real solution other than check everything (removed everything from Login Items, removed all HP software anywhere in the system reboot, reinstall printer) then when nothing worked for the 4500, did an OS Reinstall (boot with CMD+R).
The Mavericks support group did open an incident (# 542875311) and I will update it when I figure out how to find it on the system.
My feel is that the base problem is that somewhere between the HP-Inkjet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.49-2 package and the Apple HP Printer software in the Library (version 2.16.1) the app for printing via the USP Port just does not get installed for the mid 2007 20 inch iMac. The scanner is recognized on the USB Port and the Printer works fine on Wi-Fi. I have too many devices to burden my home network with anothe device. Also, every time I put any HP Printer on Wi-Fi, my router (Netgear N600 WNDR3400 running 12 to 20 devices depending on who is home) gets wonky (but that's anothe story...).
Additionally, when I attach the HP Envy 4500 to my MacBook Pro (2010) it works perfect - print and scan via the USB prot and both functions show in the System Preferences - Printers and Scanners just as expected and just as the 3050 does.

Imac 27-inch 10.9 recovery disk will not start

hello everyone,
I am having boot up problems on my imac 27-inch.
I pressed the power button and press and held the Option key, I chose the
Recovery disk, but the Recovery disk did not start, instead I have the grey Apple logo and it keeps running but will not start.
The imac 27-inch was bought refurbished in late 2010
I also have imac apple care from 2010 never used. First time problem.
On pressing the Option key during startup,
Mach Hard disk and Recovery Disk 10.9 is displayed.
Choosing mac hard disk does not boot up the OS instead I get a big Zero sign with line through it or a big flash question mark sign.
Choosing the Recovery Disk 10.9 does not boot up Disk Utility, instead I get the grey Apple logo.

Your Recovery HD is damaged. You may be able to repair it using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.5.4. Under the Windowm menu select Disk Center. Select your boot volume from the list. Click on the Recovery HD tab then click on the Create a Recovery volume for this disk. Select Mavericks from the dropdown menu labeled "Recovery HD version to be applied." See if that works. iMac 27 inch i7 OSX Lion will not boot up from Hard Disc on cold start, and cannot find wifi hardware in the machine. Restart and everything is fine. I have two machine and they behave the same. Software or hardware problem?

First of all, try a hard restart; making sure no disks are in the slot, unplug everything from your computer (keyboards, mice, etc.) and then unplug the computer itself. Leave it unplugged for a minute or two, then plug it back in and boot it up.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down the option-key on your keyboard. The screen should show a choice of which disk drive to boot from. Choose your usual drive.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down the shift-key on your keyboard. It should take a while for it to boot up, as it is destroying all connections to sources that may contain a virus.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down keys "option-command-P-R" until you hear the startup tone a second time.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down the C-key. Make sure you have inserted the installation disk before doing this step.
If that fails, reboot it while holding down the command-key and the R-key.
If that fails, please reply to this and let me know.

There are many reasons this could be the case but whether an optical disc can be read or not is a function of:
The reflective media layer of the disc
Whether the burned disc was a DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW
The brand, model, and production lot of the disc
The specific frequency of the Write lasers that burned the disc
The specific frequency of the Read lasers that are attempting to read the disc
Are the Read lasers in the drive working (it is common for one set of lasers in a drive to fail while others continue to work)
How old are the Write and Read drives (laser frequencies change with age)
Is there dust on the read laser
Is there dust on the read lens
etc.
At one time it was estimated that fewer than 80% of all burned discs were readable in 90% of the drives. That has, I believe improved over time but at the same time it seems the faillure rate of lasers in the drives has increased but that may simply be the result of how many different read and write lasers there are in today's superdrives. Fortunately todays drives are a lot less expensive the replace -- now that Apple no longer installs optical drives in their computers.

The theme developer decides which icons the theme replaces and which it doesn't.
However, the theme editor tool may have restrictions in that it does not know of, or allow to change all icons. The theme editor is platform version specific, and does not know of all the individual apps of every phone variant based on a particular platform version. If the theme editor is not aware of all the icons, then the theme developer using the tool has no way of changing it, either.

Have you tried going to System Preferences>Mouse and making sure that right click is set to secondary click?

Like nearly all antivirus utilities for OS X, Norton a/k/a Symantec and Intego are worthless junk that will cripple your Mac. Remants of one or both are most likely preventing Safari from communicating.
Search the forums for techniques to eradicate them - simply disabling them or dragging their apps to the Trash is not likely to be sufficient. Start by reading this procedure from Symantec:

How much ram do you have? Did you recently import a bunch of photos into the organizer? PSE will be slow till it's through cataloguing them, which can take some time for large number of images.

What actually happens when you open it?
What app are you trying to play the files inside? Try iTunes.
I assume these files have DRM from the iTunes store. The Mac needs to be authorized to play them, open iTunes & select Authorize in the store menu, then sign in with the Apple ID that purchased the files.
Select the iTem in iTunes & get info on it (from the File menu) & you can see the account name that it belongs to.

I had a problem where it would not backup any more. Some of the diagnostics that they had me do were:
1. Repair Disk on the TM drive
2. Try backing up by clicking/holding the TM Icon and choose Backup Now
If failed:
3. Reboot Leopard
4. Try step 2 again
If Failed:
5. Disk Utility repair permissions
6. Try step 2 again
If Failed:
7. Log out and login as administrator
8. Launch Console from the Utilities Folder
9. In the System Log Search for "Time Machine"
10. Use that to help figure out problems and call Apple Care

If it's iTunes purchased music then you might be able to re-download it on your iPad via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app - it will download into the Music app. If you want your other music from your computer's iTunes (e,g. music copied from CDs and playlists) then you will need to sync it from your computer's iTunes to your iPad's Music app.
